I am a Teacher
Pavel Andreyevitch, why?
Good morning, Pavel Andreyevitch.
Morning.
I brought you some milk.
Thank you Olia, don't forget to take the money.
Ania.
Oh?
Look.
Here he comes.
Vania, sit down.
Vania, we have some news for you.
Yesterday, Pavel Andreyevitch proposed to me.
What?
I'm getting married.
So now, we are no longer just roommates, but the real owners of this house.
How come?
Mom, you promised we would go back home soon.
Vania, what are you talking about?
You and your mother almost died, while living in the city.
Mom, you promised!
And there's probably no home left to speak of.
Besides, I'm no stranger to you.
I'm your uncle.
And it's not safe in the city now.
But here you have provisions and your mom just got herself another job.
Oh, that's right, I got to go to work!
I can't be late!
They say the commandant is very strict.
Mom.
Don't want to be late on the first day of work.
This doesn't look too silly, does it?
Vania.
Vania, don't forget - Pavel Andreyevitch saved us.
Be thankful.
Ok, I'm going to leave you guys to talk.
We are now a family after all.
Why do you need this city, Vania?
Listen, why don't we go fishing this Sunday?
We can stay overnight.
Good morning!
Good morning, Pavel Andreyevitch!
We'll make fire,
fry some potatoes,
We can make a fish soup,
get smelled up by smoke.
Don't marry my mother!
But why?
Because you will be the end of her.
Vania, why would you say that?
Vania.
Vania.
Besides that, new formations are occurring -
deputy councils, comprised of workers and peasants.
You can hear the calls to eliminate the exploitation of men by men,
and see the slogans - "Each man works only to the extent of own abilities",
"One receives as much as he works", or "He, who does not work - does not eat".
But in reality, all these promises remained only on paper...
They promised to give land to the working peasants,
but instead they entrapped people in communal farms.
They issued this to my dad yesterday.
Factory workers were promised a higher standard of living and prosperity,
but in reality it all turned out to be Stakhanovite involuntary servitude.
Check out this belt!
And there is no doubt that Stalin's political and economic system received its final blow.
As a result of three Stalin's five-year plans, the people have no shoes or clothes to wear,
and suffer from need and deprivation.
You city scum!
The Soviet....
What's wrong?
Kurenkov is spitting at me.
Kurenkov, stand up!
You will stay after class.
And there is no doubt that Stalin's political and economic system received its final blow.
As a result of three Stalin's five-year plans, the people have no shoes or clothes to wear,
and suffer from need and deprivation.
The Soviet command thought of nothing better than to provoke a war with Germany.
No.
Are you local?
I understood what you said,
I just forgot how to say...
I forgot how to say in German that I came from the city.
Captain, may I have a word with you?
Please.
It's important.
Speak.
This peasant came to me.
He says that last night in the mountains he saw a plane.
Who was that woman?
Herr Commandant,
the plane with paratroopers!
I asked you who she was!
Ok, just...just go.
Kurenkova, 34 years old, Russian, educated.
She came here a year ago with her son.
Is there a husband?
Her husband died in 1937.
She has a relationship with Zubov Pavel Andreyevitch.
He's a teacher in a local school.
What do you mean "has a relationship"?
Well, it means that they live together, but are not officially married.
Contact the commander of the local airfield.
Tell him to send the troops.
And use local police.
These paratroopers must be found.
It will be done.
First reservoir can fit 5000 liters of water.
Second reservoir can fit 3000 liters of water.
The third can fit 1000 liters.
Stop it!
I said - stop it!
Enough, stop it!
Stand up!
Stand up!
You sit down.
Sasha, go sit over here.
What's the matter with you guys?
Sit down.
Let's go on with the lesson! Look at the blackboard,
and write after me.
First reservoir can fit 5....
So what is really the matter?
He was asking for it, so he got what he deserved.
I'm not asking about that.
You said that I will be the end of your mother.
Why is that?
Yes, you will be.
I don't understand!
Sure you understand, Pavel Andreyevitch.
No I don't, please explain to me.
It is because you serve the Germans.
And now my mother works for them too.
And she has never worked for them before.
She would always say that Russians will come.
And they will.
I know that!
And when they come, do you know what they will do to you for this?
Listen, I just...
Pavel Andreyevitch,
Please leave us alone.
Don't marry her.
I serve the Germans, can you imagine that?
I'm a teacher, and my task is to educate children.
And it doesn't matter who reigns over us, will it be Germans, Communists or even Indians...
I will still teach,
it is like my calling in life...
My cross, if you will....
The regime changes, but I don't.
So there's no need to scare me about the Communists...
...that they will come and do something to me.
If they could, they would have come here a long time ago.
Are we supposed to wait our entire life now?
Maybe we should just go hide in the basement and wait it out?
Listen, if this regime is here forever, then what?
We must learn to survive, to adapt.
Because we are human, and not....
Tell me, today you went to serve the Germans?
Your son happens to believe that we are now their servants.
That we are now the traitors.
Please tell me that I'm right.
Of course I serve the Germans.
I saw the commandant today. He is a strange man.
He was looking at me so carefully,
you know, like at a woman.
You're just seeing things.
You get some rest.
What's the matter?
What's wrong?
Don't move!
Anybody else in the house?
Pavel.
Anyone else besides the woman?
There's a boy.
And you are?
Zubov, the teacher.
Whose side are you on, teacher?
I don't understand.
Sure you do.
Ok, I'll rephrase.
Will you rat me out?
Pavel.
I have to go.
Bring me some water.
Pavel Andreyevitch,
I took the money.
Zina says that first I need to pass the trial period,
and then I will start getting benefits.
Ok, I think this is all.
Pavel,
come lead me out, ok?
Listen, please try to find common ground with Vania.
It is very important to me, you know...
Yes, of course
You look strange.
Is everything ok?
Yes, everything is all right.
You aren't sick, are you?
No, all is good.
Ok, I'll be going then.
Good morning, woman!
Listen, I want you to go away immediately!
Your presence here puts me and my family in danger, do you understand?
Are you blind?
Can't you see the blood?
Or this hole in my side?
Come, help me with this.
Hold this.
Press that one against the back.
What do they call you?
Pavel Andreyevitch.
Listen, Pavel.
There's an airfield not far away, right?
Right.
How far away is it?
About 4 kilometers.
Ok, that's enough!
Stop that immediately and don't get me involved in this.
Am I clear?
Am I clear?
Couldn't be more clear.
Then what's the problem?
I did not rat you out, right? Right.
I brought you some water, right? Right.
I did everything you've asked.
Thanks a bunch.
Then go away, immediately.
Good morning.
May I come in?
Wait.
Frau Kurenkova.
Yes?
I have a gift for you.
Please take it.
I'm very thankful Sir Commandant.
Say it in German, please.
You have a pleasant accent.
Lesson topic: Adolf Hitler's biography
...had to work for food by doing hard labor,
and the youth of Adolf Hitler was not easy.
He was left with absolutely no money,
so from the early years of his life he had to earn a living...
Look what I got.
Be careful or it might blow up.
This was during the rise of capitalism.
As a young worker he moved to Vienna,
then seen as...
Just so you know, I will be asking questions!
...then seen as a brilliant capital of Austrian empire.
A huge disappointment awaited him there...
Ok, who did this?
Pushkin..
And like a fast stream the enemies ran
onto Russian fields.
They met a darksome steppe laying before them in a deep rest.
A smoke of blood comes from the earth;
And peaceful villages, and towns are all in fire,
and the sky is full of glow,
dark forests cover the ones that run away,
And a rusty plow is laying in the field.
Be afraid, you otherworldly warriors!
The sons of Russia stand against you.
The young and old have risen,
they run to face invaders, with vengeance in their hearts.
Tremble, you tyrant!
Your fall is near!
Our every warrior is a hero,
And they will win, or die in battles
for Russ, for the holiness of altar...
Children, stand up.
Good day, Sir Commandant.
Iโm sorry, I just couldnโt help myself... bravo.
Take your seats.
What's going on here?
A lesson..
So during lessons, which are dedicated to Fuhrerโs biography,
you now read poems of Russian poets?
Do you have a required training?
Yes, of course.
And?
The children got a little tired, Sir Commandant
They got tired of listening to your lesson
about the life of Adolf Hitler?
If Iโm not mistaken, he was shot...
Was it a duel?
Yes.
After you.
Good bye Sir Commandant.
Stop!
Take it.
Take it.
And now, you shoot.
Show us how you love the poet.
I'm sorry, but I can't do this.
Is that so?
And it was the same during the soviets.
If you work at the chairman's office -
you are considered either a lazy person or a time-server.
Those women just love to find a reason to gossip.
And now when there are those rumors about the lists..
They won't let us see the end of it.
What lists?
They say Shliakin has compiled the lists of people,
who will be sent to work in Germany.
And they say the departures will happen anytime soon now
But I'm sure both of us have nothing to worry about.
Can't say the same about everybody else...
Hey, what's going on there?
What does he want with him?
Ania!
Where do you think you're going?
Be silent.
Nothing's going to happen to him.
Just calm down.
Return to your place.
Bullseye!
I'm asking you again - why are you still here?
Why don't you knock?
I could have shot you.
Are you not hearing me?
I see you got beaten.
What?
It's good that they beat you.
It means you are on our side, am I right, teacher?
If you don't go immediately, I promise I will contact police.
So this is how you talk now, huh? - "You promise".
Go contact them, my comrades will come, and thank you for it.
I've just seen your comrades... in a cart, dead. They won't come looking for you.
Wait!
They were killed, and you will be too.
Go away, while you still can.
Wait, just hold on...
Pavel Andreyevitch, help me, will you?
I only need to get to the airfield.
You take me there, and I'll do the rest.
I'm the only one left.
There's a task before me.
I need to make one shot.
This creep must be killed!
He turns our men into fascists...
No, no.
Help me, we can save a lot of souls.
And you will even be commended, when our forces come.
I'm going to the police.
Listen, I came here to tell...
Oh, it's the teacher.
I've been looking for you.
Now you listen to me!
If you fail to teach that bastard son of your lover some good manners,
then I can do it myself, and a lot swifter.
Listen, I just...
Shut your mouth, teacher!
If he touches my son one more time...
Understood?
Yes, I underst...
So what did you come here for?
Ania!
Ania, what happened?
Ania.
Hurry up.
Come on, Vania, hurry up!
Pavel, what are you sitting here for?
Hurry up to Akimkin and get a horse.
Vania.
Vania.
Let go, he's not coming with us.
The boy should wait elsewhere.
I'm not going anywhere.
Vania.
So here's the deal.
You won't get arrested or hung.
Even though that's exactly what you should get
for assaulting the district commandant.
She was defending herself.
Now the other thing,
The captain has expressed a wish, though only verbally,
although I think it's only a matter of time,
for Madam Kurenkova to be sent to a labor camp in Germany.
And I think it's mighty generous of him.
But, she has a son.
I advise you to reconsider this.
You won't be able to get far.
They will catch you, and they will definitely hang you.
You will only get yourself in more trouble.
Vladimir Alekseyevtich!
Volodia!
Vladimir Alekseyevtich!
Please, help us!
I know you can.
Pasha, I can't do anything.
The captain is the one who decides here.
Can I speak with him right now?
Pasha, he's not going to talk to you.
An important guest arrives tomorrow -
General Vlasov's agitator.
He is our fellow countryman.
After the war, everything here will belong to him.
The Germans sold him everything.
Will captain be at the airfield?
Pasha, I'm telling you, don't stick your nose into this.
You can't fire guns with sticks.
Is she really worth all the trouble?
Pasha, come to your senses.
Yes, yes...
They won't find us. Please!
Why are you sitting there?
Mom, mom. Let's go, please.
Please, let's go.
Tell her!
What are you standing here for?
Do something!
What are you standing here for?
It's all because of you!
It would all be ok if it weren't for you.
I hate you!
I hate you, you hear me?
You are a nobody!
Vania, don't you dare!
It's me.
Where are you?
I agree to do this.
So, your conscience got the better of you?
I have a proposition for you.
All right, tell me.
The man you need to kill arrives tomorrow morning, right?
Right.
He will be met by a German officer, a captain.
Could you kill him as well? Please?
You intellectuals....
All right.
You won't even ask why I need this?
I don't need a reason to kill my enemies.
You surprised me, Pavel Andreyevitch.
I was beginning to think you were a scum.
That you would betray me to the Germans.
Anyway, thank you.
But my feelings are still a little hurt.
Hurt? Why is that?
Well, it turns out you are going out of your way
not for the sake of our Motherland,
but you've got your own interests.
What do you care?
Oh, there's a big difference!
You are a teacher, and you should see it.
I think that's a good spot.
You should know better.
This officer..
a captain...
He's tall, and he's limping.
You'll recognize him right away.
Nice,
very nice!
Pass me my rifle.
Will you kill the captain?
Let me tell you something.
Taking the second shot will be difficult.
I will be aiming at a moving target.
You see, they will all start running after the first shot.
But don't worry.
I'm a good shooter.
I was the best in my regiment.
Pavel Andreyevitch, I'm curious -
what do you teach kids in school nowadays?
Just like before - arithmetics, natural science, mother tongue,
and they have recently restored the God's law lessons.
So you read the Gospels,
prayers?
We do.
I'll be going now.
Yes, sure.
Pavel Andreyevitch.
Can you pray for me?
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, โHe is my refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust.โ
I'm sorry, I don't remember the rest.
It's ok.
Keep quiet.
they are coming!
And this, I believe, is your captain.
Yes, that's him.
All we have to do now is wait,
and this job is in the bag.
Go ahead.
They'll kill you on sight.
The Germans are close.
So why do you need him killed?
It's about my wife. He wants to send her to Germany.
Then I must congratulate you Pasha.
Because you are willing to die for your most sacred thing -
for a woman.
Enough with your crap.
Sacred, good, Godly....
Donโt pretend to be a martyr of some sort...!
Hush!
Who needs our deaths anyway?
He's coming.
Did you hear what I said?
He's coming, that bastard!
You will not start shooting, until I leave... Right?
If you shoot now, we both die.
Can't you see that?
I need to live.
What are you doing?
Welcome, sir colonel...
How was your flight?
It was ok.
What's wrong?
Let go!
Last year I almost got killed...
A few seconds before the shot I felt cold.
Right here.
It saved my life.
And now I have the same feeling.
But it's probably nothing...
Let's go to the car.
He got away.
It was all for nothing.
He got away!
You will pay for this, you worm!
Listen, the main thing is that we are alive.
It's more important than your task, right?
Hold on! I remembered something!
Your target will stay at the captain's house for a few days.
Bastard!
If our agreement still stands....
No more agreements with you, scum!
What are you doing?
Shut up!
I'll take this.
If you decide to run away,
Your papers are staying with me.
And if I die here,
I will be found, along with your documents.
Now listen to me!
In the evening you will come...
Look at me!
In the evening you will come and take me back to the village.
You got it?
Good.
Now get out of here, Pasha...
Go teach those kids...
...the law of God.
Pavel?
Where have you been?
I couldn't sleep all night.
What's going on?
I'm sorry, I'm going to be late.
Hold on!
Please, think about what you are doing, ok?
Go through the village, and tell everybody
that tomorrow there is going to be a meeting at 10 o'clock,
here at the commandant's office.
Tell them it's important. The new landlord is coming.
Pavel Andreyevitch!
Tell your mother I'm not coming home today.
Why?
Just tell her!
Are you doing this for her?
Lets hide her!
Good morning, Pavel Andreyevitch.
Greetings, Pavel Andreyevitch.
Pavel Andreyevitch, will you save her?
Vania, I'll do my best.
Where to now?
To school!
Won't there be lessons?
It's a day off.
Easy now.
Give me my rifle.
Quiet!
You...were you following us?
It's not safe.
No.
Go home, immediately!
And who is this?
Your son?
I'm not his son.
Give me back my documents.
I need to go.
Pasha,
I'm dying.
You will have to be the shooter.
Me?
I can't.
I can.
Did you hear that?
He's definitely not your son.
Are you sure? This is certain death.
I'm sure.
What is your name?
Piotr.
Piotr, can you teach me how to shoot?
Ok, that's enough!
I will do it!
When I come back,
you will show me how.
Go home, now!
Pasha,
don't let your son down.
Vania.
Pasha,
I need to know what's going on.
Well?
Don't be silent.
Ok, that's it, enough.
Enough, enough.
Good morning to all of you!
Good morning.
Anybody who hasn't payed taxes this month -
I advise you to hurry up.
Haven't you robbed us enough already?
Who is this smart mouth?
Here, look!
You see these?
These boots are a reward.
And they are awarded to our
fellow villager Rudenko,
for capturing dangerous saboteurs.
Thank you, thank you, good job.
Ok, now...
Now we are once again no longer a kolkhoz.
Here with us today we have a man, who is
a war hero, an agitator,
and a Colonel of the Russian liberation army -
Rykov Konstantin Dmitrievitch.
Colonel, by the way, is our fellow countryman.
He wanted to get to know you all.
After the victory, the Colonel is going to be our governor.
Our new landlord.
So please welcome him with a round of applause.
Greetings my fellow countrymen.
Greetings.
I wish you all a good day.
So, it is not easy to live under the new government, huh?
Yes, I understand.
It was way better before.
It was really good before, right?
Now that was the life!
There was plenty of food,
the beds were softer, the taxes did not exist.
Am I right? Did I miss something?
And what's most important -
during the Soviets you all felt the care of the state
about each one of you.
You people truly are ignorant.
Ignorant and unhappy.
And I'm not saying this to offend you.
Thank you.
I've spent 5 years living in Germany.
Do you know how a German peasant lives?
His life is better than we could have ever dreamed of.
And he lives happily.
There's always bread, meat, milk, ham on his table for dinner.
Do you know what ham is?
Come, tell us.
Aim down.
Aim a little lower than the head.
Hold it tight.
Calmly, Pasha...
Breath calmly.
I'm talking about the fields, lakes, forest.
And this is how the whole civilized Europe lives.
Shoot him.
What are you waiting for?
Soon a department of the Russian Liberation Army will open here.
Anyone who joins our movement will be given allowances.
And their relatives and close ones will be
freed from hard labor.
I say again -
only together with Great Germany,
Russia will be able to defeat this contagion that is Bolshevism.
And soon you will remember my words.
Maybe not tomorrow, or the day after.
But in a few years, when you will be working
on your own land.
And each day for dinner you will have cheese and ham.
We just care about the lives of each one of you.
Each and every one of you.
That is all.
The meeting is over.
Move along people.
What are you standing here for?
Have you seen Pavel Andreyevitch?
I didn't know you used to live in Germany.
You believed me?
I have never been there, imagine that.
In 1941 we got surrounded.
I was captured and sent to a camp.
"You want to live"? they asked.
"Yes".
I want to live.
Just like any sane person does.
This meat is very delicious.
Sir Commandant.
Shall we begin?
Yes.
Come back.
Is Kurenkova in the lists?
You haven't given me such orders.
Put her on the list.
But the lists have already been approved.
That's an order.
It shall be done.
Faster!
So are we taking Kurenkova?
We are taking everybody.
Olia?
Olia, what happened?
They took my mom away.
Who took? Where?
To some place in Germany.
Anna, Anna.
Anna.
Ania!
Pasha,
I only ask you of one thing -
protect Vania.
Vania, listen to Pavel Andreyevitch and do as he asks.
Now he is your father.
I kiss you both.
Anna.
Vania!
Ivan!
Glukhof!
Yes, Pavel Andreyevitch?
Have you seen Vania?
No, I haven't.
Are you sure?
Yes.
Hold on, have you seen Vania?
He went to Patiukhins' place.
Thanks.
Valera, where's Vania?
I don't know.
Who punched you? Was it him?
Yes.
What for?
For refusing to give him my grenade.
Did he take it from you?
Did he?
Did he take it?
He did.
Take him to the cell.
Move it!
You have great reflexes, captain.
Or maybe just intuition, like yours.
What are you planning to do with the boy?
In reality, he should be hung.
But personally I am against the execution of children.
So I think we will send him to a labor camp.
And as you know, nobody lives quite long in there.
Especially children.
I have a proposition for you.
The kid wants to play a hero.
How about we let him?
And what if he truly is a hero?
You underestimate me.
The Russian Liberation movement already has 200.000 members
I know how to persuade people.
You want to bet?
Give me 24 hours and I will put our uniform on him.
Please, go away!
The documents are ready.
Listen, take this woman and her goat out of here.
Go on, go on.
You never helped us, even during the soviets.
This is no place for farm animals.
Vladimir Alekseevitch.
I'm listening.
Ivan Kurenkov.
He's just a kid.
A child, he's only 13 years old.
So what?
I'm responsible for him, don't you see?
Pasha, we have already figured this out.
This act of his was vengeance for sending his mother to Germany.
You have nothing to do with this.
Pasha, just go, don't make it worse.
Go on, Pasha.
You should have thought about this earlier, Pavel.
Pasha, not again...
The kid who threw the grenade...
Tell me everything about him, and do it quick.
I was amazed by what you did.
You want the truth?
But only between us -
I want to help you.
I had a talk with the captain,
and with some effort I persuaded
him to transfer you to me
for re-education.
And that means that you won't be hung,
or sent to a labor camp.
By he agreed to do it under one condition -
you have to come with me willfully.
I'm not going anywhere with you.
So you want to die a hero?
That's admirable.
But silly.
The real heroes die for a cause.
And you don't have any.
Or do you?
Your father was killed for a cause.
And what cause did you want to kill for?
Can you tell me that?
Well, then I don't understand why you don't want to come with me.
It's because you are a traitor.
And who do you think I betrayed?
Who?
You should first get clear on what betrayal is.
Look at me.
Look at me.
Standing before you is a man who loves his country
with all his heart,
and believes in its grandness and future prosperity.
Is this what you call betrayal?
This teacher of yours, he teaches you kids something, right?
But is he ready to give his life for something he believes in?
Let's think about this.
Open up.
Greetings, I'm sorry to disturb you,
but are you the owner of the house?
The boy who almost killed the commandant,
I understand he is your stepson?
Yes.
Do you want to help him?
Why didn't you shoot?
Why?
Here's the letter from your mother.
...Vania, listen to Pavel Andreyevitch....
Now he is your father.
The colonel who spoke to you today...
He is going to save you.
Pavel Andreyevitch,
what would you do in my place?
Pavel Andreyevitch,
I'm very curious,
What exactly did you tell him?
Share with me.
I told him I would say "yes", if I was him.
Smooth, very smooth.
You gave him a great example.
A teacher is always an example for the pupils, right?
Now, I will be his teacher.
Could I speak with Vania one last time?
Why?
It is very important to me.
You shouldn't.
Let go.
I just need to speak with him,
please.
He belongs to me now.
I would like to ask everybody who knows about the fate of my mother,
father, sister Nina, and brother George
to tell them to watch this film.
I'm very worried about their fate,
ever since the Bolsheviks and NKVD visited our village.
Living here is great.
Here we have the sewing machines,
a barbershop, where ladies beautify themselves.
There's always hot water.
You can wash yourself, wash your feet.
I understand that by doing my job I help
in a fight against Bolsheviks,
and bring closer the time when we all together
start building our new Motherland,
without Bolsheviks or capitalists.
Doing work in spacious and bright shops,
which are build according to the latest technological
advancements, is easy, effortless and cheerful.
I have lived for 21 years, and what have I seen?
What can I remember? Mostly it is the unhappy living
during the Bolsheviks.
Here I have witnessed a good and cultural life
and truly good and well-mannered people.
Mother, I would also like to add
that I have gained some weight.
My health is very good,
and, I'm even ashamed to say it,
but my sister Shura has gained 2.5 kilos.
Making delicious food for your
fellow countrymen is equally important,
since each plant, each factory
in Germany cares about the nourishment of their workers.
Because only through good nourishment
it is possible to secure good and fruitful work.
O God of spirits and of all flesh,
Who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil,
and given life to Thy world, do Thou, the same Lord,
give rest to the soul of Thy departed servant Piotr
in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose,
where all sickness, sighing, and sorrow have fled away.
Pardon every transgression which he has committed,
whether by word or deed or thought.
For Thou art a good God and lovest mankind;
because there is no man who lives yet does not sin,
for Thou only art without sin,
Thy righteousness is to all eternity,
and Thy word is truth.
For Thou are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Thy servants
who have fallen asleep, O Christ our God,
and unto Thee we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father,
who is from everlasting, and Thine all-holy, good,
and life-creating Spirit, now and ever unto ages of ages.
Amen.
It's a bit large.
Do you like it?
Comrade Colonel, the car is ready.
Thank you.
Don't forget the boots.
We will reach our destination by evening.
Be faster!
Don't forget the suitcase.
Go to the car.
By the way, let me remind you of our bet.
You lost it.
This cold, I can feel it again.
Give me your hand!
Give me your hand!
Your hand...
And like a fast stream the enemies ran
onto Russian fields.
They met a darksome steppe laying before them in a deep rest.
A smoke of blood comes from the earth;
And peaceful villages, and towns are all in fire,
and the sky is full of glow,
dark forests cover the ones that run away,
And a rusty plow is laying in the field.
Be afraid, you otherworldly warriors!
The sons of Russia stand against you.
And young and old have risen,
they run to face invaders, with vengeance in their hearts.
Tremble, tyrant!
Your fall is near!
Our every warrior is a hero,
And they will win, or die in battles
for Russ, for the holiness of altar...
Goodbye Vania, your uncle Pavel
