I am Li Jianwu, the Castellan of Li Village.

We hereby swear to heaven and earth

and set up a hydrature monument here.

From now on,

no one shall be allowed to build dikes or cut off the flow

so as to block the livelihood of the downstream people.

the water level of river will drop,

and the two characters “SHUI DU” engraved on the hydrature monument will appear.

People of the two villages cannot fight for water.

Red Maple Lake

Younger sister,

don't be naughty.

You are young and ignorant.

Don't be fooled by

his sweet words.

Yingying, this is for your best!

Yingying, how good is he?

Yingying!

The day after tomorrow is the birthday of our great-grandmother.

You must attend the ceremony.

I really don't want to listen to you.

Your mouth stinks

and you spit all the time.

You!

Great-grandmother!

Great-grandmother!

Great-grandmother!

Good boys

Go to play over there.

Yes.

Good girl.

What?

It's my birthday.

You're unwilling to come?

Are you angry at me?

How dare I be angry at you?

Even I said I wouldn't go,

I will certainly attend it.

I knew it.

You have a soft heart even you take a tough stance.

When you get married someday,

with your personality,

that boy will

bully you.

Who can bully me?

I'm not getting married.

Don't you want to marry Ye Xiaotian?

Go!

Sit with me for a while over there .

Yingying.

I love you dearly.

Do you think

I will do harm to you?

I also have heard about

the Voodo Sect.

There are quite a few

strange rules.

The 20-year fate.

Do you know what this means?

Yingying.

Let me tell you.

I and your great-grandfather

have loved each other

and been together for a lifetime.

Since

he

passed away,

I have been always

feeling empty.

I feel lonely.

I am almost 100 years old.

Yingying.

If you are as old as me,

you

will be alone

for most of your lifetime.

Do you know?

Great-grandmother!

But I don't care.

I just want to be with him.

You don't care?

But I do.

Great-grandmother!

Do you remember what you told me before?

When you were young, for my great grandfather's sake,

on the lofty snow mountain...

Yes.

Right.

Yingying.

But you are my offspring.

You are my great-granddaughter.

How can I not care about you?

We all love you.

Your grandparents

and your parents

all think the same.

I would rather you hate me

then you regret

in the future.

Regret.

Do you know?

Great-grandmother!

I won't regret it.

I have considered carefully.

Besides, brother Xiaotian is so smart.

He will certainly figure out a way.

Figure out a way?

Well.

When he comes up with a solution,

we can discuss it again.

Great-grandmother!

Don't be so self-willed.

Go back to make up yourself.

Prepare to celebrate my birthday.

I want you to choose

my favorite birthday gift.

Do you understand?

Great-grandmother!

Don't get into a huff.

Do you think I really don't know

your trick of hunger strike?

You secretly get up in the middle of the night to eat.

Don't you?

Got it.

The more you eat, the fatter you will be.

Be careful if you get fat, nobody will marry you.

Hu County

Now what you need to do is

getting married and delivering babies.

You give me a baby.

I will teach him since childhood.

You!

You are a chair warmer.

I give up.

Forget it!

That family of your relative...

Dad!

They have been arrested by the mountain bandit

whose name is

One Dragon Gang.

He has been kidnapped.

It's hard to tell whether he is alive or not.

Do you know?

You want me to get married?

Forget it.

Who are you talking about?

Ministry Councillor Lin.

Is he kidnapped?

He is kidnapped.

When?

This morning.

As soon as he is kidnapped,

the trade route is cut off.

So there is no business in my shop.

Is it very normal?

Then why didn't you tell me earlier ?

Wasn't I telling you?

Everyone knows that what kind of evil person that One Dragon Gang is.

He is so cruel.

If One Dragon Gang kills the Ministry Councillor Lin,

his daughter must observe mourning.

This mourning period lasts two or three years.

Doesn't it delay you seeing your grandson?

I thought about it just now.

I'm going to suffer a little loss.

How about this?

I marry another girl

to satisfy you.

Where did you learn

to talk all these

rubbish?

No!

Dad!

I know a girl.

Her name is Duoni.

She is pretty and intelligent,

as well as beautiful and generous.

She is good at doing housework.

You will like her.

How about this?

I'll bring her to see you one day.

Let me show you.

Get out!

Dad!

Luo Daheng!

I have been waiting for this sentence for half a day.

Do you think I don't know

you hide a girl in the store?

You want to marry her?

No way!

I tell you.

A girl like her

is not allowed to enter our home.

If you want to marry her,

you must marry an honest girl as your wife.

Then Duoni can get married with you as a concubine.

Otherwise!

No way!

No way. I can go through the window.

Look at you fat body.

How can you go through the window?!

Look in the mirror.

Look at you fat body.

Don't I look like you?

I'm gonna beat you!

I tell you.

If you don't agree with me, I will run away from home.

Run away from home?

Good boy!

You're grown up, aren't you?

If you step out of this door,

don't never ever come back.

Or I will beat you to death.

-Master! Master! -You bastard.

Don't be angry.

Young lord,

stop making the master angry.

-Look, I'm going to kill you. -You are a witness.

If he doesn't fit his deeds to his words,

he will be bastard.

-Master! -Promise me. Luo Baichuan.

Please don't be angry.

Don't be angry.

This son of a bitch.

Ministry Councillor Lin has been kidnapped by One Dragon Gang.

Do you know?

Conflicts arise between people on our own side.

No way.

I have to find him

And let him release Mr. Lin.

Come back.

Do it carefully.

Make it look like Ministry Councillor Lin

slips away by himself.

Boyi!

You will go to Hu county to be an official.

Try to use the methods in officialdom to solve problems.

If you really meet something you can't deal with,

go to the Longmen Inn in the east of the city

and send a message to Shopkeeper Qu.

At that time, someone will meet you.

You can use his strength.

One Dragon Gang on the Jiugong Mountain.

I am Xu Boyi.

Nice to meet you, Boss Long.

Our boss is not available.

Tell me if you have something important.

Look.

This is a wanted poster issued by

the Provincial Court in Guiyang.

This is Boss Long's portrayal.

It looks just like you.

Could you be possibly

his twin brother?

Boss Long,

please rest assured.

I really have something important to discuss with you.

For this thing,

Shopkeeper Qu from the Longmen Inn

acts as the middleman.

Just take it easy.

I don't know

what I can do for you?

I

want you to deal with someone.

Of course.

I’ll give you benefits.

Who?

Ye Xiaotian, the Judicial Clerk in Hu County.

You want me to kill him?

No! No! No!

Kill him?

Killing him cannot

show my ability.

I am the County Magistrate Assistant.

As for materials transported through the county,

whether they are official or private,

I know it very well.

By then, I can tell you the details of these goods,

the number of guards,

and the time for departure and arrival.

I can tell you all of these.

After you plunder these goods and money,

as the Judicial Clerk,

Ye Xiaotian will be unable to solve the case within the stipulated time.

So I will have a reason to punish him.

By the time,

the money you take away

will all belong to you.

I will never interfere.

How is it?

Deal!

If you have any news,

send it to the Longmen Inn.

I will receive it.

Judicial Clerk Ye!

You are in charge of security.

Our county is not peaceful.

There are many rampant bandits.

Do you have anything to say?

I have nothing to say.

What is your attitude、

Lord Xu, you are right.

So I have nothing to say.

I tell you.

You must eliminate bandits within half a month.

Otherwise, you will get punished.

It's all right?

I'm going to arrange it.

I must bring Hu County under my control.

No one can stop me from being successful in my official career.

My lord.

Look at this.

It seems One Dragon Gang did this.

One Dragon Gang?

These people make a living by robbing along post roads.

They are cruel.

They never obey by morality and justice.

The government has suppressed them several times.

But these people

come and go freely on mountain forests.

So we leave them unsettled.

Xu Boyi takes advantage of these people

to deal with me.

Maybe he is going to defeat me by this matter.

We can find their base

and eliminate them once for all.

This place is extremely dangerous.

Remember safety first.

Okay!

Why are you here?

Big brother.

What's the matter?

Big brother, I

have run away from home.

If you don't take me in,

I will have nowhere

to go in such a big world.

Your father?

Is he okay?

No, big brother.

I quarreled with my father.

Then I ran away from home.

For what?

My father insisted that I must marry

a daughter of a Ministry Councillor.

I don't like her.

That's the reason?

Big brother.

You will take me in, right?

What did you say?

My house is constructed

with your help.

I am your big brother.

My home is your home.

I knew that you would not refuse me.

You are my brother.

I am your big brother?

But you have a blood relation with your father.

Do you know?

You bastard!

Your father loves you so much.

He has brought up you from a little baby by himself.

He gives you everything you need.

He knows you like Osmanthus Jelly.

He also finds Tao Tao

to make Osmanthus Jelly for you.

You know how much your father loves you?

Your father wants you to get married and start your career.

Isn't it good for you?

Big brother!

I understand these.

But I just don't like

The daughter of the Ministry Councillor.

If you don't like, talk with your father.

Forget it!

You can stay here for two days.

But we must make clear beforehand.

You have to go home in a few days

and apologize to your father.

Let’s go!

I'll make Osmanthus Jelly for you.

Big brother, I love you.

Stay away from me!

Hu County yamen

Sorry, Your Excellencies,

I am late.

Please forgive me.

Judicial Clerk Ye, please sit down.

Bandits have been rampant recently.

Businessmen feel uneasy.

We are local officials.

We can't ignore it.

Your Excellency, don't worry.

I have found out that it was

the great robber, One Dragon Gang

that killed those people.

It doesn't matter who did it.

The important thing is to arrest him.

Such a big case happened in our county.

I am very anxious.

But I have been weak in these days.

I am out of breath if I walk far.

This, this...

I feel so weak.

Judicial Clerk Ye, sorry to trouble you.

I am the Judicial Clerk.

I am duty-bound to arrest criminals and thieves.

But the One Dragon Gang

is not an ordinary thief.

He is a great robber who has roamed the mountain forests

for more than ten years.

Only with our officers,

I am unable to do what you hope to do.

Judicial Clerk Ye!

How can you say that?

We all get salary from the Imperial Court.

We have the duty to keep people safe.

We cannot shrink back

from difficulties, right?

Lord Xu, what you said

is really impassioned

and powerful.

I admire you so much.

But my words carry little weight.

Why don't you take charge of this case?

What do you think?

Judicial Clerk Ye!

You know I am weak.

I am willing to but unable.

This case is very serious.

If I need the help of military forces of the Inspection Department

and strong civilians…

I will get them to fully cooperate with you.

Good．

If so,

I am willing to take charge of the case.

Whether it is a success or a failure,

I will take all the responsibility.

Good.

Then please allow me to leave.

Roasted chicken!

Roasted chicken!

It is on fire!

Why are you looking at me?

I tell you.

The chicken roasted by me is very delicious!

Yes, yes, sure!

Duoni!

I

wanna ask you a question.

You have lived in the mountains for so long.

There are so many young men.

Has somebody courted you?

Of course.

I am the most beautiful girl in the village.

Then you have a lover?

I don't.

Because I have a high taste.

I don't care for any of them.

That's good.

That's good.

Big brother,

I have already sent the news to Longmen Inn.

One Dragon Gang will soon see it.

I believe he will find a way to release Mr. Lin.

You can rest assured.

Hasn't that bastard come back?

The door is not close.

Is there a thief?

Is anybody home?

Young lord.

You're back.

Why don't you close the door?

The master specially ordered

to leave the door open for you.

I...

He said you are fat.

It will be too hard for you to climb the wall.

He is right.

Go, go, go!

Isn't this our hot-tempered young man?

Didn't you run away from home?

Come back to pick up something?

It has nothing to do with these.

Dad!

I want to talk to you.

About what?

About wife.

Whose wife?

My wife.

Why do you talk to me about your wife?

Dad!

Marriage is always

arranged by one's parents.

I understand it.

You want me to be happy

to marry a girl.

I know.

I know you love me.

Dad!

But good intentions do not mean good deeds.

I haven't even seen Miss Lin.

How can you make sure that she is a good wife?

With your personality,

you must have sent someone to inquire about her.

Miss Lin is indeed a good wife.

Isn't she?

But how can you guarantee that she likes me

and I like her too?

I know you're going to mention Duoni.

As soon as you mention her, you will say she comes from an average family.

That's right.

She is an ordinary girl.

But the founding queen

also comes from an average family, right?

She can be a queen

and manages the imperial harem well.

I know you would say

Duoni has been abandoned by her parents.

Dad!

I know that.

But she is not underbred at all.

Dad, I want to talk to you.

I really don't understand why

you ask me to marry Miss Lin.

Because of money?

Lin Family is rich.

Dad!

But we are not poor.

If it is because of money,

I disagree with you more.

If you like Miss Lin,

you can marry her.

Don't let me do it.

I don't understand

this is my wife.

Why do you make the decision for me?

I know it's no use to make rules.

You will definitely t let me get out.

No problem.

Good.

But I am such an excellent son.

You can have another one if you can.

You let me get out, right?

I will get out.

It's dark.

Let me take a light.

You.

Who is knocking?

It's so late at night.

Why disturb my dream?

Uncle Dong.

The door is over there.

Okay, I'll open the door.

It's so late.

Why do you look like this?

Big brother.

I am really homeless now.

If you don't take me in,

I will have nowhere

to go in such a big world.

Come in.

Don’t stand here.

Thank you, big brother.

Big brother.

You’re back.

How about this?

Take a seat.

Big brother.

The stockaded village of One Dragon Gang

is designed so well.

In front of the village is a dense forest.

There are many intrigues.

And this side,

On this side and this side are all marshes.

It is very dangerous to attack by force.

This is the only entrance for the whole village.

There is a guard post

and an watchtower.

On both sides of the watchtower are lasso

and traps.

These villagers

know the surrounding terrain very well.

If we take a sneak attack

at night,

they will find us if there is any movement.

We must suffer losses.

If we take a sneak attack by daylight,

if they know we have a few people,

they will inevitably launch a sharp counterattack.

If they know that we have many people,

they will hide themselves in these marshes.

We have nowhere to find them.

Is there anything you can do

to make certain of the scope of the marsh.

It's hard.

It will take at least three to five days

to make it certain.

If there is another way out in the marsh,

and we investigate in the dark,

it will cost more than eight or ten years.

How about the intrigues in the forest?

Are they difficult to eliminate?

Big brother,

don't you forget that I used to be a hunter?

As long as I am careful,

it will be fine.

Since we cannot outwit them,

we have to take it by force.

But I'm worried about those strong people and constables.

They are not rivals of these bandits at all.

Duoni!

Duoni, let me give you a kiss! Duoni!

Let me kiss you, Duoni.

Let me give you a kiss!

By the way, big brother.

I think Chiliarch Jia

can do us a favor.

Right!

How can I forget him?

I am one of the Imperial Guard. I earned it.

Taking the blame for others

must be done by the Imperial Guard.

My Lord!

Don't hesitate any more.

Please make a quick decision.

I think

we should report it to the Prefectural Magistrate Zhang in Tongren.

Ask him to dispatch some officers and soldiers here.

If this is not enough,

we can report to the Provincial Court

and Provincial Governor

as well as ask Guizhou Army Command Center

to send officers and soldiers here.

My Lord!

If so,

a lot of time will be wasted.

During this period of time,

One Dragon Gang's troops

are likely to transfer. Right?

Even if they are still here,

when we make so big action,

won’t they notice it?

These bandits are not ordinary thieves.

With our county's troops,

it is difficult to bring them to justice.

If we fail to arrest them,

but lose military strength,

how can we explain to my superiors?

My Lord!

We send troops to suppress bandits.

If we lose, we will be proud of it.

Maybe One Dragon Gang will be frightened by us,

and he won't be so rampant in the future.

But if we miss the opportunity,

One Dragon Gang will continue to do evil in Hu County.

As time goes by,

the squires in Hu County won’t be able to bear it anymore.

They will report it to the Prefectural Magistrate.

At that time, what should you do?

This...

Fine!

Send troops!

I will sign an order right away.

You and Patrol Luo discuss

to recruit a group of strong young man from our county.

Success or failure

depends upon this movement.

Yes, my lord.

Be careful.

The same to you.

Big brother,

here it is.

Thanks to this buddy,

Otherwise, we cannot get through

these barriers ahead.

Everybody should be careful!

If we want to catch the leader of One Dragon Gang

and rescue Ministry Councillor Lin,

we must be quick.

Once the task starts,

everybody must do his own duty

and quickly advance into the village.

If there are rebels,

kill them.

Yes, sir!

How about Chiliarch Jia?

Don't worry.

He mobilized the secret spies from the Imperial Guards.

He will take actions before us

to buy us some time.

That's good.

Otherwise,

this group of ineffective troops

who are going to suppress bandits

will be suppressed first

Rush into the village

and kill Long Lingyun!

Kill them all!

Yes!

Go!

Charge!

Go!

Withdraw!

Go!

Chiliarch Jia!

All of us have returned safely.

Is there anybody hurt or dead?

Nobody.

Good.

Since they have found Ministry Councillor Lin,

let’s leave the rest

to the state office to wind up.

Let’s go!

This is Long Lingyun?

The leader of One Dragon Gang?

That's right.

It's him.

But...

who killed him?

Maybe he was killed by another bandit.

People like him

must have many enemies.

So Patrol Luo…

This credit?

Listen to me, everyone.

You are not afraid to sacrifice yourselves and surmount difficulties

to break into the bandits' base.

After a fierce battle,

you killed the leader, Long Lingyun.

Thanks to the blessing of Magistrate Hua.

Everyone deserves a reward.

Everyone deserves a reward.

Thank you, Judicial Clerk Ye.

Thank you, Patrol Luo!

Yunfei!

Go find Ministry Councillor Lin quickly!

Big brother!

I found him.

You must be Ministry Councillor Lin.

Yes, I am.

Don't panic.

I am Ye Xiaotian, the Judicial Clerk in Hu County.

I am ordered by Magistrate Hua

to suppress bandits.

You're finally here!

Help him up!

Ministry Councillor Lin.

I doubt there are

remaining bandits in the mountain.

You can be with us.

Let's escort you back to Hu County.

Thank you, Lord Ye.

You saved my life.

I will never forget your kindness.

You're welcome.

It is my duty to suppress bandits.

Go back.

Let’s go!

You succeed in suppressing the bandits led by Long Lingyun.

How meritorious you are!

My lord, thanks to your wise arrangement.

How can we take credit for your achievement?

Apple polisher!

I have prepared a banquet

to celebrate your success.

My Lord!

Ask someone to count the people

and verify the bandits.

Cut off the heads of Long Lingyun and other leaders to display them to the public.

Yes!

My Lord!

Please!

Big brother!

Magistrate Hua is holding a banquet in a restaurant

to celebrate for Ye Xiaotian.

The heads of Long Lingyun and others

are already hanged on the city wall.

One Dragon Gang

is not as good as a worm.

Ye Xiaotian suppressed his village just with

several constables and civilians.

His head was cut off!

Big brother!

You have made a lot efforts

to persuade One Dragon Gang into serving us.

Now he is

dead so easily.

Dog meat!

He is the dog meat after all.

It cannot make a big difference.

A bandit is unable to make a big difference.

Never mind.

Now the Heavenly King has

formed an alliance with the Tian Family.

The County Magistrate Assistant,

Xu Boyi

is a hanger-on of the Tian Family.

As long as he controls Hua Qingfeng,

he will control the Hu County.

If so,

that means the Heavenly King controls Hu County.
