Episode 13

[My Sassy Girl]

Show me your face.

I am positive.

I have allowed him in as you ordered.

This is really amazing.

How did you write so many books? What's your secret?

They are the products of the inspiration I get from beautiful women.

And thanks to you, I think I will be able to write up a storm tonight!

Yes, Your Highness.

[The Secret Private Life of Her Highness, the Princess]

"The Secret Private Life of Her Highness, the Princess."

Oh no, you can't!

This is definitely not a work based on you, Princess!

It is merely a novel.

I hope you don't misunderstand.

It is all right.

No, you cannot! You cannot... no.

I told you it is all right.

I'm not such a conservative person!

You... could potentially not be all right after reading this.

What are you doing? You're making me more curious!

It is boring, Your Highness.

It is trash. It should be destroyed.

I wrote it.

Please kill me.

I can't sleep if I'm curious.

If you read it, you may not be able to sleep.

You must have read it, Young Master Gyeon.

What do you mean? I don't read things like that.

Oh, you read it.

That's why you're acting like this.

What is it?

Master Min.

No, you can't.

Min Yoo Hwan?

He is back in the city?

He must have heard that the princess has left the palace.

He is walking the path to the Grim Reaper on his own.

What should I do?

Do not allow him to meet the princess.

However...

keep him alive.

I have many things to ask him.

Stay quiet.

It is dangerous.

I need to meet him.

It could be another trap.

It doesn't matter.

I don't care if it's a trap, so let me go!

Then... let's go together.

I cannot send you away on your own.

You have made a bad move.

Do you think so?

How is it that the princess is still away from the palace?

I am making a strategic move.

It is not fun if I show all my moves at once.

It is not fun if it is too complicated either.

Does the princess bother you a lot?

I will get rid of her soon, so do not worry.

Please hurry.

It is getting harder to wait.

I have brought the guest.

Good work.

How could you agree to the release of the butcher?

I searched the butcher shop thoroughly.

I could not find any evidence that he had anything to do with the printed flyers.

Do you expect me to keep an innocent man in jail?

Jung Ki Joon.

It's been a long time.

What do you mean the deposed queen is alive?

The princess has her jade ring.

I'm sure she was wearing it on that day 10 years ago.

That cannot be.

Did you not confirm her dead body?

I could not confirm her face.

What if that body was not hers?

What if she was not killed by wild animals?

What made you think that?

I believe...

Master Min has found the deposed queen.

Do you mean Min Yoo Hwan, the princess's teacher?

They apparently met in private after he went away on a royal mission.

That sneaky girl is trying to find her mother, I'm certain of it.

She's trying to get rid of me and get her mother back here.

The king must never know.

He must never find out.

You must get rid of them. The princess...

or Master Min.

That is not what is important right now.

If the deposed queen is alive, who kept her alive and why?

Shouldn't we figure that out first?

Have you been doing well?

I suppose living on the run must have been difficult.

Why didn't you come to me earlier?

We have much to discuss.

Your Majesty, the queen is here to see you.

Let her enter.

What is it?

I heard you've been unable to sleep, Your Majesty.

I brought you some lotus leaf tea.

I had more than enough tea today. You may just leave it.

Is this about the princess?

I am worried as well. I have stayed up all night.

Though she is away

I feel nervous keeping her outside the palace.

I will teach her well and take care of her.

What do you think about bringing her back?

Queen.

Yes, Your Majesty?

If you are so nervous and worried, why don't you drink this lotus tea?

You may leave now.

I have much work to do.

The way that the king looked at me...

it was like there was a cold breeze.

It was that day.

I am no longer in his eyes. I am certain of it.

Oh, what am I to do?

If the king strays further from me...

Your Majesty.

Tonight is the night that you were talking about.

Where is my drink?

It's coming.

Here you go. Thank you.

Excuse me.

What is it?

Let's return now. Everyone must be worried.

Are you going to stay out all night?

We must return.

You can go back by yourself if you wish.

Do you believe he is going to return?

Did you not see that he left with Scarface?

Why don't you report it to the Office of Internal Audit?

Whether he is here to see you or hurt you

they will know better--

I can't do that.

He will be executed if he is caught.

I can't put Master Min in danger.

You will end up hurt then, Your Highness.

What will you do meeting with a fugitive?

What do you know?

What do you know to talk that way?

Because of him...

I do not want you to put yourself in any more danger.

I no longer...

want you to be in pain.

Is this where you were?

Please hurry.

The king is waiting.

She was going to the bookstore with Young Master Gyeon.

Why didn't the guards go with her?

They said they would be back soon.

They didn't want to draw attention to themselves.

Where are they and what's taking so long?

Do you think Gyeon Woo is in a relationship with the princess?

They were under the blanket together in the room before.

Don't say such nonsense.

It's bad luck to say such things out loud.

Honestly, the two of them are acting odd.

That mouth of yours...

I'm already so angry with all this talk of becoming the king's son-in-law.

Just wait until she returns.

I don't care if she's a princess. I'll kick her out!

Oh... Gyeon Woo.

Gyeon Woo, where are you? Where are you?

I apologize, Your Majesty.

No need for apologies.

I am the one who is a burden on you, Minister.

How could you say such a thing?

I do not know if it is all right to continue leaving the princess here.

You should end her trip away and get her married.

That is the only way...

you can protect the princess.

If you put all 100 talismans in her residence

the king's feelings for the princess will become distant.

His feelings will be redirected to you.

We must not fail like we did the last time.

Since she is away...

it is the very best time, is it not?

Mother.

Queen, what are you doing here this late at night?

I suddenly missed the princess so much today.

I thought I might feel better if I visited her residence.

Is that so?

You had the same idea as us.

Grandma and I missed her, so we came here.

Really?

It is amazing how much we think alike.

I will send word once she returns.

Please do not worry too much.

Father.

I apologize, Your Majesty.

It is all my fault.

Your stay here will now end.

Return to the palace.

Minister, send her once the carriage is prepared.

Yes, Your Majesty.

What happened?

I already explained it to you.

- We went to the bookstore. - The guards

went to the bookstore to look.

What are you hiding?

Tell me the truth.

I have nothing...

to tell you.

What about Her Highness?

She says she would like to be alone.

What do you mean he was the princess's lover?

It was a rumor I read.

His name was Min Yoo Hwan.

He went on a royal mission three years ago.

His whereabouts are unknown to this day.

His whereabouts are unknown?

During an inspection, he took a bribe and looked the other way.

Then he got caught.

He's probably still on the run.

What do you know?

What do you know to talk that way?

Your stay here will now end.

Return to the palace.

What do you mean the princess is staying out late at night?

I overlooked the fact that she ran away when she was being punished.

She is becoming even more foolhardy.

If even Young Master Gyeon is not speaking up about it

I think there must be a good reason.

What could she be up to?

How about we marry off the princess?

If you have a son-in-law, she will have someone to lean on.

She will stop her travels outside.

Selection of a king's son-in-law is no easy task.

I do not know who they will use against the princess to pressure her.

The king visited the home of the Minister of Education.

However, the princess disappeared without a word again.

The Office of Internal Audit had to search everywhere.

It was chaos.

She spotted someone she was glad to see and left on her own.

Now...

I think we can reveal what we have prepared.

Where are you going?

Are you going to look for him?

I have to see him.

If I return to the palace, I don't know when I can come back out.

This could be the last chance I have to see him.

Your Highness.

Let me go, Young Master Gyeon.

Please.

Her stay away from the palace will end.

We will start the process of selecting a husband for her.

I will ban all marriage until then.

Everyone, please hurry with plans of the princess's marriage.

Your Majesty, I do not think a selection process is necessary.

What do you mean by that?

The Qing Dynasty's imperial household has sent a proposal for the princess.

Your Majesty, if Joseon and the Qing Dynasty connect through marriage

nothing could provide friendlier relations than that.

They say the young man is a favorite of the Emperor.

It will be a great help to Joseon if he becomes your son-in-law.

How can you send the princess to a place so far away?

Is this not a good way to silence the people's grievances with the princess?

Minister of Defense.

You speak too harshly.

What did you say?

Your Majesty.

Marriage is an important matter.

It is the marriage of this nation's princess, at that.

Please consider this matter carefully.

It is true that we must consider this carefully.

I feel we could lose a good match.

Please think of the princess.

That will not do.

I cannot send the princess to the Qing Dynasty.

The sudden proposal from the Qing Dynasty...

I think they are up to something.

I will never allow it.

What will they plot next?

I am starting to worry.

Why do they continue to go after the princess?

Are you saying you could not change the king's mind?

Trying to send her to the Qing Dynasty was too much.

You should have let them go ahead with the selection process.

It isn't over.

It is only just starting.

So... he insists on sending the princess to the Qing Dynasty.

The Minister of the Left says they will find a way.

He could cross the sea to Tamra.

He could send her far away to a rural area.

Yet he insists on sending her to the Qing Dynasty.

Do you think he has other intentions?
