Episode 23

Big brother!

You have made a lot of efforts

to persuade Dragon Gang.

Now he is dead so easily.

Dog meat is dog meat after all.

It cannot make a big difference.

A bandit is unable to make a big difference.

Never mind.

Now the Heavenly King has

formed an alliance with Tian family.

The County Magistrate Assistant, Xu Boyi

is a hanger-on of Tian family.

As long as he controls Hua Qingfeng,

he will control the Hu County.

If so,

that means the Heavenly King controls Hu County.

What we have to do

is to secretly coordinate with them.

Red Maple Lake

Ning'er!

Ning'er!

I am here.

You're so capable.

Finally you come to see me.

I'm so bored.

Okay!

You are almost being treated

like a Buddha.

You are not allowed to

leave Red Maple Lake.

When Xiao Lu told me,

I thought you were

bullied badly.

Isn’t this bullying me?

Don't they imprison me?

You don't even take my side.

You're so ruthless.

I came here from a distance when I got your message.

What else do you want me to do?

Fine!

I know you are my best friend.

Let's go.

What do you want me

to do?

Nothing!

I just miss you.

Miss me?

Okay!

Then I will stay here to play with you for two days.

In fact,

I really have something to do.

You laugh at me?

You

are so naive.

Laugh at me?!

Fine!

Take me to visit here quickly.

Let's go.

Take a look. It's fresh!

Duoni!

This time you must help me.

What's wrong with you?

I don't understand why big brother

saved Ministry Councilor Lin.

He should have been killed by A Dragon.

What are you saying?!

Don't talk nonsense.

No!

Even if you don't want to go on a blind date,

don't go.

This is a consensual thing.

Right?

If my father was a reasonable man,

it would be easy to handle.

Duoni!

You can poison someone by insect?

What's the matter?

Do you know that

the poisoned insect that keeps people farting?

Luo Daheng!

Are you mad?

What's the matter?

You're talking bullshit!

What?

So smelly!

What?

I tell you I must kill you today!

Stop it!

What's the matter?

Look at this!

What is this?

You will understand if you see it.

There is nothing.

Stop!

Ning'er!

The letter is entrusted to you.

I'll wait for you to come back.

Okay!

My little princess!

I will be a good Cupid.

By the way,

If other girls seduce Xiaotian,

hit them for me.

Other girls!

Xiaotian!

Come on! Sit down.

My lord!

Your house is really nice.

Right!

It is elegant.

Right, right, right.

Vulgar!

No!

I mean he is vulgar.

This house is constructed by Daheng!

and Duoni.

They cleared it up.

How much does it cost?

It's hard for poor people like you to understand.

Why do you ask this?

This…

Well, taste the dishes.

By the way, my Lord

You called us to burn the bottom of a pot.

What does this mean?

This is a custom

in the north.

In fact, it is just an excuse

that if someone moves to a new house,

he will bring everyone together

to have a meal

and have fun.

Today, buddies,

eat well and drink well!

-Don't worry.-Don't worry, big brother.

I propose a toast to all of you.

Okay, come on!

We must drink until we are thoroughly drunk.

Let me say something.

You made such a magnificent feat to defeat Qi Mu.

I don't mention it anymore.

Now you come back

and solved the disputes between Gao and Li Villages

and diverted water out of the mountain.

Then you succeed in suppressing bandits

and redressed the injustice for us women.

All of these

have changed

the social mode of

Hu County completely.

You are right.

Yes.

That's right.

So, my Lord,

I must propose a toast to you.

Old Li!

You are a totally smooth talker!

He is such a man!

That's true.

When we were in Huaxi,

some guy named Ge Long challenged him.

But he was punched down with a fist

by our big brother.

Right?

Really?

My lord, I didn't expect that

you are a hidden expert.

Let me tell you.

When we were taking a beating

by other people,

I tried my best to protect him.

My lord,

You really fooled me so hard.

My leg was broken.

No! My lord.

You keep yourself hidden too much.

No.

I just used a small trick.

It is not a real ability.

But speak of real ability,

I really met a person.

A woman.

Who is she?

Unfortunately, we are not in the pre-Qin period.

If in the pre-Qin period,

guess how would Sima Qian

describe this woman?

How?

You have a try.

The woman ccame from Ye lang.

She was 3 meters high.

Everyone should look up at her.

Emperor Qin heard about her bravery

and disappointed her as a female general.

Awarded her a pot of porridge

and two cows.

But she was not full after eating these.

She ate so much, but still not full?

Daheng!

Who are you talking about?

Big brother, don't you know?

This woman is called Zhan Ning'er.

I can eat so much?

Eat a pot of porridge

and two cows.

I am not full.

I'm sorry.

She is Zhan Ning'er.

My buddy!

Why are you here today?

Because I am not full.

I come to have meals for free.

But there are no cows in our house.

Come on! Add a pair of chopsticks and bowl.

-Dishes are enough? -Okay!

Come on, Sister Ning'er!

Your house looks so nice.

There are flowers and grass.

It was an old house.

Daheng and other buddies renovated it.

Someone is still trapped on a small island.

She has lost all desire for food and drink.

You have seen Yingying?

Does she have anything to tell me?

You are so free and easy.

There is no need to know.

I...Boss!

Boss Zhan!

Boss Zhan!

Tell me, ok?

Please tell me what Yingying said to me.

Ye Xiaotian!

You can't blame me.

This is designed by Luo Daheng.

Let me tell you something.

This is my fault.

When we repaired this house,

we found a fountain.

So I proposed to keep the fountain.

I promise you.

This fountain has never sprayed anyone before.

Who knows you are here?

Look.

No one to blame.

I didn't say anything.

Why did you explain?

Xia Family

is going to choose a husband for Yingying.

What?

What does Yingying think?

Don't you know Yingying?

No one can force her if she doesn't want to do it.

But

her Great-grandmother has known it.

Her grandfather has seen me before.

He thought I am good.

You’re wrong.

The grandfather you met

is not her great-grandmother!

This great-grandmother is that one's mother.

Oh, my God.

He is such an old age, but his mother

is still alive.

What is going on now?

Her great-grandmother has already known your identity.

What identity?

You are the Leader of Voodo Sect!

Yingying can only be with you for 20 years.

She even knows about it.

No.

I said since you can convince them

to agree you to travel around for 20 years,

get married and have a baby.

Can't you buy more time?

My gosh!

Don't you know

how stubborn they are?

I made great efforts to

persuade them to change minds.

Besides,

this matter cannot be pushed too hard.

Or the result will go to the opposite.

Actually I have a plan.

I have to accomplish it step by step.

Step by step?

How long is it?

5 years?

10 years?

30 or 50 years?

You know how miserable a girl is

when she loves you

so deeply?

Can you stop being so selfish?

A girl's youth is limited.

I am just

an asshole.

I haven't seen much of the world.

But if a girl

loves me

even in the face of obstacles,

I will definitely not live up to her.

Good!

You are right.

Ning'er!

Xiaotian’s new house is big and spacious.

Can't you stay here two days more?

I don't have time.

I have to deliver letters to Yingying.

Ning'er!

You like Xiaotian, don't you?

What are you saying?

He's my buddy.

Ning'er, don't lie.

Since you and Xiaotian

have come out of the Thunder God Forbidden Area,

the way you look at him is a little weird.

Don't talk nonsense.

Ning'er!

Why don't you tell me

what you and Xiaotian

did in the Thunder God

Forbidden Area?

What could we do?

Escape!

Ning'er!

Good Ning'er!

Just tell me.

Sister Sun.

If you talk these gossip again,

you are not cute.

I can't ask Xiaotian about that.

He is our leader.

-Miss Zhan?-Fine!

You don't need to know so much.

We are good friends.

Just tell me.

Miss Ning'er!

You come to Hu County.

Get out of the way.

Miss Ning'er!

Look.

Now I am the assistant of county magistrate.

I told you at the beginning,

what I love is who you are

instead of your family's power.

Now I am an official,

without any support of your Zhan family.

Do

I match you?

Crazy man!

Ning'er!

I really like you.

Why?

Why do you prefer to

a cunning bastard

than me?

Is he better than me?!

Old man.

Judicial Clerk Ye, you’re coming.

Show me your

best goods.

Look here.

These are latest and best.

Really?

Yeah.

What are you doing?

Give me your hand.

It's too red?

Too old-fashioned.

They are all here?

Yes, they are here.

Do you think this is beautiful?

Little leaf!

Little leaf!

Do you think this is beautiful?

Judicial Clerk Ye!

These bracelets are a pair.

Then I'll take this pair.

How much?

If you buy,

then...

3 liang.

3 liang!

Okay, thank you.

Here.

You must protect them well.

Give them

to Yingying in person.

Little leaf!

They are a pair.

How about this one?

This one?

I will wear it

for Yingying someday.

Some day?

When is it?

Nothing.

By the way, shopkeeper.

I asked you to keep some goods for me.

-Do you get it? -Yes. Yes.

Look!

That's right.

Thank you.

Besides the bracelets,

take this to Yingying.

Sorry to trouble you.

Give these to Yingying.

I know what you are thinking.

I won't let you work for free.

This...

is a small gift for you.

Take it as“thank you”reward.

What?

Don’t like it?

I tell you.

This is specially-made rouge

from Bao chun Pavilion in the capital city.

It's very nice.

How beautiful the color is!

Such flamboyant color!

How can I use it?!

Give it to me.

You’ve already given it to me.

How can you take it back?

Didn't you say the color is too flamboyant?

You can't use it?

I didn't use it before.

But I can use it later.

All right, let's go!

I'm going to send these to Yingying.

Thank you.

Judicial Clerk Ye, see you.

It is far away from here.

Safety first.

You care about me today?

Don't flatter yourself!

I am concerned about the gifts

in your package. Okay?

I won't lose the gift.

Take good care of it.

Big brother!

Big brother

I have prepared a present for you.

You are so quick. Buddy!

Come with me

to write a letter home.

And then, give it to my parents

along with your trade caravan.

Let's go.

Back to the capital city?

The opportunity has come.

Master!

Escort Li is coming.

Escort Li, please.

Master Xu.

Escort Li.

Take a seat.

Yes.

Escort Li,

I wanna ask you for help.

What is it?

Just tell me.

I will do my best.

Good.

Imperial court dress?

This is only for the mandate lady

to wear.

If ordinary people wear it,

she will commit a crime of arrogation.

You'd better know it

Do as I said.

What do you think?

This...

Escort Li

This is 200 liang.

As soon as the task is accomplished,

I'll pay you 200 liang more.

Master Xu, please rest assured.

I

will accomplish the task for you.

Everyone should

play a good role of himself.

The importance of ethics

is more important than Mount Tai.

If one oversteps his authority in local place,

the court may turn a blind eye to him.

But if one oversteps in the capital city...

Stop it.

My lord.

What’s in this box?

This...

This is the gifts presented by Master Ye,

the Judicial Clerk of our Hu County.

He is a small official.

How dare he call himself master.

Come on!

Open it.

Yes.

What is this?

Is this presented by a

a small official?

This...

These are just dresses.

Is it that serious?

What?

This is overstepping system. Do you know?

This is the dress for a fifth-rank official's mandate lady.

Bring this box to the Ministry of Rites.

Yes.

This?

What this?

I tell you.

Your master gets into trouble.

Into a big trouble.

Judicial Clerk Ye Xiaotian

under the jurisdiction of Guizhou Tongren

overstepped the system.

I have been in this position for five years.

I've never seen this kind of case before.

I really don't know how to deal with it.

Classify it to the official documents

that are going to submit to the Cabinet Grand Secretary.

Brother Zhao!

nobody is in charge of

arrogation cases.

Submit this case to the Cabinet Grand Secretary?

Doesn't it fuss?

The emperor just ascended the throne.

It is high time to make innovations.

About the rites cases,

we should deal with the case criminal one after another.

It is also a warning to others.

Put the social mode in good order.

Magistrate Official!

Stand up.

An urgent official letter comes from the capital city.

Okay, have a rest.

Come on!

Ask Assistant Xu in.

Judicial Clerk Ye!

What's the matter?

Judicial Clerk Ye!

You are in a big trouble.

What trouble?

What happened?

Your should be clear about it.

I'm sorry.

Under the order of the Ministry of Penalty,

we come to detain you right away.

Take him away.

Yes.

Wait a minute.

Xu Boyi!

What do you want to do?

What?

Do you want to resist arrest?

Lock him up.

Take away.

They are mischievous! So do you!

I want to save the leader!

-We must save the leader. -Yes.

Save what?

Do you know what happened to Big brother?

If you go to save him rashly,

even if he is innocent,

he will be sentenced to death by you.

What should we do?

We can save the big brother

and hide in the mountain.

Nobody

can find us!

Big brother has no relatives in the capital city?

Hide in the mountain? Wanna cultivate to become an immortal?

I'm going to ask for information.

Yunfei!

You can't go!

Let me do it.

I'll go.

Even a civilian

commits a crime, he will be beheaded after autumn.

Big brother is a court official.

They will not make decisions in haste.

Going to break into a jail and rescue him

is not a good idea.

After making certain what happened,

we can prepare well.

Judicial Clerk Ye!

Over the past year,

you are the most popular person in Hu County.

But one's luck

is limited.

Just like you.

Your luckiness has been run out of.

Xu Boyi!

To be honest.

I am sent to jail

because of you?

Look at you!

You must set me up behind my back.

Don't talk foolishly!

By the way,

before I took office,

someone told me that

in the officialdom

there are two kinds of people.

One kind of person is trampled by others.

What about the other kind?

If you don't want to be trampled, you have to trample others.

Do you think

I am willing to be trampled by you

after you make me lose my faces

to pray for rain on the altar ?

Do you think I fear you?

Ye Xiaotian!

You're gonna die.

Thank you very much.

I remember

what you said today.

What if you remember?

Do you think you still have a chance?

Don't say it.

I have already known about it.

Why don't you rescue him?

Does the Imperial Guard fear the Ministry of Penalty?

Who told you the Ministry of Penalty

order to arrest Ye Xiaotian?

It’s the Cabinet Grand Secretary.

Cabinet Grand Secretary?

Since the Cabinet Grand Secretary intervenes this case,

Even Official Yu, the commander of the Imperial Guard

dare not take measures.

Much less,

civil officials always despise us.

Ye Xiaotian commits the crime

of arrogation.

If no evidence can be found

to prove that he is wronged,

he will definitely die

even that his identity as an imperial guard

is made to public.

Shall we watch him die?

Of course not.

People are wronged by

us Imperial Guards all along.

Nobody can put us in the wrong.

Now the Cabinet Grand Secretary is powerful.

We can't offend him.

But...

we can take some measures.

How?

The capital city

is our territory.

I don't believe that

it’s so hard to save a person

in our own territory.

What?

Big brother will be sent to the capital city in this afternoon.

Right.

Xu Boyi did a particularly covert job.

Old Zhou got this news

with great efforts.

We can't wait any longer.

I'll go back to the mountain and transfer troops.

You are the oldest.

But you are the most immature.

Transfer troops?

You have difficulty in moving.

It will take you more than 10 days to make a round trip.

Isn’t it too late?

Besides, how many people will you send?

The more people you send,

the worse big brother will be.

What do you think we can do?

In my opinion,

let's divide into two ways.

First, I and Duoni pry into information.

Second,

Yunfei, you and Uncle Dong secretly protect big brother.

After we arrive in the capital city,

let's make next decision.

Okay!

Let's do as you said.

Yunfei.

I'll get ready.

Give me some water.

Stop!

Open the box.

Come on!

Finally I escape.

My princess!

You made great efforts to escape from Red Maple Lake.

If you delay for a while,

your family will catch up.

You're right!

Take the carriage back to Zhan Family Fort.

Yes.

Let's go to find Xiaotian!

Xiaotian, I'm coming!

Xiaotian has such a big house.

It was a wild mountain

with nothing.

Your Xiaotian

renovated here.

Now

everything is ready

but short of a hostess.

You tease me again.

Miss, who are you looking for?

Xiaotian!

Xiaotian!

Ye Xiaotian!

Ask Ye Xiaotian out!

Tell him

his sweetheart is coming.

You tease me again.

My master was arrested.

Two days ago,

my master was sent by that bastard, Xu Boyi

to the capital city.

No!

Wasn’t everything okay when I left?

What crime did he commit?

Taking bribes? Bending the law? Killing people?

Or suppressing people?

Is he always like this?

No!

Miss, don't say that.

My master is a good man.

He repaired a canal and eliminated mountain bandits.

Everyone in Hu county know he is a good official.

It is said that it was ordered by a big shot in the capital city.

Big shot?

Ning'er!

I'm going to the capital city to save Xiaotian!

Will you go?

Nonsense!

If I don't go with you,

you will go to Chang'an

with no sense of direction.

Let’s go!

My master offended the big shot.

Magistrate Hua has no way to rescue him.

The two girls

can rescue our master?

Stop!

Miss Duoni.

Turn right at the front intersection and you will find the Ministry of Penalty.

Shall we ask Official Ye to change a gharry?

Isn't there a turn away?

Why in such a hurry?

Fine!

They just want to accomplish the task

assigned by the higher-up.

Don't embarrass them.

Sorry, Official Ye.

I have no choice.

Come on!

Be careful, all of you.

If you hurt my big brother,

I'll teach you a lesson.

I will make all of you hardly keep alive.

Don't you know?

Okay.

Don't scare them.

Give them the antidote.

This is the antidote.

Hand out it. Each person take one.

Official Ye!

Please get on.

I gotta go.

Don't worry.

Big brother!

Let's go.

I told you to be careful!

Thanks to you all the way.

Otherwise my big brother would have a hard time.

These bastards!

Do they think they are mighty with the backing of Xu Boyi?

As long as I play some trick…

It's little insect.

Little insect.

As long as I use some little insect,

they can do nothing but listen to me.

Brothers!

I come back again.

Secretary Wang!

Managerial Officer Zhang!

you all here?

Ministry Councillor Liu!

Have you slept better recently?

I'm fine!

Ye Xiaotian!

Why do you get arrested?

Ye Xiaotian!

This is the place to detain high-ranking officials.

You're such a little warden.

How could you get arrested

with us?

Let me tell you!

I travelled around outside the capital city.

Now I am a big official, too.

My treatment

is just like you two.

I'll pick this room.

Anyway, we are familiar with each other.

It is convenient to talk.

Open this door.

This...

What?

You refuse me?

If I had not taken both of you

to...

No, you misunderstood us.

Boss, let me untie you.

You, you... How can you come in so easily?

This...

Boss.

What should I do?

How could I know? Don't ask me!

This...

What are you doing?

Give me a cup of tea.

Well, serve you a cup of tea.

Quickly! Quickly!

What should we do now?

Don't worry.

Big brother just told me

he knew everything in prison well.

How about this?

Let's find a place to stay,

then discuss what we can do

to rescue big brother.

Second brother!

Yunfei! Where is Uncle Dong?

He is coming. Uncle Dong.

Is big brother sent to jail safely?

What do you mean?

It sounds awkward.

Second brother, don't say that.

Okay, okay.

He is always garrulous.

Well.

Let's find a place to stay first.

And then figure a way out.

Let's go!

What do you think?

Am I brave?

Am I capable?

I became a judicial clerk

from an ordinary person.

How proud you are!

If you are really that capable,

why are you sent to jail

by someone's little trick?

This is just a small case.

You are just a small official!

I tell you.

If you aren't under the administration of Ministry of Penalty,

you are not qualified to be detained

with us.

Let me tell you!

I wandered from North to South.

I learned many tricks

and skills

from you criminals.

What I am now

due to your incapable.

What are you saying?

I tell you.

Your case is not worth mentioning!

If we were you,

we won't be sent to jail.

Frankly!

Those dresses break the rules.

But they are not imperial robes.

Is it that serious?

Academician Feng!

If we were you,

we can ask a bigwig to plead for ourselves.

It will be readily solved.

It's all bullshit.

Even if you know a bigwig,

how can you send a message to him?

The bigwig is

a common man.

Even if you don't know him,

you can seek help to his relatives

and friends.

In this way,

you will get in touch with him.

You’ve really learned nothing in the capital city for so many years.

Old Feng!

At the critical moment,

you are really helpful.

I have to think it over.

Xiaotian!

Big brother!

Big brother!

It's been so long time no see.

Is everything okay at home?

You...

What's the matter with you?
