and this is a multigenerational
family farm

that's transitioned into wine
grapes and selling of wine.

So we've got this wine that
we've been working on for years.

Jocelyn: Very rare. 790 bottles
of this prestige cuvée.

We're going to release it
on new year's Eve

and make a real big deal
about it.

Wow.
So is wine like cars?

The less production,
the more it's worth?

And we really want to partner
on a huge release

that commemorates
this particular wine.

But I want you
to taste it first.

He's going to get me drunk
and negotiate.

This is where we store a lot

of our most prestigious wines.

Some of these wines
will actually stay in barrels

several years.

there's all the juices

He's off the beaten track,

of the season for us

because winter's
starting to fall.

with the ass end of it,

how short it is
and all that sort of stuff,

but that's something

and the curves go even longer
than they were before.

to release their new champagne

We have a Austin A40 somerset.

It is a roadster,

and we're going
to keep it a roadster.

I really want to make it
look elegant,

is I'm gonna run a cross brace

from a piece of square tubing
down to the bottom of that,

shoots off that, and then
one up top of that,

down to the bottom of that and
I'm gonna tack it in the middle.

And then I'm going to relieve
all the back of it.

We're going to cut it off.
That's what we gonna do!

there's a word
that comes to my mind.

If I take all the integrity
out of the car

and do not put it back,
it's worthless.

So as I cut the integrity
out of this car,

I have to put it back
to make it a car.

And I'm going to do that
by making braces

out of square tubing.

bit more welds on the corners

to give it some
of its integrity back.

and I'm on the hunt for a car,

something that hits my budget,

something that's cool

in a generation of a kid my age
that he would enjoy.

The engine's six feet
with the transmission?

Five and a half,
so rear end starts here.

And then you want to do
that tail going to a point.

This car is... it seems like
it's going to be really, really,

really, really long.

It's nerve-racking
because this is a small budget

and it's a really big car,
so it's a lot of work.

You know, I don't know
why Chad does this sometimes,

because we could do
a really small car.

Yeah, it all takes money
and it takes time.

We're going to weld
that right there.

We'll find our distance
on that thing right there.

29 inches?
We're gonna weld that

frame rail there,
then we're gonna stick

that engine in it.
Mm-hmm.

And then we'll build
the rear end on after.

Alex: With this chassis,
we're using

the front suspension and stuff,

so we have to get the width
of the front suspension

and then build the frame
to that back

so it's not too wide
or too narrow.

The plan is today is to have
the engine and transmission

locked down between
these two frame rails.

Alex and Colton are working
on the frame,

and I'm going to start
making the shape of the cab.

If this is a roadster,
I really want to feel

like the door is part of the car

when it closes there.

I'm gonna take
and cut them doors down.

I'm going to actually
weld them doors shut first.

I'm sitting on the floor
of the car pretty well.

Arm here.

But as I'm sitting here,
I have to think,

so this is the floor by my feet.

There's... at least
have that much room.

I got this at my back,
so, you know...

When you're sitting
in the car, it would be nice to,

you know, have your arm down
instead of cocked up.

I'm gonna put a piece
of exhaust pipe

across here and around the back.

This is just the beginning.
You know, we're just

at the beginning stages,
so if I feel overwhelmed now,

I would probably
not get the job done.

I carry these elbows
'cause for as I like the shape.

I can't bend them, haven't got
the machine to bend them,

but you can buy them
through speedway fairly cheap,

and I use them all the time.

I think we've used them
almost on every build.

That shape is hard to get
and they're very strong.

I'm going to cut that there

and then I'll have two
of the exact same pieces

and I'll use one for that side
and one for that side.

Weld that on there like that.

She's a smoking gun right there.
Look at that, baby, smoking gun.

That went quick.

The time we have on this car,

I have to use it perfectly
to get it done.

If I do not put the car
on the block at the time

that they wanted,
my integrity is shot already.

As this is going on,

we've got a chassis squared up.

We got our first
cross member put in.

We got it tacked in the back.
We've got the engine.

The doors were
being welded shut.

The shape of the Fender
coming down the door is nice.

You know, as I cut it down
and make it low as I can

is what I'm trying to do
is make as low as I can

so that it looks nice
on the same line pattern.

I just want to see
where the body lies

on the car with the motor,
and I want to... I want...

I want... I want to look at it.

We are putting a 360
in front of this thing,

wide rear end for this.

They're about 70 inches,

which we want a wide,
wide stance in the rear.

I got one more piece
in the bar weld done,

then I'm going on
to the front end.

This is my first thing

I've ever took on by myself
in the shop,

and I'm representing.

It's my family name
and my dad's business,

and I want to please everybody

and show dad
that I can do it right.

It's my day off.
I'm working with dad,

so I'm going to put some work in
and get the build done.

If I say I'm gonna finish,
I'm gonna keep my word.

I want to get that looking
like a car again.

I'll start putting
the headlights back in,

play with those new bumpers,

and then I can step back
and have fun with it.

my car and put it back on.

It's exhaust time.

The original exhaust on it,
it's not bad shape.

I mean, it works,

but with the new bumper
I ordered,

I'll just put an end on it,

make it look nice,

and make it maybe sound
a little deeper with the intake

and look a lot nicer with that
nice tip out there,

you know, with the backs instead
of an old rusted-off tip.

I'm gonna cut
the old muffler off.

I hacked it all off,

I got everything in line
to do the muffler,

but, you know,
a lot easier said than done.

I might go ask al
for an opinion.

You know, there's a time frame,
and Al's two steps away.

So I might as well go ask

before I make some hack job
under there, you know?

The exhaust pipe would have to
go through this flange

to support that doming gasket.

You're gonna have to find

a piece of exhaust pipe
that goes inside this.

Colton is on the right track
to fix this exhaust,

but the piece of pipe that he's
using is not the right size.

I think at this point,
Colton is better off

to cut the old exhaust pipe off.

Colton: For al, he's done it
three million times.

I've never done it once,
so for his opinion to come in

and say, "hey, do it this way,"
is the world.

So I'm happy for his help.

Quite a small place
for a big guy.

Should be good
all way around there.

So now the exhaust is finally
welded on and together.

I want to see if it works.

and how we're gonna do it.
