Episode 45

Prefectural Magistrate Zhang is celebrating his birthday in spite of his illness.

What do you think of it?

He is unwilling to live in obscurity

Do you have any plan?

Kill you

while you are ill.

Tong'er.

Dad.

I'm here.

Has your second uncle gone to Woniu Ridge?

He left this morning.

Hope your second uncle

will achieve a great victory in Woniu Ridge.

With your second uncle leading the army,

these mountaineers

will be dashed to the ground.

Kill them.

Kill them.

Ge Duolao

is just an insignificant person.

How can he defeat our family?

When we return with great victory,

these Minority Official who have two minds

will be hell-bent on following us.

Tian Miaowen, that bitch

is not capable enough to fight with us.

Tong'er,

you have grown up.

It's time to hand over our family to you.

Then I can rest assured.

Dad,

it's your birthday today.

The second uncle will win the war,

making it a birthday gift to you.

As the saying goes,

enjoy life every chance you get.

Gather roses while ye may.

You just

become the bridegroom of a different bride every day.

Your mothers-in-law are everywhere.

Whose daughter did you sleep with yesterday?

Secret.

Secret.

Today is Prefectural Magistrate's birthday.

What present did you prepare?

Eh.

Bro,

let's go to Phoenix Brothel

to have fun tonight.

Boring.

Why is it boring?

You are too insatiable now.

Even the Phoenix Brothel can't satisfy you.

Look at Prefectural Magistrate Assistant Dai.

Girls from good families just throw themselves on him.

If I learn from Prefectural Magistrate Assistant Dai,

I'll have relationship with your wife first.

One shouldn't flirt with his friend's wife.

Bullshit.

Don't you want to learn from Prefectural Magistrate Assistant Dai?

He even had relationship with

Post-house Official Pang's wife.

Are you sure?

Signs of danger appear everywhere in the officialdom.

You shouldn't readily believe rumors

Brother,

you don't know that

this affair is only concealed from Official Pang.

Dai Chonghua.

Please listen to me. Listen to my explanation.

This is misunderstanding.

I'll kill you.

Listen to me.

Dai Chonghua.

Your bastard!

Don't, don't look!

Don't look at me. Not me.

Don't look.

Don't look.

My mademoiselle,

Minority Headmen are all here.

What are you doing?

How many Minority Headmen have arrived?

Adviser Zhao,

None.

No one comes?

Yes.

You

go out to welcome them.

Once there is news,

report to me.

Be quick.

Yes, sir.

It's time for me to battle.

Just now, I played the zither for you, Brother Ye.

Now, how about you recite a poem to bid farewell to me.

May you, my senior general,

amaze the world by your victory.

May you amaze the world

with your first song.

Good.

Did you find

there is something strange today.

No headman comes here.

They will regret

about their slight today.

Go out of the way.

Here come all the guests.

My report, master.

I have checked the front courtyard.

Seats in the courtyard are mostly occupied.

But the seats of guests of are still vacant.

No one has come?

My lord,

you look much better today.

Yu Long,

I ordered you to contact all the Minority Headmen.

How is the thing going on?

I have done it.

There is no problem.

I contacted those Minority Headmen

who are not in a close relationship with the Tian Family

for fear of giving away the news.

You know,

if the master of Tongren changes,

can they get any advantage?

So most of them

are really on your side.

A few of them are shrewd.

They are still waiting to see.

But they implied that they wouldn't help any party.

Then why?

My lord,

I have dispatched someone to find out what is happening.

Minority Headmen from all places

have just left the courier station

and are hurrying here riding horses or taking sedan chairs.

It seems that they come late purposely.

What does that mean?

Do they want to show severity to me?

My lord,

should we put off the ceremony?

If we put off the ceremony because they are late,

won't they be more pleased?

We won't make it as they wish.

The ceremony will start on time.

Here comes the Prefectural Magistrate.

Wish Prefectural Magistrate

great fame and prestige,

a long

and healthy life,

and ever-lasting reputation.

Thank you all.

Please take a seat.

Thank you, Prefectural Magistrate Zhang.

Are you crazy?

My lord.

My lord.

My lord, it's not a big deal.

My lord, save me.

My lord.

My lord, save me.

My lord, save me.

Dai Chonghua.

Pang Shoushang.

Today's my birthday.

You two bastards,

what do you want to do?

My lord,

Post-house Official Pang is crazy.

He is crazy.

I'll kill you.

Help me. Help.

Enough.

Today's my birthday.

Why are you two bastards

quarreling and making a row?

Prefectural Magistrate,

he wants to kill me.

I have no choice.

Dai Chonghua,

no one can stop me today.

I'll kill you.

My lords,

please stop.

My lord,

I'm wronged.

Official Pang,

we have been friends for so many years.

Don't you believe in me?

Nonsense.

If we weren't longtime friends,

I wouldn't believe it's you that did it.

Stop.

How can you behave like this?

What a shame!

Shame, what shame?

He just knows how to pull up his trousers.

Father-in-law,

do you know what he has done?

Your daughter,

my precious wife,

with whom I dare not get laid often for fear of hurting her,

has slept with him.

No, no.

It's really hard to bear.

I'll kill him.

Today is my birthday.

You dare to make trouble.

No matter who is celebrating birthday today,

I will kill him.

You!

You turn my birthday

into a ridiculous play.

A green hat, the symbol of an unfaithful wife.

If you are made to put on a green hat,

can you stand that?

You can't stand.

Neither can I.

Why

I am always the one getting hurt.

What a bad name!

Shoushang (homonym of “hurt” in Chinese)

You make me lose my face.

I will make you lose your life.

Carry him away.

Do things in such a perverse way.

Sooner or later, he will be punished by the heaven.

My lord.

My lord.

My lord.

My lord.

We are defeated.

Dad.

My lord.

My lord.

How are you, my lord?

Take a deep breath.

Master.

Master, master.

Master.

Master.

They have arrived.

Minority Headmen all are coming to congratulate you on your birthday.

Dad.

They have all arrived.

Let's go out to welcome them.

General Guangwei,

Prefectural Commissioner Tian comes.

Headman Hong comes.

Headman Zha comes.

Headman Bai comes.

Headman Miao comes.

Assistant Tian and all the Minority Headmen

are going to amuse themselves at East hill,

and are not coming for the birthday celebration.

Misunderstanding.

It's a misunderstanding.

Go!

Gee!

You...

Fine!

Dad.

My lord,

Tian, Tian Miaowen.

Master.

My lord.

Prefectural Magistrate.

You are too malicious.

Master.

My lord.

Dad.

Prefectural Magistrate.

My lord.

Master.

Dad.

Send for the doctor.

My lord.

Dad.

My lord.

Dad.

My lord.

My lord.

My lord.

Dad.

Someone helps.

My lord.

Hurry up! Someone comes here.

My lord.

My lord.

Yutong,

your dad has died.

From now on,

you are the master of our clan.

You must cheer up.

Yu Long,

lords of the Wu Family and the Xiang Family

are still outside.

You should go out and comfort them.

Your dad died all of a sudden.

Now, everyone is jittery.

They will be your support later on.

You can't fall into panic and be in disarray.

Have you heard what I say?

Everyone can be flustered.

But you can't.

You must calm down.

Do you understand?

Second uncle.

My dad died.

He died from uncontrollable anger.

Tian Miaowen is really a bitch.

She bullies us to the extreme.

To the extreme.

Nice.

Yes, yes, yes.

Congratulations, My lord.

My lord,

Fatty Zhang died suddenly.

Zhang Yutong is a playboy.

He is unable to take any responsibility.

Good.

Yutong.

Your second uncle was just defeated in the war.

In our clan,

you're the master from now on.

Are you clear?

Tian Miaowen is only a woman.

Whatever she can do,

you can do it, too.

Do you understand?

My lord,

should we unite

all the other Minority Headmen

and force him to abdicate

the position of Prefectural Magistrate.

Good.

I think it's the best time.

We should set off at once,

forcing the Zhangs to abdicate.

Do it.

Yes, sir.

Wait for a moment.

Mr. Wen,

Prefectural Magistrate Zhang has just died.

If we start the revolt at once,

I'm afraid it's going to cause criticism against us.

Sir,

you are wrong.

One who does not accept what he is given,

will be punished.

If we do not act when the time comes,

we will suffer.

Taking a quick action

will have bad influence on your reputation.

Mr. Wen,

a man of great ambition

does not bother about trifles.

We should take actions at once.

And then turn the tide.

Right.

Mr. Wen,

think about it,

if Zhang Yutong

reports to the Imperial Court

and gets the permission to substitute his father's position,

uncertainties will increase.

Zhang Duo's remains have scarcely been cold yet.

As his son,

Zhang Yutong won't submit

the statement for substitution at once.

We still have time.

This is the best time.

We can't wait.

Don't you worry about

Ye Xiaotian's opinion?

Zhan Ning'er.

Miss Zhan.

It's me.

It's me.

Li Qiuchi.

Lawyer Li.

Why are you here?

Where is Ye Xiaotian?

I will tell you later.

Go with me, go, go.

My mademoiselle.

Here comes Miss Zhan.

I heard Xiaotian got into some troubles.

How is he now?

Sister Ning'er,

what can we do now?

Brother Xiaotian has been rescued by some people.

But we don't know who the rescuers are

and where he is now.

We have requested Li Dazhuang to investigate.

But nothing has been clarified.

His Excellency's whereabouts is a mystery now.

I know.

I spent

a lot of money

and finally got to know his whereabouts.

He...

How is he?

The fire in the Great Mercy Temple

was actually a cover-up.

Brother was saved by Commissioner Tian.

Let's go to Commissioner Tian's mansion.

Go, go.

No, we can't.

Outside there are all subordinates to the Zhang Family.

Act according to circumstances.

Miss,

look at this umbrella.

Your umbrella is really beautiful.

Of course.

Will you have a try?

This one is also very beautiful.

How come such kind of things happened.

Rest assured.

Since I killed the son and nephew of the Zhang Family,

I have been irreconcilable with the Zhangs.

Whatever happens,

I will stand by your side.

OK.

If we unite in a concerted effort,

there is nothing we can't do.

So what should I do?

In my opinion,

Assistant Dai's words are not unreasonable.

If one can't make decision when it should be made,

he will suffer from it.

We can't hesitate

because of Zhang Duo's sudden death,

or we will miss the great opportunity.

Tell me your reasons.

Zhang Duo died suddenly.

If we press on now,

it seems to be a little cruel.

But as things have developed like this,

even if you are willing to give up,

the Zhangs won't let it go at that.

So

only when all is said and done,

can the situation in Tongren calm down.

Zhang Duo is older than me

and is my senior.

I have no scruples when competing against him.

But Zhang Yutong is a younger generation.

I'm afraid this is an unequal contest,

which will bring me no honor, but criticism.

If you take all these matters

into consideration,

won't you become a diaper?

What do you mean?

No matter what wind others break,

you will receive.

Rude.

Though rude,

it's reasonable.

Luckily, I have thought about it before.

If we make Zhang Duo lose face

on his birthday ceremony,

he will rush into danger.

I secretly dispatched a group of guards

from the Tians to wait outside.

Even if they leap over the wall in desperation this time,

I won't be afraid.

My mademoiselle.

What's wrong?

Take them in from the secret tunnel.

Don't let others know.

Yes.

Brother Ye,

your friends have come.

Lord Ye.

Brother Xiaotian.

Where have you been hiding these two days?

We are so worried about you.

You see, I'm OK.

I suppose you abandoned me.

How can I?

How?

Where are they?

They come to distract

the bodyguards watching over us.

Lord Ye,

thanks to my disguise,

we can get rid of them.

I have run across several streets.

Commissioner Tian.

Make yourself at home.

Take a seat.

My lord,

last time, I asked you for help

but was rejected.

I was as miserable as a homeless dog,

hiding myself from one place to another in Tongren,

without anyone to appeal to.

To tell you the truth,

at that time, I was not sure

whether you are sincere enough.

Brother Ye's affair matters a lot.

I'm not convenient to give away the news.

Commissioner Tian,

where is Hua Yunfei?

How is he?

Don't worry.

I have rescued them.

But he has been involved in the case.

The five powerful families won't spare him from punishment.

I have arranged him to

stay at a relatively secure place

to take care of these subordinates of the court.

Good.

Good.

Commissioner Tian makes prudent plans

and won't make any mistakes for sure.

Actually, since fire broke out in the Great Mercy Temple and

our master disappeared,

I have been thinking that

Commissioner would surely take actions.

Thus, I feel

much more relieved.

Yes, yes, yes.

Whatever the case is,

Commissioner Tian has save d Brother Xiaotian.

We should say thank you to her.

Yes, yes, yes.

Thank you, Commissioner Tian.

Thank you, Commissioner Tian.

You are welcome.

Miaowen has always

admired Brother Ye for his personality and conduct..

What's more, both of us work in the same government.

We have frequent contacts with each other.

Of course, our relationship is extraordinary.

When Brother Ye fell into trouble,

how can I stand idle?

So you needn't thank me.

Brother Ye,

taste this melon. It's sweet.

It's said that fruits fall off when they are ripe.

You see, since the base of the fruit is green,

how can it be sweet?

Commissioner Tian,

we know that the melon you pick before it is ripe is not sweet.

Brother Ye,

you can have a taste to see

whether it is sweet or not.

My lord,

can you award this melon to me?

I love this kind of melon since young.

Since you like it,

it's yours.

Thank you very much.

How strange you are.

It's just a melon.

If you dislike it, don't eat it.

There are grapes.

Grapes are delicious.

Brother Xiaotian，

you can taste the grapes.

So sweet.

I, I like grapes much better.

Sister Ning'er.

Have some grapes.

Minority Headmen,

Please come in.

Mr. Wen,

inform headman Hong and headman Zha

to go the Zhang Family to offer condolences.

By the way,

find out the real situation of the Zhangs.

Headman Zha

and headman Hong are here.

Please come in.

Won't you be ashamed to condole?

Zhang Yi,

what do you mean?

Yesterday was my brother's birthday.

You should have come to congratulate him.

But you walked past our home

and made him angry to death.

You are the criminals who killed my brother.

Someone comes here.

Second uncle.

These two Minority Headmen have come to condole out of good intention.

We can't be that rude.

Uncles,

I'm so sorry.

Yutong,

are you silly?

Without their trick,

how can your father be that angry and die?

Others come to congratulate my father

because of their good intention,

but if they don't come, it is also reasonable.

My dad only died of the sudden disease.

How can we blame others?

You are too timid.

You lost your own dad

and could still stand it.

But I can't.

It's my blood brother.

Thank you for coming to offer condolences

in such a hurry.

Our good nephew,

we have worked together with your father for many years.

Though we used to have some disputes,

we are close friends after all.

Yes.

Cheer up.

You are the next Prefecture Magistrate of Tongren.

We'll support you.

No, no, no.

I'm young and innocent,

unable to hold such an important position.

The governmental affairs of Tongren

should be in the charge of Commissioner Tian.

Please come in.

Just now, I have checked with headman Hong.

According to our rough estimation,

there are only 20 guards in the Zhang Family

and there is no guard in ambush outside.

After Zhang Duo's death,

Zhang Yutong was frightened to death.

He is just a chicken.

We don't need to worry about him.

But his uncle, Zhang Yi

is a tough man.

How tough can he be?

It's the best time to replace the Zhangs.

Let's go there to condole

and take advantage of the mess,

forcing Zhang Yutong to abdicate the position of

Prefectural Magistrate of Tongren.

Mr. Wen,

call in our guards

to gather at the south gate of Tongren.

Yes, my lord.

Assistant Dai,

you call up your guards

and launch attack against the Zhang's at noon.

Yes, my lord.

I have to trouble you too

to contact each headman for us.

What's more,

could you please

tell them I will go there to condole

when you meet the Zhang Family.

I will not only go there by myself,

but also take Ye Xiaotian with me.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

One.

Uncle Three,

our master sent a secret letter.

Three.

Four.

Five.

One.

Two.

Third Uncle, please lead the troop to lurk at the south gate of Tongren

and wait for my order.

She lets us lead troops to Tongren secretly.

It seems that this bitch

has decided to have a showdown with the Zhangs.

Uncle Three,

this is a best chance for us.

Reply to her,

we will dispatch the troop on time.

Five.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Sister Ning'er.

why are you leaving

for no reason?

Why shouldn't

I leave?

You're right.

Eh.

Goodbye.

You are the daughter of the headman,

right?

But she is the headman.

She is much better than you

in terms of status,

background

and figure.

Did you see her eyes?

She must be a seductive woman.

Man likes this kind of woman best.

Sister Ning'er,

you think too much about it.

She just wants to ingratiate herself with brother Xiaotian

and asks him to condole.

You are really silly.

I don't want to discuss it with you anymore.

Thank you for your coming to condole.

Thanks to Commissioner Tian for care.

Uncles, please take a rest there.

Commissioner Tian is going to deal with this bastard.

Why does she pretend to condole?

Meaningless.

Just put on an act.

We even didn't show respect to his father.

Not to mention this young boy.

We do this for show.

What's wrong?

I feel uncomfortable in my stomach.

I

I want to go to the bathroom.

I

I'm not feeling well too.

My lords,

where are you going?

We feel sick

and want to go to the bathroom.

This way please.

OK.

OK, OK.

I know you worry about me.

But I trust Brother Xiaotian.

We have gone through

many difficulties all the way.

I believe that

we are irreplaceable

in each other's heart.

I have only one wish now.

I just want to accompany him,

making him happy.

OK.

I know you worry about me.

You are afraid that I will be cheated.

I remember back then

when I was locked up by my family,

and couldn't see Brother Xiaotian,

it's you who helped me send letters no matter how far it is.

I have always wanted to have an elder sister since I was young.

What about us

becoming sworn sisters

like Luo Daheng and Brother Xiaotian?

When you find

your Mr. Right one day,

I will lock you up

and then send letters for you.

Is that OK?

OK.

OK.

Stop worrying about me,

Sister Ning'er.

Minority Headmen,

please come this way. This way please.

This way please.

You will die this time.

Even if Tian Miaowen comes here today,

she will die here.

What's wrong?

I just heard that

they will attack Tian Miaowen.

Attack Tian Miaowen?

But Tian Miaowen has taken Brother Xiaotian

to offer condolences to the Zhang Family.

Oh, no.

Hustling and bustling,

people come all for benefits.

Hustling and bustling,

people depart all for profits.

My lord.

Brother Xiaotian.

Thanks for your coming.

Please go inside.

Stop.

Why do you let Commissioner Tian in

but stop us?

Stay outside.

Brother Xiaotian.

Danger!

Yingying.

Shoot arrows.

Kill them.

Go.

How come Tian Miaowen can practice martial arts?

Watch out.

Retreat.

Go.

Go.

Hurry up.

Hurry up.

Yingying.

Take care.

Are you OK?

Are you OK?

Go.

Follow them.

Official Dai.

Bad news.

Commissioner Tian and Official of Lawsuits Ye

are trapped in the Zhangs' Mansion

We don't know whether they die or live.

How about the guards going with them?

They are all killed.

Hurry up.

Gather all the guards to rescue Commissioner Tian.

Yes, sir.

Go away.

My lord.

Bad news.

We are besieged by the Zhangs outside.

Go from the back gate.

My lord.

Bad news.

The back gate is also blocked.

You

must hold on and defend our mansion.

Don't let them step inside.

Yes, sir!

Stop.

Run.

Run.

Watch out.
