Throughout Season 1, the crew would come to this business
for any specialty printing that we needed for our tricks
and to make copies of production documents.
So when we eventually decided to write tricks for a copy shop,
it was natural to approach this location to shoot in.
I hurt my nose. It was worth it.
And...
Oh, look at this. Art. High art.
Holiday cards.
Michael: Howdy. Man: Hello. How are you?
Good. How you doing, man? You got a pickup?
Yes, sir. All righty.
Not a problem.
Um, I need to make one copy, actually.
Okay.
I needed to make a copy of my driver's license.
Oh, I can do that for you. Okay.
Just one copy. Okay.
Um...yeah. You know, it's funny.
I was just messing with this thing.
These big machines -- It's like...
I have no idea.
I have some at the office, but they're a lot smaller than that.
I know.
This is the big, mammoth one, but the thing is totally...
Jammed. Yeah.
Four cartridges, and they're all getting jammed.
I usually end up taking the little, you know,
photoreceptor out of it.
Yeah. Do you have trouble
with the photoreceptor?
I usually don't take it out. Oh, yeah.
But it'll be thick. Is that all right?
Um, I think so. That's fine.
Yeah. That should make it work.
Let me see what we have here.
Let me put this on.
Oh, yeah.
They keep getting messed up,
and I end up doing all of these things by hand.
If I remember even how to do that.
Oh, yeah.
Scan most of that there. Right?
That'll be pretty good.
[ Camera shutter clicks ]
And then just...
There was an early version of this trick
where I would smear toner all over my hand,
rub the driver's license,
and then magically smear a perfect copy
onto a sheet of paper.
It was really cool but extremely messy,
so we went with the photoreceptor instead.
