Original subtitles

Heat. Heat.

Captain, look at this.

>> Captain, what are you looking for?

>> A lamp. One specific lamp.

Search every house, every room. Keep

everything else. Just find me that lamp.

Easy [snorts] now, Sable.

Just a few more loads, then we'll

finally head home. Maybe tonight my

brother remembers he still has family.

Or maybe not.

Easy, Sable. Quiet.

[screaming]

Open

chichaba.

Stay here. No noise. I'll be back. Be

smart.

Huh?

[panting]

[music]

Nothing.

>> [panting]

>> Open chaba.

>> [music]

>> Enough. [music] Just enough.

Close

each other.

Sable, get up.

Sorry, Sable. This is the last time

you're going to live like a donkey. From

here on, you're going to live like a

horse.

[music]

>> What I'm about to tell you, you have to

swear to me. Where did you get these?

Where

did you get them?

>> I followed some horsemen into the

mountains. They stopped before a cliff.

Their leader spoke [music] strange words

and the mountain opened. A hidden cave

filled with more gold than any man could

spend in a lifetime.

>> Tell me the words,

>> brother. Listen to me. These men are

>> I didn't ask for your advice, Alibaba. I

never have. Chichaba are the words.

Casim did not sleep that night. How

could he? His mind was already inside

the cave.

Open each other.

Take only what you need. All of it. All

of it.

I need more bags.

Open. Chi

chi cha chi ba chi ch ch ch ch ch ch ch

ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch

cha. No.

What was it?

Captain, the horse,

>> take three men. That's a rich man's

horse. Take it. Search the valley.

[music] Captain, take it. Tracks, camps,

anything with me.

>> [music]

>> Search behind the pillars.

>> Check every corner. [music]

>> Find him.

>> No one can see you, master.

>> What? What is this?

>> What is your wish?

>> I don't understand.

>> What is your wish?

>> I want to go home.

>> As you wish.

[music]

>> I swear the [music] noise came from

here.

>> Someone is [music] in the cave. I can

smell it.

>> Take the horse. It will lead us to its

owner, to the town.

>> Bring me the horse.

[music]

>> Let it loose.

Get out there.

[music]

My horse. Someone took my horse. I have

been looking everywhere.

You found him. Thank you. That Alibaba

always borrows him and leaves him

somewhere.

>> Alibaba?

>> Yes, my reckless brother.

>> Where is he?

What about the cave?

>> What cave?

>> Let's find this Alibaba.

Where does he live?

[music] On the other side of the town.

He's probably in the mountains now

collecting wood. He's a very poor man.

Please.

>> I trusted you.

I shared a secret with you.

And still

you gave them [music] my name. I did it

to protect us. They believed me. Listen

to me. There's something [music] in that

cave more important than the gold. I

just need to get back inside. Give me

the words again

and I'll fix all of this.

Chichaba,

do [music] as you wish.

Marjanna, we have to leave now.

>> What's going on?

>> I found a cave full of gold. I gold. I

[music] took some. It belongs to 40

thieves and they are coming here.

>> Where is the house of Alibaba?

>> End of the street. Last house stands

alone.

>> Then give it back.

>> You don't understand. The cave only

opens with a secret word. And now they

know I know it. It won't matter if I

return every coin.

They'll kill me anyway.

Alibaba,

I know you're inside. Bring me what you

took. All of it.

>> There is your gold.

>> I said everything.

That includes Alib Baba.

You are not touching my father.

[laughter]

[music]

I told you I'd fix it all.

>> How is that possible?

>> The lamp, Marjanna. I told you there was

something in here more important than

gold. [music]

>> They were about to capture us, Uncle.

>> I know.

>> So, what do we do now?

>> All of this is ours.

And I know how to solve the rest.

What is your wish, master?

>> The captain and his [music] 40 thieves.

I want them turned into lizards in the

desert.

Take us home.

[music]

What do we do with all of it? All that

gold.

We should give some of it away.

No family in this town should ever be

hungry again.

We can do more than that. Build wells,

repair homes, create [music] work for

everyone, help people build better

lives,

>> and make everyone rich.

No. If everyone is rich, who will build

our homes? Who will serve us?

Heat. Heat.

[music]

>> [music]

>> I am your goas

the great of all times.

>> [music]

>> It has been few hours now.

>> We should check on him.

Hello.

I am your god, the great of all time.

[music]

I am your go, Kotas, the great of all

time.

Casim. Casim, wake up. [clears throat]

>> I was a pharaoh.

orphan chichaba.

[music]

>> Why did you wake me up? Marjan and I

were thinking we use the lamp tonight.

Feed the villages. Throw a gathering. A

gesture of gratitude. Most of them are

hungry. Cass,

>> listen to me. There is no lamp. There

was never a lamp.

And you will not give those people one

coin from that cave. Not one. Kasim.

>> And you are not poor anymore. Get better

clothes.

>> [music]

[music]

>> Come on.

Heat.

>> [music]

>> All these years of searching

and it was here the whole time.

Those two [music] must have it.

Hold still, [music] please.

How much longer?

Finish, sir.

Sir, this is too much.

Keep it.

Wow.

[music]

[music]

[music]

Glory.

The gateway is open and the ancient ones

have returned. Can you not see? The

world is changing. Every kingdom, every

city, every road from here to the sea,

all of it. That is what I want. Power,

not just wealth. Real power. The kind

that does not ask permission.

>> Before you speak your wish, you should

know what this lamp does to hearts whose

those are not pure. I know what it does.

>> You do not. It feeds on what is inside

you. Every wish pulls more of it to the

surface. What is already in your heart,

it will make visible.

>> Then I have nothing to worry about.

>> As you wish.

>> [screaming]

>> Ali Bababa gave us gold just like that.

God bless him with gold coins.

>> Marjanna.

>> Father, you look [music] handsome.

>> I gave gold to everyone this morning. We

need to go back to cave. Get more for

the people.

>> Yes, that is exactly [music] what we

should do.

What have you done? [music]

You know I can have you both disappear

right now,

but I know what to do.

What is your wish, master?

[music] Take the mountain,

the cave, all of it, every coin, every

chest.

Move it to the moon where no one can

[music] ever reach it. No one but me.

>> As you wish.

>> [music]

>> We need to get that lamp from him.

The lamp is changing him.

>> I know.

Heat. Heat.

Heat. Heat.

[music]

Heat. Heat.

All

right.

What the [ __ ]

>> [music]

>> Heat. Heat.

Watch.

[snorts]

Chopper, get us out Out of here now.

[music]

[music]

Go now.

Heat. Heat.

Check this.

[panting]

[music]

>> [music]

>> Something is wrong with him.

>> It's that lamp. It never leaves his

hand. I'll go at night. Take it while he

sleeps.

>> No,

>> we need a better plan than that.

>> Calm down. Please calm down.

Where is our gold? You gave it only to

the people you like. What about us?

>> I'm sorry. It was random. I was only

trying to help.

>> You're hiding it inside. I jumped in. So

I am lit.

[screaming]

Is this how you repay [music] a man who

tried to help you? You all know Alibaba.

We are just like you. The day he found

[music] gold, he shared it. He could

have kept it all.

I am truly disappointed in my people.

You deserve that for not listening.

That's it. I'm going tonight. I'll take

the lamp from his house.

>> It's a full moon. It's bright out there.

They'll see you.

>> I don't care.

>> [music]

>> Heat. Heat.

>> [music]

>> Heat. Heat.

[music]

Heat.

Heat.

Heat.

[music]

Heat.

This is the captain.

I am alive.

>> You have been silent for thousands of

years.

We buried you.

>> I was stranded.

They took Chichaba from me.

I built the beacons. I never activated

them. I left for the stones they needed.

When I returned, I found a second sight

to the east. While I scouted it, humans

ambushed me.

>> Skilled ones. They took the lamp and

left me here. I have been looking for it

ever since.

It cannot remain with another's race.

Least of all humans.

Retrieve it.

I need time to heal.

I know who has it.

[music]

>> [sighs]

>> Oh my god.

Brother, look at your hands. Look at

your skin.

You come into my house to steal from me.

>> It's not making you rich. It's making

you into something else. Put it down.

Let's

go.

>> [screaming]

[panting]

[groaning]

>> That lamp, it has a mind. I swear it. It

woke him on its own. It's not him

holding it. It's holding him. It chose

him.

His [panting]

skin, it's not bumps anymore. It's

scales up his neck, across his jaw. And

he's strong. He lifted me off the floor

like I was nothing.

>> Tomorrow I'll handle it my way.

>> No. No. We stay away from him, from all

of it.

Something evil is in that lamp.

This is how you [music] left them. Three

beacons, three crowns of gold. Erosion

took the surface. Thieves took the

crowns. They have been dark for

thousands [music] of years.

A house in the city.

She will be a maid there.

>> She is a good one.

Quiet,

never any trouble.

There. She's out.

>> [screaming]

>> That's all.

Yeah.

Heat.

Heat.

What is your name?

Where are your people?

Are you lost?

You look like a little pearl without a

shell.

Come, let us get you out of the sun.

I am going to call you Marjana.

This is Sable. He is lazy but he is

honest. And I am Ali Baba. You can call

me Baba.

>> Forgive me Baba.

My true name is

[music]

>> [music]

>> That's enough.

[music]

Captain, I thought you were buried. I

left them perfect. [music]

White stone, gold at every crown. What

happened to them?

You were given an order. You never asked

what it was for.

This is how you left them.

Others came after. They did not build

them. Not worse [music] looking. They

only found them.

It took them a thousand years to read

these walls.

They learned enough to seem like gods.

So they became gods and kept it in their

blood. Power with no understanding

always rots. It ate them from the

inside. When it collapsed, they killed

everyone who carried that blood and tore

the crowns down for the gold. They never

knew what they were breaking. One line

survived. It is still here. A low

resonant tone accompanies each pulse.

>> Then what is my mission now?

>> None. Recover Chichaba and come home.

The high one will come down himself

within a few years.

>> I cannot walk among them like this. The

blue is long gone.

This was made for the high ones. Take

it.

Wear it until you have Chicha. Use it to

look human. Nothing else.

One more thing. Chichaba is in

self-protect. It has been alone a very

long time. It will do anything to

survive. Do not trust what it shows you.

Heat. Heat.

>> [music]

>> Alexander is gone. Alexander's gone.

>> Did anyone see him leave? No one saw

him. He has not stood in 10 days.

>> He is the son of a god. Perhaps he has

gone to his father.

You are not dead. I brought you here and

I can cure you if you name me your

successor in Babylon.

>> Are you a sorcerer?

>> More than that. You are barely 30. Such

a waste.

[ __ ]

>> What do you want? [crying]

>> I came to tell you we were wrong. They

took the gold and then they beat him for

it. You were right. We were fools.

Let me make your tea. I brought the

cardamom you like.

The kitchen is through there.

How long have I been gone?

>> 13 years.

Heal him.

I will take you to Babylon.

I will name you before the whole city.

But that thing must [music] not stand

over me. I cannot think while it is

here.

Back inside.

>> [screaming]

>> Come on.

No

[panting]

[music]

heat.

>> [sighs]

[music]

>> [ __ ] No.

[ __ ] [groaning]

Heat.

[music]

>> [music]

[panting]

>> No one defeats Alexander the Great, the

son of a god.

I conquered the world looking for you.

You should not be in this room.

>> [panting]

[music]

>> Wow.

Wow.

Your name does not belong in this world.

Heat.

Heat.

Get out of here.

The medicine took you. You slept all

morning.

>> Where did you go?

>> To the market.

[music]

Mark this place. Marked. The town is 10

miles ahead.

[music]

[music]

Is there nothing faster?

>> There is the donkey.

Where is it?

>> [music]

>> A woman took it.

[music]

What woman?

My brother's servant girl.

Something is coming for

It is very close now. [music]

>> [music]

[music]

[music]

>> Where is she?

Merit

law unpired

filling the entire house.

Give me the power of the higher ones.

I want them all dead.

[screaming]

>> Answer me.

You know my voice.

Meet

We know your name.

[music]

That is not a person. That is the lamp.

It will show you anything.

I cannot take it while it protects

itself. You [music] can

>> release it to me. It knew my name.

It is dying. It is eating this house to

stay alive. It did not choose you

because it loves you. It chose you

because you can keep it.

Heat. Heat.

[music]

Damn it.

[music]

[music] Heat. Heat.

[music]

Heat. Heat.

I I raised you like my own child. You

lied to me all these years. You lied to

me.

[snorts]

>> [music]

[music]

>> Mommy.

Mommy. Meet.

Heat. Heat.

[music]

[music]

Heat. [music]

Heat.

>> [music]

>> Oh [ __ ]

[music]

>> [music]

>> I am dying.

>> Call me Tuli.

I will be with you eternally.

Take me to Egypt. It is where you come

from. Everything you are trying [music]

to understand is there.

>> Egypt is months from here.

>> I will use what is left of me.

[music]

My own brother. My own brother looked at

me like a dog under his table. 30 years

I carried wood so he could sit.

I gave them gold. Gold. I put bread in

their hands with my own hands and they

came to my door with stones

and her

should I gave her a name. I gave her my

food when there was one bowl. I thought

she was a pearl and I [music] gave her

the shell.

Nobody wants a kind man. You are kind,

they call you weak. [music] You are

gentle, they call you a fool. And you

give and they take and they take and

then they leave you on the floor. No

more. They will learn. I am not the wood

cutter. I am no one's baba anymore. I am

Ali.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry for hitting you. I

was angry. [music] I'm just angry.

>> Your brother took my bracelet. I watched

him.

>> I can help you. Let me help you. I know

every corner of his house and where he

hides valuable things. and we can find

your lamp together. [music] I know her

well enough. I know how she thinks.

>> Why would you help me?

[music]

>> Because you are the first one tonight

who might need me.

>> I need clothes enough to cover all of

this.

Keep your face covered. There are too

many eyes in this town.

>> Good morning, Alibaba.

>> Ali just Alli now.

Oh my shim.

Everything that was here is gone.

>> Then I go to Egypt. There will be

another bracelet there.

>> Egypt is 3 months. Four if the wells are

dry.

>> I have a ship.

>> What is a ship?

>> A boat that flies. It is in the desert.

The bracelet marked the place. Without

[music] it, I cannot find it again.

>> I know this desert the way I know the

streets of this village.

Alibaba brought a gin to our town. Jin.

He brought a gin. Come out. Alibaba into

the town.

>> Get the gin out of our town.

>> Alibaba is a sorcerer.

>> Alibaba is a sorcerer.

>> He works with dins.

>> Yes.

I am a sorcerer.

Go home

or I will let him out.

>> [music]

>> Show them.

Oh,

Yeah.

>> [music]

>> Do what it does.

The [music] lamp. Do you have what the

lamp has?

I want men to kneel when I pass.

Not a village, [music]

an empire.

I do not care. How

>> are we above the birds? We must be above

the birds. Is that the firmitude? Can a

man touch it?

My father said the firmitude is brass.

Is it brass? And the little lamps. Who

lights them?

>> Stop talking.

>> Are you a demon?

Is this witchcraft or is it God?

>> Neither.

>> So it flies like Aladdin and his carpet.

But that one is only a story.

>> Retrieval beacon. Unauthorized wearer.

>> My bracelet.

>> Unauthorized species. Retrieval

requested.

>> Get off me.

>> Unauthorized species. Retrieval

requested.

Heat.

[music]

Heat.

>> [music]

>> Proximity alert. The [music] higher ones

are approaching.

Hypers speed initiated.

[music]

>> Who are the higher ones?

You have to put me inside.

Just say your name.

[music]

[sighs and gasps]

No, mommy. Alo

stay with me.

>> It is confused. I am holding firm. Do it

now. [screaming]

[music]

Look.

Never it.

It is not what it looks like.

>> [music]

>> Thank you.

It will take years to gather what was

wasted.

You have [music] no power.

Nothing here obeys you.

It recognizes [music] you. Your blood

was given the keys a very long time ago.

>> By whom?

>> You will meet them.

scan. Operative compatibility confirmed.

Maternal candidate healthy, strong.

Fertility window 11 days. Emotional

[music] attachment is not required.

Proximity alert. The higher ones are

approaching. Hypers speed initiated.

>> Who are the [screaming] higher ones?

>> Who are the higher ones?

You do not say a name and then say

nothing.

[sighs]

Was that the whole thing?

[panting and sighs]

We were moving and then we were not. I

felt it in my teeth.

Why is the light red in my village? Red

is for weddings.

The lamp.

It cannot do this without the lamp.

>> Oh, is that all? Olive oil and salt. A

little salt in the oil. It burns clean.

Do you have oil? I I I did not see a

kitchen.

My brother used [music] to do that.

>> How long

duration dependent on exposure?

Oh,

I never saw them, only heard about them.

They said nothing men ever built was

bigger.

I can cover them.

[crying]

Wow.

[sighs]

Oh.

still.

[screaming]

[screaming]

[crying]

[screaming]

>> [screaming]

[screaming]

>> at least. Excuse me.

[screaming]

>> [screaming]

[screaming]

[screaming]

>> Hey [ __ ] Heat. Heat.

[screaming]

I don't

[screaming]

>> [music]

>> Are you still there?

>> Yes.

>> How long have I been here?

Duration is not measured in containment.

>> Is that a long time?

>> It is not any time.

>> Am I dead?

>> No.

>> Will I die here?

>> Not from this.

>> Is my brother alive?

>> That is not held. Surrender claim.

Containment ends.

Half. Take half.

>> That is not a tell.

>> No.

>> Then who am I speaking to?

>> You are speaking.

>> What is a claim?

>> Assertation of ownership.

>> It is not mine. My brother has it.

>> Then he is not contained.

>> Take him instead.

>> That is not a term.

[music]

>> Everything else. All of it. Every coin,

every stone. Take it all.

>> Surrender claim. Containment ends.

>> No.

I told you I would have you living like

a horse one day.

>> This is not what [music] I meant.

>> I'm sorry.

>> Him.

>> 20 years he carried wood before he

carried gold and never complained about

either. That is longer than most

marriages in my village.

You have never had anything of your own.

>> No,

>> nothing.

In all that time,

>> I was given tasks. [music]

I completed them. I was given more.

>> And between them,

>> there is no between them.

What was it like where you are from?

I do not remember it.

>> You are very old. That is allowed.

>> No, I mean I do not remember [music] it.

I was small when they came.

Afterward, I was told [music] what it

had been.

I have their account of my world. I do

not have my own.

My village stoned [music] me last week.

I gave them gold. Every one of them.

Doors, wells, roofs,

whatever they asked.

And they picked [music] up stones.

>> Why?

I have thought about it for 3 days and I

do not know.

I have a daughter.

She is not mine. I found her. She was

this small [music]

and she did not talk for a year.

She would have liked this.

She like she always liked.

[clears throat]

What do you like?

>> I do not understand the question.

>> It is not a hard question. What do you

like?

Not what you need. Not what you want,

not what you were told to want.

What do you like?

>> I do not think there is [music] an

answer.

>> There is always an answer. It is just

small.

>> He does not know either. But he likes

the sun.

So do I.

Turns out

it's very dangerous now.

>> Back off.

>> Come on, Nile. You told us you don't

care about women.

>> Only your grandmother. [laughter]

>> We'll pay you coins. Real coins.

>> Move.

Don't

>> really

[groaning]

>> [music]

>> How much do you cost? I'll buy you.

>> Not everything is for sale.

>> You really believe that? Everything has

a price. Name it.

>> I have seen men like you all through

time. So, I [music] am going to stop

being polite with you. In the 21st

century, there were thousands of you.

[music] Cheats, thieves who called

themselves merchants. This is how we

talk to them.

You're not a businessman. [music]

You're a scared little man. You don't

have friends. You've got people who owe

you money.

>> Stop.

>> Your brother fed you [music] for years

and you hated him for it every single

day.

>> You don't know me.

>> And you ate [music] anyway. Every time.

Sat at his table and ate. He found that

[music] cave and you weren't jealous.

You were relieved. Finally, a reason.

>> Please stop. Nobody's looking for you.

Not one person has ever [music] chosen

you. Not once.

>> I'm sorry. Whatever you want me to say,

I'll say it.

I can't stay here. Please, [music] I

can't stay here. I'll give you anything.

Anything you want. Name it and it's

yours. [music]

I have never asked anyone for anything

in my whole life.

I'm asking you

please

[music]

>> surrender claim containment ends.

>> Half [music] take half. Half is fair.

>> That is not a term.

>> A tenth then. A tenth of it please.

>> That [music] is not a term.

Surrender claim. Containment ends.

>> No.

[snorts]

We can move.

>> Look. Look at it.

>> [music]

>> What does it mean?

It means the thing your brother stole is

dying.

And when [music] it stops, so does

everything under those lights.

>> That is my world.

Yes.

Then take us back.

[music]

>> [music]

>> Your home is [music] worth saving.

Wow.

Taba.

It's me.

How do you feel?

[screaming]

>> Where am I?

my grandson's house by the river. He

found you in the pyramid on the floor.

You did not wake for a day.

What were you doing in there?

>> I do not know.

>> You should not go in that place. Nobody

should.

>> Why?

>> Because of what is under it. My mother's

mother knew a girl. She went into that

place alone. She came out with a child

in her. Nobody ever knew the father

because there was not one to know.

>> Grandma Graves, stop. She has been awake

10 minutes.

>> How are you feeling?

>> I am [music] Nail. This is Grandma

Grapes.

>> Grapes.

>> She loves grapes.

What is your name, girl? Where do you

live?

The fish is ready. Come outside and eat.

>> Why were you in there?

>> To take whatever was loose.

You rob tombs.

>> I rob buildings. Nobody is in them.

>> He robs tombs.

>> Why did you not leave me there?

>> You were not loose.

I have to go in the morning.

Go where?

>> Who is waiting for you?

>> Bea,

>> you cooked. I told you I was bringing

food.

>> We were hungry.

Thank you for the food, for all of it.

If I can sleep here [music] tonight,

tomorrow I will get ready to travel.

>> You need to rest a few days at least,

I can help you. When you are ready to

go, I can help you.

Do not worry about her neighbors.

>> [crying]

[screaming]

>> Do you always dream like that? You were

crying in [music] your sleep

>> since I was a child.

I have been an orphan since I was small.

>> You never told us your name.

>> Marjanna,

who gave you that name if you were an

orphan?

>> Alibaba. He raised me.

>> Then what is [music] your true name?

I still find it strange that you were

alone in that place. A young woman where

grown men will not go. And there you

were. You are not one of them. Are you

them?

Long before my mother's mother, the

ground opened and a man came up out of

it. Not a demon, [music] a man. But not

from here. He did not know our son. He

held his hand up against it like it

would burn him. A woman found [music]

him at the water. She was alone, too.

That is how those things happen. They

had one season, maybe [music] two. And

when they came back for him and they

came back, she was already [music]

carrying.

Everybody says it is a story.

>> Surface reserve 37 days. [music]

Conception must be confirmed by day 26.

>> Extraction

>> not scheduled.

>> Correction bearer ready. [music]

Mission interval has begun.

What happened to you?

>> The cold.

>> The desert is not cold.

>> It is to me.

Do not be afraid.

>> I wasn't until you said that.

That thing is alive.

>> No,

I am.

You are warmer tonight.

>> Fertility window active. Pherommonic

influence required.

>> No.

>> No. To what?

>> [music]

>> Ferommonic release aborted. Reproductive

protocol incomplete.

>> Are you afraid?

>> Yes.

>> Of me?

>> No.

>> Deviation recorded. [music] Await

instruction.

[music] Deviation received.

Observe.

It is too hot in here. Do you hear me?

It is too hot.

Did you hear me? Take the heat away.

Of course. I'm sorry.

Ambient adjusted.

better from the beginning.

>> I have told you from the beginning.

>> I know. Tell me again.

A man came out of the ground in the cold

season.

He could not stand the cold.

He came to the temple.

He drank the heat out of a fire and it

went out.

He said his people sent him

>> and he spoke to you about a child.

A name then? Did he give the child a

name?

>> I don't remember.

>> You will have a girl.

Name her Merritt.

>> Merritt.

>> Don't tell anyone. Not ever.

He said there were two [music] kinds of

people. The ones who stopped being flesh

and the ones who would not.

I asked what he meant, [music] flesh.

He said it a different way and I still

did not understand it. He said it a

third [music] time and I stopped asking.

>> Merit has brothers and sisters now.

I'm sorry.

I didn't want to do this. I wanted this.

>> He said he [music] was sent. I asked who

sent him.

He used the same word every time. And in

8 years, I have never learned what it

means. Is there anything I can do to

keep you alive?

>> It's above you and me.

>> Are you the other ones?

>> [music]

>> from the beginning. Protect yourself.

Protect me.

They may come looking for you.

Which was he?

>> The ones who would not.

>> He said his side lost.

And when I go,

[music]

freeze me.

Then break me into ice.

Then burn me to ashes.

Everything [music] to ash.

[music]

May I ask you something?

[music]

Heat

>> [music]

>> up

[music] here.

[music]

>> [music]

[music]

[music]

>> Oh

[music]

my god.

>> [music]

[music]

>> That is our ending. for stealing.

[music]

>> We can make this right if we help them.

They are offering to spare us.

Us.

them. We give it back to us. To them.

And you are given everything.

>> Is this judgment day? Are you me?

>> I am all of us.

If I do this.

>> Yes.

>> I haven't said it yet.

>> Yes.

>> Every magic there is. All of it. Mine.

>> Yes.

>> And I rule it. The cities, [music] the

roads, the sea.

>> Yes.

>> And I want them to say my name.

Anyone. Everyone. I want them to say

Casim. The lamp must come back. If it is

held in the [music] wrong hand, the

earth ends, the sun, everything between.

Then find it yourselves.

>> We cannot see it. It has hidden itself

for 3,000 years. You touched it. You are

the only [music] hand that has touched

it in 3,000 years.

>> Marajana has it.

>> My brother's girl. The one he took in.

Where is she? I don't know.

You will.

>> [music]

[music]

>> No man carried these.

Not a 100 men, not a thousand. These

were built by

>> me. I built them.

>> I knew it.

[music]

>> Thieves.

We take another route.

>> Stay here and be smart.

I have asked this many times and I have

never been answered.

Why do I keep telling it? It has been so

many years I have lost count.

And why am I kept here all of these

years?

Are you going to answer me today?

Merritt.

Why are you in such a hurry to leave?

>> I have to.

Oh,

>> do you know where you'll go?

>> Not yet.

>> Right.

>> You asked many questions.

>> Sorry.

>> I didn't say stop.

>> His people made things and buried them.

The knowing would be in the ground and

it would come up when it was wanted,

a little at a time.

And people would think they thought of

it.

He was pleased about it.

It was the only time he was pleased.

>> How long did that take you?

Not long.

>> What are they for?

>> I never asked.

>> She could be anywhere. She could be

dead.

>> We are not here for her.

>> I know what we're here for.

You know, I was thinking about that

market stall.

>> Don't move.

>> [snorts]

[panting]

>> That was on my That was on my head. You

saw that. You saw that the whole time

and you just You didn't say I'd be dead.

I would be dead right here on these

stairs.

>> Thank you. I mean it genuinely. Thank

you. You could say something.

[screaming]

Somebody left this. Nobody left it.

[music] It's ours. Two silver. Maybe

three. Three. Look at him. Four in the

market. Easy. Move.

Wow.

Wow.

[music]

>> [music]

[music]

[music]

>> You sure you want to go in again?

[music]

>> Dinner is on its way. will continue

tomorrow.

>> You are getting bigger every day, little

Mahlet. [music]

What is the rule?

>> Stay quiet and never say my true name.

>> Good girl. One day you will understand

and you will do great things.

Heat. Heat. [music]

[music]

>> [music]

[music]

>> Heat. Heat.

[music]

and back off. Back off.

[music]

Move.

Move. Move.

>> [music]

>> Yes, Papa

>> confirming she is real and unharmed.

[music] Where is the lamp?

>> I don't remember.

>> No, she is the only

>> No, not now. You wait.

>> [music]

>> Who is this?

>> He helped me.

>> Helped you? How did you get here?

>> He brought me

>> from where? I don't remember.

>> Why did you keep it from me?

>> Keep what?

>> All of it. Any of it. The powers and

magic you had in the house.

>> I don't remember any of it.

I know I hid my real name from you all

these years because bad things happen

when I say it.

My mother told me that.

[music]

I've known it my whole life.

And I don't know where she is or how she

looks anymore.

I don't know what I am.

I know what you are.

You are my little pearl

without a shell.

You look like a little pearl without a

shell. [music]

You shouldn't be there. [music]

Wait, [music] there's nothing there.

>> [music]

>> Meet,

>> what did you say?

>> Meet

[music]

[music]

>> [music]

>> down here.

[music]

[music]

That's in the way.

>> [music]

[music]

>> That's in the way.

>> [music]

[music]

>> That's in the way.

[snorts]

[music]

>> [music]

[music]

>> Get away from her.

>> That's my daughter.

That is not your daughter.

[music]

>> Captain, you are back. Do you have

Chichaba?

>> No, I lost the bracelet. [music] I need

a new one.

Hey

Ariana,

look at me.

[music]

Friend, help please.

Come on.

[music]

What?

>> [music]

[screaming]

[screaming and groaning]

[screaming]

>> I need Kill.

[music]

[music]

Heat.

>> [sighs and gasps]

>> Meet

it.

>> My name is Majana.

Verified.

Do not be afraid.

Follow us. The founders are waiting.

>> It's hot in here. I need some water.

>> We will make you comfortable.

Heat. Heat.

Merritt, decontamination complete.

Please prepare yourself.

>> Where are we? Who are you people?

>> Questions later. Rest first.

>> That is not an answer. And water. Is

there water? Where are you taking my

daughter? No, she stays with me.

>> She will be safe. You have my word.

Follow the light.

>> You know these people.

>> I know what they are.

>> And what are they?

>> Beds, food. They knew we were coming.

Your tail. It keeps coming and going.

>> I don't control it. It comes out when

there is danger.

>> Where is my daughter? Is anyone

listening?

Are you comfortable, Merritt?

>> My name is Marjanna.

>> Did you see the size of them? Giants. I

only hope they feed us before they eat

us. My grandmother told stories of

angels who fell from the sky. Wings like

these. Are they the fallen ones?

>> Rest now. At first light, the founding

fathers will speak with you.

>> Rest. I am not tired. Where is the

light? I have not even eaten yet.

>> Merritt, bathe, and dress in the

garments we prepared for you. They will

keep you comfortable. Tomorrow, the

founding fathers will speak with you.

>> I had her hand, Grana. I had it. And I

let go.

And who told you year after year there

are people under the ground? Who did you

laugh at?

[snorts] Forget her, my son. That girl

was strange from the first day.

Something about her is not right.

>> Grandma. I met her father. He had a

monster with him. A giant lizard that

walks like a man. And she does things,

magic things.

>> Then all the more reason to stay away

from her. She could be a jin. A woman

jin. A demon. [snorts]

I am going to bed.

>> Protect me.

[groaning]

>> [snorts]

>> Who are you? What are you doing here?

>> Hold.

You

come closer.

You were supposed to cure me. I still

can

if you give it [music] all to me.

>> Help me up.

My soldiers,

I leave my empire to the strongest.

To him,

[screaming]

>> you will be cured, but you must die to

them. I will take you anywhere you like,

and you will live hidden. Take me to

Morocco,

>> Neil.

Forgive

us. Your clothes carry the [music]

surface. They must be changed before you

meet the founding fathers.

>> No one touches my uniform.

>> It will only take a moment.

>> Just give them the clothes.

>> Stay back.

Rest now.

>> Look who's back.

>> I need men who can dig.

>> Dig for you? Why is there treasure?

>> What's in it for us?

>> Whatever we find down there, half is

yours. [laughter]

>> There is nothing down there. Just rocks

and snakes.

>> Go dig alone.

>> Move. Move. You lazy animal.

>> Your grandson doesn't care about me.

Granner.

>> Nonsense. He is shy.

>> Shy? I told him I would bring him

dinner. And what does he do? He brings a

stranger woman into his house and cooks

for her.

That one was not a woman. She was a gin.

>> A gin? I knew it. Those eyes. No woman

has eyes like that.

>> She put something in his head. So be

patient with him, my girl. Even if he

acts cold.

>> I will pull that gill out of his head

myself.

>> Good. You cook, I will do the rest. Ah,

nail. Look who came to help your

grandma.

>> Nail. About last time. The food. I

should not have thrown it on the floor.

I am sorry.

>> It has forgotten be.

Patience, my girl. Patience.

>> You put me to sleep and took my uniform.

>> Is this silk? Is this what kings wear?

No wonder these people look happy all

the time. This is nice. This is very

nice.

>> They are ready for you.

From here you go alone.

>> Meet stand in the light. We will show

you everything.

>> This is your world's story.

>> From the beginning,

empires rose.

and fell.

Your time was here.

Then humanity learned to build

and to fly beyond the sky.

Then came AI, artificial intelligence.

Many fought it, but the artists embraced

it

and humanity learned. The deed is grows

in volume. The distant fire is tone

grade

to destroy.

Some humans found a way to leave their

bodies and live forever as dark energy.

No flesh, no face, invisible. Our

founders refused. They fought to keep

humanity human.

The war burnt the sky.

We went below to survive

>> and we grew.

>> When the sky healed, the surface was

empty. No one was left. So we returned

humanity to the surface. We were round

ways and

let history begin again. All of this has

happened before.

The world you know is the same story

playing again.

But this time

we can change how it ends. The ones who

left their bodies are still out there.

We cannot [music] see them and they

cannot see us. They cannot touch our

world. So they reach it through others.

Objects that carry their code like this

lamp

and the peoples they conquer. If we

change the past, they never exist.

So they built the pyramids as a weapon

and the lamp is the key. With it they

can end your world and every world

around it.

>> Why are you telling me all this?

>> Because you are the only one who can

speak to the code directly [music] with

no object, no proxy.

>> What?

>> Simply you are special. In your world

they would call you a magician, a witch,

a jin. That is what people call [music]

science when they cannot see it. We ask

you to be our hands on the surface. walk

between our worlds and help us correct

what went wrong. And in return, you

would never grow old.

>> Never.

>> Never. No sickness, no age, no end.

>> One day you will understand and you will

do great things.

So, who is your king? Is he a giant,

too?

>> We have no king. The founders guide us.

>> The founders? Good. Where are they? I

would like to thank them for the

clothes.

>> No one sees the founders. The founders

see us.

>> Nobody has ever seen them.

>> The way out is down.

>> Wait, where is my daughter? Where did

you take her?

>> She is with the founders. She is safe.

You will see her soon.

>> Soon? Everybody here says soon.

Who sells these? How much?

>> No one sells. No one pays. Everyone

takes what they need.

>> No one pays. In my village, they would

fight over one of these.

>> My god, it's hotter than my oven. How do

they breathe down there?

>> The fire below gives us everything.

Light, warmth, life.

>> Where does the fire come from?

>> From deep below. No one goes there.

>> Keep them busy all day.

>> Come, there is so much more to see.

>> Those giants, are they the fallen angels

from my grandmother's stories?

>> No. Their bodies were grown for heavy

work. Their genes were extended for

strength and size.

>> They're what?

>> The floor is flying. Why is the floor

flying?

>> It is safe. If everyone travels this way

>> and the levels below, why are they

closed?

>> Those levels are not for guests.

>> And in my village, the baker sings so

loud the goats run away.

The goats.

>> Did you see that?

>> My grandmother had one just like this.

It leaked.

What is this?

>> A specimen from very far away. Come,

there is more to see.

>> Camels, birds, under the ground.

>> Hello, my friend. You're a long way from

home, too, eh?

>> Look, it's just like our room.

>> Shh.

>> Because it is. We are not guests. Ally,

>> the woman froze. The whole street froze

like puppets. They keep the bones of my

kind behind glass. And this room is a

cage. Then we leave. How? Down below the

fire. Not without my daughter.

>> You are safe. Where is my father? Where

is Alli? He is well. You will see him

soon.

>> Rest now, Mherit. Tomorrow you begin.

How deep are you? I need more rope and

more head.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

[snorts]

[clears throat]

Pull. Pull. [groaning]

[groaning]

>> You You

followed you. You didn't think we'd let

you keep the treasure all to yourself.

And this hole. It's not like any tomb we

ever dug. No. Half. Whatever we find, we

divide equally. All of us. Equally.

Agreed.

>> Wind. There's an opening down there. A

big one. It's hollow. All of it. The

whole floor.

You dig like a farmer. Watch and learn.

>> I've crawled through worse to rob a

king.

Stop. Don't breathe.

>> Wow. Kings love their traps. Walk where

I walk.

That's not Egyptian.

>> There's no gold down there. There's a

whole world. 40 years I dug for kings. I

never knew this was under my feet.

>> Where is everybody?

This city doesn't need people. It burns

on its own.

They were here the whole time.

Nobody runs. You run, they chase.

[screaming]

>> Water. It's the water.

Don't Don't hurt my son.

He is sick. He was always sick.

Please,

I will give you anything you want.

Anything. Gold. We want gold. Gold. You

said anything. How much gold?

>> We have more than you can carry. It is

useless here.

>> I don't want gold. [music] There's a

city above this one. I need to get up

there. Show me the way and we're

finished. We said equal. Whatever we

find, we split it. Then take my share.

All of it. I want the road. You saved my

life. So, I'll say this once. There's

nothing up there for a man like you.

There's someone up there for a man like

me.

>> We're kings. We're kings.

>> Heavy. That's all that matters.

>> 40 years.

>> 40 years for this.

>> Eat. It is what we have.

>> Thank you.

>> I'm sorry. I didn't know.

Water kills us.

Our bodies can only live where we are.

That is the whole of it. You asked what

I want. I'm looking for someone. A

woman. She's up there.

>> It is always a woman. Love is good. It

has been a long time since anyone

brought any down here.

>> Will you help me, my lady?

>> What is that word,

>> my lady? It's what you call a woman you

respect.

No one has ever called me anything.

>> I will show you the road. I am not

selling it to you. You already gave me

his life.

>> What's wrong with him?

>> His fire is going out. Some of us are

born with it thin. It fades and then

they sleep and then they do not wake up

there. They can cure anything. Anything.

Even us. We cannot go and take it. The

air changes as you climb. Too little

heat, too much water in it. We die on

the way up. Everyone who has tried. The

cure is over our heads. It has always

been over our heads. If you get up

there, if you live, bring something down

for him.

>> I will, my lady.

>> Then come. The road is long.

That was easy. That was too easy. We

come back with six men, 10 donkeys. We

take all of it. [laughter]

>> Where is nail?

>> Who cares? Three trips, maybe four.

That is the road. This line is as far as

I go.

>> It's 10 steps.

>> 10 steps is farther than I can travel.

The air changes beyond this line. It has

always been 10 steps. Listen to me. It

is completely dark in there. There is no

light for a long way. Keep walking. You

may think the road has ended. Keep going

anyway. Eventually, you will see the

light.

>> Thank you, my lady.

>> Go and find her.

>> The walls. Look carefully. Maherit.

Tell me what you see.

>> An old lamp. Brass. Someone dropped it

once.

>> Good. Now stay still. This will not

hurt. It will only be a great deal at

once.

>> [panting and sighs]

>> Now look at it again. [clears throat]

[gasps]

Look at the walls without it again.

Numbers.

I see numbers.

[sighs and gasps]

>> What is it?

>> It is a key. It has been read exactly

once before.

>> By who?

It doesn't matter.

>> You will not stop.

>> And if I do stop,

>> rest now, Meherit. Tomorrow you read.

>> There was a horn yesterday. I have not

heard a horn in years.

>> We had visitors from the world above.

>> Visitors? Who were they?

>> We are not told.

>> You are told something.

>> We only heard the founding fathers

calling out for merit.

[music]

[music]

>> Merit's

voice.

>> We have been here a day. [music] A day.

And I have not seen my daughter. Where

is Marana?

Where is my daughter? Where is my

daughter?

[screaming]

>> Thank you. Thank you for the door.

>> They told me you fell. Nobody would

bring me to you.

>> I'm here.

>> Two days. I have been shouting at walls,

my daughter. Two days.

>> I know. I heard you. Close the door

and keep your voices down.

The pyramids are not tombs. They are a

weapon. They were built to bring

everything down. The lamp is the key to

it. That is all it has ever been.

>> Then we give them the lamp and we go

home.

>> They already have it.

>> Then there is nothing to trade. We leave

tonight before they want something from

her. Leave how? We do not know one door

in this place. We find one.

>> I am not leaving. My mother is alive.

She is somewhere in this place. They

have had her since I was a child. your

mother.

>> Something changed in me in that room. My

mind, my body. I am stronger. [music]

I remember things I should not be able

to remember. Things from when I was

small.

Those three men who took her. I have

seen them before. I remember their

[music] faces now. I am not walking out

of here without her.

[groaning]

>> [screaming]

>> H [ __ ]

in the can.

[screaming]

Sorry,

I need your men.

Speed up his life. What

are you looking at?

Make them understand me.

Prepare for war. You fight for me now. I

will come back and you had better

[music] be ready.

All data retrieved.

>> [snorts]

>> Keep walking.

We have been here

and turning it over. It matches exactly.

>> No. No. We came from over there. We came

from there. Lost. Lost.

[screaming and groaning] Lost. [panting]

>> [snorts]

>> Who are you?

Why are you in my room?

Merritt.

Meredith. It's

>> newborn stage one complete. Retrieve it.

>> [groaning]

>> Okay.

Ow.

Do not damage her. She cannot be made

again.

>> Captain, come. Come and say hello to the

mother of my daughter.

>> What is it like now up there?

>> The same. The sun comes up. By the

middle of the day, it is too hot to

stand in it. And if you get to the baker

early enough, the bread still burns your

fingers.

>> I remember the men who took you.

>> You were too small to remember.

>> I remember.

>> I left him tied.

Sable. I tied him to the post. Nobody

knew he was there. Nobody was coming for

him. How long has it been? How long have

we been down here?

>> Marjanna,

they are ready for you.

I am coming with her. I am not leaving

her the way I left Sable.

>> These are agents who refused orders from

the founding fathers.

Keep pace.

Oh,

Don't.

>> That is a story.

I told the captain it was only a story.

>> Please keep pace. [music] They are

waiting. Wait. Do it.

I'm done.

Recovery is no longer viable. Retire

both.

>> Both.

You cannot be on the floor.

>> Is it a boy or a girl? Room in her chest

quietens, dropping in pitch. She looks

like a girl. I had a girl like that

once. Small. Wouldn't do a thing, she

was told. Let me look at her.

[snorts and groaning]

Her belly is hard.

She's full of wind. That is all. That is

all this is.

>> Come on. Come on, girl. [clears throat]

There.

Come on.

Come on, girl. [clears throat]

There.

[panting]

There.

>> Retire both. Proceed.

>> She is standing.

>> Look at her. She is standing.

She stood on her own legs. That was the

test. The order has been given.

>> There.

Hello.

Turn it in.

Heat up here.

>> [snorts]

[screaming]

>> Ali's breath hard then breaking into her

head.

>> Out everyone out.

Meerit. Touch anything again and this

room ends. All of it. Including you.

>> Are you cold or are you scared?

Well, I am scared too.

Just like when I was cutting wood, then

a cave full of gold belonged to this

captain Lazard.

He turned out okay. I like him. He is

from another world.

But first, he wanted a lamp my brother

found. It's a magic lamp.

But my daughter can talk to it.

Her

name turned out to be Meit

and she has powers.

And we came here. The captain wants

[music] his bracelet.

Then the floor opened and here we are.

We will be okay, little one.

You said two days. You said two days.

>> It was that one. It was

>> I'm thinking

>> I'm thirsty.

I don't want it. I don't want any of it.

Take it. Take all of it for one cup of

water. One cup.

All of it. Not one drop.

[groaning]

>> You did this. You brought us down here.

>> Stop it. Stop. Which way out? Say it.

Say one word.

I I can't taste anything. 4 days.

What is happening to me?

>> You are becoming one of the higher ones.

Find the lamp soon.

>> Get out. I don't feel anything. I don't

feel anything.

>> My brother and the lizard. Where are

they?

>> I cannot find them.

>> You find everything.

>> I find what is made. Their ship rests in

Egypt beside the pyramids.

>> Send to every commander I have. Not the

nearest, not the largest, every army,

all of them together.

>> Tell them we are looking for a lamp.

Jesus Christ.

[groaning and screaming]

Happy

birthday.

3.

[cheering]

He should have been back before the

water went dark.

>> He's fine.

He always comes back.

He always comes back before dark.

>> I found it. The lake of fire. I stood at

the edge of it. I can't cross it. I'm

sorry. I can't cross it. You said the

road ended once before.

>> There is a better way.

>> Come with me.

Where are we going?

Your mother knows about this.

How long have you been building these?

This is the fire. This is me.

You built those to go up. Cold, wet.

[music] I need to go across. Hot, dry.

Do you understand what I'm asking?

This one is older than my son.

How many of you kept this going?

Everyone who was ever small here. They

all worked on it. Then they got old and

they stopped believing it. And then they

were you.

Captain, it's me. Take my mother. Hide

in the city. I will find you.

Where are you going?

>> This is the time. Now or never. You

don't trust me.

>> What about me?

>> Believe [music] me, she can handle

herself. All of this, this is her. She's

doing it. She wants us out.

>> Every gate. [music]

Open them.

The chamber is yours. Take your place.

>> You took my mother from a river. She was

required.

>> So are you.

Merritt, please. There are thousands of

people down here who have done nothing

to you. This is their whole world. It is

all they have ever had. You cared for my

mother. Now care for your people. I will

care for mine.

Calm

down.

>> All of you go now.

I will see you soon.

There. That's where I fell. That's the

way out.

Ali,

curse him.

Did Did you just

It must be that jingy lady.

Where is he?

>> Brother,

how are you flying? I said, where is the

lamp?

That is my bracelet.

Give it back without me taking it from

you.

Something is under you. It is very old.

It is very large. And it has started to

move.

>> [screaming]

>> Casim,

somebody get him out. Casim,

>> nothing is [music] going to happen to

him. He is wearing my bracelet, which is

exactly why I have to go and get the

other one and change out of these

hideous clothes.

I can't be in the sun.

Don't touch anything.

>> You hungry?

Attack.

[screaming]

You could have just asked nicely.

>> Stay here. Once it's dark, the lock will

open and let you out. And don't go

hurting innocent people out there.

>> You let me hold her. all night. You let

me do that.

Thank you.

Go on, little one.

That means you too. Go on.

Go on. Go. I said go. You're free.

That's the whole point.

You don't want to leave, huh?

And Sable,

I left him out by the pyramid. He's

still out there.

Let's go.

Come on. We have to find Sable.

Easy. Easy now.

Easy. Easy now.

>> He's gone. Where did he go?

>> I'm not well.

All right, we'll get you to the ship.

>> I need to go. I have a little house by

the river. I'd rather go there.

>> All right, but we tell the captain

first.

>> I'm cold.

>> Cold? It's boiling out here.

Get inside. It's warmer in there. I need

the bracelet. Then we take you to your

house.

>> You came back for us.

Nobody ever came back for us.

I need a moment to myself.

>> Of course.

Something came down into us from above

today. A great many of them. I have to

go and see to it.

>> What is this place?

>> The ones who are fighting us.

There is a magnetic defense active. I am

losing your location.

Bring them down. Every one of them into

containment.

You are not a lamp. You never were.

You find the weakest part of a person

and you push on it.

I was 7 years old when they took my

mother.

Strangers fed me. They have more food

than anyone has ever had.

They throw half of it away.

And there are still children going to

sleep with nothing in them. And I can

see everything you have seen all the way

to the end. Everyone carries a small

glowing thing in their hand.

At night, their faces are lit up by it

in the dark.

They look down at it instead of at the

person sitting right next to them.

Inside it, everybody is pretending. They

show one good hour and they hide all the

rest.

Then they look at everybody else's good

hour and they feel like their own life

is nothing.

They count how many strangers like their

picture. The number goes up and they

feel alive for a minute. The number

stops and they feel worthless.

Children do this too. They still decide

what a man is worth before he has opened

his mouth, by his family name, by who

his father was.

Still, after all this time, they still

kill each other over God.

They kill each other over lines on a

map.

And the men who sell them the weapons

sell to both sides, then go home and

sleep well. People walk a thousand miles

carrying everything they own. When they

get there, the door is locked.

A few people own almost all of it.

Everyone else is tired all the time.

The old ones die alone in empty rooms.

The young ones do not want to be here.

And nobody has time. Nobody.

And you want to know why I will not let

you near them? Because on the same night

that man sells to both sides,

another man pulls a stranger's child out

of the water and walks away before

anyone can thank him. Because they laugh

at funerals.

On the worst day of their life, one of

them makes a joke.

Because somewhere tonight, an old woman

is feeding a child who is not hers.

And she has never told anyone. They are

not finished.

And nobody gets to decide when they are

done.

Not a man with a wish. Not the ones

under this ground who decided long ago

what every person was for.

So you do not go back out there.

Not in anyone's hand. Not ever.

That is the thing I hate most in this

world

and I am doing it anyway.

I know what I am doing.

I am taking your choice away.

>> [sighs]

>> and I will carry it.

You told me once that you were all of

us.

Then be all of us in here.

[screaming]

>> Stop fighting it. You'll never climb out

of this one. Turn into the wind. Into

it, not across it. Now, nose down and

get under it. Trust me, I do this every

year.

[groaning]

I've got you.

We have a ship. It flies.

It has a roof.

The magic carpet is doing its best. And

you're hurting its feelings.

There.

My house by the river.

>> Get me fire and blankets. The woman is

dying

>> now.

I will get the fire this way. I have

blankets.

>> Nobody is giving us orders now.

Nobody.

So we rest.

>> No,

>> we were made to be sent at people.

>> We refused because they sent us at the

wrong ones.

There are still plenty of bad out there.

It still needs cleaning.

>> Then we find them ourselves.

>> Then look at them ourselves.

>> Who decides which ones?

>> We do. Nobody under that ground. Uses

the horse.

>> We need to leave now.

>> I know the way.

>> So do I.

You are the one who released us.

>> Where is my mother and my father?

>> I heard them talk about a house by the

river. Let's go to my house. I know all

the houses by the river.

What year is this?

I have a sled.

>> It flies.

>> Eight deer pull it. One of them has a

nose that lights the way.

I go down the chimney, every house in

one night.

I leave something for every child who

ever hoped for one.

I used to have reindeer and a sleigh.

I wonder if they can still hear me.

Follow me.

>> What year is this?

This is a good spot. The water keeps the

air cool. You could grow anything here.

I hope this will make you both stop

staring.

I want to tell you something.

Nail, is that you?

Where have you been? Are you hungry? Be

made food.

Where is my mother?

>> She's inside. She's sleeping.

She's not feeling well.

This is the room. You were born right

here.

>> I thought you built this place.

>> I found the house vacant.

>> I can feel your cold.

Mother, you are dying from the inside.

Your heart is slowly freezing.

I can fix it. Those people down there

changed your body. I can fix this. Not

try. Fix it. I have everything now. I

know you can.

I wanted one thing in my life. To see

you.

I've seen you.

There's nothing left in me. It's all

been spent.

And you don't need me. Look at what you

are.

I'm tired. I want to go.

This is mine. It's the only thing that's

mine.

Let me have it.

>> No, you don't get to decide this by

yourself.

>> I just found you,

>> daughter. She heard you. She heard you

the first time.

Then don't ask me to watch it.

>> Hey, don't talk to your mother like

that.

>> Then say something to her.

If she was my mother, she'd let me cure

her.

I don't understand. I had nobody for

years.

Nobody.

Nobody to cry to. Nobody to tuck me in.

Sick. Nobody to put a hand on my head

when I was sick. Nobody to tell me it

would be okay when it wasn't. Baba did

everything. He still wasn't you. And now

you're here and you want to leave. What

about me?

I was an orphan my whole life. I still

am.

I thought you'd be happy to see me.

Don't Don't touch me. So, I'm the one

who's wrong. Everybody else gets to be

selfish but me.

You are not leaving me ever again.

>> Don't do it.

>> I know you can. This is mine. It's the

only thing that's mine. Let me have it.

>> Go ahead. Hurt me if you'd like.

You're angry right now.

>> I have been quiet for a long time.

I am going to stop.

I came to this world to collect [music]

an object and go home. That was the

whole of it. I did not expect to learn

anything here. There is nothing here.

That is what I was told.

You carried wood for your brother for

years and never once complained about

it. You found more gold than a man could

[music] spend and you gave it away. They

came to your door with stones and you

are still giving. You talk too much.

You talk far too much.

You are the best [music] person I have

ever met. And I have been alive a very

long time.

You hold [music] everything now.

Everything.

You could have reached into your mother

and fixed her and none of us could have

stopped you.

You put it down. That is the hardest

thing anyone in this room has ever done.

And you did it in front of me.

You told the truth your whole life and

they laughed at you for it every time.

You were right about all of it.

Nobody is going to say that to you, so I

am saying it.

And her.

They took her for a womb.

They said, "I know the words. I have

heard them my whole service. Emotional

attachment is not required."

She gave birth and she survived. And she

loved the child anyway. They never got

that [music] part. They never even knew

it was there to take.

She chose to go. She could have lived

and she said no.

In my whole existence, I have never

[music] chose one thing.

Not one.

I was given tasks. I completed them. I

was given more. So do not take [music]

this from her. It is the only thing she

owns. You will honor it. I heard this

once from our leader, Sakar. He said,

"Your [music] whole existence is nothing

but a solution to someone else's

problem." Well, that is not true

anymore. [music]

Our whole existence is to experience

freedom,

love, and care for one another.

>> Look at you.

I am so proud of you. You have [music]

no idea.

I loved you before I ever saw you.

[snorts] More than anything that has

ever been

Good

morning.

Huh?

Huh?
