Episode 18

Just give me yours.

Then should I go without shoes?

It is softer and better than I thought.

Then you could hand those shoes over to me now if you want.

How petty of you take them away after giving them to me.

Princess.

Is there something you like?

Oh no.

Please do not decline. I wish to give you a gift.

He wishes to buy you a gift.

I really am fine.

She says it is fine.

Why don't we get going?

- Please enjoy. - Thank you.

So this is the spicy chicken feet in Joseon that I've heard of.

It is very spicy. Will you be all right?

It is all right. I wanted to try it once.

Wow.

It's my first time tasting such spicy chicken feet.

I am relieved to hear that it suits your taste.

We cannot leave out alcohol with food like this.

Let's have a drink.

Soju is the perfect combination with chicken feet.

You should eat comfortably.

You like chicken feet and soju, don't you?

The Imperial Prince will...

Mind your own business.

What is it?

The princess hasn't had any chicken feet.

I apologize, Princess. I only thought about myself.

He is sorry for not being considerate of you.

Why don't you order something else that you can eat?

You jerk!

"Jerk"?

"Jerk"... what does this mean?

Uh...

It means she's in a good mood.

Jerk...

Jerk...

Good mood.

I will carry her.

She is to become my woman.

I cannot leave her to another man.

How did you end up drinking so much?

Well, it just ended up that way.

The Imperial Prince carried you here himself.

The Imperial Prince?

Your Highness.

That fake letter is gone.

We left your place empty just as you told us to and the queen came by.

The queen did...

Princess Hyemyeong.

I apologize that I could not tell you this in person.

That is why I am writing to you.

I went to get the queen three years ago.

However, she had passed away of illness.

She is dead.

I thought we would find some great secret.

The deposed queen is dead.

She wanted to create trouble one last time before going to the Qing Dynasty.

I was nervous for no reason.

They will definitely make a move.

Anything will do.

Just find me a weakness to use against the Minister of the Left.

Yes, Your Highness.

I don't know what they will do to Wonja once I leave.

Even if I can't pull out the root, I need to get rid of the branches.

Please hurry. I don't think I have time.

I will carry her.

She is to become my woman.

I cannot leave her to another man.

My... woman.

Your Highness, please wake up.

Imperial Prince Dalhan didn't know what you would like.

So he sent all of this over.

Why do you look so unwell?

Are you feeling sick?

No. I am fine.

What are you planning to say that you are being so dramatic?

I...

have found someone who I wish to marry.

Oh...

That is quite sad for me to hear.

All right.

Who will be the man to take you away from me?

Who is it that you are taking so long to tell me?

It is Young Master Gyeon Woo.

Do you mean the son of the Minister of Education?

Yes, Father.

You cannot.

Father.

I said no.

- I want him. - Da Yeon.

Haven't you given me everything I've wanted?

I heard you gave the princess shoes as gifts.

20 pairs, at that.

The Imperial Prince of a great nation is on another level.

The princess smiled brightly when she saw those shoes.

I could not tell which pair she was smiling about.

So... I bought all of them to give to the princess.

Young Master Gyeon.

What did he say?

The princess smiled so brightly at the sight of the shoes.

He did not know which ones she'd like, so he bought them all.

It is only a proper gift if you think about what the person likes.

Why would you do things with so little thought?

Wonja.

Remember your manners.

What did Wonja say?

Tell him exactly what I said.

Wonja.

Why are you behaving so rudely?

Prince Wonja is very sad to see his sister leave for the Qing Dynasty.

Everyone has gathered today?

It is the formal meeting with the family.

They just need to choose a date now.

Minister, have a drink.

When should we set our deal for?

The sooner, the better.

Rushing things could go wrong.

There are many eyes to be wary of.

You are right. You are.

Everyone, let's all have a drink.

This drink tastes bitter.

I suppose Wonja does not like me very much.

He is very close to the princess, so it seems that way.

Ah, I understand.

Then I will have to find a way to win favor with him.

Soon he will become my family.

Find him quickly.

What is wrong?

Well, the problem is...

What do you mean Wonja is gone?

We looked all over his residence. He is not there.

Prince Wonja!

Your Highness, Your Highness!

Your Highness, Your Highness!

He's not there?

Find him quickly.

Prince Wonja!

Wonja!

Wonja!

Wonja!

Prince Wonja.

Prince.

Wonja!

Prince Wonja... Prince Wonja!

Prince Wonja!

Prince Wonja.

Master.

Are you all right?

Are you injured at all?

Master...

The princess is very worried.

You should hurry back.

I really hate my sister going to the Qing Dynasty.

Prince...

I do not want to let her go.

I'm worried I will not see her again.

I am so scared.

Wonja!

Sister!

Wonja, where were you?

Sister...

Where was Wonja?

He was in the jar storage yard.

Where did Wonja go?

I wonder where Wonja is.

Oh, I just can't figure it out.

Wonja!

Sister!

Oh, I found him.

What took you so long to find me?

Because you were hidden so well.

Now it's your turn to hide. I will find you.

I better hide well so that you can never find me.

Then I will count to 10.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

You should go in and rest.

Young Master Gyeon.

Thank you.

Thank you...

so much.

I am worried about the princess, who is leaving.

I am worried about Wonja as well.

I did not think he would react this way.

My heart aches.

We cannot keep the princess here.

He had been glaring at the Imperial Prince all this time.

He ended up causing trouble in the end.

Perhaps he is becoming like his sister.

That little thing is very problematic.

What would change even if Prince Wonja behaves this way?

The princess has been quiet lately.

If she happens to change her mind...

You can be the one to comfort Prince Wonja, Your Majesty.

How long must I stress about this?

Why is it so difficult to get rid of a mere girl?

It will be over soon, Your Majesty.

Elder.

The situation with the princess is serious.

Watch her actions outside the palace.

I understand.

Also... look into that boy, Gyeon Woo.

Yes, Elder.

I really hate my sister going to the Qing Dynasty.

Prince...

I do not want to let her go.

Are you stupid? Why can't you speak up?

Why can't you say anything!

I wanted to say something, but...

he is your friend.

Friend? What friend?

I have never had a friend like that.

I held back because I was thinking of you.

I'll hold back if needed.

Who told you to do so?

"That man is my lover."

"That man is my lover." Why can't you say it?

How could I while in this state?

You scared us!

- Gosh... - Seriously.

Why are you standing there not making a sound?

What is that story about?

Oh, you actually have interest in one of our stories?

The title of it is "Lovers of Paju."

Because of all these issues

they cannot say anything although they are in love.

It is the sad story of a man and woman who are star-crossed lovers.

Great, right? I think this will be a hit.

Why can't you say anything? Why can't you say it?

Why can't you say anything?

How could I while in this state?

Oh, this is lovely.

It looks great on you.

Looks like it has found its owner.

I have the one Gyeon Woo bought me.

This is much nicer than that Goryeo or Silla style bag.

This is much more luxurious.

You were lying down with a headache because of just recently.

I don't know if I can accept such a gift.

It is just a small gift. Please don't feel burdened by it.

Oh, it's so pretty. It's so nice.

I will drop by often from now on.

Mother, I'm home.

Yes. Come on in.

Brother.

Hello there.

Do I make you uncomfortable?

Didn't we discuss this already?

Is this because of the princess?

I had hoped you would answer no.

How can you act so surprised?

The princess will end up going to the Qing Dynasty.

What is it that you want to say?

The Crown Prince's official appointment depends on this marriage.

I heard that Princess Hyemyeong would do anything for Prince Wonja.

She has no choice but to go.

- So you should not bother-- - Excuse me.

Gyeon Woo!

Where are you off to in such a rush?

Are you going to see the princess?

Yes, I have something to discuss with her.

That's good. I was headed there myself.

I heard you found Prince Wonja yesterday. I want to thank you.

There is no need to thank me. I did what was necessary.

You helped someone who will become my family.

I should most definitely thank you.

I am glad I came to Joseon.

I've met a good friend and made a good connection.

I think I would have regretted it if I had turned down the invitation.

Invitation?

By the way, where do people from Joseon go to make a wish?

Princess.

What did you wish for?

What did you wish for, Your Highness?

It is a secret.

I could make it come true, couldn't I?

I could make it come true.

Please tell me.

Then may I tell you my wish first?

My wish was to spend my lifetime with you, Princess.

Please interpret my words.

What is it?

- Young Master Gyeon? - Gyeon Woo?

I cannot interpret that.

Those words...

I cannot interpret them for you.

[My Sassy Girl]

Prepare for the feast and do not hold back on any expenses.

I feel strange about this sudden feast.

I am sorry for being a bad father.

Protect my Wonja once I leave.

I am trying to decide on the wedding dowry.

Why is it that you look excited?

Why would I be?

The Minister of the Left recommends him.

Is he on his side now?

I will open up your future path for you.

What am I to do?

You now owe me a great debt.

Only if you leave for the Qing Dynasty quietly...

Our debt has now been settled.
