By my side is my friend and co‐host Rocsi Diaz.

‐ We're gonna have some fun today, Mike,

and these competitors are about to hit the water

and compete for $10,000.

‐ I hope you're ready because it's time to "Cannonball."

[upbeat music]

‐ First up is Speed Skipper.

Our athletes will start seven stories high,

flying down the mega slide at speeds of up

to 80 miles an hour.

‐ Then they'll skim across the water absorbing

the brutal impact of our speed bumps.

They'd better hold on because

it's going to be fast and furious.

‐ The eight athletes who get the furthest the fastest

will advance to the next round.

The bottom three athletes will be going home.

Before we get started,

let's check in with our sideline reporter Simon Gibson

down on the shoreline. Simon?

‐ Hey, thanks, guys, but honestly,

what are you throwing to me for?

People want to know who's gonna win this thing.

Let's get to it! Back to you!

‐ Thanks, Simon.

‐ Let's meet our first competitor,

Friday Sydell.

‐ Hello!

Hey, I'm Friday, I'm 29,

and I am the party.

[upbeat music]

I want to inspire everyone to have that Friday mentality

even on a Monday.

It's always Friday somewhere,

especially if you believe it in your mind.

‐ You know, Friday went to circus school.

but I am no chicken on "Cannonball."

‐ I wonder if he works at a specific chicken chain

that has a sandwich that sells out all the time.

Wow, that is a really good run.

Almost misses the air wall and just keeps going.

from plowing into a duck.

‐ I felt like it slowed me down because I flinched,

On deck we have our oldest athlete of the day,

Age is just a number, you are what you feel,

and I feel really great.

People I think will underestimate me

so I guess I'll be that quiet storm.

You don't know I'm coming, but look out when I do.

in this one, Mike? ‐ I mean, I respect my elders.

The Mega Slide does not. ‐ [laughs]

Floppy entry but she picks up some speed,

hits the launch and that first hurdle.

Oh, Debbie does a nosedive!

Ooh, no, no, no.

‐ Awesome! ‐ And more no.

Roll from the start, Mike.

‐ She flops in on the entry.

A lot of drag down the slide.

She hits that first bump and soars.

It almost shocks her.

We're into round two, which brings our remaining

eight competitors one step closer to our grand prize

of $10,000.

‐ Man, that first round came right down to the wire.

A couple more rounds like that

and I may run out of nails to bite.

‐ Rocsi, I've seen your nails and we'll be halfway

into season three before that starts to be a problem.

‐ Up next is Fly Ball.

Athletes will sit surrounded

by a field of different colored balls.

A 500‐pound cannon ball will drop onto a giant air blaster

and launch our athletes skyward where they'll try

to catch as many balls as they can with a net.

‐ Be ready to swing as soon as you launch

because time will fly even faster than you will.

‐ The blue ones are worth one point,

pink are worth two,

and the gold balls are worth three.

The six athletes with the most points will move on.

The two with the least amount of points are going home.

‐ [screams] ‐ I'm thinking strategy.

You need to get as many balls as possible.

Okay, how do I get those balls?

I swing the damn net! It's not that hard!

[mimics whooshing sounds]

‐ Antonio Banderas would be so proud of you right now.

Mike, time to put away your imaginary net

where Brianna Moshenko is ready and waiting.

‐ She's a PE teacher, so she definitely wants to impress

her students back at her school.

Luckily gravity helped her out when she forgot to fall.

All I know was he was not thinking about swingin'.

My name's Adam Pedicini, and I'm from Australia.

Right now I'm a stay‐at‐home dad.

I have a two‐year‐old daughter and before I was a dad,

I was a dancer.

‐ I was a backup dancer.

Did fashion shows, corporate shows.

I'm surprised that I'm the only one

wearing a Speedo here.

In Australia it's common.

We wear quite a lot of them.

I've got a number of them at home,

uh, so yeah, I‐‐I wasn't sure.

No one else got the memo to wear Speedos but...oh, well.

‐ When you're a man that wears a teeny weenie bikini,

I mean, we could afford it if each of us took a little bit

of a pay cut, so‐‐ ‐ And one winner it is.

Next up, it's the Drag.

Elevated 40 feet in the air,

our athletes will hold on to a water ski handle

as they accelerate off the launch pad,

reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour.

‐ What you have to do here is gold on tight to the handle.

Your instincts will tell you to let go

once you're off the ramp,

but they'll need to time the release

in hopes of hitting the target below.

‐ The five athletes who can get the closest

to the center of the target will move on

to the semifinals‐‐the other one will be going home.

[exciting music]

Let's go up to the launch pad

to kick things off with our first competitor...

Friday Sydell.

‐ Friday does things her own way.

‐ Yes, she does.

‐ She thinks outside the box,

so I'm curious to see what her strategy is

here on the Drag.

‐ My strategy is to put my faith in the universe,

take a leap, and hit the target.

‐ Not much of a strategy there, Mike.

‐ Sometimes simpler, the better.

‐ [exhales] Oh, God.

‐ And she looks a bit nervous.

which doesn't really fare well

This isn't the challenge you want if you're nervous.

What's impressed you the most about today's performances?

‐ Honestly, it's either the incredible courage

that's been on display or the fact that no one

has lost a swimsuit.

Both are equally unbelievable to me.

‐ Up next it's Ripcord.

Our athletes will be yanked 50 feet into the air

and from there they'll need

to grab a ripcord while moving forward

and then pull it at the right time

in hopes of touching down as close to the target

as possible. ‐ This one's gonna be nasty.

You're gonna be pulling three Gs.

That's faster than most roller coasters.

‐ The four athletes who get the closest to the center

of the target will move on to the finals.

The one who is farthest away will go home.

‐ You don't wanna go home right now because

the next round is the finals for $10,000.

‐ Our first competitor, Adam, is ready and waiting.

Our finalists will rocket down our suped‐up mega slide

now 20 feet longer and with a 45‐degree launch

at the end.

‐ I think we've really outdone ourselves,

but there's one more thing.

When they hit that launch,

they'll be in total darkness.

‐ Each athlete's maximum height

plus total distance equals their final score.
