Recently, a large group of worshippers have been praying for help in the north.

Praying that heavenly officials will come and pacify the evil ghosts' malice.

Two junior officials from the Middle Court are willing to assist you.

Nan Feng.

Fu Yao.

Mount Yujun

saying that there's a Ghost Bridegroom living in the mountain.

Our goal this time is to capture this Ghost Bridegroom.

Do you know the way to the nearest Ming Guang temple?

Ming Guang Temple

Ming Guang temple?

We don't have a Ming Guang temple here.

Heaven Official's Blessing

Episode Three

Xiao-Ying said

that the Ming Guang temples constructed nearby are repeatedly burned down.

This is not a coincidence.

It was probably deliberate arson.

Why burn down a temple?

Usually it is because of hatred.

But then why within Mount Yujun is there a temple sealed in a maze array

preserving an excellent Ming Guang temple with an exquisitely carved divine image?

Also, refusing to permit women dressed as brides, travelling through Mount Yujun, to smile,

isn't this jealousy towards the brides' good fortune?

If all these clues are put together there is only one possibility.

You mean... the Ghost Bridegroom isn't a bridegroom,

but a woman who could not obtain what she sought and hence grew deep hatred out of love?

Mn.

In addition, these brides died tragically because of the Ghost Bridegroom.

Their resentment is very strong.

If their veils were to be removed and they encountered yang energy...

What is this?

Save us!

Outside!

– Run! – Ghosts!

Save me!

Wait for me!

What are you doing just standing there? Close the doors!

But there still are some companions out there!

W-W-What about them?!

Close the doors!!

Why are they only chasing us?!

Who the heck knows?!

Damn it! A whole bunch of fools.

The more they move around, the more ghosts will be attracted here.

Save them first, then search for the Ghost Bridegroom.

D-Don't! Don't come any closer!!

Save me!

Young Master!

Nan Feng.

Got it.

My apologies.

Help!!

Don't run!

Run over there!

Quickly!

Go in quickly!

Quick, catch up!

Hurry up!

Ling Wen, Ling Wen, who knows all.

Ling Wen.

Ling Wen.

Right!

Amazing!

– This martial arts has been well practiced, right? – The young master is a good fighter!

Thank you, thank you!

Those with money support with money, those without money support with applause.

Oh no! I've gotten too used to the script from previous acrobatic shows.

Ling Wen.

Ling Wen.

Your Highness?

You're finally contactable.

There was a meeting earlier. Spiritual communications were not convenient.

Does Your Highness have any queries?

Let me ask you – does General Ming Guang have any beautiful lovers?

Why does Your Highness ask this?

The matter is urgent.

There are more than 10 ghosts pursuing me.

So are there any?

Possessive, jealous, women with a physical disability?

Let me think...

There is.

Old Pei was a General before his ascension.

Once, during a battle, he befriended a female General of another country.

She was a beautiful and fierce woman named Xuan Ji.

Xuan Ji.

That is correct.

At that time, Xuan Ji was defeated and taken prisoner and greatly desired to kill herself.

Old Pei stopped her.

Considering that the conflict between the two armies had ended, Old Pei released Xuan Ji.

But Xuan Ji was unwilling to admit defeat and constantly followed Old Pei around.

Eventually, they fell in love.

Sounds like a beautiful story.

It was a beautiful story, originally.

But the bad thing about it is that

Xuan Ji was determined to be with Old Pei for as long as she lived.

That isn't wrong.

But Old Pei, as a person, is accustomed to casual affairs.

In addition, the two were from enemy countries on opposing sides.

Hold on, hold on.

Firstly, tell me – does Xuan Ji have any physical disabilities?

What kind of disability?

It's her...

Huh? Ling Wen?

Why is it always at the most critical moment?

I was thinking that this sound – could it be footsteps?

But normal footsteps don't sound like this.

So what kind of person would create this kind of sound?

I'm afraid it is only those with both legs disabled and mobility issues.

Correct, Xuan Ji?

Did he ask you to find me?

Where is he?

Why didn't he come?

Why didn't he come see me?

Pei-lang*, oh, Pei-lang...

*T/N: The suffix -lang is a familiar way to address a young man and could have romantic connotations.

For you, I betrayed my country, abandoned everything

and yet you let me become like this!

Is your heart made of steel?!

Betrayed her country...

could it be, that General Pei used her affections to attain intelligence

or perhaps to create revolts and bloodshed, causing her injuries?

Listen to me first.

Pei-lang didn't come?

Therefore, everyone here today must die!

Xuan Ji.

No matter what your troubles with General Pei are, you still shouldn't involve innocent people.

Stop now.

– Don't pile more mistakes on top of those you have already made. – Tell him to come see me.

Come here!

Idiot, get out of the way!

What if the shouting lures the female ghosts here?

Quick! Come help!

If they're lured here, then they're lured here.

You're more terrifying than the female ghosts!

We'll bring this fellow down the hill to collect the reward!

No! Don't take him away!

Don't go out! Come back!

General, don't kill anymore.

Does he not dare to see me?

You were also once a hero who protected your country.

Do not do any more deeds to harm others or yourself.

Harming others and myself?

I will burn your temples to cause chaos in your territory.

Why do you not come? Come and look at me!

I have waited for you for so long and you are still unwilling to come?

Do you know how cruel you are being to me?!

General Xuan Ji!

Look at my legs.

Look at how I am!

I did it all for you.

All for you!

But why do you still not visit me?

Young Master, be careful!

No need to worry.

Since you only wish to look at smiling women,

then I'll smile for you to see. – You've got it wrong.

I am not General Pei.

Look! Look! Look at me!

Let go of the Young Master!

Don't go!

Don't!

You are worthy of his presence?

Pei-lang, the troublesome person is gone.

Bind them!

Young Master...

have I... caused trouble instead of helping you...

You've been a great help.

Thanks to you drawing the attention of the female ghost, I was able to suppress her.

Thank you.

After this... you shouldn't go down the hill to steal food anymore.

If he's hungry, he can come and find me.

Re-Really?

Thank you, Young Master...

If...

Damn it. She's completely lost all rationality.

Look at me...

Look at me!!

Once the power of a Wrath explodes, normal people will become completely unable to withstand it.

If only I still had my spiritual power.

What's the matter?

No need to worry.

These are reinforcements.

This is General Pei.

General Pei?

Thank you, Your Highness.

The Palace of Ling Wen informed us

that this incident at Mount Yujun is connected with our Ming Guang Palace.

And so I rushed over quickly.

My thanks to Ling Wen Palace and to General Pei.

Pei-lang, is it you?

You've finally come–

Who are you? Where is Pei Ming?

General Pei has matters to attend to.

Huh? Isn't he General Pei?

Yes.

But General Pei actually refers to two people.

This is Ming Guang Palace's deputy official, Pei Xiu, General Pei's descendant.

People call him General Pei Jr.

General Xuan Ji, please come with me.

That year, in order to see me, he would cross half the border in a night.

What important matters does he have now that he won't even come down to look at me once?

You're trying to deceive me aren't you?!

Take her away.

General Pei Jr., may I ask a question?

How will you deal with General Xuan Ji?

She will be sealed under a mountain.

My only concern is that it might not be a long-term solution.

Her hatred against General Pei and how he caused the betrayal of her country and the loss of her legs is lingering and unforgettable.

The resentment is truly too strong.

General Pei caused the betrayal of her country and the loss of her legs?

Did she say that?

Are you saying... that is not so.

It is true that she betrayed her country for General Pei.

But her legs were broken by herself.

That year, Xuan Ji was defeated in battle and taken prisoner by General Pei.

The camp must be checked thoroughly.

Yes.

And a few more here!

Yes.

Now the war situation is already clear.

Your country's defeat is already set.

Best avoid any futile struggles now.

And refrain from meaningless slaughter.

Go back now.

I, as a General, have never owed debts of kindness!

The kindness has already been returned.

You!

What a nice expression.

Has anyone ever told you that you're really beautiful?

If only you smiled more.

As a General, to be constantly wearing a smiling face, how would I be able to lead in war?

On the battlefield, there is only today and no tomorrow.

Why not enjoy the moment and live in the now?

Originally, the two had agreed on a casual relationship.

Only discussing the pleasures of the now and not the future to come.

However, Xuan Ji developed true feelings which became deeper and deeper and would not be uprooted.

General Pei did not like strong-willed women.

And Xuan Ji was naturally strong.

This is why their relationship could not last.

What did you say?

The war situation has changed.

You and I stand on different sides, serving our lords.

Your home country and soldiers all need you. You should go back.

If I go back, then what about the two of us?

If it's time to end, then let it end.

Have I been lacking in some way?

I can learn, I can change.

It's not your fault.

Don't force yourself.

It is fate that we came together and fate that we part.

This is but the natural way of things.

What is this?

These are intelligence reports of my army and maps.

If you look at them, you will surely win the war.

I have to go back first.

When you have won,

come and get me, all right?

Pei-lang, you've won as expected.

We can now be together forever.

I am disappointed in you.

Pei-lang! Why?

I betrayed my country for you, betrayed everything!

Why are you doing this to me?

Pei-lang, why don't you speak?

Turn your head and look at me!

Look at me, please!

Fine.

Since you won't look at me...

Oh no! General Xuan Ji's legs!

She broke her own legs to bind herself to General Pei's side.

General Pei did not discard her without a care.

He even ordered servants to care for her meticulously.

But he remained unwilling to wed her.

General Xuan Ji could not fulfill her deeply cherished desire

and in the end committed suicide in deep hatred.

She wished to cause General Pei pain and heartbreak by harming herself.

But to be blunt, I don't think it did.

I don't know who was at fault between them.

I only know that if General Xuan Ji was willing to let go, the situation would also not be like this.

Pei Ming, I curse you!

You'd best never love anyone forever or else you will become like me!

Take her away. – Forever, forever, at every moment,

unceasingly burnt and tormented by the fires of love!

The fires of love

will burn your heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys!

General Pei asked me to tell you –

that is impossible.

I curse you.

Curse you!

Curse you!!

Farewell, Your Highness the Crown Prince.

Who are all these people?

They are not a part of it.

No matter who is right or wrong,

it is always the innocent who are the most pitiful and suffer undeservedly.

So General Ming Guang even has had such an love-debt.

Didn't you run off already?

What are you back here for?

I'm not bringing people here. You go and move that.

Hmph!

You're only worthy enough to serve others, anyway.

What did you say?!

Enough, enough.

And you, how much longer do you intend to wear this wedding dress?

Wait a minute.

I was dressed like this while talking to General Pei Jr.?

Even if you were dressed ten times as strangely, he still wouldn't notice.

Really?

Pei Xiu is a new divine official who has only just ascended in the last 100-200 hundred years.

When he was chosen by General Pei as a Middle Official, he had just reached the age of 20.

He takes after his ancestor. Neither are easy to handle.

Do you know what he did before ascending?

What?

Massacred a city.

In this Heavenly Court, there are few who have good intentions.

No one can be trusted.

And there are very few who can be trusted.

Are you referring to your General?

I'm definitely not referring to your General.

Don't be hasty.

The matter isn't finished.

Let's discuss it after we settle down the rest of the people.

Be honest in admitting fault. Correct wrongs once they're known.

You cannot be in the business of trafficking corpses any more, nor other reprehensible acts.

And you must burn incense and offer prayers for those brides.

The Grave of Xiao Ying

This child definitely cannot remain in Mount Yujun.

Then where can he go?

Back to the heavenly realm with Your Highness?

I can't even secure my next meal.

We must think of a more stable solution.

The dead are gone, but the future remains to be pursued.

If she were still alive, she wouldn't have wanted you to be so sad.

There's a wound on your head.

Take off the bandages.

Let me help you take a look at it.

Human Face Plague!

How can it be?

Shouldn't it have vanished a few hundred years ago along with the destruction of the kingdom of Xian Le?
