Original subtitles

Jeez, it's so post-apocalyptic out here.

I'm Jenny DePata.

We have lots of stories today.

Speaking of post-apocalyptic, I'm really scared of a zombie apocalypse.

Speaking of zombies, do you like zombie movies?

Well, good, because next up, Legends of the Undead.

A whole collection of zombie films.

First up, The Fittest.

Where a group of kids find out just what it takes to survive.

Hello, hello, answer, answer.

CDC. Yes, this is Terry down at Mississippi College.

We have had an accident in the lab and radiation has been released.

My goodness, there are dead people coming to life.

No, I'm serious.

No, it's never happened before.

Yes, I know. No, they're dead bodies. The radiation has caused them to come

back to life.

It seems to be spreading through their bodily fluids.

I'm not sure how that works. Bodily fluids, when they bite each other,

they're all in the building. They're everywhere. I don't know.

No, I'm not going to find one.

Are you crazy? I'm trying to get away from them.

No, I am not getting close to one.

No, no. I came through a door. They don't seem to be able to pull it open.

They can't pull. I don't know. It's weird.

They're coming from everywhere.

I don't know how they're walking. It's like when they came back to life, their

extensors were working. They can push. They can stick out their hands, but they

can't pull.

I don't know.

There is one muscle, though, that is certainly working, and that's the

masseter muscle.

They are able to chew. I saw this one zombie go after this guy. It's like he

can sense they're alive.

I don't know, but they can definitely shoot.

They're stumbling around the building. I don't think they can run.

These are deteriorating bodies anyway.

We're talking like their legs would snap off. Their ankles would just break off.

Well, yes, I suppose they could adapt. I guess they could walk

on their hands and knees or whatever, but wait.

It seems quiet. I think I'm going to make a break for my office.

One.

to...

Damn!

Gee, I don't know, Missy. Maybe because I haven't asked you yet.

How do we know we can trust her if we don't know who she is? For all we know,

one of those things could have bitten her.

Where is she from?

How is she still alive?

I'm standing right here, you know.

And to answer your question, my name is Jonna.

I have no bites, and I came from the pool.

Do you know what's going on outside?

What?

Why'd you come up here?

Whenever I get done swimming, I like to come up here and think, because there's

usually no one up here.

So you have no clue what's going on out here?

No, I don't. Who are y'all?

Dan.

Todd.

Kev.

In case you were wondering, my name is... I know what your name is, Missy.

In case you were wondering, I wasn't.

So what's up, Dan?

Something bad's happened.

Something bad?

Everyone is... Dead.

Everyone's dead?

What do you mean everyone's dead?

There's this sickness going around.

It causes people to turn into animals.

Dead animals.

What?

It... It makes people into cannibals.

Cannibals? What, so everyone's a cannibal now?

Only the dead ones.

How did this happen?

We're not quite sure.

Not so tough now that you know the truth, are you?

What are we supposed to do?

Stay here and just survive until help comes.

Help?

What help?

No, sweetheart, no help is coming.

We are going to stay here for a very long time.

But, as for now, we're going to make do with what we have, which isn't a lot.

But what there is, is mine.

Mine to survive on.

And mine to share.

So, don't you go getting any ideas and overstepping your boundaries, or we'll

put you right back on that elevator where you came from.

We've got a live one.

We got a lobby coming in!

Dude, is that really necessary?

We just saw him come in.

Dan, I'm not taking any chances. He might have got bit.

Whatever.

Hello? Did you get bit? What? Did you get bit? No, I didn't get bit.

What's that on your arm?

It's a birthmark.

That looks like a bite to me. Dan, what do you think? I don't know.

I'm telling you, it's a birthmark.

What's your name?

Why do you want to know my name?

I want to know your name, so that I can tell you you're not telling us anything.

We're telling you.

And if we tell you to crawl back on that elevator, you're going to do it.

Because that's the way it works up here.

We tell you what to do, and you do it.

What do you think, Missy? That look like a bite to you?

I think it looks like a one-way ticket out of here for our nameless friend.

It's enough of a vote for me. Dan, let's put him out of here. No, not yet.

Kev, what do you think?

It's not up to me who stays and goes.

I'm going to go with Flo on this one.

Dan, it's up to you.

I'm not going to sacrifice five lives for one.

Sorry, Kev.

Five? It's a birthmark.

How would you know that?

We used to date.

Well, what happened there?

What do you want, Jonna?

I can't believe what you just did, Gabe.

Do you have any idea what effect you're having on me right now?

Effect on you? You can't be a little sympathetic?

You selfish- Between you and me, you act and have always acted like an- As, if

you can say any different.

This relationship in general, you just don't give a- For the record, there is

no relationship.

Not after today.

All you want to do is sleep.

I'm depressed.

I want my boyfriend back, Gabe.

I'll sleep on it.

All he wanted to do was sleep.

Whatever.

Look, if you're going to be in this building, you're going to have to keep

both eyes open. And your mouth shut. You keep your mouth shut!

Look, guys, just make sure everyone gets some water and no one stays outside too

long. It's mug water!

Woman, if you don't cut the crap!

We're going to put you in that elevator.

Why did you do that?

I don't know.

Yes you do. Why?

When I figured out what had happened, I thought I had lost everything.

Everyone has.

But in the scheme of things...

my foster parents live so far out in the middle of nowhere they're probably okay

but in terms of this school all i have all i've ever had

is you and the thought of losing you

i couldn't bear it you're all i have oh you're breaking my heart

what do you know what do you know about losing someone

You know nothing because you don't have anything wrapped around your finger.

I was married and my husband was rich.

Then he decided to go off to battle and get himself killed.

Killed?

What would drive a man who has everything to go for broke in some

desert?

No, love is a lie.

You should have put him on that elevator.

You need to drink something.

What's the use?

I mean, seriously, do you think we're ever going to get out of this?

We could if we tried.

Can I tell you something, Dan?

Shoot.

I know what's going on.

What's really going on.

I know why everyone's acting this way.

Why's that?

Close your eyes.

Alright, you know that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach?

You want to know why all the emergency power's out?

Why all of our cell phones aren't working?

We've been hit.

The United States has been nuked.

That's why everything is this way.

And the radiation... The radiation... Even this water's bad.

That's paranoid, Kev.

And if you stay out here in the sun, it's going to do you in. Let it.

I'm not afraid of death.

I'm afraid of that water.

Hey, Kev.

Kev! God, Kev!

I'm glad you weren't afraid, buddy.

Oh, God.

Oh, my.

How did that happen? You know the rules, Dan.

What? What?

No, not Dan.

Not Dan.

What are we going to do when he's gone?

Oh, God, it burns.

Well, I know what we're not going to do. We're not going to die while he's here,

that's for sure.

It's up to you.

You've got to keep these people safe, like I tried to.

And whatever you do, survive.

What are we supposed to do?

If we stay here any longer, we're next.

Yeah.

I mean, if they got Dan, I mean... We're not going to stay here.

What are you trying to say, Todd?

I got a plan to get out of here.

Well, don't they need to hear it?

You need to trust me on this one. I was your husband's best friend, and the less

people that know about this, the better off we are from getting out of here.

Where is everyone?

They took off down the stairs.

You didn't go with them?

I wasn't going to leave you. Not again.

Do you know what that means?

What? More water for us.

Wow. They really learned what it meant to live that phrase, didn't they?

Survival of the fittest.

Next up, Lifeline.

What would you do if you were ziplining for fun, and you look down, and there's

frickin' zombies?

Bet you'd hold on for dear life.

Everybody will look below and wave to our talented photographer, Damien.

Hey, Damien.

What the hell?

Is this some kind of prank?

No, it's not. I have no idea what's going on.

Look, I want to get down from here, okay? I didn't come this far to be toyed

with. Listen, I know you see what I see down there, but I recommend you stay out

of the way.

Yeah, but we can't stay up here, man.

There's no food, there's no water, we have nothing.

But we've made it this far.

Yeah, no turning back now. Speak for yourself, mate.

I wouldn't recommend you go down there.

Why should I listen to what you recommend, man?

You're just some hippie that followed us up here all stoned out of his mind.

Hey, Joe, slow your roll, man.

No, it's Cooley.

He's obviously got something to say.

Yeah, I don't buy it.

I read the rules. You guys charge $10 a foot to come get us up here. That means

we're going to have to pay off the ass if we win a rescue mission.

So, no, I don't believe there's some zombie apocalypse.

I don't buy it.

Listen, sports, we're not tripping.

What you see down there is real. It's real danger, all right?

Now, I've got to get you out of it. So you got to trust me and let me do my

job. Your job?

You're not going to have a job when I get down from here, man.

I'm getting out of here.

Okay. No, you don't.

Hey, just calm down. I didn't mean any harm. I'm just trying to get down here.

All I know is that animals can sense fear.

If we give them any reason to think that we're afraid up here, they're going to

come get us. That's all I know. So we have to remain calm.

Alright guys, I'm gonna lay low for a bit. It's the heat of the day.

So get you something to drink. I don't want all of you dehydrated.

Oh yeah, yes sir master. Thank you very much master.

Come on man, he's just trying to help out.

You keep saying that, that he's just trying to help out. Well that's fine and

dandy and all, but it doesn't change the fact that we're in a helpless situation

that is completely out of our control.

That's the smartest thing you've said all day.

Who even are you, man? You just show up armed to the teeth with some big-ass

knife and start ordering people around.

Who are you? My name is Ivan Blocko.

Blocko, like the names of the tall building over there. That's my

grandfather that I was named after.

And I'll admit it. I'm nothing like him. I'm a despicable person. But that's who

I am.

He's that guy!

What guy?

He's the guy that killed the lion cub.

You asshole!

No, I'm a hunter.

There's a difference, believe it or not.

Wait, Mr.

Ivan, what are you doing here?

What's your name?

Lucas.

Erica.

Frank. Oh, I know who you are. I know your name. You were the one that took me

hunting off the Alcan Highway.

And the other poor guy, um... Webster.

Yeah, you let him die.

You let him dress up stupidly in black trash bags to dress like a black bear

and a grizzly bear charged over and ripped his head clean off.

Let the past be in the past, man.

No, no, no.

Now we know who you really are. Because that's what humans do.

Consume, consume, consume.

Speak for yourself.

Now, I consume my fair share of novels.

But I don't take advantage of people.

Neither do I.

Says the guy with the knife.

If those are truly flesh-eating zombies out there, we're going to have to bait

them. Slow them down long enough where we can escape.

Does anyone have a gun?

You're the only one with weapons here, man.

All we've got is our gear. You think we can just throw that at the zombies?

I have an idea.

What is it, Lion Slayer?

Are you going to...

threaten to put their heads up on a mantelpiece?

Are you gonna dress up like a zombie and go down there and act like that's some

sort of adequate form of camouflage?

Oh, I know, I know. The next thing that you're gonna do is- Alright,

we'll use this to bait them like breadcrumbs.

What's everyone freaking out about? It's not like I killed someone.

Let's sit.

He's about to zip over.

There's more of us than there are of him.

No, I agree. But what are we going to do?

I'm a bookworm, not a badass.

Well, I tell you what. I'll distract him and you guys get the blade.

That Pac-Man.

We have to get rid of him. He's too flashy.

He's a human being.

You can't just go ending us. We'll stop you.

Watch it, Lucas.

Who used that?

That was unfortunate.

You guys alright?

Yeah, okay.

Yeah? Well, let's zip.

Lucas, what are you doing here anyway?

Uh, alright.

I have an online dating profile, and I was wanting to beef it up.

And I'm not just going to put something down as an interest unless it's an

actual hobby of mine.

I want to put a bunch of BS on there. I'm not the type of person who wants to

lie, even on the internet.

I'm the type of person who's genuinely looking for a soulmate.

Aww.

Well, Chachi.

You can find her somewhere else. This one's taken.

Hey, don't speak for me, boy.

I know that's not what you were expecting for Lifeline.

Okay, next up, Reflex Action.

It's a film about a movie star and she's got this bodyguard. He's trying to

protect her from a bunch of zombies.

Did you have a nice flight?

What?

I asked, did you have a nice flight?

I'm really behind.

There was some kind of turbulence.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Are you ready for your show?

Maybe you didn't hear me.

I'm so really far behind.

I have to pay attention to my phone. I can't do two things at once.

I'm sorry. I'll leave you alone and just focus on driving to the Brandon

Amphitheater. Find a bathroom.

What? Find a bathroom. The plane had turbulence and I was scared to go to the

laboratory, so find a bathroom.

Fair enough.

I know just the place.

The show's not for another couple hours.

I need to go to the bathroom and I need a smoke.

I see this...

portable ashtray here in your car but don't want to stink up your lovely

vehicle so yeah i appreciate that we're heading to the bathroom now

This isn't your life.

This is just for today.

Don't give up on your hopes.

Don't give up on your dreams.

Stay golden.

No matter what anyone says or does, just stay golden.

Did you fall in?

No.

Hey man, you can't go in there. This isn't some liberal grocery store.

Use the one on the left.

Oh hell no, did you just try to bite me?

What? What's going on?

We gotta get out of here.

Something's not right. This dude just tried to bite me. Oh my gosh.

We gotta go.

There's more of them. We gotta get out of here.

Don't you have a gun or something?

It's in the car.

Look, you're a security guard. You're supposed to have your gun on you. I

don't think I needed it for a pee break.

Do your karate moves or something.

There's too many of them.

We got to get out of here. I'm staying here. I'm staying right here because I

have a concert coming up.

Go. Go to the tennis court. Go to the tennis court.

We got to get out of here.

This one has two.

We gotta go. Come on.

What do we do?

I don't know.

I don't know what's wrong with them.

What about the concert?

I don't think there's gonna be a concert tonight.

We gotta get out of here.

Gotta get down it.

We can't stay up here forever.

I know, but it's the best bet we have at staying alive.

So what do we do?

We stay up here until they swarm up to us.

Then when the coast is clear, we go back down to the car.

Doesn't sound like much of a plan.

It's the best we've got for now.

We wait.

I've been horrible to you.

What's your name?

Ben. I know who you are.

You do?

Yeah, my nine-year-old niece listens to your music.

Charlie Woo, right?

That's right, and that's great.

So why did you pick that name?

Well, my real name's Charlaine Wood, but I thought Woo sounded exciting, like,

woo, you know, happy.

Yeah, makes sense.

So Ben, do you have a last name?

Chaplin.

Ben Chaplin.

Sounds cool.

Yeah, my parents seem to think so.

How long have you been working in law enforcement?

About two or three years.

I was in law enforcement.

I just wanted to go private.

Less pressure, less expectations.

Something happen on the job?

Not to me.

My partner.

What happened?

We pulled over in a vehicle for an expired tag.

But what we didn't know is the driver was a mule for a drug lord.

He pulled out a gun and he shot my partner.

I'm sorry.

Yeah, me too.

He was a good guy. Did everything by the book.

I just hope that he's looking down on me and...

He's proud of what I'm doing today.

Well, no one goes through life miserable, so... Are you happy? Do you

think you're doing the right thing?

Yeah. Then I'm sure he's proud of you.

Yeah, I hope so.

What about you?

You're not traveling with a big entourage.

I'd rather travel alone, so I can meet people like you, for instance.

I'm not that great.

Well, you saved my life.

It's my job. It's what I get paid to do.

I figured it doesn't hurt if I'm a little nice to you as well.

So what made you want to be a singer?

Well, my mom was a lawyer and she played piano. And during the day, I just

taught myself how to play piano and sing. And I started writing music and

went from there.

Isn't writing a song a lot like writing a poem?

Yeah, it's a lot like writing a poem, actually.

Well, not to brag, but I actually got an award for writing a poem in middle

school. I think I actually have a few of my work somewhere.

Great. You should show me sometime.

Yeah, if I can find it. It's probably under the bed somewhere.

Hey, that's the best kind.

Yes, it is.

We gotta get out of here.

Look,

I'll find them all.

Go. Go. You gotta get out of here.

Still we gotta get out of here.

Get out of here. Go. No.

I can't leave you.

I've done my job. You're safe. Get out of here.

This is your job.

This is what you get paid to do.

You were supposed to protect her and you protected her.

She's safe.

She's safe.

You did your job.

life on the lawn for your job.

Couldn't be me.

Next up, and lastly, Dead of Night.

A very familiar story that starts in a graveyard.

They're coming to get you, Barbara.

Jeez,

look at you spook, sis.

Nothing. It was just a bad dream.

Was it about Grandpa?

Of course it was about Grandpa.

Told you you'd feel bad if you didn't see him.

You feel bad, don't you? I don't recall you going to visit him much either.

Not much me going to see him. I mean, the man was a true psychopath.

What was it he used to say again?

Oh, yeah.

They're coming to get you, Barbara.

That was funny.

Did I ever tell you that Mom told me what that was all about last year?

What? Who they were.

You mean like the monsters in the closet?

No, no, no. Mom told me that Grandpa went mad because of all the things that

he said and did during the war.

Like when he fought the Nazis?

Johnny, Grandpa isn't that old. Come on. I'm at Vietnam.

Mom said the first thing he told her when he got home was, they look like us.

They sound like us. But they're not.

They're not human.

They are the dead.

Gosh, like actual non-flashbacks.

He really was crazy.

Well, at least we weren't pussies.

Well, he definitely would have had the word paranoid in his diagnosis, but...

Yeah, I guess that's why I stopped visiting him after I left.

He always gave me the creeps.

Me too, sis.

Me too.

That's weird, I called ahead last week and Mr. Roos was supposed to be here for

us. He's probably so old he forgot.

Took three hours for nothing.

Uh, I'm sure he's just making the rooms.

What, making sure the dead stay put?

Well, it wouldn't hurt to check, right?

Yeah, I'm sure we can find him. We've been here before.

Let's just go look around.

I'm coming to get you, Barbara.

Johnny, stop that.

They're coming for you. Stop it!

Hey, look. There's one of them now.

Hey, can we get a little help over here?

Hey, what's going on, man?

Jody!

My hand from your mouth. But I need you to stay quiet, okay?

Please.

If you scream, they are going to be all over us.

A lot of you understand.

So I get my hand off your mouth.

What is going on?

I don't know.

I woke up this morning and the world went crazy.

It's like this all over town.

What do we do?

You have a car?

Uh, yeah, my brother Johnny has a car.

Brother Johnny. He never has a car.

Okay. Okay.

Yeah.

That's not happening.

Your brother is dead.

Don't go out there if you want to be dessert, okay?

This is not working.

He's gone.

I know.

I know how you feel.

I saw a couple of things this morning that turned to me in space.

I get it, sister.

But everything right now is fucked up, and we have got to get out of here.

Okay, well, what about you? Do you have a car?

My truck ran out of gas near here.

Okay.

There's a house near the cemetery over the hill. I think we can get there.

I don't know about that now.

I forget that we might end up getting stuck.

Well, isn't it better than being out here?

On that we agree.

Let's get out of here.

So, uh, we were never properly introduced.

What's your name?

Oh, I'm Barbara.

Bennett.

Bennett Short.

I suppose I owe you. Thank you, Ben.

For what?

I don't know.

Saved my life. Get me out of there.

I haven't seen that kind of action in a long time.

Me too.

Where'd you get the gun?

Always had it.

I've been using it for target practice, but now I gotta use it to stay alive.

Sparingly, of course.

Too much noise and I'll draw them in.

Yeah, what was that thing that attacked Johnny?

I don't know all the answers.

But I do know that we need to find us a house.

I only got a couple of bullets left, so we need to find some ammunition.

We've got remainders of a house.

Yeah, I see that.

What a shit show.

Damn.

There's a trucker in here we can look at, I guess.

Are you packing?

No. I'm a civilian now. School teacher, actually.

So you were with the soldiers?

Yeah. How'd you know?

Just tell.

That. You got with the program pretty quickly.

Light on your feet, and you got that thousand yards there.

Well, I saw my shirt done for my tour, but nothing like this.

Especially not against people in Halloween costumes.

Those aren't Halloween costumes.

What do you mean?

I mean, the dead walk the earth.

That's impossible.

Is it?

Well, uh, I see some houses over there.

Cars.

Maybe it's unlocked.

You know, we're in the country. We could...

I'll probably get away with breaking a few windows and doors if necessary.

How many people are there?

How about that?

You never know what may be behind that window or door.

Could be a 12 gauge pointing right at you.

Some chance.

Well, you're welcome to go ahead and look.

If they get to you, I'll be sure to admit you.

Oh, thank you so much. Oh, my pleasure.

Now let's get going.

Now that's a nice house.

Best one I've seen thus far.

What, you want to go see if it's locked and then try elsewhere?

Wouldn't hurt if you wanted to go knock.

Now what makes you think that someone with a 12-gauge won't shoot you through

the door?

Humans knock.

I don't think they'd shoot another person.

See there?

They're opening the door for us.

Oh, we shouldn't get any closer.

Barbara, get down!

Now, that wasn't very nice.

What you do that for?

Now, I know there's some confusing stuff going on out here, but I need to borrow

some bullets.

I got your bullets right here!

Why the hell are you shooting at me?

Because you're on my property!

Yeah, I know what's going on in the world. I got a TV.

I'm a man just like you, trying to survive.

Well, you can't go to the wrong place!

Hey, chicken shit!

Over here!

I got your chicken shit right here!

Good, Ben?

Yeah.

I got the bastard.

They're coming to get you, Barbara.

And there's nothing you can do. Like you did nothing to help your brother.

He's probably laying in a graveyard with somebody feasting on his face.

Eating his eyeballs.

Oh, yum, yum.

You can hide behind doors, behind windows. But they'll come through the

doors. They'll come through the windows. And there's nothing you can do.

Bob Bob Moran, they're gonna get you.

It's got you a little spooked.

Just a bad dream?

Hell, I thought she got a bad concussion the way you tripped over that guy.

Yeah, well, I guess I miscalculated my steps.

Pretty dark in here.

What is that sound?

Yeah, we're, uh, surrounded.

What about you? Are you okay?

Yeah, I'm good.

He beat me earlier, but I got that vest.

Thank God, because he had me in his sights.

Thanks for the diversion.

Yeah.

Do you think they're going to break through that window?

I thought about that myself, so I took it upon myself to check around.

And I thought about boarding up the window, but...

She's got a security glass.

Man's got it good around here.

Did you find any bullets?

Nah.

Only about half a box, but that'll help us a little bit, but not all of them.

How many points of entry do we have?

Front door, back door.

I tried looking at the garage, but it's bricked in.

I noticed that coming up the yard.

It's locked, too.

It's locked?

Yeah.

You're welcome to see if you can find a key.

If there's anything valuable in there.

I'm gonna go rest my eyes.

Well, what about the big guy?

What about him?

His friend went outside and my arm's not feeling too well, so I didn't feel like

driving him around, but he ain't going anywhere.

I certainly hope not.

So did you find any weapons?

Welcome to the Looker, son.

bingo

Ben.

Ben.

Ben!

Where's the big fella?

Where's the big fella?

Good job, Tomasino.

You went and shot the gun, and now those things are coming here.

I had to save him.

You didn't have to save anyone.

Because of you, you've sacrificed my life.

You've sacrificed my wife's life, you've sacrificed my daughter's life, your

girlfriend's, and your own.

It's the right thing to do.

There is no right or wrong now.

The world has gone to shit.

There is only dead or alive.

And you chose the second option.

Who the hell are you?

Well, who the hell are you two? I asked first.

Do I look like I give a shit about formalities? Who the hell are you, and

what the hell are you doing here? I'm Barbara, and this is Bennett, Ben for

short. We came here looking for bullets for his gun, and we just need a place to

stay. Oh, no, no. You can't stay here.

This is our spot.

There's more than enough room to go around, asshole.

Are you kidding me?

You just shot your uncle in the head who was trying to protect this house after

he became one of those thieves. After dying trying to defend this place from

intruders. That was his mistake.

We weren't trying to break into his place. We came here with an otter

branch.

That's what you call your little friend then.

By the way, drop it. Everybody needs to calm down.

What's your deal with that, Harry?

Don't hurt Tom.

Stay out of this, Judy.

Now Brent.

Ben. I don't care what your name is.

I'm the one that's in charge here. Whatever I say goes.

Hey, that's fine with me. I could care less about that.

As long as me, her, and everybody else gets out of here alive.

I'm perfectly fine with that.

It's my job.

I work for an insurance company.

I'm a risk analyst.

Risk analyst?

Alright, well what's the probability of this happening?

This what?

Oh, I don't know.

Dead coming back to life, trying to eat us. What's the bottom line on that?

There is something that you can just chalk up to being a force of nature.

You can't predict what's going to happen.

Harry! Can you let him go now, mister?

Yes, please let me go.

If you can have my gun, it makes me feel better.

What's wrong?

All this noise is scaring her.

Can you try to keep it down? What's going on in there?

Two people just wandered in from the other street. They're not those things,

are they?

I don't know.

I don't think so.

Well, then keep your voice down. She needs her rest to feel better.

Okay. I'll try.

Look, we're trying to figure out a plan to get out of here. Oh, yeah? And how's

that going so far?

We're trying to figure out how to get the truck outside, sir.

Well, there's some gas here in the garage, but do you think it'll run after

Uncle Reggie saw all those holes in it?

I don't know.

I mean, Tom's a pretty good mechanic.

Maybe he can get something.

Well, he can't go out there alone. He'll be ripped to shreds. He's not going to

go out there alone.

And he's going to get a new... No.

I'll get the new guy.

Oh, because y'all are getting along so well?

Daddy, is that you?

Yes, baby.

It's me.

Daddy, I don't feel too good.

It's going to be okay, baby.

Just get some rest and it'll be better.

We're going to get out of here.

Are we going to stay here forever?

No, we're not going to stay here forever.

We're going to figure out a plan to get out of here and go.

Don't get a wound, Daddy.

Baby, I love you.

She's just burning with fever.

I know.

We have to get her to the doctors and medicine suite.

You think there's still medicine and doctors out there?

There's one way to find out.

This just and we are receiving reports that homesteads are being attacked this

evening eyewitnesses are claiming to have been attacked by Is that correct

They're claiming to have been attacked by individuals believed to have been

deceased at this time We are uncertain as to the validity of these reports

Different reports are coming in from all over the country of a new virus that is

quickly spreading there are videos popping up all over the internet of the

dead coming back to life here's a friendly reminder from your local

sheriff about what to do in these situations we're going to be real real

careful we got to check everybody there's something going on in this town

and we don't need it i don't need to get it look don't let nobody near you don't

let nobody bite you stay away from everybody

If they keep coming at you and won't stop, you're going to have to shoot

them. Got to shoot them in the head, got to shoot them twice.

Whatever you got to do to stop them. We got to stop this.

Something mighty strange going on in this town.

And I have no idea. The sheriff, I'm going to find out.

I will find out. Some viral videos are from people who have first-hand

experience with the reanimated.

Here's a word from geneticist Caleb Walker.

Bye now.

you've heard about these attacks.

Stuff all over social media and weird theories and nobody knows what to

believe.

When I got the call the other day, I had to go to the university hospital.

They wanted me to inspect one of these attackers, but they wanted me to do a

genetic workup on whatever it is. These people are dead.

No circulatory function, no respiratory function.

Their hearts aren't working. Their lungs aren't working. If you can get out of

the cities, get out of the cities.

If you can't, then hold up. This could be the worst thing in human history.

Yeah, I'm coming.

Beware of some of the more radical viewpoints like this one from conspiracy

theorist Sam Brock, who seems to think a popular condiment has something to do

with the spread.

I told you this was going to happen.

i told you but nobody believed me nobody absolutely nobody believed me i told

you that they were gonna put a virus in the mayonnaise nobody believed me at all

nobody but i told you it was gonna be true and now the undead the undead

are walking the earth really are we sure about that I don't know. But the thing

is, this isn't real. This is fake. We know this is fake. And it's in the

Bible, and people have talked about it. We all know about the rapture. We all

know that at some point, things are going to change on this planet. Maybe

this is it. I don't know. I have no idea.

But I know that right now, our military out there is shooting actors.

They are not shooting the undead.

They are shooting actors.

Just go up and ask any one of them.

For some, these disturbing events signal the end of times.

Here's an interpretation from the popular televised minister, Reverend

Rush.

This is the end times.

This is the end of an era and the Lord is coming home.

Are you ready?

Because if not, You're going to spend eternity like the rich man did in hell.

Yes, that will be you.

You will open your eyes up in hell and you will realize that you are in hell.

Begging for a drop of water.

Do you want to be that person?

Because there's a lot of people going.

In these dangerous times.

The right to bear arms is becoming a necessity for home security.

Here's an emotional outpouring from a local firearms enthusiast. I just can't

live with the thought that somebody's going to come to my house, bust in the

door. That's just not right.

I'm supposed to just give up, let them kill me, and I'm the type of woman that

I was not raised that way.

I'm not going to take it laying down. I'm a Southern woman. I was Southern

born and raised, and I will not let them do that to me. The more that I talk

about it, the more angrier that I get that you could do something like that to

me or any other Southern person that holds a gun in their hand to protect

their family.

We welcome you into another Channel 15 Breaking News Alert.

The CDC has confirmed the attacks on homesteaders were perpetrated by

deceased individuals.

The governor is declaring a state of emergency and is advising everyone to

board up your windows, barricade your doors, and arm yourselves.

At this time, it is unknown how the deceased individuals found themselves

reanimated. We will stay with you.

with continuous coverage.

Our broadcast is being interrupted by a pirate signal.

It's about to break through.

Hey, I'm only going to be hijacking the signal for a good minute, okay? So

please let me say my piece and then you can go back to your little world of

mainstream news and lies, okay?

Look, the only thing that's true out there that all of these peddlers are

telling you is that the dead are coming back to life. And yes, they are eating

people. And yes, the only way to kill them is to shoot them in the fucking

head, okay? You have to understand something very important.

There is no way out of this. There is no way to solve this. There's no lab with a

radioactive leak. There's no space probe from Venus. It's not even an

intervention. from god it just is it's a force of nature it is the very earth

itself rebelling against us all right for all of our sins against it okay

mother gaia is pissed and she's turning the dead into creatures that get up and

kill and the people they kill get up and kill and it never ends it is one perfect

cycle and it is how we are all going to go so what i'm telling you please do not

believe the lies that you are safe you are not safe the only thing you have

left is the few moments you have left to be alive So please cherish them and do

not for one moment think that this is all gonna go away

Did you think you would end like this?

Like how?

You know, I mean, people have, you know, different beliefs and belief

structures. Well, what's yours?

You know, I just thought just something legendary would happen.

What do you mean by legendary?

I don't know, like, okay.

An asteroid will, like,

hit the earth and just hit this major fault line.

This giant monster comes up from deep and just destroys everything, city to

city. Starting with Tokyo, right?

Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, you catch my drift.

We're on the same page.

What about you?

When I got home, I had to

Get past a lot of my PTSD.

What branch?

Army. Yeah.

Same.

Yeah, you see so many crazy things that you would

never imagine happening so close to home.

And then one day you wake up, you drive three hours to see your grandfather's

grave, and then it's happening to you.

To your brother.

How's your brother?

Yeah.

Johnny.

Would Johnny's life have been worth a bullet to you?

Yes.

It would have been worth a bullet.

What about me?

Is my life worth a bullet to you?

Seeing the people I shot at with you?

No.

I mean...

If I turn into one of those things, I don't want you to hesitate then.

I want you to prove it right in between my eyes because I don't want to hurt you

or anyone else in this house.

Hopefully it won't come to that, okay?

Hopefully me, you, and everyone in this godforsaken house will get out of here

alive.

Yeah, well, the guy you shot earlier is related to them, so I hope they don't

have a J.Department trying to avenge him.

Yeah, that's true.

Well, if they shoot me in the back, hopefully you'll avenge me if you're

still around.

I will do the best I can with my knife.

Maybe I can find some food to cut up.

Oh, wait, that's another problem.

There's no food here.

We cannot stay here.

I remember them talking earlier about trying to get the truck running.

Well, it's got so many bullet holes in it. I don't think it'll run.

Well, Tim's the mechanic.

Who's that?

The one you put in the choke hold earlier.

Oh, shit.

Well, um... I'll talk to him.

All right.

Good luck.

Let's see what I'm gonna need.

Have fun.

I'll try.

Hey, Tom.

Sorry about what happened earlier.

Oh, no. It's okay. I understand.

Thanks for not pulling the trigger on anyone, even though I know you wanted

to.

I heard you're a mechanic.

That's right.

You ever think about getting that truck out front going?

Well, there's enough gas in the garage probably to get to the next town.

Sounds like a good plan.

If Judy and I can get there without being noticed or those things, we should

be all right. Yeah.

I'd like to help.

I can get you guys some pepper fire.

That'd be great.

Well, what the hell are we waiting for?

Let's do it.

We're waiting on Harry to give the go-ahead.

He's really nervous about this operation. He's waiting to tell us what

to do.

What do we have to wait for him for? It's his daughter.

What's wrong with her? She got bit trying to get in here. He doesn't want

to move her.

She's just a little girl.

She needs some medical help.

Tell that to him.

I don't think I'm the guy to talk to Harry.

No, that's not gonna happen.

All I know is, is that we need to get that gas and we need to get the hell out

of here. I agree.

All right. Okay. So this is what we're going to do.

You two go out there.

I'll give you guys some cover fire.

You take my pistol, okay?

All right.

Then I'll use your rifle.

Is that right?

All right.

That sounds good.

We'll be back.

Y'all be safe. All right.

Going somewhere?

Yeah.

You missed the part where I said I was in charge.

Well, if you're in charge, why the hell are we still here?

Because it's the right thing to do.

You staying here isn't going to help your daughter out.

Don't you ever fucking talk about my daughter.

She stays here because I say so.

You stay here.

But we're using that truck and we're getting out of here.

You can come with us, but that's up to you.

You think you're so smart.

It's my vehicle.

Is it?

Yes. I have the keys.

Smile now.

Oh, my God.

I have a wife and child in here that needs to be watched. Yeah, because

they're in so much danger inside.

Yeah, that's what your friend thought. Being outside was better.

That's why I'm alive and he's dead.

Ben is being let back in. Do not open that door.

This door is opening because Ben saved my life.

You okay?

He just went into the garage. I stopped him.

I didn't mean to.

What the hell?

We gotta get out of here.

You all right?

Yeah, I'm fine.

What do we do now?

Wait till the morning.

It's easy to see them during the daytime.

You asked me earlier about what my beliefs were when I came to the end of

the world.

Then give me a straight answer.

I was raised very, very religiously.

Everything came back to the Bible, you know, the book of Revelation, stuff like

that.

Is that what you believe then?

That's what they believe.

My family, that is.

No.

I always thought that if the world was going to end, it was going to be with...

seraphim or cherubs or the dead coming back to life or a

monster crawling out from the middle of the earth and attacking Tokyo and

then... Hey, hey, hey, hey.

That'd be a great idea for a movie, okay?

That's why they got so many of them.

Mm-hmm.

No.

I always thought if the world was gonna end, it would just suddenly stop.

Like...

The earth has been turning and turning and turning and going and going and

going, and then one day you would just run out of batteries and just stop.

Just like that?

Just like that.

Wow. I don't know about you, but what I learned from that film, Dead of Night,

is to never trust anyone during a zombie apocalypse, especially little children.

Ugh.

Well, I'm Jenny DePata, out here at beautiful Royal Land in Meridian,

Mississippi, and that's a wrap. I hope you enjoyed Legends of the Undead.
