Episode 44

Prime Minister, your roots in the court,

how can others

move it so easily?

It's good that you understand.

Take this and complete the task for me.

This...

You should know what I want.

I want that demoness

to lose His Highness' child.

But Prime Minister...

Madam Murong has already been pregnant for six weeks.

Her child has been stabilized long ago!

I already knew. I don't need you to tell me this.

With your medical skills,

letting her child die in her womb,

it's an easy job, right?

This... His Highness has ordered...

Yes. His Highness has given the order to protect the baby.

- If not, he will take your life. - Yes.

But I don't agree with His Highness on this.

If the demoness gives birth to her child,

I will

kill your entire family.

Prime Minister!

His Highness is here.

Madam. -Hang on.

Madam, hang on.

Murong An.

- Madam. I'm in extreme pain.

Tang's Royal Physician. Why are you still standing here?

Are you waiting for me to cut your head?

Your Highness.

Perhaps, we can only save Madam.

I want to save both the baby and her.

If you can't save the baby,

I will kill all nine generations of your family!

Yes, Madam.

Madam, hang in there.

- Su Heng, I'm in extreme pain. - Madam!

What's the situation?

The Royal Physician tried to save the baby the whole of last night

but in the end, the baby still died.

His Highness seems to be very sad.

He didn't even go to court this morning.

It was such a healthy baby,

how could it be gone just like that?

Su Heng.

Where is our child?

How is our child?

We will have another child.

We definitely will have another.

No, I want our child.

Return our child to me.

I'm in great pain at losing the child too.

I'm in great pain as you too.

It's because of you.

If it weren't for you,

if it weren't for your position as the King,

If not for all this fighting for power,

how could this have happened?

How could we have lost our child?

Leave, just leave!

I don't want to see you.

Leave!

Your Highness.

Did you investigate it?

Your Highness is right. It was definitely the father and daughter.

Leave first.

I thought His Highness would do something to me.

Who would know that he's still the same as ever?

He still dotes on me.

Not necessarily.

What are you doing?

Use your life to return my child's life.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

You can't blame Madam Murong for this.

The Liu family should be killed for doing such shady and toxic acts.

I don't want to kill them.

But the Liu family holds the military power.

Go and look at those reports!

They were all written by people sent by Liu Wen.

If I don't punish Murong An,

he will use troops against me!

How could I let them control my family affairs?

How can they decide the matters of my country?

Then, what does Your Highness plans to do?

Let her stay in her palace for the next few months.

Don't let anyone in.

On the one hand, I won't aggravate her again.

Second.

I won't let anyone harm her again.

But Your Highness,

Madam Murong still has a misunderstanding with you.

She didn't misunderstood that

I couldn't protect her,

I'm her husband who couldn't protect her and her child.

She has the right to hate me.

- Madam, what's wrong? Call for the Royal Physician now.

- Yes. - Go now.

Your Highness. Madam Ching is here to see you.

Let her in.

Invite Madam Ching in.

Greetings, Your Highness.

What is it?

Your Highness. I'm pregnant.

Really?

That's great. Rely this.

I want to make Madam Jing as Madam Ru!

Also, announce this now!

I am sparing all the criminals of the world!

Yes.

Are you sure that Fang Zi is right?

Your Highness. Other than Madam Murong,

For the other concubines in the palace,

the daily tonics are personally decocted by me.

Every day, I would send someone to

deliver the medicines to the concubines' rooms.

If they didn't take it once or twice,

would they become pregnant?

If this medicine is used for a long time,

nothing will happen if it's taken every now and then.

unless...

Unless what?

Unless she is already pregnant when she first took the medicine.

It's just that

I dare not say it.

Speak.

On the first day that Madam Nangong was graced by Your Highness,

was personally decocted by me.

I would witness Madam Nangong taking it.

What you are saying is that

she was already pregnant before she entered the palace?

This... I dare not...

Liu Wen.

Your Highness.

Why are you also bare footed? Why don't you wear your shoes?

Why would I wear that?

The people in my Nine Lands wear shoes.

By the way, where is your home?

I will send you home later.

You don'r remember?

This is my home, the enchanted forest.

I was born here

and have never left here.

I must take you away from this place

and take you to Nine Lands.

I will take you to see the outside world.

Madam.

What are you doing, Madam?

Madam.

In the past, wherever I want to go,

the mountains and seas,

no one would stop me.

But today,

I can't leave here.

Madam. You haven't recovered yet.

Please don't scare me.

Don't worry, I'm fine.

Leave first.

I'm taking my leave.

It can't be that

you are calling for me?

Tree God, I'm coming.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

I'm feeling a bit dizzy.

I would like to take a rest. I will be back soon.

Let me go with you.

No need.

Stay here and watch the dance.

Dance for me later.

Murong.

Why is it you?

I have been keeping guard here.

I know that you will definitely miss the enchanted forest.

Thus, I have been waiting for you at Chen kingdom.

Enchanted forest?

Perhaps, I shouldn't have left Enchanted forest.

It's not too late now. I can take you back there.

No. I'm going back on my own.

Stop there!

Su Heng.

I have already experienced the love of a human

but what's left is a heartbreak.

I don't want to die here.

Please let me go.

Stop there!

Su Heng. You won't be able to keep her here.

You are not worthy of her at all.

It's not for you to say that.

Ye Yuanxuan. You will never be my match.

Murong.

Su Heng. When I'm with you,

you don't know how to treasure.

Since this is the case, just let me go.

Do you know that

I am forced to do all this?

I only have you in my heart.

Why can't you wait for me to get the throne first?

Why can't you wait for me to complete my plan?

You won't cut out your new desires and goals.

Su Heng. In my heart,

you have always been like this.

You will forever be ambitious.

You will always want to scale the highest heights. As for me,

I don't want to wait in that dark corner for you.

That is not the life of a mermaid.

Give me another chance.

Give me another hope, okay?

Your Highness. Madam had a risk of miscarriage.

Risk of miscarriage?

What do you mean?

Leave.

Su Heng. Are you saying that our child is still alive?

Our child is still alive?

This is our secret. Don't let anyone know.

If not, they will harm you again.

So, you used this method to protect me and my child?

You must take good care of yourself during this period.

In future, I will visit you secretly.

I won't let anyone know.

How could you treat the future Crown Prince of the Wei kingdom?

Unbind him now.

Su Heng, you don't need to pretend.

Are you trying to insult me by tieing me up this way?

Yuanxuan, how could you say this?

Since we last bade goodbyes at the enchanted forest, it has been a long time since we met.

I feel comforted seeing that you are safe.

If we weren't in this situation, I would have drinks with you

to celebrate our old friendship.

Cut the crap.

You clearly know that I wanted to take Murong away from here. Why would you let me off that easily?

You are still the same. You can still joke.

Don't you know that Murong An is my wife?

Who are you to just take her away?

Didn't you think that

this will affect our countries' long held friendship.

Friendly relationship through the generations?

Ever since you injured me in the enchanted forest,

I have never regarded you as my friend.

Our countries were not friends anymore either!

What you mean is that

I don't need to care about our friendship from the past?

I am caught by you today.

Kill me if you want.

I won't kill you. Not only I won't kill you,

I will even let you go.

What do you mean?

I know that you are infatuated with my wife.

I also know that you are not angry over

why Murong insisted on falling in love with me.

Isn't that so?

Okay, let me tell you then.

For love, you didn't even care about your country's stability.

For one selfish wish, you tried to kidnap my wife.

And let the people of both countries get stuck between such a stupid fight.

Using innocents' lives as a price for your stubborness!

You cannot compare to me both in morality or as a king!

Do you think Murong will look up to such a person like you?

You...

Su Heng. There is something you are inferior to me.

My love for Murong is sincere. I'm not using her.

I can give up my position as the king for her love. As for you,

can you do that? If you can,

why would Murong wants to leave here?

This is between her and me. I don't need you to butt in.

I can release you now but before I do,

I need to give you a small punishment.

If not, you will never remember this.

What are you trying to do?

Take him out.

Su Heng. What are you trying to do?

Let me go.

Let's go now.

Go.

Leave now.

Kneel down.

Brother, I didn't think that that outfit would suit you so well!

Get up. Get lost.

Su Heng, it is impossible for us to live underneath the same sky.

Madam, come out for more exercises and take in the sunshine.

It will be good for the child in your belly.

Of course, I know that but it's very dangerous out there.

There are so many bodyguards in the inner palace. How could it be dangerous?

The inner palace is the most dangerous place in this world.

It looks beautiful,

but knives are hidden within the sunlight.

Are you sure that Madam Liu is not in the palace today?

I already checked. Madam Liu has gone to the temple to pray.

She won't be back in an hour.

I don't have to worry then.

What don't you have to worry about? Are you hoping that you won't be able to see me forever?

Good morning, sister. I'm not good with words, and they didn't reflect my true thoughts.

I meant that since older sister is going to pray, the Heavens will surely take care of such an important person.

That's why I was not worried.

Such an artful person.

No wonder I was made a fool so easily.

I dare not be so presumptuous in front of Madam.

I will do whatever you say.

Is that so? It just happens that I'm very bored today.

Dance for me then.

But I'm already pregnant with a child.

I'm afraid this may not be convenient.

You still dare to disobey me?

I wouldn't dare. It's just that I'm pregnant with His Highness's child,

what if I lose it?

His Highness' child? You're sneering at me.

Are you implying that I'm barren and you are better than me?

I didn't mean this.

Slap her mouth.

No, let her slap herself.

You are still not doing it?

Frankly, I have seen lot of incidents of slapping oneself. I'm tired of seeing this.

Let's play something new today.

Madam, what would you like to play?

Come. Bring the medicine I prepared.

Yes.

Come. Drink this and I will let you off today.

This is...

Of course, it's good for you and the child in your belly.

Sister. This is His Highness' bloodline.

The more you keep saying this, the more I won't let you off.

Force her drink it.

I won't drink it.

In this palace, if I'm not pregnant yet,

don't even think of it.

Nangong Qing. You must remember how you first got into the palace.

You should also remember why are you here in the palace.

Don't think that just because you are pregnant, you are no longer a low and despicable person.

Let me tell you. As long as I'm still here,

don't think of getting away from my hold.

Did you mark this down?

Enough, Ping Er. We have been out for quite a while. I'm feeling rather tired.

Let's go back first.

Madam, are you okay?

By the way, remember to let His Highness knows that

Nangong Qing was careless and fell down.

She had a miscarriage.

Yes, Madam.

Madam, what's wrong?

Madam, are you okay?

Madam.

Madam, are you okay?

Madam.

Fortunately, the Royal Physician came on time

and saved my child.

Liu Xinci. I will never let you off.

These flowers have bloomed beautifully. Accompany me for a walk.

Yes.

Nangong Qing?

What's wrong? Thinking of leaving when you see me?

I saw Sister.

I know that I made you angry a few days ago.

I thought that I should stay away for a while, in case I disturbed you.

It's good that you know.

Stay here obediently.

Don't go out and embarrassed yourself.

I have something which I'm not sure if I should say.

What do you want to say?

You can leave first.

I know that I can rely on you and the Prime Minister when I'm in the palace.

Today, I especially came here to wait for you, elder sister.

What are you trying to say?

His Highness found out that I miscarried that day.

- He was furious. - You told him?

I haven't finished talking yet.

Of course, I wouldn't dare to tell His Highness that the fetus in my belly

was miscarried because of your medicine.

But when His Highness heard about it, he was very sure that you caused it.

There are rumours too that he is not happy with the Prime Minister too.

Thus, please tell the Prime Minister to be careful.

Are you saying that His Highness will take action on my father?

Why should I believe you?

You should be hating me.

Wouldn't I know this?

You have misunderstood.

I am indeed distressed about my lost child.

Yet I also know that in this palace, only the Prime Minister and you

can protect my future.

His Highness loves only that demoness, Murong An.

If I want to remain in the palace,

I need to be loyal to you and the Prime Minister.

Are you telling the truth?

Within the course of time,

you will know whose side I am on.

Nangong Qing even said that

Su Heng has secretly made plans with some of the generals in court.

It seems like he plans to conquer Wei kingdom.

Since this is the case, we should take action first.

Father, what do you plan to do?

As long as we moved Su Heng's cavalry,

We will take control of the entire army,

and head directly towards the Palace.

Madam.

Madam, what's wrong?

Do you want to see the Royal Physician?

No. You are not allowed to tell anyone. Understand?

Madam.

Madam.

Madam, are you okay?

- Your Highness. - Rise.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Is the fetus in your belly okay?

Thank you for your concern. My fetus is fine.

I heard that Madam Liu forced you to abort the baby by drinking herbal medicine.

There was no such thing.

Don't be afraid. I'm here. Tell me the truth.

A few days ago, I definitely met Sister in the garden.

Elder sister was kind, and gave me a bowl of bird's nest soup.

Then I caught a slight cold after returning to my palace.

It had nothing to do with elder sister, and she didn't give any abortive medicine.

It must be some unkind people trying to sabotage our relationship.

Your Highness, please investigate this.

Is that so?

There is no mistake. Elder sister is warm and caring.

How could she do something so evil?

Besides, this child is Your Highness'. Who would dare hurt it?

Your Highness. Please don't listen to rumours.

If this is the case, I don't have to worry then.

I have ordered the Royal Physician to take care of your health.

Don't worry then.

Your Highness. I would like to ask for a favour.

I haven't been sleeping well for the past few nights.

I was worried about the fetus.

The weather is nice today. I was thinking of going to the temple to pray

to the God of Nine Lands to protect the fetus.

Fine, I will make the arrangements for you.

The road is bumpy - I would like to borrow Your Highness' oriental horses to pull my carriage.

- This will be the safest. - Fine.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Go and get ready now.

Madam. You are leaving the palace? I will make the arrangements.

No need.

His Highess' carriage can only fit one person.

I only need one person to drive the carriage. You don't need to go with me.

- But... - Are you listening to me?

Yes.

Madam, the royal physician is here to feel your pulse.

Royal Physician? Another Royal Physician?

I've changed the royal physician multiple times, and every one of them says their medical skills are of a high standard.

Yet I'm still not pregnant.

I'm still barren now.

Sir Zhichuan came today.

Sir Zhichuan?

- That's right. - That miracle physician?

Didn't he go travelling around the seven kingdoms?

It so happened that he came to the Chen kingdom.

The Prime Minister has always been seeking physicians to help Madam conceive.

How could we let him go?

Invite him here now.

What are you thinking of?

Nothing. It wasn't easy for me to think of a way to leave the palace.

Don't worry. You are not insignificant in Su Heng's eyes.

What's wrong? Not happy?

I already don't care about whether Su Heng cares about me or not.

I only care about the child in my belly now.

As long as the God of Nine Lands can protect him,

the rest are not important.

My impression is that it's our child.

Yes, it's our child

but this child is just a revenge tool for you.

You want him to be the Crown Prince.

You want him to the king of Chen kingdom.

You want to tell Su Heng about this before his death

that the person sitting on the king's seat is actually your child.

This is your motive for sending me to the palace.

For the final suffering, you must guard this secret.

Did Su Heng suspect anything?

No, he didn't.

Before I left the palace, he even rushed to tell me that

he wanted to protect me. What a joke.

There has never been a king on earth who could protect his own woman.

Entering the palace

is just like a complex forest.

There are wild beasts everywhere, always thinking of ripping me into pieces.

Don't worry. I'm here today

to tell you what to do next.

What else can I do except to be extra careful and shut myself in.

No. You can do as you please in the Palace.

Do whatever you want. Eat whatever you like.

- What about Madam Liu? - Starting from today,

Liu Xinci will be your protector.

I already bribed a miracle physician to make Xinci believe that

the child in your belly will bring her good luck.

It will also allow her to be pregnant. Thus, starting from today, you don't have to be afraid anymore.

Liu Xinci will be more anxious about this child than you.

Your Highness. The Kingdom of Tang is too arrogant.

She is even late for your meeting with you.

I can't help it if the Kingdom of Tang is three times stronger than Chen.

Let's just wait then.

The Princess of Tang has arrived.

Let her enter.

Greetings, Your Highness.

You may drop the formalities. GIve her a seat.

Please advise if I could become pregnant.

Madam, don't worry too much. You are in excellent health.

And at the prime age. From your pulse,

You are capable of bearing a child.

But why am I still not pregnant?

The relationship between a mother and child is extremely marvellous.

Apart from medicine,

there is still fate. If fate hasn't arrived,

the children won't come either.

Sir. Do you have a solution for this date to arrive earlier?

Well...

there is a form of black magic you can try.

Tell me.

You would have to adopt a child first.

Your own child will then arrive later.

This method is extremely popular in Minnan (present day Fujian).

It's also effective

However, there are distinct qualities that the mother must possess.

She needs to born on the Double Ninth (9th day of the 9th lunar month) of the Lunar year.

Her child will bring luck to you.

Madam. Nangong Qing was born on Double Ninth.

Really?

There is such a person born on this date in the palace?

Yes. She is Nangong Qing and she just so happens to be pregnant.

Congratulations, Madam.

This lucky child was given to Madam by the Heavens.

Madam. Fortunately, Nangong Qing hasn't lost her baby.

Her child's life is that great.

So, this child has a destiny with me.

Madam, you are back.

Sit down.

Where are all these from?

Madam Liu sent them.

There are silks and satins, jewels and nutritious tonics.

There are 250 grams of red cubilose in there as well.

I remember now.

You were the one who fed me the medicine that day.

Last time I forced you to drink the abortive medicine.

I won't dare to do this again.

Madam Liu said that if anything were to happen to your child,

I will die. I will take good care of you.

Continue to slap yourself. Why did you stop?

You almost harmed the child in my belly.

Do you think that I will left you off just because you said a few nice words to me?

If I don't say anything, you are not allowed to stop.

Liu Xinci. Everything that you have given me,

I will return double to you.

Your Highness.

So how?

It has been done. Your secret letter has been sent out.

It will reach the King of the Tang kingdom within three days.

As long as the King of Tang is willing to lend a hand,

and block the Liu army from advancing,

Liu Wen will not be able to rebel in Wulei City.

We hope that the King of the Tang kingdom will give Your Highness face.

He was willing to let his favourite grand daughter to come to the Chen kingdom.

He wants to strengthen the pact between kingdoms through a political marriage.

Isn't this obvious?

But will General Mu Yan agree?

I'm the King. He is a royal subject. He needs to agree.

To add further, with such a marriage,

wouldn't everyone be happy if they find out?

Other than...

Your Highness.

One person will become an obstruction.

Who is that?

Move aside.

Move aside.

Stop there. Move aside.

What has happened?

His Highess has said

that servants of the General poisoned Princess Deqing of Tang, and has ordered us to arrest the culprit.

Let's go. Move aside.

Let me notify the General first.

Your Highness.

You are here just in time. I was wondering

who would play chess with me.

I didn't think you would be here. Sit.

I already guessed that Your Highness would want to see me.

Are you here because of that wench in your mansion?

Your Highness. Why are you doing this?

She tried to harm Princess Deqing. Doesn't she deserve to die?

We can't be sure that the tea is poisoned.

If the killer was her, would she be so stupid as to personally give it to Princess Deqing?

It's not that I didn't think about this

but Tang kingdom needs an explanation now.

I need to hand over a killer

She is only just a servant. Why would you care?

By sending an innocent person to death,

this is just a minor thing to Your Highness.

If you were thinking about the kingdom,

then it is an unimportant highness.

Couldn't it be a citizen of Your Highness?

Surely protecting the people is also Your Highness' responsibility?

The Kingdom of Tang is strong.

Their military strength is already three times of ours.

If we enter a war, the people will plunge into suffering.

Not only one or two person will die.

Using a wench's life to save the ten of thousands lives of the people,

this is what a King should decide.

Your Highness.

Did you punish Jun Fu just because of this reason?

Since you understand, I will get straight to the point.

If you didn't come to seek a favour for her, she would have been fine.

The most, she would have been tied up for a few days and released later

However, you are now coming to question my decision.

And even contradicted your King.

Mu Yan. Is she really your servant?
