[A Talented Girl Grows Up]

[Episode 18]

I don't care if it's a stupid idea.

I just want to know

what they are doing.

Fire! Fire!

Where? Where?

See?

Like I said,

Manyi

knows what she's doing.

She'll never do anything inappropriate.

Maybe they put their clothes back on.

Mr. Wen!

They found us. Let's go.

Manyi!

Manyi! Wake up!

Manyi!

Knock-out smoke.

It's

one of the most common dirty tricks out here.

This is a clip joint.

Let's take them out of here.

Come on.

Hurry.

Go!

Please don't kill me!

Get lost!

Brother!

Honey?

Wen Chenyi, is that you?

Yes.

Why do you still care about me?

You are my wife.

No matter what happens,

I won't leave you.

But...

I don't want...

I know.

Manyi. You're awake.

Are you okay?

That clip joint!

I'll

make it disappear when I go back.

Where is he?

Who?

It's always been just the two of us here.

No one else.

Manyi, warm yourself at the fire.

It's cold in the mountains at night.

You are my wife.

No matter what happens,

I won't leave you.

Fine.

You have the guts to get me back,

but dare not show up.

Coward.

Brother.

So, you saved me?

Tell me.

How should I thank you?

I...

I want...

No problem.

Okay.

You also have to give me more meat.

Okay, no problem.

It's a deal then.

Let's see how long you can hide.

Manyi, I'm guessing you don't like the food.

I've been away from home for too long. I miss spicy chicken.

Spicy chicken?

I heard you mention spicy chicken.

We just added it to our menu.

Try it.

Come on.

What a pity. I'm full.

It looks delicious. Let me try it.

Nope. Let's go.

Come on.

She didn't eat it.

I really miss peanut cake.

Peanut cake?

Oh my god!

I want red bean milk tea now.

What is this?

Milk tea.

What?

If only I had a six-piece burr puzzle.

Where did you get those?

I don't want them anymore.

I was joking.

[A Talented Girl Grows Up]

Here you are.

What is it that you have to

climb to the top of the mountain to tell me?

If I don't tell you now,

there might be no chance.

You...

What are you doing?

♫It's like deep and true love losing to time♫

Manyi.

You caught a glimpse of me

♫Only sadness and wounds can be commemorated♫

on that rainy day.

You warmed my heart

like sunshine.

♫Just like movie plots and stories, only imperfections hold beauty♫

I never thought I would

love a woman so much.

♫It can become destined regrets♫

I feel happy

when I see you happy.

I feel sad

♫When do we feel loved and indebted♫

when I see you sad.

Because of you,

♫It seems as if deep affection is captured in film♫

I want to be more modest.

Because of you,

♫Crying, laughing and fading, so the drama can be praised♫

I want to reconsider my future.

♫The curtain falls, leaving an extra moment of warmth♫

Feng Qiwu.

Did I give you the wrong idea?

I've never...

♫I'll gradually be forgotten by time♫

Manyi.

Hear me out.

You were married to him,

so I had no choice

♫It's better to part ways than to gather with red eyes♫

but to keep my love for you

to myself.

I just wanted you to be happy.

But it's different now.

♫But you left in a hurry♫

He let you down.

So now I want to be selfish.

♫Leaving me with a darkened theater♫

Manyi, I really hope

the one who gets to make you happy

♫There's no place to say goodbye♫

is me.

♫No one forces you to act a certain way towards me♫

I know he's already here.

So this is my last chance.

I must tell you

the things I've been having

♫Heartfelt emotions don't rehearse and then bloom again♫

on my minds these days.

♫So please don't push yourself too hard♫

Phoenixes only roost in the parasol trees.

♫And don't lie when you're tired; Exit quietly♫

And the parasol trees don't like any other birds

to rest in them.

♫In silence♫

Manyi, do you want to be with me

like a phoenix roosts in a parasol tree?

Feng Qiwu.

Thank you for your love.

But in my heart...

Don't say yes!

Manyi, you can't say yes.

Look who finally showed up.

Wen Chenyi, I've had enough of you.

Who are you to interfere with her decision?

She's my wife.

What a joke!

You're divorced.

She's single now.

She can say yes to anyone.

"Anyone" means

me included.

I also have the right to pursue her again.

Face the fact.

You're just her ex-husband.

It's just your wishful thinking.

You're just her friend.

It'll happen if I work hard enough.

We still love each other even though we're not married anymore.

-Manyi, forgive me. -Manyi, accept me.

Let go of me!

I just want to make a career now.

If you do this again,

you should both go back to the capital!

Stop it!

Why don't you two go aside to battle it out?

I'm gonna see Cui Jun off.

[Fuzhou]

Wei is alone

on a tour in Lianzhou.

I'm worried

there's no one taking care of her.

Your mind is obviously there with her.

Go now.

I'll go then.

When everything is over,

we'll meet up and go back to the capital.

Tell Chenwei I said hello.

Yeah.

Bye.

Hya!

[Fuzhou]

Easy.

[Yihong Drugstore]

It's all right.

Mom, I'm hungry.

It's all gonna be all right.

Son?

Wake up.

Has anyone seen my child?

Have you seen my child?

My child!

Is there any food?

It doesn't look like there are bandits here.

It seems to have been stricken by a disaster.

Judging by the soil on them

and the humidity of the ground,

there must have been a flood.

But Fuzhou is in an elevated position,

how could there be a flood?

Where is Mayor He Lian?

Didn't he say he was coming to meet us at the gate?

The impartial lord is here!

[Yihong Drugstore]

He'll save us!

My lord.

My Lord.

Who is he?

Please give us some food.

My Lord.

Please give us some food.

Here.

Thank you.

Don't worry.

There's enough for everyone.

I won't let any of you starve

even if I have to

give away everything I've got.

Ma'am, you're...

It's an old problem.

And I got a kid with me.

You'll have something to eat soon.

Kids need nutrition.

And you should go see a doctor.

Here's some money.

Thank you.

Take it.

Thank you.

It's rare to find

such a dedicated mayor.

He seems to be an upright officer.

[Order]

I didn't know the Imperial Envoy was here.

I'm sorry I didn't go to greet you.

Please forgive me.

Lord He.

Mayor He is a good officer.

You can't arrest him.

Yeah!

The breaching of the dyke

wasn't his fault.

If you want to arrest someone,

arrest me.

Arrest me.

Arrest me.

Arrest me.

Everyone!

Quiet!

Quiet.

They mean no offense.

Please don't blame them, My Lord.

I'm

the mayor.

It was my incompetence

to put you through this.

I can't live with it

even if

the court doesn't apportion blame.

My Lord, don't blame yourself.

You are a good officer.

Listen.

His Majesty sent me here to look into it.

I won't spare any bad person,

and I'll never wrong any good officer.

Please be impartial.

I don't care if I die.

But please bring Yu Yidao, the notorious bandit,

to justice.

He's committed rape abd robberies

and done all kinds of evil.

In order to rob a tomb for treasure,

he even caused a breach of the dyke,

which led to a flood

that had made hundreds of thousands of people homeless.

I'll die with everlasting regret

if

he's not eliminated.

Please get up, Lord He.

I, Cheng Manyi, promise you.

I won't return to the capital

until I solve this problem.

Yeah!

Yeah!

We've been apart for days.

Don't you have anything to say to me?

Of course I do.

It's been a long time.

You...

You must miss your brother.

Mr. Wen is doing well.

Don't worry.

And?

Manyi is good too.

And?

Feng Qiwu is also good.

I heard

there is a Bodhi tree in Lianzhou.

Lovers will get married if they say each other's name

for three times.

I don't know if it's true.

I really want to check it out.

But it's a bumpy road.

In that case,

don't go.

Besides, it's mostly fake.

Don't take it seriously.

Come and take a look.

Rabbits.

Cute rabbits. Take a look.

Take a look.

Look, the rabbits are so cute.

They are a pair.

I'm envious of them.

If I can have someone...

I understand what you mean.

You really do?

You like rabbits, right?

Yeah.

And?

Wait here.

I'll be right back.

Here.

They are a pair.

One for you and one for me.

It tastes better when it's hot.

You...

How can you eat rabbits?

It's delicious.

You...

You are the dumpest man in the world!

Why is she upset again?

[A Talented Girl Grows Up]

[Dessert Shop]

Anyone there?

Open the door!

[Emeralds and Gold]

Anyone there?

Hello?

Anyone home?

Anyone there?

He's about this tall.

And he has a scar

on his face right here.

Did you see his face?

He's strong.

He went around killing people...

With a knife this long.

He's evil.

I want to eat his flesh and drink his blood.

I want to kill him.

Don't worry.

I will catch him.

Is that him?

I've seen him.

It's him.

Wait.

Over there.

There's something inside.

Come on.

Let me do it.

This must be the stolen goods left by Yu Yidao.

I thought this case would be difficult.

I didn't expect

to get a big clue so soon.

Here, Manyi.

You're one step closer to become

Feng State's No.1 Imperial Censor.

But to be honest,

I'm confused.

If this case

had been this easy,

why would they have sent us all the way here?

Manyi.

People in Fuzhou like sweet food.

You probably won't like the food here.

So I made you

your favorite spicy chicken.

Come on.

Try it.

I'll try it reluctantly.

Who said

she won't like the food here in Fuzhou?

Serve up.

We're in Fuzhou.

We have to try the local food.

Manyi,

I ordered everything on the menu.

There must be something you like.

This time, I won't give in.

Manyi is mine.

Manyi belongs to no one

but herself.

Manyi.

Here.

Manyi, try the fish.

Try this.

I want...

I want...

I want...

I want...

You two, stop it!

It's just a meal.

You don’t need to have a fight.

Your Highness, it’s inappropriate for you

to take someone else's food.

No one was eating it. Therefore I didn't take it

from anyone.

It's a competition at most.

Manyi.

Neither of you want to eat, huh?

Fine.

Let's get down to business!

The testimony,

the portrait

and the murder weapon

all point to Yu Yidao.

Looks like he's without doubt the murderer.

Don't you think it's strange?

What do you mean?

You're right.

The portrait is surprisingly consistent with the testimony.

Yes.

People's points of view on the same thing

and the same person

are affected by subjective factors.

They are bound to differ.

It's almost impossible to be identical.

Unless...

Unless they have worked out all the details

in advance.

Yes.

I think

we need to

see for ourselves.

We have to go deeper

to know the whole story.

This case is getting interesting.

It seems that finding him

is the only way we can get to the truth.

All the main roads in Fuzhou

are guarded by soldiers

in case refugees get around.

He needs a permit

to leave.

Yu Yidao must

still be in Fuzhou.

I'll post a reward for his whereabouts.

I'm sure we'll find him.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in Fuzhou.

It'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

We must find a way

to lure him out.

My Lords!

Go ahead.

Lord He sent me to inform you

we have captured Yu Yidao's accomplices.

Go get your reward.

Thank you, My Lord.

The bait's ready.

Now it's up to the fish to bite the hook.

Run!

Wang, come with me.

You've lost.

Surrender now.

You should know

you're helping an evil man.

Leaving you on this earth is a scourge to the people.

What are you talking about?

He's gone.

He managed to escape?

Go after him!

Yes!

Anyone who can catch

Yu Yidao

will be rewarded 1000 taels of gold.

Wait.

Well...

You don't have to go through so much trouble.

I have put a special spice

on the patrol wagon.

The bandit must have got it on his coat.

We can just send hunting dogs

to trace the scent.

My Lord, I've got something.

You guys wait outside.

No one acts without my order.

Mayor He.

Open the door for the Imperial Envoy.

Manyi?

Freeze! Hands up!

They are just ordinary people.

They're not bandits.

Did we get the wrong location?

Come at me.

Don't hurt innocent people.

The bandit still

cares about the people at this moment?

Sir.

There are many questions about the Fuzhou case.

The witnesses's testimonies

and the evidence all seem prearranged.

If you can give us some clues,

we can make things right as soon as possible.

We are not people who stand facts on their heads.

It's all for justice.

[Order]

I’m the Fifth Prince of Feng State.

If you still don't believe

our sincerity,

take me hostage.

I am Yu Yidao.

He Lian

did all of it.

The word is He Lian was ordered by someone powerful in the capital

to look for the treasure.

So he forced people to dig the dyke,

which led to the breach

and caused a disaster.

Hurry!

Hurry!

What are you doing?

Hurry!

Then He Lian tried to get rid of them

to cover it up

so that he could keep his job.

I happened to be traveling here.

I couldn't bear to see them die,

so I saved them.

That's why he accused me of banditry.

I want to kill that scoundrel

to seek justice for those who died in vain.

And Wang, who is still in prison.

He just said something fair

as the head of laborers.

I would gladly die

if I could bring justice

to the people.

Please help us.

Please help us.

Please help us.

-Please get up. -Please help us.

Please help us.

Please help us.

Please get up.

Get up.

-Get up. -Get up.

Please get up.

Don't worry.

I swear

I will clear your names

and bring He Lian to justice.

I'll do my best

for my country and the people.

I won't let you down.

Me too.

Manyi's business

is my business.

Thank you, My Lords.

Thank you, My Lords.

My Lords,

I've got a lot of guards here.

We'll keep you safe

even if we fight to the death.

That old fox

wants to kill by our hands.

We've known the truth.

And you're the Imperial Envoy.

We should just go confront him.

No.

Mayor He's power is entrenched

in Fuzhou.

If we act rashly,

we'll only make him want

to kill us.

Then he'll put the blame

on the bandit.

He'll lose his job at most,

but we'll die.

Right!

You're a bandit.

On my order.

If anything happens...

Don't move!

Tell your men to back off,

or I'll kill her.

Back off!

So what if you kill me?

Mayor He is a good officer.

He'll bring you to justice.

Shut up!

She's the Imperial Envoy.

And he's the Fifth Prince.

If anything happens to them in Fuzhou,

I'm afraid

you can't handle the responsibility.

Yu Yidao, let the Fifth Prince

and the Imperial Envoy go.

We can talk this out.

Let them go?

They are my free pass.

Back off!

Back off!

Back off!

What are you waiting for?

-Go! -Go!

Protect the Fifth Prince!

They will kill her.

Mayor He,

you must keep the bigger picture in mind.

Don't hurt the Imperial Envoy.

What are you waiting for?

Go after them!

Let them go. I'll give you a ransom.

What are you doing?

Get out of my way!

Mr. Yu.

Take the money to buy them food and medicine.

I appreciate it on behalf on them.

You're welcome.

May I know

your name?

I'm Wen Chenyi.

May I ask you,

is your grandfather Wen Xian?

Yes.

Do you have anything to prove it?

My grandfather gave me this jade pendant.

Your grandfather helped my grandparents a lot.

They followed him.

Before your grandfather retired,

he buried some secret treasure in Fuzhou

and asked my family to guard it for generations.

Secret treasure?

Is that what Mayor He is looking for?
