There's a thrift store near our production office
that's full of weird merchandise,
and we're always in there seeking new inspiration
for tricks.
Nobody questions the crazy stuff you find in a place like this,
which makes it a perfect backdrop for the show.
You like to collect stuff?

I have something that we just got in from the '70s.

There's too many trigger-happy folks out there
that hunt nowadays.

and then it will just fall over because the batteries die.

Probably. Whenever they feel something,
he'll move his head to where they feel --

because they looked so real.

because people were taking them home and cooking them.

Usually, when I tell my team
that a trick is too ridiculous to work,
my instincts are spot on.
In this case, I admit that I was wrong.
But I don't like to be wrong,
so I ran the trick again to see
if the first success was a fluke.
They used to make them in the '70s.
The head goes on, and then you'd just give it a shake like this,
and then it's like -- it looks really real.
Wow. Yeah.
It's the best decoy they have.
That's interesting.
Yeah, because they look so real
that people were actually shooting the decoys.

in this case, when they want me to dismantle a live duck
on the spot.

When I pose as an employee at a store,
I can try out my magic on all the different shoppers
who wander in.
But when I pretend to be a customer, it's a challenge,
'cause I've really only got one shot
at tricking the employees who are working that day.

This show requires me to take on all sorts of odd jobs
and act like I know what I'm doing.
Although it looks easy enough, working the wine counter
at a liquor store was a real challenge,
because I know absolutely nothing about wine.

The way they make it is with the grapes that are frozen.

after the first frost?

And then once it hits into the oxygen,
that chill returns.

It's hitting the air here, and it's just going right to ice.
Okay, and then it just automatically goes to that?
Well, I guess it'll probably melt in time to drink it,
and it'll be, like, the right temperature.

These girls were actually the last attempt at this trick.
But our frozen wine also gave us this previously unseen version
and an equally great reaction.

and we just run it through this scanner.

It goes really, really slow, apparently.

but that scanner you see on the table,
specially built for us by an engineering team.
Took two weeks to develop,
and at that point, it was the most expensive prop
we'd ever commissioned on the show.
Unfortunately, several times, the photo got stuck in it,
and we had to end the trick earlier than we expected.
