I brought Alisa Ilinichina Amiella and Lenka Utsugi.

Thanks.

I'm Johannes von Schicksal,

director of Fenrir Far East Branch.

I want to welcome you, Alisa Ilinichina Amiella.

You're here at the Far East Branch...

for the Aegis Project.

Yes.

Mankind's fate rests on the shoulders of New-Type God Eaters like you.

Lenka Utsugi...

in view of your laudable actions,

the charges against you for insubordination are suspended.

Thank you.

Both of you, live up to our expectations.

Utsugi...

I personally would prefer to train you properly from scratch...

but orders are orders.

You will be assigned to a unit right away.

Kota!

Line up.

Kota Fujiki...

Alisa Ilinichina Amiella...

Lenka Utsugi...

Effectively immediately, you three are assigned to the 1st Unit.

Roger!

You are now under orders of the unit captain.

Captain Amamiya!

Roger that.

Anyway...

I'm Amamiya, unit captain.

Call me Lindow.

Yes sir, Lindow!

At ease. No need to stand on ceremony.

I'm Sakuya Tachibana, next in command.

Good to meet you.

Right! Glad to meet you, Sakuya!

Your turn.

Introduce yourself.

I'm Soma.

Nice to meet you, Soma!

Never mind the name.

Get up to speed fast, so you can have our backs.

You start tomorrow.

So rest up today.

Got my back?

Yeah.

Kota, your clothes...

Nice, huh?

It's a present from my mom for finishing training.

Hey, you!

It's our day off. Why don't we go into town?

C'mon, Lenka. To mark our unit assignment.

Hey! Wait!

Oh well, let's go, Lenka.

No thanks, I want to train.

How are things going?

The one named Utsugi...

Is that the New-Type youth?

His eyes...

His eyes?

They're the same as mine.

Uzhas.

As in "hell" in Russian?

No, forget what I said.

Things here are very...

peaceful?

It gives you time, so I think it's good.

You have things you must do, right?

Yes.

Man, this is a stress reliever!

We've been training so much...

Hey?

What's up, Lenka?

Well... Look.

Oh, food distribution.

Distribution?

They're passing out food?

To all those people?

Don't tell me you're from outside the walls?

Yeah...

Ah man, why didn't you say so?

You just arrived here?

Food and daily essentials...

are distributed in Fenrir to all residents here.

To everyone?

Hey, let's go!

Yeah...

Wait here, okay?

I'm home!

Kota!

Welcome home.

Hey, did Nozomi go out?

Here, from me.

Oh, this is Lenka from my class.

Mom, I'm officially assigned to a unit!

So to celebrate, I got all your favorites...

So you'll be dispatched?

I can't believe you're a God Eater...

You know what, Mom? I have to go. I just remembered an errand.

Kota!

Make it back safely.

Don't worry!

I'll stop by again.

Let's go.

Kota...

This is...

where it happened.

This is terrible.

They'd better complete Aegis in a hurry.

Aegis?

Oh, you don't know about Aegis either.

Follow me.

See that?

Huh?

An island?

That's Aegis.

That island is Aegis?

Yup.

The Aegis Project is to make that entire island a shelter.

A huge island like that?

A place where Aragami cannot attack...

Mankind's last hope, the Aegis Project.

How many people can it shelter once it's completed?

All of mankind.

Everyone on this Earth can be accommodated.

Every person on Earth?

Feels strange, doesn't it?

The future of mankind rests with us.

The 1st Unit's mission...

is to destroy Aragami and bring back its core.

Core?

The core is being used to construct Aegis.

We have to give it our all.

Yeah.

Episode 4 Aegis

Kota, this'll be your first real battle, right?

I-I'll be fine!

I'm fully trained and ready!

We'll go with two-man cells today.

As for the match-ups...

Alisa and her gun with me.

Newbie and his blade with Sakuya.

And Kota will be with Soma.

Roger.

Roger.

R-Roger.

Today's target is Gboro-Gboro. Six of them.

Each team takes two down.

Don't fail to extract the core.

Core?

Hey, newbie...

Devour it when you take it down.

Devour is the fastest, easiest way to get the core.

Just get used to it.

Only blade-type God Arcs have a devour function.

Make it count.

Lenka, divert it!

Lenka, devour!

Straight into the body!

That's the way. Let's go find the next one.

Alisa!

Okay!

Say, Alisa... You do know what a two-man cell is, right?

I simply took the most effective action.

I don't see any.

By the way...

Do you devour first, then take out the core?

Or...

Shut up.

Umm... I...

How ready...

are you for this anyway?

Lenka!

Today's target is the Gboro.

There's one!

Lenka!

Alisa!

Finish it!

Alisa?

What is she up to?

Bring it down in one blow, amateur.

Why didn't you finish it, Alisa?

Well...

I already got my quota.

Your quota?

Then you help the rest of your team!

Hey, are you listening to me?

A unit is...

How many did you guys get?

Just one.

Kota?

Uh... two with this one just now.

At least, Soma did.

And... I got one.

Let's head back.

Hey!

People...?

We're saved...

We're saved.

We thought it was over for us. We sure were lucky.

To the Far East Branch?

We lost most of the others.

Here.

Oh, thank you!

Go ahead and drink first.

Thank you.

Sure.

Is this okay?

We can't ignore them.

I don't mean that. What if...?

Are you guys God Eaters?

Yeah.

Then did you kill Aragami?

Yeah.

Awesome.

The gate for civilians is over that way.

Thank you so much.

We must be on our way.

How can you say that?

We risked our lives to get here!

It's the law.

We can't allow you to enter.

Please test us again!

I'm sure someone is...!

I must ask you to leave.

Otherwise...

Lenka!

Stop this!

Why won't you let them enter?

None of them passed the patch test.

Test?

Only those compatible to God Arcs, and their families...

are permitted to enter Fenrir!

What?

So you're turning them away?

We can't let everyone enter at random!

You know all too well...!

Let's go...

Go? Go where?

Where will we be safe? Tell me!

After we finally made it here...

- Wait! - Newbie!

Lindow...

Just what do you think you can do?

That's...

This is how it is.

Lindow!

We know the cause of the accident. The Oracle cell has undergone a change,

and we're close to fully grasping it, not to mention our future safety.

We cannot stop now.

Even if... it's the wrong decision.

If there's hope...

Lenka's from the outside.

Survivors who weren't counted...

Staying alive on the outside...

It's black.

You know what that's like?

Vajra...
