trap miners might be rescued were of

against the oppression and greed of the

coal co-operators

and the insensitivity and corruption of

government in the mining areas

but in recent years the present

leadership

has not responded to the miners they

have not

fought for the health and safety

i've been a part of this leadership i

participated in

and tolerated the deteriorating

performance

but with an increasingly troubled

conscience

now today i'm not going to be beholden

to the past

i'll try to answer your questions

know of your decisions

black lung disease be an issue yes and

mine safety

and democracy in the union

what about the union pension fund there

are allegations of mismanagement

we'll look into it how do you justify

this sudden decision to run after having

remained silent for so long
