Original subtitles

The thing is,

these minor Kingdoms on Ape Mountain's east side,

during this year,

have not seen a drop of rain yet.

The people there can't live anymore,

so they're fleeing to the Ape Kingdom.

Presumably,

for defense against enemies,

the Ape Kingdom is in no way to accept refugees,

but in such a life-and-death situation,

people can take any kind of chance.

At the night of Mid-Autumn festival,

there is this man,

for survival of the drought,

oh, my goodness,

he has climbed two days and two nights

to cross the most dangerous borderline

the Ape Mountain,

and he made it!

I've heard,

for anyone with a thorough hunger,

a sour meal can be a feast.

But after all,

he's just a mortal guy.

Then what?

What happened?

It's said,

he was devoured alive

just like that.

As what you said,

that monster's so horrible,

how can our Ape Kingdom stays peaceful?

Right.

You don't know the trick,

they say, these Rotten Men

decay from the belly,

the clothes cover it up,

and their face

won't tell the true story.

Who knows,

they might mingle in the crowd.

Unfortunately,

we can't

see through them!

Oh, sorry,

I just want to ask,

why you guys stay out so late in the night?

What got you so interested?

Surprise!

- Who's this wild man? - Right.

You...

you don't know this?

This is

the most important thing in our life.

We're here

to worship the Ape God,

he protects us folks.

Ape God?

Excuse me,

where is

this Ape God?

The Ape God's arriving!

Please protect us.

Hey, bro,

your Ape God

always dresses up so fanciful?

Watch out!

Oh, so gross.

Draw back the net!

This lady,

what are you doing?

[Anecdotes of Ape Mountain]

Prince, Your Highness.

Chancellor.

This is the talent from Parayond hamlet?

Yes.

Thank you, Prince,

I'm from that hamlet,

as for talent,

it's an overpraise.

Go.

Shawn,

I've not seen your master for a few years,

is he all well?

Your Majesty,

he's been practising in seclusion at home,

everything's well.

This time

I being here to seek the Ape God

is under my master's order.

My Emperor,

it seems

Taoist Ethen has long since foreseen

this havoc,

so,

he sent Shawn all the way through

to help us

overcome this hard time.

The White Ape

is the god of our Ape Kingdom.

Every generation of heir

is chosen by him,

this is why

our Kingdom stays prosperous.

But nowadays,

Rotten Men are invading,

even the Ape God got eroded.

It's ominous.

Emperor, Mr. Ryan, don't worry,

just give me some time,

I'll get to the bottom of this trouble,

I won't fail you.

Does the Emperor

have any other orders?

My Emperor,

Emperor...

Seeing you face to face,

I feel so warm.

Shawn,

you're a young talent

defending human peace.

I'm here

to put our hope on you.

Okay,

you got it.

[The residence of the Chancellor]

Where comes this guy

with the ability to hurt you?

Young lady,

I wonder

you want to catch me too?

Good idea.

Don't let me see you again.

Ms. Jaden,

I'll go get you a clean dress.

Please,

Master Shawn,

I'm glad to have you in my home,

just take it as your Parayond Hamlet,

please,

- be at home. - Mr. Ryan.

Thank you.

Chancellor...

Mr. Ryan.

Some urgent matter comes up,

I shall go for it,

you suit yourself here.

Mr. Ryan,

go as you should.

You're back?

You got the purple gauze gown?

Let's change.

Pay your dirty life!

It's misunderstanding.

Total misunderstanding.

Such a dumb kid,

always does things with a heavy hand.

You don't know him yet,

let me introduce him to you.

He is

Taoist Ethen's

favourite pupil,

the young talent Shawn.

He's here on the mission

to save our Ape Kingdom.

How can such a horny thug

save our Kingdom in this hard time?

I'm horny?

A girl like you

to make me horny?

A girl...

like me?

What's wrong with me?

You tell me!

A horny thug, that's you!

How can you accuse me horny?

Shut up!

- You saw anything I did wrong? - Ask my fists!

Please think the greater good.

Easy, easy.

These days,

Rotten Men are arising,

the erosion even spread to our Ape God.

We should make our strategy as soon as possible.

Father,

he did a massacre when he met Rotten Men and Ape God,

never check anything out.

I saved you from being that rotten Ape's meal!

Besides, they don't need my killing.

Didn't you see,

they were totally rotten,

already dead bodies long ago.

That's your own thinking,

can you prove it?

Okay,

let's bet!

You know,

that rotten Ape is now in the dungeon.

Alright,

let's bet.

Greater good first.

What did you do to him?

Don't worry,

I only put a Calm Curse on him

to make him

quiet for some time.

Check carefully,

is there any sign showing he's alive?

Is his heart beating?

How can it be?

There's a ministate on the southwest,

they're good at witchcraft.

The bewitched

will become bloodthirsty dead bodies.

He's in this too.

You say

those people were bewitched?

Right.

Any antidote?

None...

not any.

Danger!

Ms. Jaden,

Grand Marshal's home is besieged by Rotten Men.

Let's go.

You learned quick.

Watch out!

Prince,

here you are.

Sure.

Grand Marshal is at the border,

I'm worried about Tanya's safety.

Help me!

Please...

Are you all right?

Tanya,

are you okay?

Prince,

I'm fine.

Thank you

for saving me.

Where are you going?

Prince,

watch her.

Prince,

Rotten Men are coming more.

We're outnumbered,

we should find a way to retreat.

Block the doors!

We can't hold long.

We got reinforcement?

No!

Where are they going?

Let's catch up to see.

Hurry!

Prince,

where's Tanya?

She's back at my residence,

she's safe.

Wait,

this is not normal fog,

it's ultra icy fog which prevails every season.

Here's Ape Kingdom's forbidden area,

no one walks out there alive.

We can only stop here.

Why Rotten Men gather there?

There is their home?

I see,

the sunshine

will burn these Rotten Men.

Before dawn

they need to hide in cold and dark place,

then they go out after sunset.

Oh, you're back at last,

I'm worried about you guys.

Young master,

are you hurt?

I'm okay.

Thank you for saving me.

Super mace

and roped hook,

Shawn's skills are really extraordinary,

no shame to be Taoist Ethen's pupil.

Prince,

I'm flattered.

If those Rotten Men come back,

how can we deal with them?

From what we saw,

those Rotten Men are nocturnal.

We need a strategy now,

or else after sunset,

we'll lose.

You're right,

if we want to clean Rotten Men once for all,

we can only use the time before sunset.

Rotten Men now gathered

in ultra cold area in the icy fog.

An ambush in front of the icy fog

is the only way

to hold them back.

All the troops under my wing

are hard to handle so many Rotten men.

How many soldiers you need,

Prince, just tell me.

Father.

My dear girl,

did you get hurt?

No,

I'm very well.

That's nice.

Father,

why this time

you came back so suddenly?

Prince,

I'm here

to see you.

I'm deployed at the border,

but I heard

my home was attacked by Rotten Men,

so,

I came back overnight.

Grand Marshal, get up.

Grand Marshal.

Forgo formalities.

Thanks to your help,

or else my home

would've been ruined in this disaster.

Mr. Chung,

this is an emergency,

lead your army to the palace

to guard my father, the Emperor,

we'll handle the Rotten Men.

Yes!

Tanya,

where's the sachet I gave you?

It might be lost.

Oh, my girl,

your loose hands never change.

Don't lose it again.

Oh.

Yesterday the Emperor ordered me

to see him with files today,

why shut me out?

The Emperor's unwell,

he needs rest.

We're told

to refuse anyone meeting the Emperor.

Why the palace is guarded by Grand Marshal's soldiers today?

Rotten Men are rampant,

Prince ordered us

to protect the Emperor.

Good.

Tighten it up.

Okay.

Here needs to be firm.

Yes.

Come on.

Done.

Young master Shawn,

have some water.

Thank you.

Have some fruit.

You work so hard,

let me give your arms some pounds.

Oh, no, this is...

Pass that over.

Hey, guys,

Grand Marshal's daughter

Ms. Chung brought food here

to reward your hard work.

Let's share it.

Let's thank Ms. Chung,

thank you, Ms. Chung.

Just share it.

Take it.

Take your share.

Thanks for Ms. Chung.

Come on, thanks.

Here you are.

Tanya,

here's dangerous,

go back to the camp to wait for us,

okay?

I'm going back.

Let off.

Let go.

Shoot.

Fire.

Prince!

Where's the backup?

When will they arrive?

I don't know!

We can't hold up any longer!

The sun's going up,

they'll go back to their den soon.

Hang on.

I got an idea.

What are you doing?

Give them a way with no return.

Come on!

Come to me,

come on!

Come here,

come on!

Soldiers, you all fought hard.

To prevent Rotten Men's comeback,

tonight,

we need to hold this area.

You did great to fight the Rotten Men,

all of you

are heroes for Ape Kingdom's people.

Get over tonight,

we'll have a feast

to reward everyone.

Thank Prince!

You...

Why are you so reckless?

You can't let anything happen to yourself,

you're our people's hope.

Fine, father.

Speaking of this...

Mr. Ryan,

don't worry,

I'm okay,

work first.

Rotten Men in Fog Cave

is supposedly cleaned up.

But their source is still unknown,

therefor,

we can't let our guard down.

Look,

what is this?

Ebony hairpin.

Ebony's abundant in neighboring kingdoms.

This is the most common material

for their women

to make hairpins.

So,

those Rotten Men

are all refugees from neighboring kingdoms.

From what you said,

this matter

has some tricky reasons.

Oh, right,

yesterday I went to the palace on order,

but Grand Marshal's soldiers

shut me out.

Now,

Rotten Men are everywhere,

and the Emperor's unwell,

I'm so worried.

Whatever happened, we need to

check it out.

Mr. Ryan,

can I go with you?

No,

no need.

Who am I?

The great Chancellor Ryan.

Father,

be careful.

You look down on me too?

Father.

Oh, Jaden,

come here.

We have a secret weapon in my hand,

at critical time

we can call for the God's army.

Only you and me know

where this secret weapon is.

If anything happens,

you can use it to save me.

I'll go now.

See you, Mr. Ryan.

What did he say?

Nothing.

Oh, right,

another weird thing,

the sachet Tanya's carrying with.

And,

she's not the only one

to give off the sachet's fragrance.

Father,

last night,

I led soldiers

to have cleaned the Rotten Men in one battle.

This time I didn't let you down,

this time

I should get

some praise from you.

Now the people of Ape Kingdom

are all supporting me,

but deep down,

I'm not happy,

because you never recognize me.

Why

our Kingdom's emperor

has to be approved by an animal?

Now it changed,

the Ape God

became a monster harming our people,

and I am

becoming the hero saving our kingdom.

Father,

don't worry about me,

I will become

your proudest son.

Today's meal

comes a little late.

Go in.

My Emperor,

your meal's ready.

Emperor.

What's this scent?

Emperor,

my Emperor,

how are you?

Old dog,

you think too much.

Prince,

under current situation,

everything will be exposed soon.

What...

what can we do?

Mr. Chung, don't panic.

It's a matter of time,

why not we go for the preemptive way?

I'm happy to start our revolution now.

But right now,

the Imperial Seal is not in my hand.

If Shawn and Jaden get it

and use it to order the army,

we can't handle that situation.

Besides,

our legion of Rotten Men

are nearly all gone.

Gain can comes from losing.

Mr. Chung,

in a few days,

I'll make Tanya my queen,

and you

will be the father of the Kingdom.

Thank you, Prince.

How are your wounds?

They're nothing.

Soldiers,

it's a freezing night,

Prince sent wine and food for you all

to warm up.

Nice!

Come on, get the wine.

Ms. Jaden,

Master Shawn,

here you are.

I'm okay.

Take it.

Oh, yeah.

Just have one.

Oh, good.

Ms. Jaden,

Master Shawn.

I gotta go.

Tanya.

Master Shawn,

it's hard to find you.

It's easy to meet you again.

Then,

I'll let you two chat,

I should do a patrol.

Oh no, you...

Master Shawn,

yesterday I saw you fighting with Rotten Men

with bear arms,

so I had this armor made for you.

Come on, try it out.

No need.

Ms. Chung,

it's too expensive,

I'm okay, thank you.

Oh, right,

this sachet's good,

my father said,

it expels evil and blesses people,

it protects you,

you should wear it on

and come back safely.

No, no, no need.

Just try it.

- It's too precious. - Just give it a try.

I'm okay, it's...

it's not my style.

You should have one.

Hurry,

get the torch!

Rotten Men are coming!

They are here!

You see, he's Prince's body guard,

is it possible our Prince...

Protect Ms. Chung.

Hurry, run!

These Rotten Men are stronger.

They evolved to a new level,

there has to be a reason.

I should find it out.

Unless we have another day to live.

My Prince.

Prince,

what's happening?

You're the culprit!

Death is awaiting,

save some strength

to make your way to hell.

Father.

Jaden!

Father,

what happened to you, father?

Father,

I'm Jaden,

I'm your Jaden,

father!

Jaden,

Mr. Ryan is rotten now.

It's me.

Jaden...

Father...

Jaden!

Father!

Father...

father!

Jaden...

Jaden!

Prince,

please,

spare their lives.

Prince,

I'm begging you.

Jaden!

Father...

father!

Run!

They fear the sachet.

Let's go.

You go.

We come together,

and we leave together.

Leave me alone!

Jaden,

I know it's too hard for you,

but right now,

you have to survive.

And I believe,

this is what

your father thinks the best for you.

There's no way to go.

We'll find one.

Let's go.

Go!

Jaden!

Jaden...

My dear girl,

stop crying,

when today's over

you'll be our queen!

Father,

I'm begging you,

stop all this now!

You and Prince did so many horrible things,

put so many folks in disaster,

father!

My girl,

I did all this

only for your good future.

Father,

if you don't listen to me,

I'll never marry anyone!

What are you saying?

Grand Marshal,

Mr. Chung,

Shawn and Jaden ran into heavy fog,

we lost their track.

They're dead or alive,

must be checked by eyes.

Yes!

You're awake.

Now we are

in the cave behind the icy fog.

Come on.

Hold it.

Let's go

to find another path.

Let me carry you.

Witch Bugs.

Hurry!

Shawn, look.

What happened to you?

Stay away!

Kill me,

kill me!

Shawn!

Shawn, what's wrong?

Kill me!

Kill me...

No!

You said we come and go together,

we'll get over this!

You said...

Shawn...

Shawn!

Hit the acupoint on top of his head

to put him into coma.

Who are you?

Shawn!

Hit him.

No.

Mr. Chung,

the dynasty is mine now,

what are you worrying?

I'm worrying for no reason,

because my heart

can't settle down in peace.

Look,

our Rotten Men legion

now can resist the sunshine,

why your heart's unsettled?

Prince,

you're right.

Oh, my Emperor, you're right.

The good timing comes,

Prince, please go to

the White Ape God Temple

for your coronation.

He's awake.

You know who I am?

Dark Lady,

is he all right now?

Who is she?

Do you remember

the southwest kingdom with the witchcraft?

She's the Great Dark Doctor from there.

He's almost fine.

So,

you created the Rotten Men?

You're the source of Ape Kingdom's disaster.

You're bewitched,

and Witch Bugs got inside your body,

they eroded and controlled you

to be a bloodthirsty Rotten Man.

But in fact, Rotten Men are not scary,

the scary thing is human's evil heart.

Once Rotten Men are under bad guys' control,

the consequence is unimaginable,

so this art is forbidden in our kingdom.

I was caught and imprisoned here,

I made the Rotten Men under coercion.

The Prince did this to you.

Anyway you're the accomplice.

Now, I lost all the beauty I had,

this is my punishment,

but I really want to live!

Jaden!

Do you want to know how to fight those monsters?

Witch bug is the key part,

they can get inside any creature's body

through the outside wounds,

then erode and renew their body,

this is one kind of witchcraft.

These Witch Bugs

are countless,

but they are all from the same mother bug.

A bone flute can wake up the mother bug,

she can order all the Witch Bugs,

she owns their life.

Kill the mother bug,

all Witch Bugs will be gone with her.

Then where is the mother bug?

I know.

I saw those bugs in the dungeon,

they might be inside Rotten Ape's body.

Then we should go there.

Rotten Ape

is in Prince's hands

and Rotten Men are all under his control.

Only you and me against them,

I'm afraid...

we need a big plan.

We have a secret weapon in my hand,

at critical time

we can call for the God's army.

Only you and me know

where this secret weapon is.

God's army?

[Residence of the Chancellor]

Jaden,

if you have found this letter,

that's a comfort for me,

you didn't forget the Treasure Hunting game we enjoyed.

The time you see this letter,

I might be gone from the world.

A secret letter from the Emperor

saying Ape Kingdom is fallen,

and the disaster might swallow us.

Twenty years ago,

there's another Prince in the palace,

he was nearly killed at two years old,

luckily Parayond Hamlet Master saved him.

For the Prince's safety,

the Emperor secretly sent him to Parayon Hamlet

to be raised by the Master.

This Prince is

Shawn.

Mr. Chung.

Yes.

Is Tanya all right?

Tanya's fine,

she just got frightened a little.

Prince, don't worry.

Congratulations, Mr. Chung,

tomorrow

I should call you father,

right?

Emperor, thank you.

My father,

look at me,

from now on

I'm your honor.

I'm your only son,

the Heir of Ape Kingdom,

the future Emperor.

Shawn is an illegitimate son,

what's his worth?

The power

you don't give, I'll take!

The Ape God tells,

the Prince

is chosen by god for Ape Kingdom.

Welcome,

our new Emperor!

Welcome new Emperor.

The Emperor bestows Imperial Seal.

Sage Emperor's here,

god blesses us!

God blesses Ape Kingdom!

God blesses us!

Where's the Seal?

Tell me, where's the Seal?

I don't know.

The Seal is here!

You're alive?

Don't make a show here

to play a good king!

You killed your father and people,

you're a sinner!

Then what can you do?

Prince,

your show's done here.

You two

want to challenge me?

Today let's see

can you walk out this temple

with your hearts beating.

Everyone watch out!

Danger!

Emperor,

look...

Get reinforcement,

leave them no way to escape!

Yes!

You guys,

charge up!

Yes!

Yes!

Bone flute's working.

I cover you,

go!

Just like your father,

meddling everywhere!

Ms. Chung?

Tanya!

Ms. Chung.

Tanya...

Tanya!

Tanya...

Tanya!

Prince,

we grew up together,

I know you well,

all these things

are not from your true heart.

What you crave for

is just

a little

true love

and to be a favourite son.

Master Shawn,

Ms. Jaden,

I'm begging you,

don't kill my father

and Prince.

Please...

give them one more chance

to right the things

they did wrong.

Stop talking,

no more talking...

Tanya...

stay with me,

wake up.

Tanya!

Everyone of you

will pay your life for Tanya!

Surprise,

we got life to see a new sun.

Of course.

The sun always shines after dark night.

We're small

in the universe,

through darkness,

our heart shines.

[Ape Kingdom is ruined in this chaos, Jaden leads people to rebuild home.]

[Shawn leaves alone, he'll bring peace to the next battlefield.]

[Three years later, they will meet again...]
