We are on route to Gloucestershire
and heading to one of the most

notoriously haunted locations
in the UK, the ancient ram inn.

Now this place is the stuff of legends and
we're all aware of this location and what is

supposedly haunting this incredible place. How
are we feeling ahead of the investigation guys?

Well I'm excited, erm... this, you know,
this place has been on my list for ages to

do, erm.. There's just incredible stories
about the place, really dark stuff as well,

you know, we're talking demons,
we're talking witches, we're talking pagan

burial sites. It could be mind blowing
and I am excited, nervous but excited.

Yeah and I think the fact that this location
sits on the crossing between 2 ley lines

which intercept and originate from stone
henge as well, it's crazy and you know,

they found skeletons in the ancient
grave, you know, children's skeletons

that had daggers inside them, they
were obviously used as part of a sacrifice

which is so disturbing,
em how are you feeling?

I'm excited, I'm excited,
I mean the stories of

the place speak for
themselves really don't they?

But I just think we need
to make sure we take a

proper rational approach
to the location itself.

Yeah I mean it's, it's very easy
to let our imaginations get away

with US considering the stories
behind this location erm... you know

and it is such a shame as well that the
owner John humphries has sadly passed away,

you know, his stories will live on through
the generations of what he experienced

paranormal wise through this place.
This place was his entire work, it was

his, you know, his entire life really.
He slept there, he lived there, he...

It tore his family apart didn't it?

Exactly yeah erm... I mean rest in peace
to John humphries but we're gonna get

there now, we're gonna do a walk around
and we're gonna see if the rumours are true

about this location, when the sun goes down,
about the atmosphere dramatically changing.

We're gonna see if that's true and see if we can
actually capture anything on the walk around.

Let's do this.

Built in 1145 the ancient ram
inn was used as a keeping house for

slaves and workers who constructed
the nearby st Mary's church.

The inn has served as a private
residence and also a hotel ever since.

In 2017 the owner, John
humphries unfortunately passed away

but his stories and memories
of the ram will live on forever.

John humphries spent his life at the
ancient ram inn and his stories will go

down in history. The things that he
experienced at the ancient ram inn, you know,

he spent his entire life at
the location and to hear of

his passing really did hit
the paranormal world hard.

John was a legend and we can only
wish that his soul rests in peace really.

For such an iconic figure in such
an iconic location, to suddenly

pass. We can only send our thoughts
out to his family, to his daughter

and to all the people that knew
him really because, there are so many

people that passed through the
ancient ram inn's doors that met John,

that shared his love for the
building and also shared in his

stories, which were really quite
serious in some cases as well.

Known as one of the most haunted
buildings in the UK, the ancient

ram inn is constantly opening it's
doors to paranormal investigators

and many believe that the location of the
ram is key to it's paranormal activity.

The ancient ram inn is famous in
the UK for it's hauntings and I think what

makes this really interesting, is the fact
that it lies on intersecting ley lines

which originate from stone
henge. There are not many haunted

locations that actually sit on
such a position in this country so...

Could that play a part in
the hauntings? The rumours

certainly suggest so,
I guess we'll find out.

Not only does the ancient ram inn sit on this
very interesting point where two ley lines

intersect but it is also believed an ancient
pagan burial ground once lay on this very site

over five thousand years ago.

The supposed hauntings of this fascinating
location have intrigued millions of people from

all over the world and there has been some very
interesting evidence captured over the years.

One of the most famous stories
surrounding the ancient ram inn, is the

tale of a witch who was burnt at
the stake in the sixteenth century.

It is believed that the woman took refuge in one
of the rooms before she was captured and that

room is now known as the 'witches room'. Many
believe they have seen and heard this woman.

One of the places that I'm really looking
forward to investigating actually, is the witches

room erm... the stories that go along with
that room are really, really fascinating.

The woman that got burnt and hid out in the
ancient ram and erm... I think it would be

really good to do some evp bursts in that room
and see whether we can capture any voices.

The most haunted room in the ancient
ram inn is believed to be the bishop's

room. Many years ago the hoof of
a goat was found buried in the wall.

When the ram served as a hotel,
many guests would leave this room in

he middle of the night after
witnessing terrifying paranormal activity.

The ghost of a monk is
believed to appear in this room.

I think one area of the ram that
really intrigues me is probably the

bishop's room.I mean the stories of
erm, a monk appearing in the room erm...

Apparently it's one of the most active
rooms in the house and a goats hoof is

said to have been found in one of the
walls of the room so that's quite strange.

The most disturbing fact
behind the the ancient ram inn,

is that it has provided
evidence of satanic rituals.

John humphries discovered the skeletal
remains of children in a grave. Broken

daggers were found within the skeletons
and the grave can still be seen today.

John claimed for may years, right up until
his death that the inn was plagued by an

incubus and succubus. Two demons that appear
as beautiful men and women during the night.

These demonic entities are
believed to lure their victims into

sexual intercourse in an attempt
to spawn the devil's children.

John humphries believed he was being targeted
by the incubus demon on a regular basis

and was supposedly dragged from his bed
on numerous occasions by an unseen force.

The hoof of a goat, skeletal
remains, an ancient grave

and the supposed presence
of two demonic entities.

It is no wonder the ancient ram inn is
known as one of the most terrifying and

haunted locations in the UK and we are going
to spend twenty four hours locked inside.

Ahead of the investigation, becki, Emma and
myself, decided to explore the ram during

the day to get a sense of the atmosphere
before we spent the night locked inside.

This place is seriously creepy.

hear before a lockdown isn't it.

Yeah, I think so.

crazy? To see this building

from the outside it doesn't
actually look that big

no, it looks really small.

But when you come inside it's huge.

Isn't this the room where
they have children buried?

No, that was the ancient grave.

Cmon let's keep going.

As we head upstairs now,

we should be coming across the witches
room which is on the right hand side.

And this is where most of the
activity is said to take place as well.

I don't know whether it's because of
the stories of the house or you know, the

rumours, the myths, you speak to loads of
people about how active this locations is

but... mate look at upstairs.

That is creepy up there I'm not gonna lie.

That is really creep up there.

It's cold!

I know! It really is! But...

Like I was saying, I don't
know whether it's because of

the rumours or what but
this place is seriously freaky.

We were completely unaware
that we had actually just captured

a strange whistling sound from
somewhere near to the staircase.

This noise did not come from any of
US and we were the only people inside

the house. This exact spot would
prove to be vital in the investigation.

It's cold!

Like I was saying, I don't know
whether it's because of the rumours...

So this is the witches room.

And obviously it's believed that,
a woman stayed here or hid here.

She was being accused of
witchcraft and she was later burnt.

Obviously there are so many
rumours and stories about

this room being highly
active, evp's being captured.

My god they've even got a ouija board
on the table, what is all that about?

A bit freaky.

Ok, let's head through here.

Again, what, what's with
the ouija boards on the table?

Now to me, that's just inviting stuff.

Yeah.

What was this room?

I have no idea.

No idea at all.

It's a weird bit because
you've got ouija boards but then

you've also got loads of
religious artefacts out here.

Kind of contradicts itself

yeah, yeah.

And putting ouija boards in a place
that's so famous for demonic activity,

yeah it's not..

It's not the brightest of ideas.

Look at all this, wow.

Now this is what really creeps me out,
stuff like this because anywhere that feels

the need to place such religious artefacts
like this, clearly has something going on.

It does feel weird, the atmosphere
in here is very, very strange.

I feel really, really
heady in here but I don't

know whether it's because
the floors are so uneven.

I think that's something we're gonna have
to take into account during the lockdown

tonight, that the floors are uneven,
let's try and stay rational with that.

Now this is meant to
be the most active room

of the house, this
is the bishop's room.

Now that is in this room that supposedly
a goats hoof was discovered in the wall.

This room gives me the heeby jeeby's.

It's a bit of a weird one.

I don't think that the lighting helps.

I think, from what I've
been told, it was in this

next to the fire place.

Obviously there is a bit of
wall missing there, maybe they

found it in there I don't
know, could just be rumours.

I thought that he'd dug a hole up
the chimney breast somewhere.

If the rumours are true about when
the sun goes down, whether this place

really changes in atmosphere. That is
supposed to be a really big rumour so...

There's an awful lot
of mirror in this house.

I've no idea but it's a bit creepy.

Very strange but, some
people say mirrors act as portals.

That's what I'm wondering,
whether they're trying to build

on the energies that are here,
by using mirrors somehow.

It's a very, very strange
place, it's one of the

most surreal places
I've ever been to and....

Right now as we're walking around I don't feel
like, I can feel the atmosphere but, but I don't

feel, I don't feel nervous, I don't feel like
we're gonna be in for a real horrific night but...

It feels quite comfortable right now

yeah.

But I mean if the rumours are true,
if the rumours are true that there is

indeed demonic activity taking place
here then, then anything could happen.

We've been places before where
we've walked around in the day,

we've felt absolutely fine. Gone
back to do the night investigation.

Pool park asylum, pool park
asylum being a prime example.

the lockdown guys.

With the rest of the team arriving, we
prepared for our lockdown inside the

ancient ram inn. Is the ram really
one of the UK's most haunted locations?

And was John humphries
experiencing real demonic

entities before his death?
Our aim was to find out.

Ahead of tonight's investigation
at the ancient ram, I'm a little

bit nervous erm.. About the rumours
that I've heard about the place.

The investigation will tell US the
truth whether it is or not one of the most

haunted places in the UK. I'm hoping for
an interesting night with lots of activity.

I'm looking forward to the investigation
tonight, I'm quite nervous to see what

happens. Obviously the ancient ram inn's
known for lots of negative experiences

but it will be extremely interesting
to find out what we get as a team.

Ahead of tonight's investigation I'm feeling
very excited, also nervous. There's been

a lot of hype around this location and
there's been a lot of people's perspective

on what has gone on in this house
so that's why I'm looking very forward

to getting down to investigating
this location, to see what can capture,

what evidence we can
gather so yeah, very

excited and I hope
we get a lot of activity.

This is it, we are about to be locked down
inside the ancient ram inn, one of the UK's most

haunted locations. We're about to find out
exactly what is supposed to haunt this building.

Now locked inside the ancient ram
inn, becki, sian, Charlie and myself would

split off on lone vigils, whilst Emma
and rox monitored US from our base room.

Charlie was on the top floor in the
attic section, sian was placed in the

bishop's room, becki was downstairs in the
barn and I would take the witches room.

Four locked off cameras would allow
Emma and rox to watch our every

movement from downstairs, it was
time to investigate the ancient ram inn.

I'm in the barn.

Erm... I don't know how
active this part of the building is.

It feels

pretty freaky, it's
extremely dark in here.

Like apart from the camera, I can't see
in front of my own face it's that dark.

It's quite a big, expansive room.

It feels very, very eerie.

Erm... and as I'm in here....

I think Dan is

erm... in the witches
room, rather him than me.

As horrible as this is,

at least I'm not in that witches room.

Erm...

Sian is in the bishop's room.

And Charlie is in the attic.

There are so many
stories about this place.

And there is a really,
really weird feeling.

The minute it got dark which
could be imagination, it could be

and I try to avoid imagination
if I can, I try to be rational.

But it's just so dark!

You know there's quite a lot of
windows in this house but actually,

it is quite dark.

You can see behind me there's just
loads and loads of stuff in this barn.

So just coming in to the bishop's room.

There's not a very nice
feeling to this room at all.

There's reported sightings of
erm... a monk in this room and

there's also been a goats foot
or hoof found in the chimney

of this fire place for some reason.

One of the places that's
making me feel quite

uneasy is behind the door
for some reason, by here.

Quite a bit of noise from outside.

It's definitely that area by the door,
behind the door that's not nice at all!

It feels pretty eerie in this room.

It's a really, really crazy house, now...

The rumours are that the atmosphere drops,

in this house, when the sun
goes down which is a natural thing

to happen you know in a spooky,
old haunted house in the dark.

But the atmosphere really
has dropped in this house.

and myself gaining no substantial
evidence during our lone vigils,

we decide to gather the team in the witches
room to conduct an sb7 spirit box session. At

the same time, Charlie would head into the base
room and lie on the sofa where John humphries

used to sleep and where
he claimed to experience

demonic activity from
an incubus and succubus.

Ok, we are up here in the witches
room right now where I was earlier.

And I have to admit
that the feelings

within this room were
really quite intense.

it on the monitor downstairs.

So after about forty five minutes of
sb7 spirit box, we caught absolutely

nothing on the upper floors. So we
decided to head down into the barn section

where becki had actually been hearing
these strange tapping noises earlier

on during her lone vigil. So we moved
down to see what we could capture.

Ok guys so when I was in here
on my own before erm... I was

getting the sort of weird tapping
noise up in the top right corner.

Erm... that's where
it started. Then I got

like, weird shuffling
noises... you alright em?

I swear I just heard something.

Like a, I dunno, like a,
like a funny voice noise.

Did you hear that thud?

That was a massive bang.

That was a big thud.

It feels completely different down here.

noise behind me, right there behind me.

That sounded like a tap.

before, it was just... it started in

then I got out of here.

I've heard... there are
two entities in this house.

Called an incubus and succubus

way I can describe it was like, something

the only way I can describe it is if you're in a
pair of shorts and you were in the snow. That's

how cold my legs were and then a couple of
minutes after that I felt a brush across my head

like somebody rubbed
their hand across my head

And it me right up!

But I am absolutely frozen!

And I heard in the back, I don't know what
it's.. I could hear like shuffling but I

don't know? To me it sounded like as if
something was being dragged or a slight growl.

describe it was like, as if it

With things starting to become quite
strange in the ancient ram inn, we brought

the whole team together and moved into the
room Charlie had heard a growling sound.

Ok, we have all come into this back room now
where the ancient grave is and I think everyone

will agree with me when I say that the
atmosphere in this house has severely dropped.

Yep, yeah.

Things are getting really
quite scary right now.

And I'm hoping... that
activity is gonna follow.

At this moment we all heard
footsteps coming from the back of

the room. What we don't realise
is that up in the bishop's room,

our locked off camera is about to
capture something completely mind blowing.

There was a thud upstairs.

Was there?

Yeah.

I heard that.

My god I got a figure!

Over the grave?

Near the grave, near the grave!

Where that noise came from earlier.

How big is the figure?

Just as I panned over it appeared.

Right by the grave.

That was like something moving.

Come down these stairs.

That was a bigun!

Again, listen carefully as
something is clearly captured moving

around in the bishop's room
which we all hear downstairs.

Guys, I feel surrounded.

Shh, shh, shh!

My god what was that!?

There was a right cold breeze
right down my right hand side.

After that bang,I'm sure I heard a giggle.

Something is happening.

Where are you?

Who are you? Stop toying with US.

So, it was in the open grave section
of the house where it really started to

kick off and erm... we actually caught
the glimpse of a figure by the open grave,

that was very small, it was child
like in size and then we started to hear

all these noises upstairs erm... it very
much sounded like footsteps above US

and then the energy really started to
charge up form there which then kind

of lead in to the rest of the night
where everything started to kick off.

Now during this part of the night,
the whole house had gone really weird,

the atmosphere changed dramatically,
everything became really hectic.

We caught what seemed to be like a child
like figure on the sls camera. Then we did

and sb7 spirit box session near the ancient
grave and we caught absolutely nothing

but I remember at this point seeing a figure out
the corner of my eye by where the barn section

was which was really weird because that's where
Beck had been experiencing things all night.

So I said to the team, guys let's get
out there now and see what's going on.

We do not fear you.

My god! Down there, down

We got out near the barn
section and immediately it felt really

weird. I was freaking out
because I'd seen this figure moving.

We then headed in to the barn and
something crazy was about to happen.

Something's just moved right,
right around here this area here.

It's back in that barn again!

I felt really weird in the barn. We had a continuous
tapping noise that was quite a common theme

throughout the night and it seemed to happen all
around US erm... throughout the investigation.

We had times when you felt like you were
being watched erm... where you thought people

were following you like you didn't know
where anything was gonna come from next,

it was, it was really quite strange.

or a dragging sound, so we decided to move
towards the bottom of the staircase to continue
