What sounds incredible today,

was a century ago

The Mescalero Apaches were friendly
towards the white man.

But their doom was inevitable.
For they had what the invaders craved:

land and gold.

Gold which was taken from its hiding place
and given to the tribe as needed,

by only Intschu tschuna, the Chief.
Or by his son, Winnetou.

Winnetou... friend and protector of all
who needed help.

His name lived in every tent,
at every campfire.
