Father....

Joyoung...!

Joyoung...! Joyoung..!

Your deplorable son has risen at last.

I knew you would. I knew you would walk again! I know my son wouldn`t give up!

-Father... -You`ve done it.

You got up on your own, so the work is half done. Now you must build up your strength.

You must rise and reclaim Goguryeo!

I will, Father. I will get my strength back.

Yes, you must.

My son is back! Dae Joyoung is back!

-Is it true? -Yes, Your Majesty.

-I`m told he`s in training to rebuild his strength. That`s wonderful news!

Dae Joyoung has regained mobility!

I`m in amazement.

His body was irreperable state when I left him. (Mimosa)

It`s the mind that rules the body. His strong mind has healed his dying body. (King Bojang:28th King of Goguryeo)

Keep a close contact with him. Andong Protectorate has already begun capturing our people to send to Tang.

We must initiate our plan as soon as Dae Joyoung is fully recovered.

Yes, Your Majesty.

General! General!

You must hurry.

Chulin was captured trying to escape and the Khan is about to punish her.

Hurry, general!

I`ve been very patient with you, Chulin.

But you ignor my every warning and tried to run away again.

As the Khan of Khitan and your Father, I can`t overlook this. (Li Jinzhong:Khitan tribe leader)

Death is the punishment you deserve, but you will be disciplined instead.

Fifty lashes to each of them!

Khan, fifty lashes could kill them!

What are you waiting for? I gave an order!

Stop!

Khan, you can`t lay a whip to Chulin.

Why not?

What are you waiting for? Start the flagellation!

Chulin... is carrying a baby.

What did you say?

Chulin is with a child.

Who`s the father of the child?

I asked you a question!

I am the father of the child.

Chulin was trying to run away because she`s carrying my child. I am the one who deserves punishment

Explain this.

I...violated Chulin.

Chulin is not at fault. I am to blame alone.

In a moment of weakness, I...

How dare you!

No,Khan! Don`t do this!

Lock this bastard up at once!

What just happened?

General Li Kaigu lied to save the baby.

Li Kaigu is the one who killed the baby`s father. He won`t let the baby survive.

(Chulin: Li Jinzhong`s Daughter)

I came under Xue Rengui, so I could stay and protect my brother`s child. (Gulsabiwu)

I can`t leave the child in danger.

Come with me and we will escape together.

Security has gotten tighter than ever.

I will protect my brother`s one and only child even if I have to trade my life.

Don`t push yourself too hard. It could be more harm than good.

-He`s doing great isn`t he. -He is indeed.

You`re making amazing progress.

This was general Yang Manchun`s iron bow.

It`s a powerful bow that can`t be drawn with the strength of an ordinary man.

It`s yours now.

Father...!

If you can draw this bow and hit the target. (Dae Jungsang:Dae Joyoung`s Father)

your recovery will be complete.

But untill then you can`t leave this village or resume your work.

Are you all right?

-I think I`ve reached my limit. -Don`t be weak.

I`m trying so hard, but I`m not getting any stronger. My body doesn`t feel like it is my own.

You`re almost there. Try a little bit harder. (Lady Sukyoung:King Bojang`s Niece)

I don`t have this kind of time. The world is changing too fast.

Did you think that it would be easy to get the country back?

Recapturing Goguryeo will take more time and efforet than it does to get back your strength back.

You are better today than you were yesterday.

And tomorrow you will be better than you are today. So don`t rush.

Get up now. This isn`t like you.

Come inside. Your potion is getting cold.

Let me out of here!

General, You can`t leave without the Khan`s order.

I`m going to see the Khan now. Open this door! (Li Kaigu)

But general, you could be getting yourself into bigger trouble.

How dare you! Didn`t you hear me?

Open this door now or I`ll kill you both!

We`re trying to protect you, General. Hey, What are you doing?

General! General!

What do you mean? Where did he go?

-He went to see the Khan. -What could he be up to?

-Let`s go. Yes, my lady.

Out of my way. Out of my way!

-How dare you barge in here! -I must speak to you, Khan.

I don`t care about what you have to say. Take him out of here.

Yes.

-Touch me and you`re dead! -How dare you!

Where do you think you are!

I have not once defined your order in all the years of my service.

But this is one time I will not back down.

"Back Down"? What do you mean by that?

Give your daugther to me.

What?

Chulin is carrying my child. If you can`t let me have her hand in marrige, Kill me here right now.

Kill me or give me your daughter. Those are your only choices.

Whatever you decide, I will abide.

Father,

This is Chulin`s decision not mine. What is your choice?

You can`t have a child without a father. If you don`t want this marriage.

I will kill Li Kaigu and the child inside you.

Give me some time to think. I will decide soon.

You scared me, Kaigu.

You planned this knowing that I would never give up my baby.

I have no regrets about what I`ve done.

-You are an enemy to my child that killed his or her father. -If you put it that way so would be the Khan.

No, the entire khitan tribe would be the baby`s enemy.

Dae Joyoung is already dead.

It doesn`t matter who fathered this child.

It`s you baby, so it`s mine, too.

I can`t never let you in my heart.

I`m not asking you to let me in. You just protect your baby.

Joyoung!

Five thousand? You only have 5,000 maidens captured?

Virgins are a few, sir. And they`re even harder to find now since they have all gone into hiding.

Oh Boy... (Xue Rengui)

I`m being constanly hounded by the court

How are we going to round up tweenty thousand women at this rate?

There is a solution, general.

There is?

Our orders are to send women

It doesn`t stipulate that they have to be unmarried women. (Shin Sung)

So?

Why not send young married women?

-Married women? -That`s a great idea.

Married women are everywhere. (Bu Kiwon)

Rounding up tweenty thousand of them should be effortless. (Bu Kiwon)

Well, that`s one idea, but.....

I guess we don`t have a choice. Suppose it make no difference whether they are married or not.

-All we have to do is to meet our quota. -Give me your order, sir.

and I will take care of this right away. (Sa Bugu)

Fine, go ahead.

There is no sense in delaying something like this. Bring them in quickly and get it over with.

Bastards you can`t do this!

Stand in our way and you`re dead. Move!

First they take the maidens and now the married with children?

This is mild compared to what`s happening outside the city.

Their barbarity worsens each day, but we haven`t even started our work. This is truly frustrating....

-Bu Kiwon and his henchmen are here with a group of Tang merchants. -Tang Merchants?

I think they`re slave traders. (Auhong)

Slave traders?

Bu Kiwon is meeting slave traders?

I`ll give you a generous price for them.

-But first, take this -No,

Smuggle out women we have in custody? Why are you getting me into this?

Who knows when the Tang government will drop us? We have to be prepared for rainy days.

This is a very profitable business.

You will be able to amass a fortune if all goes well.

Fine, Then we shall do it. We shall live the good life someday.

Of course.

He`s done it! Joyoung has finally done it!

Are you prepared for the trip to Liaodong?

-Yes, Father. -Lady Sukyoung?

His Majesty has asked to bring her back.

His Majesty?

I would very much like to see His Majesty as well. (Lady Sukyoung:King Bojang`s Niece)

The Tang Chinese are capturing every Goguryeoan women in sight in Liaodong.

Yes, I know.

But even if I am unluky and captured, they won`t be able to hold me with His Majesty there.

Have a safe trip. I`m sure His Majesty misses you very much. (Dae Jungsang:Dae Joyoung`s Father)

Thank you general.

We don`t know what His Majesty has planned for you. You will need to discuss in detail with him.

Yes, Father.

Go now.

We`ve kept his majesty waiting too long.

(Tsui Sing Lau, Liaodong Fort)

You`ve gone too far this time! Taking wives and mothers?

This is not your concern.

Do you know what the public sentiment is like in Liaodong? (Yeon Namseng)

If the people should rise up like they did in Pyongyang.... (Yeon Namseng)

That`s why you were sent here with the king of Joseon to pacify the public.

Are you telling the governor`s office to clean up the mess the protectorate made.

Lord Yeon,

You`re under an illusion.

What do you mean?

You work for Tang.

You are not here to protect the Goguryeoans.

-General Xue is right, -Your Majesty!

Life is life no matter how you live it.

Why fuss with little things and make life complicated?

I agree.

The governor`s office and the protectorate are a team. (Li Jinzhong:Khan a Khitan tribal leader)

What`s the point in frowning at each other.

Fine.

I`m leaving, so do whatever you wish!

Wait, Lord Yeon.

aren`t you going to have a drink with us?

You can drink my share as well.

That man has no respect!

Unbelievable!

I can`t believe that pathetic man was once the king of Goguryeo!

The banquet is ready. Shall we go?

Let`s go.

Oh, there is something I must speak to you about.

Yes, General.

There is a blesse event coming up.

I would like to hold a wedding ceremony here.

A WEDDING?

Are you getting married again, General?

The Khan`s daughter Chulin and General Li Kaigu is tying the knot.

Is that right?

Congratulations, Khan.

Thank you, Would that be alright?

It would be our pleasure.

Just tell us when and everything will be prepared.

Thank you.

Now please follow me.

What`s going on?

You said His Majesty would drive the Tang Chinese out of this land!

The times have changed. Look at you.

Who knew that you`d become Xue Rengui`s faithful subordinate?

-That`s.... -No one can blame anyone.

It`s the times that deceive men.

You`re so quiet, General!

I don`t much care for women, (Xue Rengui)

How unusual.

They say great heroes are sensualist as well but you say you don`t care for women.

General Xue doesn`t like loquacious people. That`s why he doesn`t like women.

Is that right I never knew that about you.

The truth is I have a wife back home. I came out into the world

to escape her constant yelling and nagging.

Then you must thank her for your success. (Honpei)

Yes, I suppose you`re right. At any rate, I don`t much care for women.

It`s your choice to reject a blessing, but that`s too bad.

What do you mean?

There is a famous gisaeng who is the pride of Tsui Sing Lau.

But if you don`t want her...

What about us?

Are you saying that this wench is too good for us?

Hongpei!

He`s right.

All of these distinguished men are heroes and sensualists. Call the girls out.

Well, if you must insist.

What do you think? Did you enjoy the performence?

-General? -Huh? Yes, I did.

What is your name?

Answer the general`s question.

Audacious wench!

Don`t you know who this is?

She can`t speak.

What? You mean she`s mute?

Yes, general.

What stroke of fate! You don`t like talkative women, and here is a silent beauty!

Quiet, Hongpei.

But she doesn`t attend to the guests (Mimosa)

She only entetains with her dance and music. It is the house rule, so please respect it.

But surely she has a name.

Her name is Geumlan.

Geumlan?

Geumlan.....

-Are you really going to marry Li Kaigu? -I must protect the baby, I have no choice.

Let me take the baby once it`s born.

What do you mean? (Chulin:Li Jinzhong`s daughter)

This baby is my brother`s one and only child. (Gulsabiwu)

I can`t let it grow up as Li Kaigu`s child.

-This is my child and I`m going to raise it myself. -This is Great Goguryeo`s child.

A boy or girl,

I will raise this baby to become a great warrior.

No! I`m not letting anyone take my baby!

My lady! General Li is coming.

What are you doing here?

I am a free man who can go anywhere I please.

Don`t come near Chulin. (Li Kaigu)

If I catch you here again, I`ll kill you.

I may be serving General Xue right now, but you`re still my enemy.

Don`t let your guard down. I will avenge my brother.

Welcome. His Majesty awaits you.

-Your Majesty... -Your Majesty...

Before us is the great man that founded Goguryeo.

And before him is the malefactor that brought down his thousand year regime.

Your Majesty....

My pain has been worse than death... and my remorse has been deeper than that pain.

Now, I will returne that grief and pain, return my people`s wrath and sorrow, (King Bojang:28th King of Goguryeo)

and pay Tang back a thousand fold for the abuse and humiliation Goguryeo has been made to suffer.

We have neither weapons nor soldiers to go up against Tang. But only blood can avenge blood.

We will slay the primary enemy that took the country from us and the traitors tha betrayed the country by aiding them.

Remember.

All we have is our swords our wrath, and our burning desire.

We must achive what an army of thousands have failed to achieve.

Dong Myoung Chun Ki Gae Sae...

It means to cover the world with bright energy from the east.

-And following the spirit of King Dongmyoungsung? -That`s right.

We will form a secret organization and call ourselves the Dongmyoungchun League.

Dongmyoungchun League...

Dongmyoumgchun....

-Officials of the protectorate frequent this facility. -Incluting Xue Rengui.

Officials of the protectorate frequent this facility. Incluting Xue Rengui.

So we will establish a base here to carry out our work.

First communicate my intent to General Dae Jungsang.

We must acquire competent and trustworthy agents to do our work.

And I need general Dae Jungsang to recruit them.

I understand, Your Majesty.

What`s this?

It`s a list of people we must get rid of.

-You mean it`s a hit list? -Exactly, it`s a hit list.

In a few days, there will be a wedding ceremoni here at Tsui Sing Lau.

That`s when our league will carry out our first assignment.

Whose wedding is it?

Li Jinzhong`s daughter Chulin and Li Kaigu.

Would you...repeat that?

Chulin and Li Kaigu are getting married.

Joyoung!

Have you heard anything about Gulsabiwu by any chance?

How could he!

Gulsabiwu that bastard has betrayed us and gone to Xue Rengui!

Joyoung, I`m going ti kill him. My rage won`t subside until that bastard`s head comes off.

What in the world is going on?

I can accept that bastard betraying us, but Lady Chulin marrying Li Kaigu? How could that be?

The wedding is tomorrow. You should sleep early tonight.

They say time changes everything...

My baby will be born...

Will I still miss him like this

when I`m old and gray?

My Lady....

I can`t bear it. I miss him so much...

I want so much to hear his voice and touch his face.... I can`t bear it...

I`m going to kill him.

That blasted bastard Gulsabiwu... I`m going to kill him...

There must be an explanation. Chulin would never do this.

We are to execute the league`s first assignment tomorrow. Have you decided who is first?

General, have you chosen your first target from the list?

Yes, I have.

Who is he?

It`s none other than...
