What did you ask God for?

I forgot our anniversary and my wife is mad at me

I've cajoled her to come with me, leaving all my work behind

Help me make it alright and take good care of her

What about you?

Have asked him to forget all your mistakes and lies and protect you

- What did he say? - That he would take care

And asked me not to worry

"And the heart bleeds red"

"And the heart bleeds red"

Morning, sir! Hey! Can't you see who it is!

"And the heart bleeds red"

"Told you to change your ways and survive"

"But you change swords and get bruised instead"

"And the heart bleeds red"

"Making mistakes in the worst possible ways"

"Making mistakes knowing it's a mistake"

"The heart bleeds red"

I messed up. Can't you let it go?

- I thought you were my guy - But I am

Every morsel I eat has your father's name on it

What has Chinnappa been feeding you then?

Please don't hurt me. I said I'm sorry

Wipe this clean

Chinnappa Dasan's men lured me with a lot of money

I have children

- How many, Estappa? - Two kids

My girl is the bright one. Your dad was the one who named her

You clearly don't care about your kids!

Just this once, forgive me.

The phone's ringing.

My wife is calling

How would she know your life is in my hands?

Thought you were saved by the bell?

Tell me. What is it?

Mom too? Who was it?

Are they alright?

Are they alive?

Hello!

- Yes, I'm at the hospital - Tell him there were two guys

There were two guys apparently

- What happened? - The senior doctor just left

Their condition is still critical. We need to wait a while

- How could you let this happen? - It wasn't in my hands

He was supposed to go to the lawyer's place

But went to the temple with Lakshmi. For their wedding anniversary

- Have they caught the culprits? - He's talking to the cops

I'm on call with the DCP. They'll nab the guys

20 lakhs, month on month

Every single station, check post and officer has been paid off

How could they let this happen?

I'll call you back in some time, Arul. Okay, thank you

Varadan, it wasn't the police

The culprits have hired a police car meant for film shoots

It must be Chinnappa Dasan

Wait up. Take my hand

How are they?

- How bad is it? - Why did you bring the kids here?

- Is mom hurt too? - Is this a carnival?

I can't lie to the kids.

- Mom! - Be quiet

It's best that they learn things straight up

What has happened?

- Pa, take... - Lakshmi akka is badly hurt

Bruises all over the face

Pa, mind the children please. Come with me

I can't see them in that state

Go with grandpa and have some food

The Chief always treads cautiously with Chinnappa Dasan

- Have Ethi and Thyagu been informed? - It may be better if it comes from you

Dubai

It's not one pipeline though It's network from Kazakstan to china

For 1500 miles

And we have access to 7 blocks, to 18% of the network

In the contract

Excuse me sir

Your wife is here

One minute... My wife I am sorry, I will be back

My blessing from Heaven above!

Where champagne is involved, never disturb the husband

I'm trying to strike a crucial deal

This deal can happen only with half naked girls around?

This is Dubai, Renu. Can't lose the panties

Was that a joke?

Can we just go back

Yeah, please go back

What was the emergency? That you came all this way in a boat

Fine! You win. What's the matter?

Call your folks in Chennai

They will tell you all about the attack on their lives

What happened to them?

I have work to do. Call home and find out for yourself

Serbia

"Beloved thief"

"You came, and you left"

"You saw, and you left"

"You conquered me, and you left"

"You're my beloved thief"

"You came, and you left"

"You saw, and you left"

"You conquered me, and you left"

"O handsome knight, make way for me"

"O handsome knight, caress my feet"

"O handsome knight, worship me"

"O handsome knight, caress me"

"Beloved thief"

Your phone is ringing

- Should I answer that? - Don't bother

- It's Varada - Fine. Find out what it is

What is it?

Where are you?

- What does he want? - "What do you want..."

I've been trying to reach you for 8 hours now

- What's the problem? - What's the problem?

Mom and dad are at the hospital

Chinnappa Dasan's men attacked them. They're still in a critical condition

Do I have to come there?

Aunt Lakshmi? She's out of danger. And conscious now

Multiple surgeries to fix her face though

Water?

The driver? Nagendran?

I'll fetch the doctor

I'm going to make it

You need to hold fort till I'm back

You must...Go

The nation's PM is passing overhead. And our home's new PM is here with me

- Jayan can see us from behind - Let him

Let him see the love between a man and his wife

I was at the hospital all night. Your sister wasn't there

Neither were you. Where did you go?

Jayan will know now that love lasts only 7 seconds

You come in the other car

Should the PM's wife get down? I'll hail an auto or an Uber cab?

Call Rasool.

Ask him if he has any leads on the assassins

I want to know if the police have found them

- Your friend is not answering - Try again

Fractured skull

Four cracked ribs

Abdominal tear

Multiple fractures on the right hand

Yes, madam

Are you insane?

He isn't a college student at all. He's a criminal, a gangster

- Didn't you check his student ID? - You can get one for 150 rupees, sir

Which student carries a gun to class?

We are in public view

All eyes are on us. The media, politicians...

Why do this now, when the PM is in town?

I politely asked him for the gun

But he made lewd comments about my sister

I said:"Stop that. My sister isn't that pretty"

He didn't laugh at my joke

He made lewd remarks about my mother too

I said:"Brother, don't speak that way. She's old and arthritic."

He laughed a little. So did his cronies

He put his arm around me, laughed, and said I was one of them

- Only then did I hit him - Why?

I'd worn fresh clothes, ma'am. Laundered just that morning

His hands were dirty and he sullied my shirt

So I got a bit emotional and thulped him

- What do you expect us to do? - He needs to be locked up, ma'am

Thugs should be nipped in the bud

How did you become a cop?

- Whose recommendation? - My own merit, sir

- My foot! What's your father's name? - A H Basheer. Retired Chemistry professor

That's the uncle who adopted you. Your father was Ibrahim

A criminal who died in a police encounter. Correct?

- It's all on record - Yes, sir

Your mom gave you away and killed herself

It was an accident, sir

You're off duty till that boy recovers. The suspension order will reach you

- Ma'am, this is really unfair - Do you believe in God?

- My mom's tuition fees won't cover... - Your aunt, You mean?

My aunt's tuition money won't cover our monthly expenses

My uncle needs dialysis

If that boy dies, you may bury your uniform

This is completely unfair, ma'am. Please reconsider

- We can't manage on half my salary - You may go

- We weren't expecting you - Well, I'm here. Where's Varadan?

- Wait here, sir - Go. Run along now

The Narasu's Mill, the quarters around it. All signed and sealed

Your Astro-City, the factory, the lake and the mall

All being cleared, one by one

- What did you close it at? - "The market rate per acre is 45...

...but Varadan's rate would be 27. Is that a yes or no?" I asked

Satish was stumped. He said it was too low

My brother and I started to leave. Then he gave in

He agreed to 27, because it was you

Jayan, how much did you say it was?

- 17, boss - Is that right?

He says it's 27, you say 17. Am I missing something?

I'm sure it's not you. Your brother messing around?

Call him

He's not reachable

You fools!

Did you break his phone when you beat him up? Check!

Try calling again

I can't take this cacophony. Shut him up

What was that?

- What am I hearing? - I didn't hear a thing

Come closer

Come here

Hear it now?

Go

Get out of here

10 per acre.

Cough up the amount you skimmed

My friend!

Buddy!

One should be careful when a cop is around

But you aren't a cop now. Heard you've been suspended?

So, you have spies in our department? News reaches you instantly!

The Home Minister is your friend, right?

Have him speak with the Commissioner

You rarely answer my calls. Why should I help you?

Because we're old buddies! And that's what friends do

My childhood partner-in-crime, my saviour, my dearest friend!

If you ever need a kidney, I'll give you mine

Kidney?

- Are you drunk? - A wise man makes even wine his weapon

Call him

Call him

I'll talk to the minister

- But I need something from you - I know

Find the men who attacked your dad, right?

I'm on it

- Six month suspension? - Yes

I'll take care of it

Thanks, my friend

Hey! Come here Come here

- Take it off - Look there, okay?

Come…come

Yeah Look there…done

Thyagu!

Big brother!

Please step aside, sir

Please come with me, sir

Why? What happened?

- Please come - For what?

Please wait here

- My passport... - Please wait here

Fine. Go on

Scared you, right?

- Sheikh! - Rowdy Ethi

Hi Kids!

- I knew it was you! - Did you now?

- When is the baby due? - Anytime now

Ethiraj! How scared were you?

You really had me there, uncle

You crazy people!

All your sons were waiting right here

Did they see me like this?

Why did you bring them here?

How could I stop them? They're with their father now

Here, drink this

Did you come thinking I'd be alive?

Or in preparation for my death?

You came this close to dying apparently

Get this tube off me

This smell of medicine is nauseating

Let's get me home

You need to stay here a week. Can't go home yet

Is this how I raised you? Why be a stickler for rules now?

Mr. Senapathi! You might be a big shot

But you have broken ribs and you need critical care

Will you listen to your dad or the doctor?

He only listens to the sheikhs in Dubai

Just another sip

Do I look like a demon?

Maybe just a little

Drink up now

- You're the bigger demon - Well, you raised me this way

So, who really did this?

They seem to have done such a shoddy job. So I wonder...

You've taken after your mother. The same sarcasm

Can you meet me at the brothel in Pondicherry?

Rasool Are you drunk?

I did drink. Some water, coffee and some tea

- What about you? - I'll call you later

Guess you're not in the mood. But these two guys are

They're getting lucky. Never mind then

- Are you married? - Yes

- Regular customer? - Just once

- Just once a day? - Yes

Which two guys?

The ones who bombed your parents' car

They've shacked up at Sarasamma's brothel in Pondicherry

I'm on my way

Don't rush. They've set up camp here

They attacked in broad daylight! How is that possible?

Weren't our guys around? How could you let this happen, uncle?

- So, am I to blame? - Were we that careless?

You suck up to the sheiks in Dubai. We'll handle things here

- Relax, big brother - I am relaxed!

- Hello - Hi

Are your parents okay?

They're safe, for now. Still at the hospital

How are you?

Miss me?

You haven't run away with the money?

Your dad is the one with the crores. If I elope, it'll be with him

Good good!

Call Rasool, uncle

Confirm the delivery time. Bye

I love you. Say it back! I love you!

Me too

- Really? - Yes!

Dad just made it alive and you're busy romancing on the phone

So what? Why does it bother you?

If you both want to bicker like kids, come in the other car

Ok, brother

Varadan thinks he's Dad already. Throwing his weight around

I was discussing work

Work? You mean smuggling monkeys?

Why does he drive like this!

- Have you got Netbanking on your phone? - Yes

Check your account. Bank of Serbia. Show it to this monkey here

If our little brother handles our business, we're done for

Look at the amount credited. In dollars too!

Do you know the exchange rate for a dollar?

Whoa!

Where is this money from?

How does it matter? Any money is good money

What business are you into? That's bringing in so much money

Serbian oilcakes!

You're putting everybody at risk. Including dad

Answer your uncle. What damn business are you into?

This is what I'm into!

What is this?

- This is the business - Is that a loaded gun?

Never seen Varadan scared before

Hold it

Turn it away from me

This fellow is dangerous. We need to cut him off

Guns, grenades, explosives, missiles

Name it and we can deliver it. Made in Russia, comrade!

You're going to drive us all into the ground

No issues here?

- Rasool! - You made it!

- Where are they? - One is here and the other, over there

Thyagu, how are you?

Head upstairs

Where?

- You head straight - Check these rooms here

- Why are you disturbing me? - Go away

Hey! Go that side

Is anybody there in that room?

Keep moving Where's Kurup?

Get him! Thyagu, Ethi!

Catch him. The one in the red jacket

Red jacket. Skull cap. Get him

I catch you I'll nail you down

He's coming upstairs

I'm on duty. Sorry

I don't have money

Thyagu, get him!

Let the girl go. Don't hurt her

Come any closer and I'll shoot her

- Shoot him down - Put that gun away

Go away or I shoot

He is dead

- What the hell, Rasool! - What could I do?

- Who sent you? Chinnappa Dasan? - Yes, sir. Rasool here.

Say it

What can he say? He's dead

- Why did you let the other one go? - You don't know what happened there!

I want to meet Chinnappa Dasan

Make it happen

Do you hear me?

- Yes - Make it happen

Were these the men who attacked Senapathi?

Chinnappa Dasan's gang?

Did your men shoot this guy? Why are you here?

You haven't answered me yet

Please respond. Yes or no?

- I will - When? Give me a time

Soon

- How is your dad? - Still serious

Pull out the life support

That's what I would do

How long will he drag it on?

Poor man! And how long can you wait too?

Shut up! I'll kill you

- Chinappa welcome! - My lawyer friend!

Senapathi's sons are waiting for you

So whose side are you on?

Whoever pays my fee I'm on their side

Come inside

DCP! It's been a while. What's going on?

All of you will need to lie low for a while

So what are the Dos and Don'ts...

...let's start with that list

The harbour and real estate business violence bullying...

I'm observing a period of abstinence

All praise to Swami Ayyappa!

How is Senapathi doing? When can I visit him at the hospital?

Some visiting hours

Can visit only at those hours apparently. Is that true?

He's in the ICU. No visitors allowed

Two of your men were nabbed yesterday. One of them got away

- The other one's dead - What are you saying?

My man?

Do you know what you're accusing me of?

Yes Lord! Maybe I know nothing Lord!

I don't want further trouble. That's why I've called for you

That's an antique table. Go easy

It will broke if you hit on table

Senapathi and I have been in this business for years

We've had multiple issues

Fist-fights stabbings even killings. We've seen it all

But this bombing. That's not me

I swear on my Lord I didn't take out a hit on Sena

That's why we are here

I don't want further trouble between your gangs

- You think I started this? - This was not us!

I've been saying it over and over

How do we trust that the imposters weren't his men?

- Chezhiyan! Watch your words - He says it wasn't him! Are you deaf?

- Was it you then? - Calm down

What will you do?

Am I here to speak with the DCP or to deal with these hooligans?

Are you even listening to me?

The police won't be a silent spectator. We'll fix the whole lot of you

- Not necessary. I'll see to this lot - We'll see too!

I'll see what the hell you do

I try to stay calm but they keep dragging me into a fight

Leave it to me father-in-law

- What will you do? - I'll finish you off

Move along

Did you see that? Threatening us right in front of you!

Do as sir says

If you cry no food for 3 days and I'll make you clean the bathrooms

Hello, sir

Hurry get in. Wipe your eyes

She's just come into town. Fresh goods very young

Do you like me?

Go on. Tell me

"The heart bleeds red"

"The heart bleeds red"

"The heart bleeds red"

"The heart bleeds red"

"Thought you'd turn over a new leaf"

"But you change swords bruised afresh"

"All the villainy and vice"

"Knowing it's wrong yet no wiser"

"All the villainy and vice"

"Knowing it's wrong yet no wiser"

Saravana!

You need to avenge three people

My deceased son-in-law

My daughter whose life is now ruined

And my orphaned grandson

"Me? Is it me?"

"Did I give the order deal the deathly blow?"

"Me? Is it me?"

"Are we the same or two different monsters?"

- Is Varadarajan Senapathi's successor? - Of course. Who else can it be?

Your brothers? Your uncle?

- Hand me the camera - Answer me

My brothers are mere boys. They won't fight me

"Me? Is it me?"

"Did I give the order deal the deathly blow?"

"Me? Is it me?"

He has two sides to him

One is extremely loving and caring

But another side lurks beneath

You should take over after your dad

Working under you would be a pleasure

If I return it will be as the king

And when I'm king I'll rule with a hundred friends

That is your dad's seat

Let me be

If your brother knew he'd be angry and jealous

Let's not tell him

A beautiful wife and kids. You have everything

- So why me? - My dad controls everything there

I'm just one amongst 35 henchmen. With you I'm the sole king

"Evil sneaks in stealthily like a tortoise in your home"

"Corrupts your mind. And intoxicates you"

"Very much violence Powerful strength"

That policeman is around. Should we still...?

- Our cop friend seems drunk - I was a drunk even before I became a cop

That's not the point. Listen to me now

4 men 2 guns and a car are waiting for you.

What shall we do?

"Violence the new social order Might the music of the masses"

"As the scars from wounds split wide forges new identities"

They've spotted us. Yes the cop too

"Let's do it"

Go inside

They're coming at us. Let's move!

Get the kids!

Thaygu, don't go

Come to me

Where is he?

Here comes the big fish

Hey! Send a car quick

- Know what's going on at home? - What are you talking about?

- Thyagu was shot... - On our lawn?

Look there

Shit!

Seen those lions sitting on a chair at the circus?

That's me Come here

Lift this old lion up

Hey! No need I will

Thyagu told me what happened yesterday

- Chinnappa's men. I'll handle it - No don't

Have you found the men who threw the bomb at us?

One of them got away. But we'll find him

They don't seem to be locals

Sent men from your town did you?

You think it was me?

Is this what you would've done in my place?

I'm a carbon copy of you

Anything you would do; not just me all of us can do

The good and the bad

Fine

Was I this cocky at his age? Look how he speaks

Tell Chinnappa Dasan I'd like to meet him

- I'll handle Chinnappa - No!

Tell him I would've come myself but for my health

Let's look at the molecular formula

You need to memorise each formula

Get out. Out of my class

This fair princess...

...eating at a humble policeman's house?

Your aunt's upma was calling out to me

Has the Chief been...

...discharged from the hospital?

What about you? Heard it's a 6 month suspension

So will you live off your aunt's tuition fees?

Or will it be the professor's pension?

Good point!

Is that a bribe?

50,000 rupees per month. Till the police enquiry is over

There's no dearth of corrupt people. Why corrupt an honest policeman?

The Chief is a bit weak now

Chinnappa Dasan's hold is getting stronger

What happened yesterday shouldn't happen again

Your husband was very lucky yesterday

Just as having two wives is convenient so is having two cars

He's travelled in the small sedan yesterday

They've shot at the SUV and escaped

You're a blessed soul

Your good karma has saved your husband's life

I haven't stacked up enough karma to protect him forever

That's why I'm asking you to be by his side

- Bless you - Thanks

A monthly pay won't work for me. Let's make it contractual

Pay me the money and I'll get the job done

Varadan is impulsive. He needs a wise friend

That's high praise. But there's just Rs.10,000 here

I've given 40,000 to your aunt. Or you'll blow it up on alcohol

You're the wise one

- Why haven't you married yet? - Because you don't have a sister

And so what if I did?

How would I let her marry a suspended cop?

- I'll look for a girl if you'd like - No! Please don't

Let me stay single live it up and die in peace

Okay

It's the baby's naming ceremony tomorrow

Bring your aunt and come home

- Take care of Varadan - That's your job now

I want you to name him

Neither mom nor dad

Raja

He looks like a king

Who is that girl in Serbia?

- Who told you? - Your dad has people everywhere

Is she Tamil? Why didn't you bring her along?

I'm the neglected last son

Not sure if dad even likes me. Why would I bring Chaaya?

So her name is Chaaya? It's a nice name

Grandpa!

Hello Lionheart cop. Welcome

They've put me in a cage and set you free

But your attitude remains intact

If you bend over to a cop he feels compelled to beat you down

Need the attitude to survive

- Are you well now Sena? - Getting there

The doctors tried to hold me captive

But we have work to do don't we?

Need to find out who tried to bring me down

I told Varadan that it wasn't me

That I had nothing to do with it. But he won't believe me

Is that why you sent armed men yesterday?

Oh Lord!

All your sons are standing tall by your side

But my son-in-law is now six feet under

How do I console my daughter?

- Shouldn't have started it at all - I tell you again...

I know it wasn't you

You have nothing to gain

I know who's behind this. I'll take care of it

A policeman's gaze is wicked

This suspension has made me half-blind

- How do you do? - So you didn't recognise me?

I've had your food so often during school

Still remember the taste. A cop never forgets

I don't care for a cop's pomp

Over here you are simply Varadan's friend

- Where's your aunt? - Tuition classes

You'd better stay for lunch

Who should I deal with after you?

Who will negotiate the deals?

Your eldest the second one or the youngest?

Who will hold the power? Tell me that

There's only one thing I ask of you. Peace

My lord!

Hear that?

It will all work out. Don't worry

- What's happening at Sena's house? - Why ask me sir?

One phone call would have sufficed

- Do you know Sena's net worth? - No sir

He is the benami for most ministers irrespective of the party

And money spread across foreign shores

- It is a criminal empire - Yes sir

And the brothers will fight bitterly to gain control

With such wealth and power at stake family means nothing

- Why tell me all this? - You're treading the same path

You're vying for Senapathi's throne through your friend Varadan

Am I right?

Answer me

That's not me sir

Why do I find it hard to believe you?

I don't know sir. But I'm an honest policeman sir

- I'll be watching you - May I go now?

Why should he be told who holds the power?

Calling him for a talk was a mistake!

I will be the one in charge. Ask him to speak to me

Maybe you shouldn't. You'll lose your cool

- I'll handle Chinnappa - What makes you think you can?

- If you can handle it so can he - You stay out of it

You're dealing with pocket change. Smuggling drugs and monkeys!

I had to pull strings in Delhi to get you out of jail in Africa

- He could list our mistakes too - Let it be. He's our brother after all

You've made enemies all around you

That's why this happened to mom and dad

You're doing odd jobs in Dubai! But I'm risking my life here

If I don't send you money you'll be on the road

That's not fair. You are not sending your money

- You only follow dad's orders - What was that?

This is what Chinnappa wants. For us to turn against each other

Don't play into his hands

Who really wants dad dead uncle?

Just between us...

If it's not Chinnappa then who?

Ethi! That's enough

I'm trying my best to be casual

But I can't get this question out of my head

If dad is gone who benefits the most?

- Not an outsider. In this house... - Ethi! That's enough

But Ma... I wonder if uncle still holds a grudge

We all know what dad did to your father

Why beat about the bush?

Ask me straight

'Hey uncle! Did you try to kill my dad?'

Sure. Tell me then

Yes it was me. What will you do?

Your son-in-law gets everything after dad

He gets the throne

But I'll kill you and your brother first

- Try stopping me! - Why stoop to his level?

You're a really smart one uncle

Even if you're shot right in the mouth...

...you would just swallow it

My family has suffered much because of your dad

Unspeakable grave damage

But beyond all that your dad respects me

He's cared for memore than my own father

I'd never forget that

- Then why not say so! - Let me go

Come now. We're good

I'm away at the hospital for 4 days...

...and there's a war brewing to take my place

We were just discussing Chinnappa's visit

I'll take care of it

I've told Chinnappa to speak with me to sort any issues

- I'll take care as long as I'm here - And after you're gone?

You'll know when it happens

Those who need to travel back may do so

And learn to make your own living

Minor scars from the surgery

They'll fade away

I know who it was

- I know who tried to have us killed - Who the police?

Chinnappa?

- My brother? - Not him. He's a loyal fellow

- Also he's not smart enough - Who then?

It's one of your sons

It can't be. I don't believe it

The Devil is not outside He lies within

You've got it all wrong

Do you know why your son's smile is so sharp?

There's a dagger behind it

The one dearest to you stabs you in the back

But none of them are dear to you

You've kept them all at bay

- Shall I say who it is? - No

What do you have in mind?

I fear what you might do

God has shown me a path

You sleep now. Don't worry

"Where did it begin? And how does it end?"

"The infinite sky does it ever end? It doesn't does it?"

"Will the soul perish the way the body does?"

"The body a vessel Brittle breaking apart"

"O wailing heart fret not"

"When the leaves wither The tree doesn't shed a tear"

"Live each day unfeeling inanimate"

"For this ever-changing world…"

"…is fickle"

You're here?

What happened?

Couldn't sleep?

Dear

"O heart of mine! Can you bear this pain?"

Varadan!

Chitra!

Go upstairs and fetch her. Hurry!

- Call the doctor - What happened?

- What happened to him? - I don't know

Dad! What happened?

- Dear - Dad!

- Uncle - Call the doctor

Dad!

- Dear - What happened?

Make call and come somebody

Call the doctor and arrange ambulance

"The sound of the spinning earth"

"The screams of the churning oceans"

"And the war cries of Man against Man"

"Drowning out the call of the solitary songbird"

"When alone fish weeps in the sea"

"Will its sorrow ever reach the shore?"

"Blue mountain slopes"

"Where the winds weave"

"In the skies Dipping to meet the earth"

"I found love"

"As the forests stand still In these soundless scapes"

"I found wisdom"

"With heart wide open I revelled in nature's bounty"

"A little sparrow Cast me a friendly glance"

"Perched on a rounded rock she called out to me"

"Cheepcheep she chirped Calling me close"

"Without a word Asked me is this love?"

"Cheepcheep she chirped Calling me close"

"Without a word Asked me is this love?"

”Spent time wallowing with the sparrow”

Wrong number

Where is Ethiraj? His father has passed away

Where are you? Couldn't reach you for hours!

- What is it? - Your dad is No more

He had a heart attack last night

Your mom was the one to find him

Come down immediately

How could this happen? He was recovering just fine

You were all with him. How could you let...?

Why didn't you rush him to the hospital?

Both of you must come home immediately

Ask Varadan to hold on till tomorrow

Thyagu can reach only tomorrow. He wants us to wait

Why? What's so pressing?

He has a meeting with the Arabs. Says he can't make it

So must we wait for his random meeting?

His contract is dependant on our money. Right?

Don't send him any

Not a rupee should be sent without my permission

Love your father dearly don't you?

I try not to love anyone. If I do it always goes wrong

I prefer to keep my distance

Will you take me home with you?

Not this time

Why?

Will they think I've brought this misfortune upon them?

Where are you going?

Where would I go?

You're the one going away

I'm just stepping away for a smoke

So do you love me at all? Or am I to be distant too?

I Love You di

Chaya!

Get up

Who sent you?

Speak up

Is it Thyagu?

Did he come?

- Did you stop the money transfer? - Your father's last rites are going on

But you'd rather haggle with the sheiks

I said I'd come as soon as the transfer was done

I can't transfer any damn thing now

That is dad's money. He had promised to send it to me

You have 15 minutes

Tell me you'll wire the money by then

I'm about to dissolve dad's ashes in the sea now

Brother!

Wire me the money now or you'll live to regret it

You should've been here

Okay The money is here

Allah is great

Thank you

It will be here and some time

Feels like the end of an era

Reduced to nothing

- Heard about Ethi? - A sniper attack apparently

She was a Tamilian?

I'm thinking of sending uncle over

How did it happen? Was it our doing?

You don't have siblings. You wouldn't understand

I may be suspended but I'm still a cop

It's my job to be suspicious

If you were in Ethi's shoes wouldn't you be suspicious?

Why would I be in his shoes?

He didn't even bother coming for his dad's funeral

Valid point. Thyagu wasn't here either

What pressing work kept them both away?

Picture this

The one performing the last rites is the rightful heir

So maybe uncle planned this to keep them away

"As the skies slipped And fell to the earth"

"All sense of direction Dissolved into the pouring rain"

"Which way the little sparrow flew I knew not"

"And came away with a heavy heart"

"Lost to each other"

"My soul drenched in sorrow"

"Will the sparrow suffer in solitude?"

"Will this lashing rain hurt her fragile feathers?"

I heard about Chaaya

But it didn't occur to you to call

I had no words to console you

I'm sorry

It's a bad time for our whole family

Varadan's taken over our entire business back home

With uncle's guidance I'm sure

You should have take over dad's mantle

But dad didn't think that way

Go to sleep

Who's there? Who are you?

Where is Thyagu?

Emergency There are 4 armed men-

Varadan doesn't have dad's acumen or his courage

He could only follow instructions. But you're more balanced

You have the courage the command and a distant vision

I've spent years praising the Arabs and the Brits to get my work done

Don't try the same trick with me

I will only wonder what your ulterior motives are

How smart?

This is exactly the smartness that Varadan lacks

If I had tried this on him he would've been thrilled

Where is Thyagu?

How do I know?

Do husbands tell to their wives where they go?

Okay guys Come, let's go

Get lost!

Go, the cops are here

Get lost, you thieves Go away

Go Run

What's the problem?

I don't know there were 4 guys who came in and just left

They must be down You can go check

- What's your name? - My name is Renu Thyagarajan

Excuse me, what are you doing? My kids are upstairs

Excuse me, what is it? You can't go there

- Are you scared? - No I'm happy

Renu the kids and my business. I'm happy

You go on home. And fight it out if you'd like

I'll stay out of it

I pegged you wrong

Thought you'd take us places. On an international level

Yes. You read me wrong

You've lost it right? Being subservient to the Arabs

- Enough - Ok enough

Let Varadan take over

Fine...

If I come back it will be on my terms

I'll lead the way

- If we gain control together... - We will

If we do I will take charge

I will call the shots

What happened?

”Whither they fall..”

”...know not the rain drops”

”One to sprout a seed Another consumed by a pyre”

”Whither they fall It’s destiny”

”The quest of Fate - Destiny”

”Destiny..”

"Devoured by heartless Time Engulfed in blood"

It should have been you in here. And me visiting you

The kids?

They're with your mother

Send them to London with her

This is Varadan's doing

I'll make him pay

But for now you're safer here

Why don't you try being behind bars?

My name has been sullied

Put your phone away and come with me

Needs more salt

I will see

Coming!

Feels like I've been caught red-handed by my principal

Won't your parents be ashamed to see you like this?

When I was 5 my mother abandoned us

Please sit

I abandoned my father when I was 18

My sister is a doctor. At CMC Vellore

My brother a software engineer in the US

I'm on my own here

Varada! Look who's here

- How much does he give you every month? - What do you think?

Not a rupee

I've earned everything on my own

Even his meals are on the house

But he does make a mean fish curry

Come look who's here!

Our end may be very near

Rasool I'll call you back

Your brothers are on their way here

- Did you know? - Uncle told you?

You clearly can't see. Or hear a thing

You're tucked away with this TV news flunkie

How would you know what's brewing around you?

Look over there

You are an easy target from the neighbour's window

Laying here like a lamb primed for slaughter

What's your plan?

- I'll handle it - How will you handle Your brothers?

But how?

I've made arrangements already

They have come to plan via Kathmandu

'Kathmandu'

But they not reached Rasool will take care of them

Bay 3

Please step aside

Officer, I think you make a mistake

You are doing big mistake

Don't treat Indians bad

Do you know who they are?

Ethiraj from Serbia. Thyagarajan from Dubai

Both are gangsters. Wanted in 4 countries

No...no You take them

Take them

Hey, don't touch me Officer, you are making a blunder

- Make him sit - Get up

Your brother is watching. Look into the phone

Go on start

Happy now? This may not end well

You wanted me to be careful

Thapa come outside!

Can't you hear that? Go out and check

Let's go

We have a lot of work to do back home

Big brother! You started this. Don't you forget

Varada!

We're coming for you

Take care

What does the suspended Inspector want from me?

I've heard you serve great tea

Bring me some tea

He won't mind. Go on

Are you still taking kickbacks from Varadan?

Varadan's a miser. Won't pay up till a job is done

- I'm sure you know that - I also know why you're here

That's great. Makes my job easier

Here I'll take that

Tell Varadan that it's not possible

You're driving me away even before I finish my tea

Shall I get straight to the point?

Varadan's brothers are coming back. It's going to be a blood bath

He wants my support. Right?

Perfect

Are you done?

Sena and you came to an understanding...

Go now. And don't come back

This isn't a tea stall Go

I'll come over have tea speak with you and leave as I please

Stop me if you can

See you

Thyagu!

I didn't agree to help you because you graced my house

I'm not so gracious

Someday we could scale great heights in Dubai as partners

I'm sure of that

I need to settle my score

In this clash I want Varadan to be the one to fall

That's your responsibility

Varadan DCP sir in online

- Greetings DCP sir - Rein your brothers in

The police department isn't what it used to be

My brothers?

We were informed about local thugs assembling at your distillery

I don't know what you brothers are up to

I respected your dad. So I'm warning you

My brothers are educated. They won't do anything untoward

I'll handle them

Don't tell me later that you weren't warned

I hear you. I've got this

How many men should I send?

Jayan's group can stay here. The rest can go with Kurup

Squash them before they realise what hit them

And if Thyagu and Ethi are there too?

Make sure they aren't hurt

Kurup where are you?

Sir there's no one here

We're trapped inside

Come!

Stop! It's Varadan's brother. Don't hurt him

What has my brother instructed you to do?

Shoot me down?

Shoot me

Lower the gun

I'm from Dubai

Dubai used to be an arid desert. Not fertile at all

No water. No oil. It had nothing

But now...

...in the last 25 years...

...look how much it's grown

We're no different

Stay with Varadan and remain a nobody. Forever an underling

Or

Think for yourselves

Be smart

And work your way up

You're not on lockdown

Here take the keys

If you want to get ahead in life make a choice

Leave Varadan. And stand with me

Auntie!

Sultana!

I'm hungry

Oldie

Where is everybody?

They've had their fill and left me the dishes

Auntie! I'm hungry

Mr. Professor

Just wait till I find you

Fine I'm going out to eat

What's up inspector?

I hear you've joined Varadan and become a gangster

- Who let you in? - Your uncle answered the door

I walked right in

- Calm down. Wait - Is that meant to scare me?

Why don't you try shooting a cop?

He's a college professor and this is my aunt

And this poor old lady. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?

Can a cop even enter you home? Without a warrant!

And tie up the women in your house?

That's the difference between you and me

Such rage!

Are you alright?

We are animals. We've grown up with bloodthirst

Go on. I'll follow

Wow! That was some high melodrama

How's Varadan?

Is that gun loaded?

Guess it is

This is an old building. And I'm drunk

It's ringing in my ears. What do you want?

How much to turn on Varadan?

I can't do that. He's a friend

I have something special saved for you. Veluthambi

Veluthambi who?

Remember the imposters who attacked your parents?

And we found them at the brothel right?

One died there. The other who shot him was Veluthambi

- I've found him and kept him captive - Where did you find him?

If you want something ask me straight up

Don't play these silly games

Pay me twice as much as Varadan. I'll turn on him

Hey! Get here hurry

- Who is that? - I will check, sir

- We don't know him - Who is he?

Check who that is

He's the one who tried to kill the Chief

Don't stand there and stare!

He's still alive

Hold this. Get him down

Move man

Sir, cops has come

Cops are coming Go away

Go inside

Bring him down

Welcome sir

What the hell is going on here? They've hung a corpse at our doorstep

Where were you cooling your heels? I need answers. Call the Commissioner

Take him away

Hello Nawab

Good morning

- Listen carefully - Say you love me and I'll listen

Stay away from there for some days

- Hang on I'm coming - Coming where?

Don't be in such a rush

- I'm coming to the door - Don't open the door

Hello

I said do not open...

We haven't met before

- I'm Ethiraj - I know

- What is it Ethiraj? - Is that my brother on the phone?

Give him my regards

I am Ghalid You are TV reporter-

- Where is uncle? - He's gone to meet the Commissioner

Fetch the kids

How could this happen in your city ma'am?

How would we know?

They must've tied him to the gate overnight

There are 12 policemen at the station in our area!

And they all claim that they saw nothing

I'm coming straight to your house

Moron! Where do you think you're going?

Please forgive me sir. I had to protect my family

I'll call you back ma'am

What happened to you?

What are you doing here? Where did I tell you to be?

What's going on?

What is it?

This is for putting my Renu in jail

Did you or did you not?

Answer me

It's all good. Get inside

Sit down. Put on your seat belt

Let it go

Brother, what is happening here?

Someone tell me what's going on

- Stay strong. You're not a child - Where are Babu and Alwar?

Half the security guards are missing. Where is Uncle Chezhiyan?

Head to Coimbatore. Be careful. Get going now

- Why are you packing them off? - It's for their own safety

- The next few days will be hard - I don't understand...

I said I'll take care of it

Where's my dad?

Where is he?

Where is uncle?

Chitra don't look

Dad!

Somebody help me get him out

Who did this? Ethi or Thyagu?

This is Ethi...

How can you live with yourself! How could you?

- What did you do to your own uncle? - Nothing that your husband hasn't done

You wretched cruel boys!

What have you done!

He's our uncle

You are one to talk!

You started this

Where are you?

You ask as if you dont know

I'm with your chick. Wait I'll turn the video on

Come here love

Come I say

Smile

Convinced now?

I'm waiting for you. Come if you dare

Where are you going?

Chitra get down

It'll make things worse if you go there

- If you go I'm coming with you - Chitra please get down

You will kill each other. I've had enough

I've lost too much

Hand me the gun. I'll go in your stead

- Don't touch that - Really? You're making me more curious

- It isn't yours - Does it have Varadan's stuff?

- Ha! Your sex tapes? - Maybe so

- It's not for you to see - Why not?

- It belongs to your brother - Is it?

You can't have it

I had a girl. My own

- She was taken away from me - So what?

So you'll grab what belongs to your brother?

If I need to I will

Your secret lover is here. Go on

Not Varada. It's your mom

They're looking for you at home. What are you doing here?

Ethi brother in upstairs

Mom...

Was your eldest so scared? That he sent you as his messenger?

You speak to your mother with bodyguards around?

Please don't cry

I've never seen you cry

Don't make me witness my children fight each other

- You've come to speak for Varadan? - I speak for all 3 of you

- Then why come here? - I've come to beg

What do I have?

A cellphone

And your son's secret lover. That's it

- Just come home with me - I cannot be bought

- I lost my father. And my husband - I lost my Chaaya too

Did anyone care?

Did anyone shed a solitary tear?

We're a family of selfish beings

That's how dad groomed us

You are ruthless

What do I do now?

I want my mother back

Don't take her away from me

I need you

You've never been by my side

Stay with me

For a while. As my mom

Only mine

Are you holding me captive?

I'm going to keep my mother close

Close to me. Under my protection

Big brother!

I said I'd be back

Here I am

Where are the kids?

Sister-in-law

“All the strength are.. Jim jim jim”

Where's the welcome party?

Where's the fanfare?

”Anger at its peak Gain on betrayal so far”

”If killing is the policy then...”

Come outside

“There is charging with stick... It became the music in social communities”

Ok Varada

“For many place it became the address”

“There is charging with stick... It became the music in social communities”

Wherever you are...

...we will find you

Beware

"The heart bleeds red"

Should not have let mom go. It should've been me

I messed up

Don't make it worse now

You don't have the manpower or the support

You're weak. You'll be trapped

Let them come for you. We'll hatch a plan

I pay you to protect me but you ask me to flee like a coward

Whose side are you on?

What do you want to do?

Protect your wife and children or kill Ethi and Thyagu?

What does it matter to you?

Nothing really

You fight make up cuddle each other. What do I care?

I'll sit back and watch

Why drag your women into it?

- Yes Ethi? - I'm outside your house

Varadan's car is parked here. Could've at least tried to hide it

Since when are you issuing parking tokens?

Come inside

Where are you?

I'm here

- Where's my brother? - Which brother?

One is screaming from your rooftop like a maniac

- The security guard called me - I asked about the eldest

- What did you say? Didn't hear that - You didn't hear me?

- That's where my house ends - I can see that

They gulped down the food and ran away?

"Amidst the sound of the earth spinning"

"The screams of the oceans"

"The sound of war man vs man"

"Drowning out the call of the solitary songbird"

Yes I've spotted them

"Drowning out the call of the solitary songbird"

"When a lone fish weeps in the sea"

"Will its sorrow ever reach the shore?"

- We're taking the Nellore route - Alright

(Song from Malayitta Mangai)

(Song from Malayitta Mangai)

Rasool seems to have given us the right information

Near Renigunta. Yes it's one of our cars

Qualis 1189. The front seat's empty

The back seat's empty and so is the rear

Where is our junior boss?

He may be in the boot

Sorry boss

Great escape

"A sinner's heart"

"Is like cotton set ablaze"

”Ashes won’t be left from Cotton”

You should have left with the kids to Coimbatore

And leave you alone?

Need to be careful only till Kadapa

Malik's men are on their way

I'm with you. Won't let any harm befall you

Don't worry

"Tears flow to tell the truth"

"Wretched heart is not listening"

"Where are you? Tomorrow I'll be there"

Give it to him

Don't be shy because I'm around

We're doing fine boss

- Don't like my food? - No no. Of course not

Can't be that bad

We could ask him to cook. I've heard he makes a mean fish curry

No no. This is superb

I'm just scared we'll overeat

Need to stay sharp. Can't doze off

Careful brother

Hey Abu!

Keep your eyes peeled outside. Don't focus on the food

Don't worry Abu. I've kept some aside for you

It's okay, sister

Turn off the lights

Don't speak. Stay down

They figured you would never set foot in a school even to hide

Go on eat

Flunked 8th grade thrice in school. Never made it to the 9th

- Turn the lights on - No don't!

Give me

Eat well. They're gone

Abu!

Hey! All of you take weapons

Move

Stop!

Stop hiding. Come outside

We need to talk

Stay down Chitra

I just want to talk. All these people don't need to die

Talk about what?

- Where's the car? - It's hidden at the back

Take the car and leave. Hurry

We'll handle this you leave

”O fragrance of Madurai”

Don't let him escape

”O screw pine flower of Manalur”

”Rose water of Sivagangai”

”When will you come back?”

”My mind is anxious”

”Heart seems pierced”

”Fire blazes inside my loving heart”

”My mind is anxious”

”Heart seems pierced”

”Fire blazes inside my loving heart”

You thought I was dead

- Sorry - Why are you sorry?

I'm the one who insisted on coming along

I wanted to be MaaKaali standing guard with a trident

And foolishly believed that I could protect you

Please leave before your brothers get here

Please do this. Who'll care for our children?

No Chitra

I won't watch my husband get hurt

- Listen to me. Please leave now - I won't leave you

- I caused this. All my sins... - No

Your father's sins

And your brothers'

My sins...

...can't be forgiven

What? Marrying me?

For 15 years I was just another henchman to him

He made me feel like an invalid

My brothers had all the freedom. But I had a life sentence

I didn't have the freedom to make any decision on my own

Treated like a slave all my life. Just how long could I...

I lost it. Couldn't take it anymore

I called Jayan and had him organise those two assassins

To take out my dad

It felt right at the time

But then there was blood on my hands

Wouldn't wash off no matter what I did

This bad karma kept circling me. And us

What do I do?

Don't leave me

Our kids are waiting for us. Please

Please wake up

Don't leave me

- Tell me - I need some help

- Where are you? - Kadapa

Where in Kadapa?

- Bishop Hospital - Sir this isn't Bishop Hospital...

What happened?

We're at the sub-registrar's office near Bishop Hospital

Who's with you?

- It's just Chitra and me - Okay. Don't worry

I'll get there by morning

- Stay safe - My friend...

Thanks

Thanks dude

Sit down. You're hasty just like your brother!

- What happened? - Can't tell if he's lying or not

It could be a trap. Let's think it through

This isn't Bishop Hospital sir. It's Venkateshwara Hospital

The sub-registrar's office is 3kms away from here

I know

Do you have a trusted old friend?

Don't count on him

Brother

Master!

It's me Khalid

Your brothers wish to meet you. Should we go?

- Where are Ethi and Thyagu? - They're on their way boss

- Is Rasool here? - No

Where are you?

How many of you are here?

10 or 15?

We're just here to fetch you and Chitra ma'am

What do you want from me?

My life?

Nothing like that boss

What's so profound about life?

In the blink of an eye it vanishes without a trace

It means nothing!

It's all an illusion

Dig deep inside and it all amounts to...

...a big cipher

You...

...me...

...everyone who came before us...

...and everyone to come is just another cipher

So come on Cipher

Get me!

"When the flames of desire scorch the earth"

"The sky and soil bleed crimson"

"When deep blue seas run red A bloody rain stokes the earth"

Careful darling

"This life, engulfed in blood"

Beat him up

"This life, engulfed in blood"

"When the flames of desire scorch the earth"

"The sky and soil bleed crimson"

"When deep blue seas run red A bloody rain stokes the earth"

"This life, engulfed in blood"

Hey don't

It's his family that feeds us

"This life, engulfed in blood"

You've put me in a fix

Boss please. Let's talk this out

"Whither they fall... "

Varada! What happened?

"...know not the raindrops"

"One to sprout a seed.."

Where is Chitra?

Why are you bleeding?

"Another consumed by a pyre"

Varada please listen to me. Let's talk about this

Hold on

It's not what you think

Hear me out

Ok...ok

- Are you tensed? - Traitor! Take me to my brothers

They promised me double the amount. How could I refuse?

- We said we'd come for you - Drive Rasool

You wanted to meet them I've brought them to you

Where is Chitra?

Where is your wife?

Chitra is no more

It's over

Rasool keep driving. Until he confesses to the truth

- What truth? - About who tried to kill dad

Tell us

It was me

It was Varadan

- Veluthambi gave a statement... - I've already confessed

We're at the hilltop

Don't stop. Keep driving in circles

Chezhiyan made all the arrangements

8 lakhs. Advance payment of 1 lakh

They tried to blame it on Chinnappa. Right Varada?

You try to kill dad and then send mom to make peace?

How did we come to this? Brothers fighting like animals!

You started this! Don't forget that

What goes around comes around

What do you want?

Money or power?

- Neither - Let's split the business

I'll take Chennai

- Both of you can take the rest - No way

Fine. You tell me then. How do we split it?

No

What do you want from me?

For sending Renu to prison this is good enough!

- Shove him out the door - No. He is our brother

We can't throw him out. Drive Rasool

Keep driving

Okay then I'll stand

All...everything

Ethi we're right at the top

There's only one way from the top. A steep dip. Rock bottom

When I look down I see only you. I'll have no problems

Just one

I understand the Thai language

What Thai language?

I caught the Thai assassin who shot Chaaya

When I questioned him he answered in Thai

- What did he say? - He didn't say a thing

But you've just given it all away!

What are you talking about?

You accused Varadan for Renu. What about Chaaya?

I...

Why would you? It was you wasn't it?

I did not send anyone

Stop pretending

Look

Throwing away an empty gun doesn't prove anything

Quit this act

It was a mistake

I didn't mean to kill. Only wanted to set off a spark

To start a fire between me and Varadan?

So we kill each other and you can rejoice

And we do nothing about it?

Don't dare sit! I'll shoot you

I messed up

Never meant to kill anyone

It's my fault

I'm not a violent man. You know that

If you and I join hands...

No need There can only be one king

You have 2 options

Either you die like they did

And I decide how many bullets riddle you

Or you stand with me

Stay by my side and you can make good money

You decide

Give me 2 minutes

I was 7 years old then

My mother took me to the airport

My dad was returning from Dubai

I stood on the railing to catch a glimpse

My dad looked towering and strong

There were policemen all around

Suddenly there was gunfire

The crowd scrambled and ran. But my dad was missing

My mother ran too

There was blood all over the car park

The ambulance whizzed past

We searched in several hospitals

Finally we were told...

"...a bullet ridden gangster was brought here...

...but he was dead on arrival"

They took my mother in to identify him

That's when I found out...

...that my father was a gangster

Not like you lot

A minor unimportant small time gangster

My mother didn't let me see him

Worried I'd end up like my dad she gave me away to my aunt

I begged her

"I will not stray don't give me away" I wailed

My cries fell on deaf ears

She put me on a train and killed herself

I've despised gangsters ever since

Gangsters criminals terrorists... hate them all

That's why I joined the police force

I'm still a policeman

Still an inspector. Inspector Rasool Ibrahim

"The sound of the spinning earth"

"The screams of the churning oceans"

"And the war cries of Man against Man"

"Drowning out the call of the solitary songbird"

"O heart of mine! Can you bear this pain?"

"O heart of mine! Can you bear this pain?"

"Can you bear this pain?"

"The sound of the spinning earth"

"The screams of the churning oceans"

"And the war cries of Man against Man"

"Drowning out the call of the solitary songbird"

'The facade of a city...'

'...evolves every 10 years, like a snake shedding its skin'
