When I'm posing as an employee at a shop,

it can be tough to grab people's attention.

They want to get in and out.

We love filming in this marketplace in downtown Atlanta

because people were just moseying around

and willing to stop and chat,

even with a guy selling scorpion lollipops.

You want a scorpion sucker?

It sounds like you do.

Michael: Have you not had one of those before?

You can eat it, like, with or without the scorpion.

Some people go all the way down to eat it with it.

I kind of want to see you eat the scorpion.

-I won't eat the scorpion. -Oh, come on.

You wouldn't do it? And apparently the, like, uh...

Yeah.

You're supposed to eat it by...

Like, you can eat from the claws down

but not down to the stinger.

Would you eat that?

-No. [ Laughs ] -No?

I'll buy it if you eat it.

Yeah? Would you do it?

[ Laughs ] Not the scorpion.

Okay. Just the candy, then. Not the scorpion. Is that good?

-All right. -I'll smash it up, if you want.

All right. Let's do it. Okay.

Okay. I want you to take a bite of the scorpion.

-Yeah. Oop. -Oh, wait. That's alive?

-[ Laughs ] -Hang on a second.

-Oop. -[Bleep]

-All right. Hang on. -How's that even possible?

So, taste the stuff. This actually has, like, a...

-How is that alive? -That -- I don't know.

They have them compressed inside the glucose.

-I can't believe that. -[ Laughs ]

Okay, honestly, did you know it was alive

and you were [bleep] with me or what?

No! I didn't know it was alive!

-[ Laughs ] -I got to Snapchat this bitch.

It's the same kind of breed that it lives in between rocks,

so it's used to, like, hibernating and...

I can't believe it was alive in the sucker.

Yeah.

-Oh, that's crazy. -Did you taste it?

-It's good, though, right? -'Cause that is, like,

the craziest thing I think I've ever seen.

Yeah, they can stay --

they can stay inside the pop for two months,

and then you have to break it out.

And then we -- we send them back, and they'll --

They'll let them live for a little longer.

You know, they'll feed them and stuff,

and then they'll put them back into a pop.

I can't believe that thing's alive.

On second thought, I'm buying one.

-Yeah? -For someone else.

-Okay. Good idea. Yeah. -Hell yes.

-Yeah. They're a buck each. -They're a buck each?

We'll do two, 'cause why not?

-Two of them. -Let's go with that one.

I can't believe these [bleep] are alive.

-That's crazy. -And you can eat it alive?

-I guess so. -But, like, how?

-How does -- -I-I don't...

To me, the most amazing part of this trick

was that the guys were even more excited to buy the candy

once they found out that the deadly poisonous insect

would come back to life.

In this unaired clip,

I wanted to see if I got the same reaction

when I tried to make another sale.

I'm gonna -- We'll give it a try. Here.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. Hold on.

Oh, my God. It's still alive.

-Yeah. -Oh [bleep].

Yeah. Whoops.

-Don't let it bite you, man. -Whoops.

No, no, yeah. He's really active. Hold on.

Yeah. See? How would you eat it?

-That's... -No friggin' way.

It didn't bite you, did it?

No, no, it didn't -- But he was running.

Yeah.

Boy, he came right out of there.

-Wow! -Yeah.

-How are you supposed to eat it? -I don't know.

Because they bite you, and they're, like, nasty.

Oh, the poison.

I love working with animals, and I mean all kinds of animals.

That includes millipedes, scorpions, and spiders.

In fact, I once owned a pet tarantula.

I'm surprised they even... are allowed in the country.

Yeah, me too. So, here -- this one's for you.

-I'm even afraid of this thing. -You're afraid of it?

Just don't let it melt in your pocket.

It'll melt? You know what? I'm not gonna take it.

We have a lot of people who come here, and they --

they want to eat healthy, so we've been candifying fruit.

-Mm-hmm. -And that's really good, too.

Have you ever tasted candified fruit before?

This trick was inspired by a Japanese food trend

called sokkuri sweets,

where candy is made to look exactly like everyday objects --

hats, shoes, even furniture.

But I fill it with candifying gas,

which is a new product that's exclusive to us.

And I fill it up just like this.

Okay?

And that settles into the bottom there.

Now, if you can taste... Just -- Go ahead.

Pluck a grape off of there.

And you taste a normal grape there.

You want to taste that? Yeah?

That's what a grape tastes like. But if you --

Let me pluck one here.

And if I put it on the fork

and let it touch into the candifying gas...

it undergoes a little bit of a change.

The gas will have all of the sugars rise to the surface.

Here, take that. Go ahead. Take the fork.

You want to taste that now?

What does it taste like?

-It almost tastes like a taffy. -Like a taffy, right?

Oh, my God. How did you do that?

Yeah. Well, the gas candifies it.

It brings all of the natural sugars

of the object to the surface. It's good for getting kids

to, like, eat vegetables and stuff like that.

Oh, wow. It got on the fork, too.

-Oh, my God. -Did it get on the fork?

-Look at that fork. -Oh, yeah.

If it gets it, it'll puff it up. I mean, it's probably...

Yeah. It got the fork.

-Anything it touches. -That is ridiculous.

-That is friggin' insane. -I know.

Well, it's not plastic now. Now it's candy.

It's turned to candy. You want a piece?

-I'm not eating a fork. -You don't want to eat the fork?

-No. -Really good.

-Yes. -Not bad, right?

I'm eating a fork. A plastic fork.

And it gives a different flavor, I think, plastic.

Wood is really good, too.

Like -- here, take one of those pencils out.

I'll put a little more gas in here.

And write with it. Make sure it writes well.

Okay. Does that write really well?

Okay. Yeah, the softer leads -- that one's a number 2.

Here. Take yours in there.

As long as it doesn't touch your fingers, you're all right.

And then it undergoes a little bit of a chemical change.

You see that?

-Okay. -Yeah.

And now it's -- Sounds different, too...

-Right. -...on the mug, right?

You want to taste it?

Just ate a [bleep] pencil.

You can eat the pencil.

It's really good. Try it.

-[ Laughs ] -I'm eating a pencil!

Plastic has a different taste. Wood has a different taste.

Even ceramic, if I put the mug in there.

No way.

-Come on. -Did you see that?

It fogs up like that.

Ceramic has, like, a...

I say more of a -- almost a peanutty taste.

Like a butter -- butter sweet.

I'm having some...

I don't think that one went in long enough.

It tastes almost a little -- little porcelain-y.

I like it. It tastes like a marshmallow.

How you doing? Doing some free samples today.

We're doing chocolate oranges,

and we're doing -- -Chocolate oranges?

Chocolate oranges. We make them fresh.

I have some sam-- Oh. I don't have samples.

I can make another one real quick.

One of our executive producers is British

and grew up eating this novelty candy called a chocolate orange.

He brought one to the office, I ate the whole thing,

and it inspired this trick.

And just a little bit of chocolate.

And we do a mixture of bittersweet chocolate

and dark chocolate.

And we do, like, an injection into it.

So, it's kind of like someone would do a candy apple, but...

There we go.

And I can't eat those, 'cause of my teeth --

I don't like to, like, chew through that.

But these are much softer and...

Okay? All right.

And it stays liquid even though it's warmed up.

And, uh, the trick is to find on the orange,

like, a good little pore.

That good. And the fresher the orange, of course,

the better it's gonna be.

We'll inject that for you.

There we go. Inject it into a pore.

Because you know how the inside of an orange is all pulp

and vein patterns?

All that stuff is connected.

So, there we go.

All right. Good.

And you want to just let it kind of spread throughout there,

'cause it'll hit the juice of the orange,

and the chocolate will spread inside.

The coolness of the orange will harden --

harden the, uh, chocolate.

And then you just peel it open.

And the pieces will separate. See, it infuses it in there.

[ Chuckles ]

-It's really tasty. Here. -Wow.

Here, I'll let you reach right in and grab a piece.

That's really crazy.

Yeah. The segments break apart. Taste it. It's really --

-That's crazy. -Yeah.

But it's really good, and I'll let you take

it home, if you like.

The rind will now kind of have a chocolatey smell, too.

It'll be like a citrus chocolate potpourri.

That is so crazy.

-Yeah. -I'm just amazed.

I mean, these -- this is, like, a real orange.

You just squirted chocolate in there, and that's it.

-Yeah. -[ Laughs ]

-I know. -I'm so amazed.

Yeah, if you pull it too early...

Oh, I don't want you to mess up your orange.

-Oh, no. That's okay. -Oh, my goodness.

See how -- they're already naturally separated.

-I'm so amazed at this. -You see --

You see where the patterns come from.

Here, hang on to that.

I'm -- I'm gonna get a little more going.

Oh, now you can do it from the inside or whatever? No?

I've actually never done that.

I mean, I think you have to do it with the --

with the skin sealed, because once it --

once it hits the air, that's what makes it work.

But I'll try it.

It's actually separating it right now.

Look at that go. Wow!

That's -- That's crazy. I never saw it backwards.

That way, you can show people, like, firsthand, too.

Okay, this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

It's a real win for me to be able to pull off a trick

when I've got someone standing right in front of me,

scrutinizing every move.

Now, in this never-before-seen clip,

I want you to see what happened when I tried

a repeat performance in front of a bigger audience.

See, there's still some pulp, but underneath the pulp,

most of the -- See, it...

-Yeah. -It captured it.

It shrinks the orange down a tiny bit, and it absorbs it...

My God. I don't believe that.

They're kind of fun if they bloom like that.

So that's orange on the inside of there?

-Go ahead and taste it. -Get out of here. So, this --

-Yep. -I don't believe this.

You can taste -- It's very citrusy.

And it's del-- I'm gonna have one, too.

If I eat this all day, though, let me tell ya.

-It's hard to believe. -Mm-hmm.

That's good. Taste this.

-You want to taste a piece? -You have to.

Yeah. You should've just

seen him do that.

-Yeah. -Wow.

-Can I touch this? -Yeah, sure.

You want another one? It's really good. Don't be shy.

And how did it, like, harden right away like that?

It's all fruit.

This morning, when she did that,

she also filled the chocolate there,

and now you'll do it again,

and that's why it's so much chocolate.

Oh. Do you think there's already chocolate in that one?

Well, let's open it and look.

I mean, a before-injection -- No. See? It's just an orange.

Now, I just cannot believe it.

Now, how about if you take that and, with it open like that,

if you inject it now, what will it do?

I mean, we can try -- I could try.

-It would seep out. -It would seep --

-Not if you put it, like -- -Suck up some of that chocolate.

You have to put it in the skin 'cause that's how you do it.

If I were to inject it right in here?

Right. What would it do to the chocolate?

I don't know.

Oh, wait, yeah. Oh, there it goes.

Oh, wow! See, you can see it separating.

-Look at that. Wow. -I can not --

That is the craziest thing I've ever seen.

Yeah. Oh, wow! I've never seen it do it.

How did it do that right away?!

-Wow. It does it right away. -Oh, my God. Wow.

-Wow. It does it right away. of shops and restaurants,

we were excited to change it up and try some poolside magic

at a resort hotel on Memorial Day weekend.

But it was rainy and cold the day of the shoot.

Fortunately, these vacationers weren't gonna let a little rain

ruin their holiday.

You guys are all set up with drinks already?

-Yeah? -We're all set. Thanks.

You know, we were offering free poolside cocktails today.

-Really? -Yeah.

Where did you get those? Inside?

-In here. -Oh, yeah, yeah.

Well, you want to try a free one anyway?

You got to taste them. They're so good.

-What's in the jar? -Oh, oh.

These are the tablets for the drinks.

-I want to see that. -I do a, uh,

a strawberry daiquiri, a peach daiquiri,

or a blue-raspberry daiquiri.

What kind of drink would you want?

-Just get whatever you want. -Peach.

Something peach? Like a peach daiquiri?

-Sounds good. -I can try a peach daiquiri.

Yeah, I make them like this.

We use the little tablets now,

'cause they neutralize the, uh, chlorine in the water.

It's confusing to kind of remember which tablet is which,

but it is easier than bartending.

So, we put one of these and one of these.

Yeah, and I just use the pool water.

And I just scoop it in like this...

and swirl it up.

It makes a frozen peach daiquiri.

That should be good for you.

Here you are.

You got to taste that.

I'm sure it tastes great. Who in the world invented that?

Uh, you know, we're the first people who are doing it.

My uncle used to work in the company

that made, uh, pool-testing kits.

Yeah?

So he figured out all the chemicals.

So there's certain ways -- you know,

when you're neutralizing a pool --

You made that out of pool water, right?

Yeah, pool water.

It's literally a poolside cocktail.

-That's good. -Tastes good, right?

-Yeah. -Yeah, it's funny.

It's the same way you can neutralize the chlorine

in a pool and just get all the, you know, elements out of it.

If anybody, you know, pees in the pool, or --

Has he got this patented and everything?

It's patented. Yeah. They're patented tablets.

And you can do it at home, too, if you want.

You learn how to mix just the little tablets.

-Do you sell franchises? -We don't sell franchises yet.

No, but we do sell the tablets in the gift shop.

You think we ought to franchise it?

-Not until I get in with you. -Well, yeah.

Maybe we can make a little bit of money together.

It's my -- It's my uncle's idea,

and we literally haven't told anybody yet.

How economical is that?

Um, the tablets we make at home.

Um, and each tablet costs about a nickel to make.

So, every drink is 10 cents.

It usually uses two drinks. Some of the more --

Like, a Long Island iced tea uses four tablets, so...

Gets a little costly.

Now -- Now, who did this?

-My uncle. -I'd like to talk to him.

-You want to talk to him? -Yeah. Let's finish eating.

Okay, yeah, finish eating, and then you can talk to him.

That'd be great.

Maybe we can go into business together, you know?

-Yeah. -I think --

I think that's what I'm wanting to talk about.

In order to pull off the trick you're about to see,

we needed to only have one person in the hot tub at a time.

Now, this girl must've been wondering

why all her friends suddenly left her alone.

Little did she know they set her up.

Yeah, I know. Can't keep it too hot, though,

or they'll all swim to the bottom.

See if I can get them to come to the surface.

We'll be all right. Yeah.

They do a good job, though, keeping it clean, right?

-Yeah. -And they don't bother you?

That's good. Should get him right up.

Here he goes. Here he goes.

Got him!

How we doing?

[ Chuckles ] I didn't see those in here.

-Oh, yeah. -There's only one?

No, no. There's a whole bunch in there.

They keep it -- They keep it clean.

-Mm. -Yeah.

-I didn't see them at first. -You didn't see them?

Yeah, we don't use chemicals or anything like that.

Just -- Yeah, we have them in the pool, too.

The pool has piranhas that we keep in there at night.

And then, during the day, you know,

we take them out, obviously.

-Yeah. -So...

Nope. I got him.

Yeah. There he is.

When they swim to the surface, I like to pull them out.

That means they're full.

And then I just let them, you know, get hungry,

and then I'll bring them back in tomorrow.

Yeah, there's probably a few still in there, so just --

just keep your feet off the bottom, and you'll be fine.

What the [bleep]?

This next trick was an elaborate production

that required a bunch of random props and a whole lot of space.

It took months to figure out the right backdrop.

Executive producer Russ Arch

came up with the idea of a moving company,

so we ended up naming it after him.

Michael: So, we're gonna be setting up some stuff.

I was just setting up this mirror.

I think I got everything all tightened up.

And, um... Okay, good.

Yeah, we're gonna set this up this way.

Very good.

Okay. Here, let's pull it back over here.

Okay. Set that up. Just make sure it's steady.

And the other thing was, we're gonna build a lamp

that they wanted set up in their house.

-Oh, okay. -Here, let's...

set it back up.

Maybe you can help me figure out how it goes,

'cause I don't remember.

-Here. Let's see. -Yeah.

Okay, okay. Okay.

This looks like -- That looks right here.

Yeah, hold on a second. Let me get this.

There's just, like, a hook on it, right?

Yeah. There's a hook on it back here.

All right. And then...

All right. Here, you take this.

-And I got... -Yeah, okay.

There's two of them.

Wait a minute.

That wasn't right here when we just moved the --

-My heart is, like -- -That just scared me.

-Whoa. That is really... -Weird.

'Cause we just dragged the mirror right here.

And then, behind the mirror...

That is, like, some voodoo-type messed up.

That is crazy. It's, like, the same thing?

And it's set up the same way. That's weird.

Because I know this lady said that each one of these

are one-of-a-kind pieces that she makes.

But we didn't take this out the box at all.

No, no. There was no other box. There was just this.

Wait. Did you bring two lunches?

Oh, nah. Oh, hell nah.

-Wait a minute. -Nah.

This is the one I brought in, because it's broke right there.

I remember -- I picked it up off --

Oh, my God. Get the hell out of here.

And it's broke right there, too.

-It is? -Yes, it is.

They're both broke in the same spot?

-Yes. Look at it. Look at it. -Okay.

I'm so serious. Look at it. You see it?

-Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. -Okay, now look.

There's two of these, and one is broken.

When we were developing this trick,

I was determined to figure out a way

to get the other person to break the bookend,

but I wasn't able to do it, so I had to be the clumsy one.

-And do the same as that? -I don't know.

Here, let me see this. Stay right there.

Do you see the reflection of it in the mirror?

-Yeah. -You can? If I go like this,

you can see the reflection in the mirror? Like that?

Yeah. And then...

How did you do that? No!

Yeah. And then...lection of it in the mirror?

When I perform my magic, I don't want people to just watch.

I want them to get involved with what they're seeing.

This is a perfect example. This lady doesn't see magic.

She sees a moneymaking opportunity.

Michael: Oh, my God. Okay. That's --

-No. How did you do that? -I did not do that.

No. Wait a minute. I have $100.

-You do? -Yeah.

Now, if you put that back there...

-I'm not. -I want to know!

I'm gonna do it.

If you do it and it appears, we go.

-Yeah? Okay. -Yeah.

Just reach in?

-Oh...my gosh. -Are you doing that?

When someone is all-in on a scenario,

I kind of hate bursting their bubble

and telling them it was an illusion.

She thought she was about to be on Easy Street,

but she got to be on our show instead.

I think I know how this is happening.

-H-How? -This is -- I read about this.

This is called the Carbonaro Effect.

-Have you ever heard of that? -No, but I believe in it.

I do. I believe in it.

"The Carbonaro Effect."

It's the name of a hidden-camera magic TV show.

Am I on that right now?

Like the one you're on right now.

[ Laughs ] Stop playing!

-I'm not playing! -I'm on a TV show?

I'm Michael Carbonaro. I'm a magician.

You freaked me out! Oh, no!

-Yes! -This is crazy!

-I know I'm not crazy! -Oh, my God.

You were so awesome. How did you -- How...?
