this year there's a bunch of new faces here.

You know, this year we got 12 teams.

Here's what I decided to do, you know,

give them that respect.

Block, mr. Kye, relic, and chucky,

they made it to the second round

so they're gonna get a bye on the first round.

We gonna let the other eight teams

face off with each other and race each other.

This year, we got 12 teams coming out to race,

so it's going to be a little different than last year.

First off, we're going to run a wild-card round

for the new teams

and the teams that lost in first round last year.

They'll race-off to see who deserves a spot.

The four wild-card winners will join the four teams

that made it past round 1 last year.

And then it's on.

Eight races down to four,

then four down to two, then two down to one.

And that one team will face off against memphis.

To say they are the fastest in america and claim the title

plus the $100,000 cash.

But sometimes teams just can't deal with pressure

and can't work things out.

Adam plunkett and brent self got in a fight with kye kelley

and they parted ways.

So this year, adam plunkett and brent self

have their own team they call black sheep mafia.

They claiming that they the real deal

and they're fast on the streets.

They got a lot to prove.

You got kye and the new group from new orleans,

they're baddest on the street, they've done their deal, but...

Both brent and kye showed up telling me

they don't want to fight, they want to race.

But with that being said, they could end up

racing each other, and things could get heated.

But first, black sheep mafia has got to get past axman

and his team from virginia. That could be tough.

I'm not going to sit here and say I'm real street,

but I'm here to prove that a no prep kings person

can set anybody on fire.

It don't make a difference.

Axman, his team virginia,

are well known in no prep racing.

But they showed up on grudge night

and probably made some of the fastest pass

I seen that night on the street.

Virginia is trying to prove that they are street racers,

not just no prep king racers.

Of everybody that I didn't want to race

first down the road -- axman.

But it is what it is.

You've got to beat them all to win.

Racing axman's team is going to be tough.

Them guys, they've been around a long time.

I got a feeling he don't want to run us neither.

I mean, you got - to get through all of them.

It's going to be a dogfight all the way to the end.

These guys followed me

all the way across the united states, basically, you know?

We're from louisiana and florida and arkansas.

For them to come over here,

I got to do all I can to lead them to a victory.

I mean, brent has a lot on us

because, I mean, he raced it last year.

So he knows every game there is to play every game.

Every game. He's a top team.

We got the baddest racers in the country, I mean.

I know black sheep mafia is a badass team,

but I know they have some weak links,

and I may have to pull them cards

to get around them to take them out.

There are some big-caliber racers and a lot of badasses,

and I know it's going to be some driving, some sideways racing,

knocking the tires off.

It's going to be interesting.

what order we're gonna go.

I would like to, whatever we feel like they may think,

I'd like to try to trick it up a little bit.

I don't think they're going to put their fastest up front.

Now, out of all the cars we have here,

who is 100% confident - they go down first and be fast?

With that being said, axman is really fast on the track

and he's a great racer,

So both of these team leaders are going to be put to the test.

Me personally, I feel like the first race

of the night sets the tone, and making that decision

of who you're going to send out first,

it sets it for the night.

Think it needs just a little bit of fuel in it right there.

Brent and nola, it split. Brent's not with the team.

We're following brent,

and we've got some heavy hitters.

I believe we've got enough juice in this team

to gun down anybody here if everything lines up.

To me, it seemed like brent self's strategy

for the black sheep mafia was to put two

of his heavy hitters out first and try to ride the wave.

Axman has a totally different strategy.

He put two of for sure a-to-b cars out first.

Now, axman is bringing in his power.

He's bringing out chuck.

They call him the chuck 55, but he's in a camaro tonight.

We're about to find out if axman's strategy is going to work.

And it's a lot of pressure on him.

If team virginia goes down 3-0, it could be ugly for him.

These guys are street racers.

We can't walk in here thinking just because we got power,

we can outrun them.

the hoffman crew has finally struck gold at the buckland.

Todd: This whole season's been an absolute stress ball.

Hopefully, it finishes up better than it started.

I have a pretty heavy weight on my shoulders right now.

But I feel like we're finally turning the corner.

These guys are my family.

I just want to get gold for these guys.

Last week, they took a vital step

towards todd's 5,000-ounce, $6 million goal --

a 52.6-ounce cleanup worth over $60,000

from just two days running.

We dug this huge hole.

We finally found the gold right over there,

right next to the dredge track.

We're gonna go get that gold there

and go right underneath that dredge.

Narrator: Two months ago,

todd leased the buckland claim from marvin wirth.

Turin: This is definitely dredge track, isn't it?

Wirth: The dredge ran basically the full length

of this spot right up till here.

But no one's been in here seriously since the '20s.

100 years ago, a dredge mined

a gold-rich pay streak on the buckland.

Todd's been told there's a layer of main pay

at a depth the dredge couldn't get to.

But before they go under the old dredge path,

the men are mining a small pocket of side pay

a monster 532 ounces of gold,

worth over $600,000,

putting him three quarters of the way

to hitting his 2,000-ounce, $2.4 million goal.

Now, after his biggest-ever weigh-in,

stranded 100 miles upriver at thistle creek.

These go into a hole.

When the pin comes through, it bends them out.

And that's what holds them in.

Narrator: The screen decks are made up of removable panels.

The center panels have clips attached

which slot into sockets.

Pegs then secure the clips in the sockets.

But parker has been using panels without clips.

They've become loose, creating gaps

and allowing rocks to slip down into the riffles,

where they disturb the water flow

and cause the gold to wash out.

We've got some block-out pads

that usually we put at the very top to take the abuse.

Only problem with them

is, obviously, no materials gonna go through that.

But it's gonna plug our hole for now,

till we get the right screens.

It's got the proper clips on the bottom.
