In the fall of 1997, a 16-year-old boy set out to document his family's
Thanksgiving dinner.
What he purportedly captured on his video camera was more than just a family
get-together.
The following footage, if real, could be the most important evidence ever,
supporting the possibility that we are not alone in the universe.
This footage contains explicit and frightening images.
Now, for the first time ever, watch the complete and unedited tape and decide
for yourself.
Alien Abduction Did it happen?
Okay.
Okay, I got it working now.
Yeah, right, you've been saying that for the last half hour.
Oh, good life's on at the time.
Okay. Here we have my mom.
This is my niece, Rosie.
They're jamming away to a wicked version of Chopsticks on the Piano.
That was fun, Grandma.
You played real good, honey.
You did.
Time to wash your hands.
Oh, hey now.
Nice bird, Curtis.
Thank you.
Yeah, like you had anything to do with it.
Well, let's see.
I paid for it. Does that count?
Oh, yes.
Kirk, the bait shop king.
Hey, bait has put food on your table all your life, you little punk.
You mean all the time I've been eating fish bait?
Smartass. Shocking.
Hey, Mom, are we going to wait for Mel and her boyfriend?
Oh, you know Mel. She'll turn up as soon as the turkey's carved.
Tommy, don't put that thing in me anymore.
Oh, sorry for wanting your great-grandchildren to know what you
look like.
I think it's great.
Yeah, he blows his inheritance on a video camera, and you think that's
great. It wasn't the whole thing.
I wish we taped your dad when he was still alive.
Me too.
Rosie, go wash your hands, honey.
I wish you did, Dad.
Let's see.
Hmm.
Looks pretty good.
Where's Brian and Renee?
I'll find them.
Fornicating in the bathroom.
Naughty, naughty.
Not until you say yes.
Sorry, guys. Hey, you little jerk.
Here, give me that.
Hey, wait.
Hold on. I want that tape. I want that tape. No, chill out, man.
I'll erase it. Hold on.
That better be erasing.
Yeah, I'm erasing it. I swear I'll kick the crap out of you. Hold on. Cool it
out. Cool it.
It's erasing?
There.
You're so full of it. Give me that. No, I swear it's done. Then let me see it.
Chill out.
It's done, all right? I swear it.
Look, Mom's got dinner on the table. It's getting cold.
You okay?
Melanie and Matthew here?
Get real. You know Mel. She'll show up just as we sit down.
Matthew? Hey.
Is that a new boyfriend?
Yeah.
What's this one do?
Brian? I don't know.
He's starting to be a psych professor or something.
Tommy, that's enough video for one night, don't you think?
This is my career, Mom.
What career?
Music video director.
Yeah, right. You can't even hold that thing steady. Yeah, it's supposed to
look like this.
Whoa. What was that?
What the hell?
That lightning? All right.
I didn't hear any thunder, man.
Rose, do you care, honey?
Great.
Power's out.
Oh, no.
Do you want to grab a flashlight, please, Tommy?
Wait, there's a light on my camera.
All right.
We'll be right back. Where are you going to go?
I just want to go check the circuit breaker.
Well, hurry up. I don't want this dinner getting cold.
I'm going to go wait for the lantern.
Okay. Come on in. Hi.
Hey, Mel.
What's up?
I'm telling you, this is going to be the best Thanksgiving ever. Hey, hey.
How are you doing?
That's a nice shirt. It looks really good.
Oh, thank you.
What's with the camera?
I am making a video over Thanksgiving dinner.
Oh, great. I'm studying neurosis.
Matthew, this is my baby brother, Tommy. Tommy, this is Matthew.
Hey, how you doing? Hey, nice to meet you.
So what's going on? Where are the lights at?
We blew a circuit breaker or something.
Oh, did you see the lightning?
Yeah, yeah, it was awesome. Yeah.
Where you been?
Nice to see you too, Kurt.
What happened here? You get in a fight?
Yeah, with a ladder.
Yeah.
Matthew, this is my older brother, Kurt. Kurt, this is Matthew.
Matt.
Um, no, actually, it's Matthew.
Matthew?
Hey, Bri, and this is my younger brother, Brian. Hey, how you doing? Hey,
what's up? All right, let's go turn the lights back on.
Don't worry about it.
We'll be back in a minute. Okay. They turn out.
See you later, Tom. See you.
I thought you were supposed to paint the front steps, Tommy.
Yeah, I will.
When?
I told Mom I'd do it this weekend.
Aren't you supposed to do the guest room, too?
I'll get to it, Brian.
I bet you were supposed to do it last weekend.
I'll get to it.
Jesus.
Why don't you do something around here?
Going to school, dork. Oh, gosh, I'm going to school, too, dork ass. Knock it
off.
Can you guys believe Mel?
What about her?
This Matthew guy.
Why, because Matt's black?
Hey, it's Matthew. Come on. Shut up.
The guy's got a major attitude.
Right, because he's doing our sister.
What,
you think that's funny?
Yeah.
He's cool. He's just a brain.
No, he's not. Is that thing still on? Yeah.
Well, turn it off.
The light will go off, man.
I think she just... Should have told us the guy's black. That's all I'm saying.
What difference does it make?
It doesn't.
Whoa.
Hey, it's smoking, eh?
Yeah. Look at that.
Huh.
Here.
Ah, careful.
Here.
This is how you handle a fuse box, college boy.
Whoa.
Man. Look at that.
Hey, give me some room. Let me see it.
It's probably melted.
Yeah.
Huh. It stinks, man.
What could have done that?
Lightning.
Did it die?
Weird. Yeah, well... Whoa. What the hell was that? Did you see that?
What was that?
Lightning.
It didn't look like lightning. No, man, that came from the Burgenhauser's
pasture. No, it didn't. Yeah, it did. I saw it in the camera.
It's probably that big transformer's blown. Let's go check it out.
Hey, let's not.
Oh, come on. We're going to have to call the power company about it anyway.
All right.
Tell them I'm going to be a few more minutes.
Come on, Brian. Keep up. Come on, Bri.
No, you go on, Tommy.
Go on, Bri.
Tommy. Tommy,
get.
Guys,
wait up.
Mom's already ordered a second glass of wine.
What? I thought you had that big talk with her.
Yeah, I did.
She's not going to stop.
She has these vodka bottles like I'm not going to find them.
Ma'am, why don't you do something about it?
Oh, and what am I supposed to do about it, Brian?
Why don't you throw the bottles away?
Well, I think she'd buy some new ones.
Did you tell her about the support group?
She blew me off.
Is she still acting weird?
Yeah. Goes through Dad's closet, fills his clothes.
Damn it, Tommy, you've got to tell us this stuff before it gets this bad.
I am.
I'm doing it. You guys are never around.
Oh, give me a break, Tommy. I'm trying to run a business. I don't have time to
breathe. Never mind sitting around and trying to catch Mom to have a drink.
Well, now you know, okay?
Mom's drinking again.
It's more than when Dad died.
Whoa.
Man, did you see that? Yeah.
Look at it.
Careful. It's completely freaking out.
Huh.
We got to call someone. Hey, man, that's not going to catch anything on fire, is
it? No, it's fine.
We got to call somebody.
Yeah.
What is that?
What? Over there.
Help me.
What? Whoa.
What? Whoa.
What the hell is that?
Something from the Air Force base. Damn, it's huge.
Power company wouldn't do something like that.
Holy s***.
It's a UFO.
What?
Get out of here.
No, I'm not sure. Shut up. That looks like a UFO, man. No, wait.
How do you work this thing? I can't see.
I swear to God, that's a fucking UFO, man. Where is it?
What was I telling you?
Damn.
Quiet, you guys.
What's that guy doing?
What's that guy doing? Quiet.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God. Hey, man, come on. It's my camera. Come on. That's an alien.
Give it back.
What? I swear, it's a fucking alien.
Oh, man.
Damn it. Quiet, Tommy.
I don't believe this. There's another guy. What? There's another guy. Oh, my
God, there's two.
Just be quiet, you guys. Don't say a word.
Come on, let me see. Come on, it's my camera.
Let me see.
Here, let me see.
Let me see, damn it. Right here.
What's going on?
Holy... What?
What?
They're at the cow.
They're at the cow. What?
What are they doing, Brian?
Oh, they're cutting open one of the cows.
Oh. What are they doing?
They're cutting in. Quiet.
What are they... What are they doing, Brian?
This is the man.
What? They see us.
One of them's looking right at me. Oh, they see us.
Police! Come on!
I'm not comfortable with a statement confirming or denying the possibility
that the McPhersons were abducted by extraterrestrials.
My deputy found the tape at the McPherson place and the McPhersons
haven't been heard from since.
Now, beyond that, I have no comment.
Come on, Brian. Come on. Come on.
Keep up, Tommy.
Look out.
Hey, you wouldn't. I know. I know. Quick.
Come on, Brian. I got you.
Yeah.
Tommy. Yeah. Yeah.
Come on.
We need to get the hell out of here.
Grab your coat.
We're leaving now.
What's the matter?
Call 911.
Ryan. Hurry up.
What's going on? There's f***ing aliens out there. Hey, watch your language,
Tommy. There's what? They shot Brian's hand.
Who shot?
Brian. Aliens. It's a UFO. We have to go.
A UFO.
The phone's dead.
What? Wait, what do you mean they shot your hand?
They zapped his hand with something.
We need to get out of here now.
Brian. Please, sweetheart.
The UFO ship and aliens and the big transformer.
Oh, please.
Mom, we've got to get going.
They saw us. We have to go.
Linda, grab Rosie's coat.
All right.
Are you guys stoned?
No, we're not stoned.
Are we leaving already?
For Christ's sake, Brian, show him your hand.
Brian, please. Can I see that?
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God. We've got to get that under cold water.
Okay, I've got to see this. Are you coming?
I ain't going out there.
All right.
No, no, no. There's no way you're going out there.
Are you ordering me not to go outside?
Yes. We are all leaving together.
What are you talking about?
Please.
Please keep your voices down. You're going to scare Rosie.
Craig, this isn't funny.
This isn't a joke.
We need to get out of here before they get back to the house.
A UFO.
It looked like a ship.
A big black ball or something just over the ridge. They saw us and they fired at
us.
Okay, so we saw some aliens. Can we have some dinner now?
Sorry, I'm not buying it, boys.
Go see for yourself.
I would.
No, no one is going out there alone.
Hey, what was that? What's happening?
Let me see. Let me see.
Let me see.
That thing.
It took off.
Kurt, they're leaving. What? They're leaving. Are you sure?
Wait, what are those lights?
That's what we're talking about.
UFO, spaceship, whatever.
But they're leaving now, right?
It looks like it.
You missed it.
Oh, that's convenient.
Come on.
Everybody calm down.
Let's go and light the Thanksgiving candle and have some dinner.
That's a good idea, Grandma.
We've got to tell somebody.
Yeah, and if they ask, we're not related.
Yeah, nice high, boys.
Come on, Brian. We're in a joke now. Rosie, let's go sit down.
Kurt, we should do something.
We should light the Thanksgiving candle.
That's what we should do. Now, come on.
Come on, Brian. Let's put your hand under some cold water now.
Brian, now.
This isn't it.
You're lucky you weren't there.
Are the rifles still in the mudroom?
Yeah, in the closet.
Kurt? Kurt.
Kurt, come on.
I'm not going to go sit down after what I just saw.
So what do you want to do about it?
Look, your mom has been looking forward to this for a long time now.
She wants all of us to be a part of it.
Look, you even said they were gone. Come on.
They're gone.
Okay? Come on.
Come on, honey.
Okay.
Okay, settle down. Take your seats.
Brian, Renee, come on.
I can't believe we're having dinner.
Kurt, you start.
No. Here, I'll start.
Thank you, Linda.
I'm thankful for my husband, who
takes care of his family by putting in the long hours at the store, making sure
he has enough time to spend with Rosie on weekends.
and for being strong for his family over this difficult year.
I love you.
Now, I'm thankful for... I
can't do this.
Of course you can.
Come on, Kurt.
No.
I thought I just saw one in the window, man.
What the hell right there?
No, there was something here.
I'm not screwing around here. There was something in the window. Tell me where.
I don't know.
Which way did he go? I don't know. I just saw something for a second. All
right, get back. Get back. Get into the other room. Into the other room. Look
out. Come on, Mel. Move. I don't think a shotgun's going to do much good, Kurt.
Where's Rosie?
Rosie!
Where are you, honey? Hey, Kurt, Kurt, man, what's the plan? What are we doing?
Kurt, Kurt, we're heading around the house with a shotgun. You're scaring her
and me. Not now, Linda.
Kurt.
Oh, my God.
You know your family sure has some strange Thanksgiving rituals.
Oh. What did you say?
What did you just say?
Kurt. Kurt.
You don't know what the hell you're talking about, so shut your mouth. Stop
it. What's the matter with you? Hey, don't you talk to me. You tell this.
Kurt, this is nuts, man.
Come on now. What the?
That's not what you want to say.
Come on. What do you really want to say?
This does not concern you. You've got nothing to do with this family.
Come on.
And you're hoping I never do, right? Who the hell do you think you are? Do you
want to start something? Is that what this is? Kurt!
Kurt!
Just call it.
Matthew, come on. He's just upset.
All right?
And when people are upset, that's when they tend to say what they really feel.
Get out of here.
Get your gun out of my face. What's wrong with you?
Come on. Forget it. Forget it. Oh, my God.
I'm so sorry.
Knock it off, Rosie.
Matthew. Look, we're all freaked out. You weren't out there.
You're right. I was not there, so I don't know what all this is about.
Guys. We don't have time to deal with this right now.
Come on, boys.
It's Thanksgiving.
Kurt, will you put that shotgun down and come and sit underneath?
Come on, honey.
Put the shotgun away.
Thanks for supporting me as usual, Linda.
Tommy, you put that damn camera down.
No way. I'm getting this all on tape until those guys leave.
Hey, Kurt. Screw off, man. Cool it.
Can you rewind that thing?
What? Can you play it back so I can see it?
Oh, uh, yeah, I can do it through the eyepiece.
Just a sec.
Hey, hold on, hold on.
Come here, Ronnie.
I've never seen anything like that before in my life.
I told you.
Not now, honey.
Come on. It was probably just some pranksters.
Mom, I'm telling you, they were real.
Brian, let's go take care of your head.
Brian, I am so freaked out.
Honey,
it's going to be okay.
I think we just scared them.
They didn't seem that unfriendly to me.
Hello?
They shot you.
Maybe they thought Tommy's camera was some sort of a gun. I mean, the light
shined right at them, and that's when they... Ow!
That's when they fired at us.
Tommy, have you been taping this whole time?
Not the whole thing, no.
Tommy, give us a break, will you?
Okay. We need to get out of here.
But Rosie must be starving.
Linda, check the phone, will you?
I just did. It's still out.
Kurt, we are not going out there.
What? What is it? Over there, over there.
I told you, I told you I saw one.
Damn.
Lock the doors.
What the hell?
Man, did you see that?
It's already locked.
How the hell did they do that?
What the hell is that?
Where's that coming from? Do you hear that?
My ears are ringing.
It's coming from over here.
Oh, my God. It's all around.
That's really long.
This program contains disturbing and graphic images.
Viewer discretion is advised.
It takes a lot to scare me.
I've worked in the sci-fi horror genre for about 15 years now and created some
pretty elaborate special effects.
This tape unnerved me for a couple reasons.
Number one, these are clearly not actors.
The family members are not working off any script.
There's also no plot line other than getting the hell out of the house.
These people are genuinely terrified, and the aliens are not coming down a
ramp saying, E.T. phone home.
The second reason I find this unnerving is that if it is a hoax, I should have
been the one that directed it.
Are you all right? Yeah.
Are you okay,
honey? My ears are still ringing.
Now? My right ear popped.
They're unlocked, Kurt. This is mental.
Is everybody all right?
My ears are still ringing.
My ear popped.
Mom, what are you doing?
I don't want Rosie to step on anything sharp. It might go through her shoe.
Leave it. We're getting out of here.
What do they want?
How the hell do I know?
We cannot stay here.
Look what they did to the Birkenhauser's cow.
Huh? The phone's still out.
Hey, wait. Maybe there's something on the radio about him, huh?
There's no electricity, Tommy.
Damn!
Mom, I need the keys to your truck.
What for?
It's bigger than mine.
I'll bring it right to the front door.
We'll all get in.
But what about all the food?
Forget the food. We're leaving.
Where are you going?
I'm coming with you. No, you're not.
Well, I just don't think you should go out there by yourself.
I don't think you should come with me.
Mel! Mel!
Mel! Mel!
Of course!
Stay inside.
Hurry!
Keep your eyes open.
I really think they're gone, Kurt.
Just keep your eyes open. Yeah, I am.
Oh, man.
You know what? I think I peed my pants.
What?
Man, I did. I peed my pants. Hey, it's Tommy.
Man, I'm losing it here. I peed my pants, man.
I'm not going to tell anybody. Stop with that.
Come on. It's fine. Come on.
What?
Battery's dead.
When's the last time you drove this thing? Here, here. I don't know.
I mean, maybe a cable does this or something.
Great. What the hell was that? What the hell?
Shine your light over here a minute. Oh, my God.
Look at that thing. Give me the gun.
Damn.
Oh, right.
What are we going to do?
Get the... Tractor battery.
We'll put it in the truck.
Do you have the key?
My mom's got it.
Battery for the truck.
What's wrong with the truck?
They got to it.
What do you mean they got to it? They got to it.
It's not working.
And the tractor's okay?
I don't know.
I hope so. I hope they didn't see it. If everything's working, I'll be back in
five minutes and we'll get out of here, all right?
When's the last time you checked the phone, Linda?
I don't know. My watch stopped.
So did mine.
What?
Mine too.
Mine is weird.
What? What?
Kurt. Kurt, they're on the roof.
Kurt, what are we going to do, man? We're on the roof.
Oh, clothes are blue.
Here, look up.
Kurt. Kurt?
It's too hot.
Oh, God. Look, it's probably just raccoons. They like to pick through the
trash.
Yes. Tommy. Tommy, no. Tommy, get back in here. What are you doing in here? Be
quiet.
Shut up. Get inside. Shut up.
Get inside. Guys. Guys. They're in the house, man. Come on. Go in.
Yes. Where?
In the bathroom window upstairs in the hallway, man.
What are we going to do?
Everybody stay here.
What is it? I got one!
Well,
you know, I still find it hard to talk about, but when I saw the tape, it
brought it all back to me. You know, the...
The lights, the smells, the hair raising on the back of my neck when I was too
pissed scared to talk.
It's not something you forget.
You don't know what it's like when one of those big-headed wankers takes you
out of your life and puts you under their lights. It's bloody terrifying.
When I thought of family, it was like going through the whole thing again.
Gives me the fear just thinking about it.
You know what I mean?
Kurt's got one in Mom's room. He's got one?
Shut the door on him.
Is that a bump?
No, he's coming.
Come on, Tommy.
I'm coming.
He's in there.
Here. This is on my mind.
All right, get the fuck back. Tommy, wrap around the doorknob. Here, I got
it, I got it, I got it.
How do you know he's still in there?
He's still in there. Lock the bathroom window.
Come on, Brian.
You got it?
You got one in there?
Yes. What are you going to do with them?
We're going to keep it there until we can call somebody.
Are they going to hold them?
So, what, we wait until then?
What if it gets out?
It's not going to get out.
You can't just leave them there.
Now it's already done.
He's trying to get out. Shut up.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
He's not going anywhere.
Come on, you bastard.
What's happening?
We're fine, honey. Stay downstairs.
Holy. Oh. All right. This isn't working, Chris. Back up. This isn't working. Back
up. Let go of the rope and back up.
Shut the hell up, Kurt.
Don't, Kurt.
Don't.
Oh, God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
There, you see?
All right, now get downstairs.
Get out of here. Come on.
What the hell was that?
I'm out.
Quiet. I'm out. I've got to get out.
Mel, step back. Take the battery out.
Can you get him?
Shotgun won't do nothing, huh?
That is the same light that fried Brian's hand.
Are you okay?
We're fine. Stay down there.
Hey, look at that hole.
Now the friends are going to come get us.
Bullshit. Listen.
They're gone.
Yeah, or regrouping.
How do you know it's dead, Kurt?
Because I blew a hole in it, Brian.
Curse? Curse? What? My nose.
It's bleeding, man. Hey, man, what happened to you?
I don't know.
What?
What's happening? Are you okay?
I'm fine, honey.
Is he dead?
First?
I don't know.
Hey, man, I can't see nothing. Come on, give me some room. I've got to get this
on tape.
Oh, he's dead, all right.
Stay back, Tommy. Hey, come on, let me see. Tommy, I don't know if it's dead.
Stay there.
He can still be alive.
Don't touch it.
Come on, guys.
Give me some room.
He creeps, Matthew.
Shh.
Kurt, where's his light gun?
I don't see it anywhere.
He's so small.
Look at him.
I can't find any pulse.
Let's cover it up.
What for?
Oh, come on.
Fine. Mel?
I can't believe it.
All right. That's good enough. Good enough. We should lock it up or
something. Kurt, come on. Let's lock it up. Out, out, out.
What's happening? Are you okay?
Kurt shot one through the door. Oh, my God.
Oh, man.
You should have seen it.
I don't want to see it.
Rosie, what are you doing up here? I told you to stay downstairs.
Mom, it's okay. There's nothing to be afraid of.
Kurt, cover it up. I don't want Rosie to see that.
It's going to get out. Lock it up.
There's no lock on Mom's door.
Let's get through the hole.
Oh, for Pete's sake.
Ryan. What?
Oh.
It's good.
Okay. You ain't going nowhere. Yeah.
Yeah, it's good.
Let's all go downstairs now.
Let's go.
Are you okay, Brian?
Brian, we need to go now.
Okay, Rosie.
Come on, let's go make a pee-pee.
Bye, everything's okay. No.
What is wrong with you?
Come on.
Okay, nobody's going to go anywhere until Brian and I can get the truck
running. Rosie, where are you going, honey? Rosie. Hey.
Hey, Rosie.
You got her? I got her.
What's wrong
with
her? She doesn't understand what's going on.
That's all.
Okay.
Okay, everybody.
Mel, what happened to you?
No. What is it? It's your nose. You're bleeding.
No. What?
What? Holy smokes. Totally.
Totally.
I'm doing this.
Oh. Come here. Come here. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
You're fine. I'm bleeding.
I'm bleeding.
I'm very, really dizzy.
Is everybody okay? Put your knees down. Put your knees down. Come on. It's okay.
Oh, my God. You'll be all right. Guys, why is...
It's just a nosebleed.
Mom,
it doesn't matter. It's just a nosebleed. Guys, no. It's not stopping.
I'll get you some ice, honey.
This is one of those dizzy spells.
Are you okay?
Are you okay, Renee?
We've got to get out of here.
It's all right. It's all right.
Come on.
Let me see.
You're fine.
Brian, we've got to go now.
Okay.
Brian, you're right there.
Okay.
I'm going with you guys.
No, we'll handle it, okay?
Oh, right. I forgot I'm a woman.
It's got nothing to do with it. We just don't need everybody standing around
outside, okay? Listen, the more of us outside, the better.
Come on. Kurt, listen to me. Stay inside.
You guys.
Matthew, you stay in at the door, all right? All right.
Okay.
Hey, I want to come.
Tommy, you stay here.
What? What the hell is it?
This tape is a fake.
It's a pretty incredible fake, but I don't think it's anything more than
that. The analysis we did on the footage showed images that were more highly
pixelated than your regular home videotape.
This could be because of digital special effects.
The only way that this tape could be real is if the image being videotaped
were so intense that it burned a sharp image on it.
That's possible, but it'd be the first time that I've seen it.
Oh, God.
Is she okay? Oh, God. Is she okay? Brian? Brian, I can't tell. She's
breathing.
Does she have a pulse?
What the hell was that? It came through the window.
Brian, is she all right?
Does she have a pulse?
She has a pulse. Oh, God.
Oh, God. It's really slow.
She's breathing.
Mother.
We can't leave her on the floor.
We've got to keep her spine straight.
Okay, honey.
I don't believe it.
What do we do now? I don't believe it. It's all right.
We'll get our things together, and we're going to get ready to go.
Okay. This is your fault.
What?
You shot him in cold blood.
Brian, it came into our house. Brian.
Maybe we scared them. Did you ever think of that?
Hey. Huh? Bye.
Hey! Hey!
Hey! Brian. Speak up. Speak up. Give me the shotgun.
Give me the shotgun! Hey! Stop it!
It ain't worth it, man. Stay calm.
Come on.
Renee has to get to a hospital.
Leave with you guys.
Check the phone.
Check the phone.
Forget the phone.
Brian, you've got to cool down. Forget the phone. We are getting out of here.
I'm not leaving, Renee.
We are going to put her in the back of the truck and take her to county, all
right?
Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Okay. If we can't get the truck running, we'll come back inside.
And we'll all walk up to the highway together, okay? Okay. All right, all
right. Let's do it. All right.
Where's Rosie?
She's in the bathroom.
Mom. Okay, I'll go check.
All right, hurry.
Okay, everybody.
We're going to be fine.
Just pull yourselves together.
All right. All right?
Same plan.
Okay. Okay, same deal.
I'm going to go outside. Okay.
Matthew, you lock the door behind me. Yeah. You stay inside and guard the
door, and don't let anyone in, all right? Okay, now, what about if you
hear... No, no, just listen to me. Rosie?
I'll knock three times. You hear three knocks, you know it's me, okay?
Okay. Good.
What if you guys get... No.
No what ifs.
I can't find Rosie.
What? She's in the back bathroom. No, she's not. Oh, God, no, Rosie. Hey, hey,
Linda. I'm trying to get upstairs. Linda, where are you going?
Wait, wait up, wait up, wait up, wait up. I can't get out of here. You're
going upstairs?
Rosie. Rosie.
Rosie.
Rosie, what are you doing?
Rosie, come on. What the hell?
Rosie. Rosie, come on. Get away from the door.
What are you doing?
What's with you?
Okay, come on. No. We shouldn't be up here. No, no.
Let's go downstairs, okay? Yeah.
Come on. Is she all right? Yeah.
Okay. Kurt?
I want to get going right now. Okay.
Okay, we will. I'm worried about Rosie. She wouldn't even talk to me upstairs.
All right.
Mommy, I'm okay.
There's nothing to worry about.
She was trying to save the alien.
Come here, sweetie.
Come here.
How you doing?
I'm okay, Daddy.
All right.
Nothing's going to happen to me. Right now. Come on.
Calm down, Linda.
Mom, will you come and get Rosie, please?
She okay?
Yeah, she's not in shock.
You'll be fine. You'll be fine. All right?
Now let's go get the truck running.
Come on, buddy. Okay.
Yes. Come on. All right.
The sooner we get it running, the sooner we get her to the hospital.
Okay. Okay.
Come here, Matthew.
You know how to handle that?
Yeah.
I have a general idea.
All right.
If anything happens, you don't hesitate, all right?
That's probably not a good idea, Daddy.
Daddy's going to be fine, sweetie.
Just fine.
Brian, let's go now. Come on.
You be careful, okay? Okay, guys. Be careful. Okay. Hurry back.
We will.
You take care of the mom and the girls, Tommy. Yeah, I will. All right.
Okay. We'll be right back.
Okay.
Lock the door behind us. All right. All right.
Okay.
I think we all should have gone out there, though.
Come on, it's better this way.
You don't know what's out there.
Nobody knows what's out there.
I don't know, guys. I have a bad feeling about this. They have a shotgun and a
rifle. They're going to be okay.
Okay.
Well, it's going to be a few minutes, so why don't we all just sit down?
I'm hungry.
Well, why don't we sit down and have a snack?
What are you talking about? No, not now.
Now is not the time, Mrs. McPherson.
But there's going to be a few minutes. Why don't we just have something to eat?
Okay, okay.
Get some white meat for Rosie. Come on. Okay, let's go.
Come on, sweetie pie.
Well, are you staying?
Yeah, just for a bit.
Shall I?
I'll take care of her.
Here we go, Rosie.
A nice big piece of white meat for you.
How's that?
Okay.
Now, how about some of Grandma's mashed potatoes?
Okay.
Tommy, you want some?
No, I'm not hungry.
This broccoli's pretty good, Mom. What'd you put in it?
Oh, just a little garlic butter.
You want a piece of turkey, Mel?
Mommy, no, I don't eat meat.
Oh, just a little bit. No.
Linda? No, that's all right.
Why don't we hear the truck? They should have been back by now.
a few minutes. Don't worry.
I'm worried, okay? I'm going to worry if I want to. Don't tell me not to worry.
They should have been back by now. Come on, sit down.
We have to be ready.
You will be ready. It's only been a couple of minutes.
Come on, sit down.
You'll be with Daddy soon.
Okay. How are you doing, honey?
What do you need?
I don't know.
Okay. What is this?
Warning. This program contains disturbing and graphic images.
Viewer discretion is advised.
I'm fascinated by the little girl's behavior.
I would have expected her to either have been more withdrawn or more manic.
I also find it curious that of the whole family, she is the one that remains
calm. As a matter of fact, at times she takes on the parent's role, trying to
calm the others.
She's almost possessed. I find it very disturbing.
Oh, my God!
They're not to go out there, Linda!
No! Linda!
You promised him.
I have to leave. He's okay.
Kurt! Look, they said to wait for the knock on the door. No, it's three
knocks. Then we know it's them. Come on, now. Look, I'm sure they're all right.
It was probably just the truck backfiring, right, Linda?
Right, Linda?
What? The truck.
Sometimes backfires, right?
Right. Right.
You've got to be okay.
Yeah, Linda, they've got to be. I mean, we hear them yelling or screaming or
something. Matthew, they're going to be okay.
Matthew, it could be him, okay? You've got to let me out. You've got to let me
see if he's all right.
Listen to me.
It's better if you stay here. No, let me out. Linda. Come on. You have no right.
Come on.
You're not a part of this family.
Linda. Linda.
Just calm down.
Calm down.
You'll feel better. You'll sit down. Calm down.
Everything's going to be fine.
I think we all need to take it easy for a while.
I'm not kidding.
Rosie, do you have to play that now?
Rosie?
Mom? Hey, did you teach Rosie to play like that?
Um, what?
Rosie. Noah.
Ronnie.
You play so well, honey.
Where did she learn that?
What are you doing?
Whoa.
Whoa, what's up with you guys?
Huh? I can't believe it. What are you doing?
I thought she was you.
Yeah, right.
No. She felt like you. Oh, God. She... Oh, God.
Oh, God.
Don't you... We're being screwed with it. Don't you get it? No.
Mommy, calm down. Everything will be okay. Trust me. Okay.
Look, I told you. I told you we should have gone out there with them.
Shit.
What? My battery's almost dead.
Oh, finally.
I have another one in my bag. Just a minute.
Come on, honey. It's okay.
Matthew, can you pass me that bottle of wine over there on the counter, please?
Mom.
Mom, I think you've had enough, okay?
One glass. That's all I've had.
You've had... I just think maybe...
16 something is everything.
You've got no idea.
Mom, I'm just saying... Tommy!
So I want to have a glass of wine every once in a while to relax. There's
nothing wrong with that.
It's not every once in a while, Mom. It's not even just wine.
Stop treating me like an alcoholic.
You can turn up the heat because I'm freezing.
Maybe we should get another blanket for Renee.
I wonder how she's doing.
I don't know.
You think she can hear us?
Mel!
Mel, come look at this!
Look at her. Oh, my God. What's happening to her?
Mom? Oh, my God. She'll get a walk-off or something.
Matthew? What's the matter with her? Why is that coming out of her mouth?
Will this do? Oh, God.
Oh, my God. Here, here.
Matthew? Oh, God. That's so gross.
Oh, Renee.
Is she okay?
Shh. She's going to be okay. Shh.
Matthew? Yeah, she'll be fine.
What was that?
I don't know. She was having some sort of... Oh, my God.
Hold her feet down.
What's the matter with her?
I thought you said she was okay.
Do something.
Maybe it's the cold or something. I don't know.
What are you doing?
Stop it. Her feet. Stop it.
Stop it.
You're okay.
You're okay. Please stop.
You're okay.
You're okay.
Looks like... Looks like they're going away.
It's okay.
Tommy.
Yeah? Get a blanket out of the linen closet for her, will you? Yeah.
Yeah, get one first, you tell me.
Okay.
Oh, wait, do you want me to go with you?
What, am I a baby?
I'm not scared of it. Fine.
You don't even think about messing with me, Lou.
Bastard. We'll blow your ass away.
Mom!
Mom!
Mom! Mom, it's gone!
What? Mom!
It's gone! It's gone!
What? You guys!
What? It's gone!
It's not in the bedroom anymore.
What do you mean it's gone?
I don't know. Maybe we didn't kill it. It moved. Somebody was a cabinet from in
front of the door.
Kurt, it's Kurt.
No. Kurt.
It opened the door.
That was only two knocks. They said three. Come on now.
We're together.
I don't care.
What he said, it's him.
Open the door.
Open the door!
I'm not opening the door, Linda.
Matthew, we should see what's out there.
Yeah, yeah.
You could be trying to get in.
Matthew, come on. All right, all right, fine. Back away from the door. Just back
away. Okay.
Come on, guys, back up.
Matthew? Kurt!
Kurt!
Oh, God.
We must have already started back with the truck. What? What?
No! I have to see him! He's out there! Come on, Linda, take it easy. He's out
there! It's time for you to sit down now, Linda. No, I'm going out there! No,
listen to me! I'm going out there!
Listen, it's no big deal.
If they're not out there, I'll just walk up to the road and get my car.
We'll all squeeze in.
We'll get the hell out of here. End of story.
Matthew, I don't think you should leave us here.
Listen, everything's going to be fine. I'm not going far.
I'm just going up the road. I'm going to have a quick look, and then I'm going to
get my car. Everything's going to be fine.
Matthew, but... Mel, please.
I'm going.
You'll need this.
No, you keep it here just in case.
And you know how to use it, right?
I do.
Mel?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Linda, grab Rosie.
Mom, Tommy, help me carry Renee.
That was fast. What the hell?
From an anthropological standpoint, the behavior of these beings could be
considered actually quite logical.
In fact, the abduction of the Macphersons could be construed as a
higher species gathering samples of a lower species.
It is unclear if they set out to capture the Macphersons or if they felt
threatened enough to attack them.
If the three brothers hadn't interrupted whatever procedure was being done on the
cow. None of this might have happened.
Where is he?
Matthew? No.
Wasn't that Matthew? No, Mom. No one's there. No one? No one.
It's Carrie Renee.
Hey. That's better. The phone. The radio.
Yes.
I don't know.
It's dead.
Hey.
Did you get anything?
What's going on? I don't get this. This doesn't make any sense.
That circuit breaker, they were whacked.
Them, they're doing it. No, no, Linda, take it easy. Sometimes they start and
stop the power a couple times before they get it started. No, Mel, I'm
telling you, nothing could get through that circuit box.
They're messing with us.
Scott.
Scott, where have you been? We've been waiting for you.
Mom, are you all right?
I'm fine, but you look beat.
You could close your livery once in a while, you know.
Mom, who are you talking to? Turn the TV on, Tommy.
I'm going to get you a nice cold beer, honey.
No, Mom, sit down and relax. Melanie, don't interrupt me when I'm talking to
your father.
There is nobody there, Mom.
Don't you dare raise your hand to your father.
Come on, Mom.
Come on, Rosalie, let's... Let's sit down and rest, okay?
Come on.
I'm hot.
I'm hot. Are you hot?
I'm hot. Yeah, it's... It's warm in here. It got really warm.
There's something wrong with the thermostat.
There's no electricity, Mom. That's what's wrong with it.
You don't need to take that tone with me.
I'm hot, too.
Can I have a glass of water, Mommy?
Yeah, sure, honey.
They shut off the water.
That's okay. I don't need any. Do you?
I'm all right, honey.
They didn't shut off the water, Linda. There's no electricity for the pump.
Hey, there's some fruit juice in the fridge. It's probably still cold.
I got bit by a spider or something. Look at this. What is it? What?
What is it?
What is that?
Oh, my God.
Mom, Mom, okay, just calm down, okay? Just don't itch it for a minute.
Rosie,
is your neck okay? Is it itchy?
We're fine.
Is yours burning, too?
Yeah, it really burns.
Rosie!
Yeah, yeah, give me some of that. It'll stop burning in a minute, Melanie.
I hope so. It really does.
Oh, God.
It'll stop burning in a minute.
It's better.
It's gone.
I thought it was going to burn right through me for a minute.
glasses again.
What's happening?
It stopped.
Wait, it stopped.
Oh, God.
Mel? Okay, look, Mel, we can't stay here.
What was that?
Sounds like a door lock.
Let's all go inside now. No, Rosie, I'm not going inside.
Hold on.
Rosie, hold on.
Mel, Mel, I think she's right. Come on.
Is that the phone?
They could be Kurt.
Government denial regarding the tape fits right into their pattern of
disinformation.
They figure if they say it didn't happen, it didn't happen.
I've studied probably a hundred reports of alien abductions, and in almost every
one of them, the aliens look just like we see them on the tape.
I've performed kinetic analysis of their movements.
It proves conclusively these are actual beings of that size and shape.
How did that happen? She was alive just a minute ago.
That doesn't make any sense. Quiet, quiet.
I can't hear her heart.
I can't hear it because she's dead.
Rosie, come here. Let's leave Renee alone.
Why? I don't think you'll bring her home. No, Tommy.
It's not fair.
When Kurt and I were teenagers, we used to sneak in the pantry. That's when we
played.
Not in front of both of you.
Let's play cards.
That's a good idea, Rosie.
I could play go fish.
Tommy, you want to get the cards?
Mom.
Is there something else you'd like to do?
Turkey? I'm not hungry.
I don't want anything.
Got the cards.
I was thinking a nice light to hope for the front step.
What?
The front steps.
I thought you wanted them the same color as the rest of the house.
You know what?
I think a nice coat would be better.
Man, do I have a headache.
That's probably from looking through that camera all night.
I just started.
I'm telling you, it's from looking through that camera all night.
It's time you put it down.
Gotta get some aspirin.
My name is Thomas McPherson.
We were attacked by aliens.
I think they killed my brothers,
Kurt and Brian McPherson.
They killed Renee, my brother's prime girlfriend.
My sister Mel, her boyfriend Matthew, he's still out there.
I guess we're going to wait here until morning.
I'm really afraid.
I don't think we're going to make it.
I miss my dad.
I wish he were here.
I just can't believe this is happening. I wish it were all over.
I love you.
Mom, I love you, Linda.
I love you, Mel. I love you, Rosie.
Uncle Tommy, it's time for the camera down.
Okay.
Remember the time I made Brian play 52 Pickup?
Uncle Tommy, not you, dear.
Okay.
What are we playing?
Go fish.
Okay.
Go fish.
How many cards?
Seven. Okay.
What are we playing?
Go fist. Tommy, are you all right?
Ah, it's just my head. It's killing me.
Well, take some aspirin or something.
It's really killing me.
Yeah, Rosie?
Rosie, could you knock it off, please? I have a headache.
Rosie?
Oh. Can't you see Uncle Tommy has a headache?
Come on, Rosie, that's enough for now. Mom's got one, too.
Rosie, could you please stop? My head is pounding.
I can't take it anymore.
Come on, Rosie.
There. Is that better, Uncle Tommy?
Yeah, that's a lot better. Thank you.
Let's all go outside now.
No, Rosie, we're not going anywhere.
We have to stay here and wait for your daddy.
Wouldn't want him to come home and not find us, would you? He's not coming
back.
Finish the deal.
Yeah.
Okay.
How many cards?
Seven.
Are you going to play Rosie?
I thought I didn't take care of her.
bedroom.
Dad'll like that, don't you think?
Pop's dead, Mom.
Give me five.
You got me good.
