I'd like to inform you that we've decided
Ms. Beatriz Rincon will be the new president of V&M.
What?
I need you to supervise Betty's work.
I'm leaving!
PREVIOUSLY...
Yes, I quit!
Ms. Marcela, you're not going anywhere until we talk.
Do you think I'll forget all the lies you told me?
I made a mistake. That's why I'm here.
What about you becoming Armando's lover?
I know I'm guilty of that, but he lied to me.
-He manipulated me. -What if Armando seeks you out?
No, I want nothing to do with Mr. Armando.
He's always loved you.
Stay in the company and help us get past this situation.
I assure you I'll stay as far away from him as possible.
-What are you doing here? -I think we need to talk.
I have nothing to say to you.
Well, maybe you have nothing to say to me,
but you do with the new president of V&M.
Now that I think about it, I do have something to say.
I quit.
Listen, you can control every mind in New York,
but you'll never control the Divine Hugo.
-I'm leaving. -No!
Are you leaving because you're afraid of me...
or because I'm the new president of the company?
What did you say?
You heard me.
I respect your work very much.
You're talking to a living legend of fashion, child.
Don't you dare insinuate I'm afraid of you!
Okay, but tell me, Mr. Hugo,
how would you like a living legend of fashion
to be remembered?
As the designer who bet on V&M
and launched the first successful pret-a-porter line?
Or... as the designer who had to sell his collection
to Mogollon's Market?
Am I interrupting?
-Hi, Mom. -What are you up to?
Finishing up a proposal
to go after new markets on the west coast, Canada, and Mexico.
We need money urgently.
-Son. -Yes?
Do you think your father did the right thing?
I voted in favor, but I wasn't very convinced.
That young lady...
Yes, I know, Mom. I know you don't like Beatriz.
Believe me, Dad did the right thing.
Beatriz is the best candidate for the job.
Are you sure?
After everything you and her as your accomplice did,
I don't think it's very safe for you to be working together.
She wasn't my accomplice. She was my victim.
Don't worry, though. She and I won't get involved.
Beatriz hates me. She doesn't even want me near her.
Very well. I won't bring that up anymore.
There's something else that worries me.
Smith is convinced Ines was responsible for the theft of Hugo's designs.
I've known Ines for a long time. She's an exemplary employee.
She would never do anything like that.
I agree. I don't know where Smith came up with such nonsense.
He claims he received some e-mails that implicate her
and make it seem she's responsible.
Someone set her up.
Mom, please let me look into it.
Fabio won't stop texting me.
He wants to do lunch, but can't make up his mind.
First steak, then sushi, now pasta. I don't get him.
I'm constantly on the phone because of him.
He's so annoying.
You don't owe me any explanations.
Do you have a problem with me, Ines?
-Me? No, not at all. -I'm asking.
But I have noticed you seem restless and anxious lately.
As if you were hiding something.
-Me? -Uh-huh.
-Whatever. -Inesita.
Please get me the sketches I worked on in spring.
Right away.
Manhattan hasn't seen what I'm capable of yet.
My designs thus far are just a prologue to what I'll do.
Thank you.
Do you need anything else?
I'm going to connect with the gods on Mount Olympus.
Huguito, I'm sorry to bother you but I'd love to help.
Is there anything I can do for you?
Can't you seeing I'm starting to be possessed by my muses?
I design alone.
You can get me a glass of water if you want.
Okay.
Marce!
I mean, the ex-troll won't stop bossing me around.
You'll do everything she asks, Patricia.
But I don't want to. I don't want to!
Can't you see that she's an evil genius?
This was her plan all along.
She pretended to be an ugly, geeky, tasteless woman
so she could tell her friends from her enemies.
It was all planned!
Of course not.
Her change was due to other reasons.
Doesn't matter. That's the least of it.
The point here is that we're screwed, Marcela.
She's going to get rid of us because we bullied her a lot.
She's going to get back at us. It's called a vendetta.
I want you to work like you normally would
and for you to earn her trust.
No, no. That's not fair.
I'm prettier.
She shouldn't be the one ordering me around.
You should be the boss.
Patricia,
I need someone to work for me
and spy on Beatriz.
To be with her day and night.
Marce, do you have a plan in mind?
-Uh-huh. -Oh, my!
Tell me.
Listen closely. Go to her office...
-Hi. -Oh, no.
What? What do you want?
-Open the door. -No, no!
-You're not coming in here! -What? Why?
You kicked me out of your house yesterday. Today I'm kicking you out of mine.
-No... -No, no!
You don't get to humiliate me anymore!
I'm not here to humiliate you.
Love bug, I want us to talk like two civilized
and very human adults.
Know what I mean?
I mean, we're past the homo sapiens age.
What do you want?
To talk to you.
And... to apologize.
I want to apologize because... I miss you, love bug.
I love you.
Hold on. I can't hear you.
What's gotten into you and made you change your mind so fast?
You turned me down yesterday. Yes, you turned me down.
You were nasty.
-No... -Yes, you were.
But now you adore me?
Why?
Because I do, love bug.
I realized... that ever since you left...
I can't hear you!
Ever since you left the house...
I feel... alone.
-Of course. -I feel so alone because...
this very successful doll who loves...
the good life,
needs her Ken.
Someone who'll say, "Doll, I'm here.
I'm here to please you."
But...
Love bug, do you think someone like me
can have the chance to tell you
good morning every morning
and kiss you after waking up?
-Hold on. -And look into your eyes...
Hold on. So now I am a good lover?
A bull.
-A chicken. -A chicken?
No, no.
-A bat. -A bat?
A gorilla!
Yes, a gorilla! What do gorillas do?
No, that's a monkey.
A silver back.
No, Cheetah. Open the door, Cheetah.
A cheetah? I'm a huge gorilla.
Okay, but gorillas are very virile.
-Yes, that's right. -Gorillas are virile.
Wait while I get the door. I'm going to give you a chance.
Don't move or I'll drop the keys.
-Open here. -I'm going, I'm going.
Let me... I can't find the...
Let's see.
Be careful. Be careful with my leg.
Your stud is right here.
You Cheetah.
And you're wearing red...
Love bug! Oh, God!
Love bug!
Oh, love bug, now I know why you said you were a gorilla.
I love that you're a gorilla with me!
Love bug, you're my gorilla, my Tarzan.
Who has the best loincloth? You do, don't you, babe?
What'd you think of my performance?
I love it. Do the gorilla.
-A gorilla? -Yes.
I caught a cold and I have to...
What is she doing here?
Well, this is Jenny. She's my woman, isn't she?
She has to be wherever I am.
What? What do you want?
Yes, we're back together. Is that what you wanted to know?
I'm going to make him extremely happy.
Is that clear?
Not like other saggy people who only have flab to offer.
So you're back together?
Congratulations, man.
Your love bug will wring every last penny she can out of you.
But let's talk about what really matters.
What happened with the rat poison vendor?
The rat poison?
What happened?
Our line was canceled because you didn't pay them.
I had to pay for our supply upfront and we're in the red.
Did you forget to pay them?
How would I know?
I had a near fatal accident, remember?
I lost my memory. I don't remember any of that.
I mean, I don't even know what you're talking about.
What are you...?
Come on. Come on, love bug.
I need to rest my memory and my leg.
I need someone who'll love me...
-Your fly. -Huh?
Your fly.
Why are you looking at that?
-Let's go. -Let's go, honey.
You're beautiful and pretty.
You're not like those fat, bitter hags.
-I love you. -Me too. Get the door for me.
Straight to bed with you.
No, no. No, Deme.
I've been in bed for days.
I'm sick of being in bed.
Let me sit here.
Julia, you can't strain yourself.
Stop worrying, honey.
The doctor was very clear.
I need to lead a calm, peaceful and stress-free life.
But I also need to strengthen my heart and walk. I need to walk more.
Above all, I need to lead a normal life.
I know what I should and shouldn't eat.
Stop treating me like I'm dying.
Hand me my phone and tablet. I want to talk to my little girl.
Julia... see how you do worry needlessly?
Don't bother Betty on her first day as president.
She must have a lot of work.
She'll fill us in on what happened tonight.
Oh, Lord, please protect her
from the many vultures that surround her.
Hi, Betty!
I need to talk to you.
I've been thinking that you and me should patch things up.
You know, bury the hatchet, smoke the peace pipe.
I never really had a problem with you.
Betty, please.
We both know we had a lot of problems... in the past.
And the past should stay in the past, right?
I've been thinking and aside from being your assistant,
I'd also really like... to be your friend.
My friend?
I know exactly why you're saying all this.
You're afraid I'll fire you.
Don't worry, though. That won't happen.
-Really? -Uh-huh.
Oh, you just took a huge weight off my shoulders.
It's great to know you appreciate my skills.
I mean, I did three semesters of Finance at DUI.
That's great.
I also think I'll be able to help you with other things.
I could... keep you informed.
Informed? Of... what?
Of everything.
Of everything that happens at V&M, Betty.
For instance, there's Marcela's suicide attempt.
You didn't know? She swallowed a ton of pills
because of what happened between... you and Armando.
It... was horrible!
If it weren't for Armando, we'd all be looking sharp in black
and we'd be burying poor Marce.
And... is she okay?
Yes. I mean, she says she's strong, but she has suffered a lot.
I can tell you because I'm her best friend.
She's more stable now.
She's very happy now that she and Armando are back together.
Oh! Well, that's great.
Yes, Armand begged and apologized to her repeatedly.
He got on his knees and apologized for what happened...
Well, we both know what happened.
After that, the press and media got wind of it
and they even posted it on social media.
Look.
I forgot to hit "like".
Hmm, I hope they do get married.
I bought a dress a year ago and I'm in no position to be throwing away my money.
-Patricia. -What is it, girlfriend?
Why don't we get back to work? It's what we should be doing.
Okay!
Yes, boss. Whatever you say.
I'm going to make you some of my coffee.
It'll help you do a better job.
You spoke with Betty?
Yes. Why are you so surprised?
Well, you didn't want her back at the company
and now you're so calm. What changed your mind?
Why aren't you throwing things at me or yelling at me?
You must think I'm some psychotic lunatic because I changed my mind, don't you?
Well, I wouldn't call you a psychotic lunatic,
but you are very intense.
And you hate Betty with a passion.
Are you protecting her from me?
No.
At this stage in the game, you know Betty can defend herself.
She doesn't need me.
Do you need her?
Okay, okay!
I won't bother you with any more questions.
Yes, Armando, I spoke with Beatriz.
She said she returned to the company just to save it
and that she'll leave once our finances are stable.
Just like you said.
See?
Are you finally convinced there's nothing going on
between Betty and me?
When it comes to you and her, I'll never be fully sure.
Are you telling me having her so close doesn't affect you?
Listen, you know what?
I'm done trying to convince you
that the only thing Betty and I have in common is this company.
What?
Attempted suicide?
No one would believe that. She looks so strong.
She really is in love with Mr. Armando.
Of course.
This is all my fault, Nicolas.
They called off their wedding because of me.
I feel terrible.
There's no reason to.
Hello!
Did you ask to see me, Betty? Do you need anything?
Yes. You're familiar with Gaddi's, right?
Obviously! It's my favorite restaurant!
It's super top. Very top.
Although not all of my memories of the place are good.
Anyway, would you like to make a reservation?
No, I'd like to request catering for seven.
I'll pay for it with my personal credit card.
Are you meeting some executives?
No. I want to treat my friends.
The girls from the Squad.
The Squad?
Eating a Gaddi's meal?
Beatriz invited all of her ugly, fat friends of the Squad...
but not me!
You have to be ready, Patricia.
That woman wants to humiliate us all.
So did you already do as I asked?
Yes, I did.
I told her about your suicide attempt.
-Great. -I exaggerated a bit
so she'd pity you, and she believed me.
I also showed her the picture of you and Armando that's online.
Very, very, very good, Patricia!
I want to keep her as far away from Armando as possible.
She has to keep thinking this is all a lie.
Yes, but I think Beatriz became pretty and sophisticated
so she could take Armando away from you again.
Who asked you?
Do your job!
Have you called to order the food like Beatriz asked you to?
What?
I thought you were going to stop her, Marce!
How am I supposed to stop her, Patricia?
She gave you her personal credit card, right?
If she wants to show off to her friends, so be it.
Remember your dignity.
I'll treat you to a salad. You're dieting.
What?
Long live the Squad!
Bottoms ups!
Hugo, I'd like to talk to you for a moment.
Get out of here.
Don't you see that the Divine Hugo
is being possessed by the gods of Mount Olympus?
I'm working on my magnum opus.
Why don't you go pick out bugs from that hairy beast's hair?
I'd like to leave that in the past.
Yes, you'd love to forget it,
but you were the one who put her on top.
Hugo, I heard about what's going on with Inesita.
I know she's being blamed for the theft of the previous line.
Go on.
You and I both know she's innocent.
It's absurd to suspect her,
so I want to know if you suspect someone else.
Am I missing an eye?
I'm not Columbo. I don't solve cases.
My genius consists of making the beautiful sublime.
It's just that nothing like this had ever happened at V&M.
And... I personally know each of our employees,
but there's one person I can't vouch for.
It's the woman who's working with you, Fabio's sister.
Look, Armie, I believe that instead of naming names
we should find evidence.
If we don't have everything we need,
Inesita will pay the consequences.
No, I won't let that happen.
That's why I'm here asking for your opinion.
Do you really not suspect anyone else?
Not even the woman I mentioned?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Hold on.
My dearest Betty,
on behalf of the girls of the Squad and myself,
I'd like to thank you for this treat!
That's right, Inesita!
Well, thank you, girls.
It's great to see you're happy and enjoying yourselves.
I'm hosting this lunch to thank you for your friendship.
You are the best friends ever. I love you all.
Oh!
But I also want you to help me
during my brief tenure as V&M's president.
What?
You're not staying?
No. No, this is only temporary.
But I want to do my very best.
I don't want to disappoint V&M or you,
so I have to ask you to behave.
-Right. -Don't fight.
Right.
Don't do things you shouldn't. Can we agree on that?
-Yes. -Can you help me with that?
-Yes, of course. -You got it, Betty.
-Sofia. -Get ready, girl.
-Sofia... -Yes, that's what I tell them.
-Aura Maria. -I promise.
The rest of you?
Betty, we promise you won't get any complaints about us.
We're going to be angels.
-Now let's get to the interesting bit. -Yes, yes.
Why were you made president? What's going on at V&M?
Why are you and the bosses being so mysterious?
I'd also like to know why everyone here
looks like they're in a horror movie.
Are we going bankrupt? Are we getting fired?
What's going on?
No, no. Not at all.
You're not being fired and we're not bankrupt.
I assure you that so long as I'm here you'll always get your salary.
I promise you will always get paid on time.
Like I said before, I want to do the best job I can do.
-Let's give it our all. -Yes.
With respect to the other thing, I can't tell you yet.
But when this is all over,
I promise you'll be the first to know what happened.
Right now, focus on doing your job as best you can
-and work as a team. -Yes.
So you're not going to tell us why you were in Miami
with the famous designer Joaquin de Quiroz?
No... How do you know about that?
Is he a good kisser? He has nice lips.
Tell us.
Would he hold you tight when you hugged?
Those losers!
Marce, look at her!
That's her third slice of cheesecake.
The new president is so wrong. Look at what she's doing!
She filled the conference room with calories and crass women.
Get ready, Patricia. This is only the beginning.
The food looks delicious.
Marce, I'm hungry! Take me out to eat!
Please, please! Take me somewhere.
No, Patricia. I'm only having an apple.
Settle down, Snow White. What do you mean by an apple?
I hate you, fatso!
I'm so angry! I'm hungry!
Betty, did anything happen with that hunk?
-Yes or no? -Tell us.
No!
-What? -I already told you.
He and I worked together alongside Ms. Catalina.
We worked on the launch of his new line, the runway show,
and the opening of his store. That's it.
It was an incredible experience, he's very sweet, but that's it.
-I don't believe you. -That's it.
No, Betty. Come on!
Why are you so tight lipped?
Why can't you give us any details?
Why can't you say something that will reveal what we want to know?
I think Hugo knows him,
but he doesn't really like his designs.
I bet he does, and I'm sure he doesn't.
They have very different ideas.
Joaquin is all about natural beauty.
He wants to showcase women.
Mr. Hugo has a different... view on aesthetics.
He tends to be classical and Eurocentric.
Yes, that's right.
I just had an idea.
What is it?
Let's do a reading.
Mariana, you know I don't believe in that.
But it believes in you.
Do the reading! Do the reading!
Quit pestering her.
If she doesn't want to do it, drop it.
Just a quick reading. It won't take five minutes.
Go for it. What have you got to lose?
Alright.
Ask a question.
What will my presidency be like?
Why don't you ask about your love life? Love is nicer and more interesting.
Alright, let's do love.
Okay. Very good.
Okay.
Oh! What?
-Betty! -What?
The King of Wands is in your past.
He's a dark skinned, strong-willed man.
The King of Cups appears in your future.
He's an artist and a sensitive man.
The Lovers are in your present.
Strong bonds of love.
Then there's the Two of Pentacles.
Oh, I know! I know this, Betty!
These are your two boyfriends.
The one from your past, Nicolas,
and your new boyfriend, the amazing designer.
Betty, I think you're going to have to make a choice.
You won't be able to decide with your head
but with your heart.
Someone is trying to implicate Inesita in the theft of the previous collection.
The truth should be easily discovered.
Daniel Valencia is behind it all, I'm telling you.
Yeah, but we have no evidence.
Someone obviously had to have infiltrated
Hugo's department to get that information.
Do you suspect anyone else other than Inesita?
Hugo believes it had to have been someone very close to him.
Romina, Fabio's sister.
Romina, Fabio's sister?
Is that possible?
Well, she had access to the information
and I don't suspect our employees.
So what are you going to do?
If Daniel was somehow involved, Romina will tell us.
Well? Do you have the money?
No, but you have made new enemies for yourself.
They are harsh, influential and powerful.
Is that so? Who are they?
I told you not to mess with my bosses, didn't I?
Let me tell you something.
People you'd never want to meet are tired, fed up and don't like you.
They don't plan on giving you another dime. So please drop it.
You're trying to scare me. You want me to leave.
Do you think I'm an idiot?
Look,
things are very heated and I'd hate for them to get worse.
Don't worry.
You can bring me the money next time we meet.
If you don't, I'll talk to your bosses.
Hey!
You're pushing your luck, sweetheart.
I'm the one making the threats around here.
And I follow through.
Take care.
You did what I asked?
Yes, I tried to negotiate with her, sir.
Those weren't your orders, Mata.
Do I have to settle this myself?
No, not at all.
This opportunist is just after money.
I think we'd save ourselves a lot of trouble, hassle, and problems
if we simply paid her off.
We'll always have the same problem with that woman!
Today she demands one sum, tomorrow another, and then another.
Listen closely, Mata.
If you mess up, you'll be the one who disappears.
Who is the man in this picture with Beatriz?
He's too attractive to be dating someone like her.
He can't be her boyfriend, Marce.
No, shut up.
This is... Joaquin de Quiroz.
The Spanish designer?
Oh, wow!
You should check out his new collection.
It's divine!
And so is he.
I thought he was fat and ugly.
In his heyday, he was an underwear model.
He can't be Beatriz's boyfriend!
No! No, he's not her boyfriend.
This is another of Beatriz's lies.
Like everything about her. She's a liar.
I know Joaquin.
He's a bitter, ridiculous man.
I'm sorry, but he can't be that annoying.
He's very handsome, he's a millionaire
and he makes beautiful clothes for women like me!
He should be dating a woman like me,
not a transformer like her.
Did you say you knew him, Marce?
Uh-huh.
What I don't understand is why they were in Miami together.
Let's see.
There are so many files.
If Charly sees what I've taken, he'll kill me.
Why did you lock yourself in? Come on in.
I was on the phone. I'm done now.
Gentlemen.
I need you to give us your best smile and a big hug.
Yeah?
We just worked out a deal with the city.
You've just received a check for a quarter of a million dollars.
How much, Peter?
A quarter of a million dollars, Frank.
To compensate you for your fall.
If you don't mind, that is.
I hope he doesn't mind. I wouldn't mind.
Do you mind?
No, no.
Hold on.
I was just given a quarter of a million dollars?
250,000... dollars?
-That's right. -For me?
So I'm rich?
-You're rich. -You're rich.
I'm rich! I'm rich!
I'm rich!
Really?
I'm rich!
I'm rich! Rich!
There.
Frank, let's get a selfie, please.
Could you take our picture, please?
-Your picture? -Please.
Do it!
Efrain, please hold the check.
There.
That's it?
Now that the formalities are over, here's your check
and the best wishes from the city.
That's my pen.
Wait, wait!
I'm sorry, but I think we're a little short.
We took the liberty of deducting our fees.
What's a small percentage for a rich man such as yourself?
Thank you.
Yes, you're right.
Yeah, but how much is a small percentage?
Thank you for trusting our law firm.
If you have an accident at City Hall, call us.
-Right, Frank? -Call us.
-Thank you. -We'll represent you.
Finally!
After days weathering the storm, the sun has finally come out.
Almost a quarter of a million dollars!
And it's mine! Mine!
A quarter of a million dollars for me! Let's go.
The money belongs to you, your sons,
and your ex-wife who's helped you so much.
Yes, she helped me a lot.
She helped herself to cheating on me with a bad friend. That's how.
Don't go there because you've messed up too.
Instead, consider investing that money.
The business needs a lot of things.
Right, so you're trying to see what you get out of me.
You're a traitor.
You're not going to see a cent of this money.
You can keep Sofia, this dump, and the roaches.
-Feast on them. -That's enough, Efrain.
I'll take you up on that.
But when Jenny leaves you penniless,
don't come crawling back pretending you've lost your memory.
This money is a lot more than what Jenny could ever spend.
A quarter of a million dollars.
See you never, you bad friend!
You're poor.
What are you doing, Beatriz?
Mr. Daniel, I didn't know you had made an appointment.
I'm here to talk to V&M's president, not you.
Where is he?
You're looking at her.
I'm the new president of V&M.
Hi!
Betty en New York isn't just about Betty.
It's also the story of other women
who, upon overcoming obstacles, have recognized their worth,
their strength, and what they're capable of.
Today's Behind the Scenes shows you another side of this story.
The best part of this show
is that about 80% or 90% of the story lines center around women.
They all share a very interesting inner strength.
This story allowed women to be normal.
We're showing the audience women's roles.
I don't need a man to solve my problems and pay for my expenses.
I have myself.
Something that really makes me proud
to be a part of Betty en New York
is the idea that this show dignifies and exemplifies
the problems that women deal with in society
and how we've addressed them in very real and respectful ways.
I feel like in one way or another,
we can all relate to the things that our characters say.
That's one of the things I admire most about this show
and that I'm really happy it has been highlighted.
Not being messed about our weight, I was hired despite my short hair.
We didn't stick to these archetypes that have been imposed by society.
I think the show and the cast was very successful in that sense.
Betty en New York has all these stories
about women who stand up for who they are and what they want to do.
That's what's most beautiful about this show.
It's a marvelous injection of humanity
that allows us to understand and support each other.
As a woman, it's really amazing.
Thank you so much!
-But don't you think you're exaggerating? -No, no.
I'll only be in charge for two days.
Yes, but that's a lot more than any of us
has done in all our lives.
We're proud!
What did you think?
I'm not only proud of myself, but also of my colleagues
who gave everything they had to create these amazing women.
See you next time.
