Tell me the story,

Mr. Jiao.

(Graduation Photo of Jiangzhou University Law Department Class of 2018)

(Five years ago, Jiangzhou)

Luo, where are you?

I'm here.

Thanks.

Ms. Weng.

(Honey)

(Honey)

The next day,

she arrived

at the firm before me.

She wanted a divorce,

suspecting

her husband had a secret kid.

But he was good at pretending.

He was a perfect husband

to friends and family.

He was witty, charming, and easygoing.

Meanwhile, her mental state

was deteriorating,

and her family kept nagging her

about carelessness and forgetfulness.

Weng Xin didn't forget.

Han Guang set her up, right?

I didn't realize it then,

but looking back,

he likely did.

She was methodical.

She bought a new phone

and got a new number

to make sure our contact

stayed completely undetected.

And then?

That was the end.

I was preparing the paperwork.

The day before,

she happily told me

she'd asked for a divorce

and could be free.

But a few days later...

(Five years ago, Jiangzhou)

(Weng Xin: Location Sent)

I still don't know

what happened that night.

She was terrified

and asked for help.

Still, I didn't give up.

I kept trying to reach her.

Sometimes,

she sent me

cryptic messages.

I tried to guess,

but I failed.

Did you look for her in her place later?

Sure.

I even called the police,

but she was at home,

not missing. No case filed.

All I could do was

keeping calling her.

Then one day...

Hello, Ms. Weng?

I finally got through to you.

This is Han Guang, Weng Xin's husband.

Who is this?

From that moment on,

I knew

I'd never reach Weng Xin again.

That's why you

placed a claw machine here?

I wanted to remind myself

that no matter how big

my wins are,

an open case

is still hanging over my head.

I couldn't let it go.

After that,

I handled rich girls' divorces

from their live-in husbands,

doing my best

to get close to her circle.

And then...

Hearing that,

I get to understand.

Honey.

Yes?

Say hi to the fans.

See?

This is our company building.

(Lucky Beauty Yu)

So back at the bar,

you already knew who I was.

Yes.

So this was all planned

from the very beginning.

Exactly.

That day we flew kites

with Chestnut.

When I pointed Weng Xin out,

why not say

you knew her?

I couldn't see her like that.

And I wanted

to stay objective

and gather unbiased facts.

You could have

just told me.

Why keep it from me?

Back then, our focus

wasn't on Han Guang.

Telling you

would've distracted you.

Han Guang and Weng Xin

are involved now,

and it helps the case.

I was ready to tell you.

I just hadn't

got the right time.

Jiao Xu,

we've spent tons of time

together lately.

If you wanted,

you could've done it anytime.

Also, if you'd told me

about her,

I could have helped you.

By keeping quiet,

we missed

so many chances

to help her.

I could have

taken the wrong path

and made things

even worse for all of us.

Is that what you wanted,

Mr. Jiao?

I'm sorry.

I didn't think it through.

But I didn't deceive you.

Not deceiving me?

The truth is,

you just don't trust me.

It's a sore spot for me.

Honestly,

I'm disappointed in myself,

and opening up about it

took time.

That's still a lack of trust.

Like what you

told your client earlier,

a lawsuit

takes mutual trust.

It's a two-way choice

between client and attorney.

I used to

trust you 100 percent.

Now,

I need to reconsider

whether to keep you

as my divorce attorney.

(Attorney Information)

(Go, Princess!)

(Financial Info)

(Call Duration)

(Yu Meng)

Zi,

break this down.

Shouldn't he

apologize to me?

(You)

He should.

But if you don't let go of me,

I'll have to apologize to the guests.

Sorry.

How's your new job?

Tiring?

Why are you here?

You always forget

you can't get rid of me.

Haoyu has a flash drive

that he copied

from Jiao Xu.

It has our transfer records.

He definitely carries it with him.

Find a way to check out.

I need to know

what they have on us,

so I can fix it.

What?

Food on my face?

How time flies.

You've grown up so much!

My bubble tea is here.

Go pick it up.

Bubble tea?

Since when

do you drink bubble tea?

I saw you post about it.

I want to try it.

Okay, I'll go get it.

Hello?

Mom.

Where's the delivery guy?

I don't see him.

Wait a moment.

He said he's almost there.

Okay.

(Dad, I'm sorry.)

(I didn't check Mr. Jiao's computer.)

(You must know)

(that even if I)

(wiped his hard drive,)

(he'd still)

(have backups.)

(It would all be pointless.)

(I didn't mean to lie.)

(Since I came back,)

(I've realized)

(you're not the same.)

(Not like the dad I remember.)

(Don't get me wrong.)

(I mean,)

(you look sharper and younger,)

(but you also look a bit strange)

(to me.)

(Still,)

(you're my dad.)

(I don't know how much you took,)

(but I can give you)

(all my money.)

(Please pay Meng back)

(and just let it all go.)

(Please?)

(I don't want you in prison.)

(I'm an adult now.)

(I can earn money)

(and get student loans.)

(Our lives won't change.)

(When I was little,)

(you snuck me out for skewers,)

(hiding it from Mom.)

(Let's fix it together)

(this time.)

(Don't let Mom know.)

(Please.)

Bubble tea is here!

I ordered two flavors.

Pick what you like.

Either's fine.

You first.

Stop always putting others first,

including me.

Everyone can

take care of themselves.

You just

focus on yourself.

Got it?

I got it.

Then...

I'll take this one.

Here.

Mom,

hasn't it been a while

since we ate with Dad?

I saw him the other day.

He said

we could have a meal

together soon.

Sure.

(Found flash drive?)

(No.)

(He didn't bring it.)

(At 2 PM,)

(see you at wellness center's parking lot.)

I'll take you inside today,

so you can

talk to Weng Xin.

Didn't you say before

it was too risky?

Without the money,

Liren won't get your shares.

Who knows what he'd do

on impulse?

We should take some risks

and resolve this quickly.

I thought you'd come

with Jiao Xu.

I think

coming alone

draws less attention.

Weng Xin,

do you remember me?

I do.

I came today

to bring you a book.

Weng Yue said

it was your favorite.

It inspired you

to become a lawyer.

Remember?

(Rage of Angels)

My memory is awful,

and I read really slowly.

Are you sure you want

to lend it to me?

Of course.

This book is a gift for you.

Thank you.

Weng Xin,

all good

here?

Yeah.

I'll come visit you again

in a few days.

Weng Xin,

where does your son

go to school?

New York.

New York?

Are you sure?

Yes.

New York.

It's New York.

It's definitely New York.

Weng Xin, I believe you.

I believe you.

I believe you.

I really do.

Hello?

Come out, hurry!

Han Guang is here.

Visiting Xin again?

How is she today?

Pretty good.

She had a visitor today.

Han Guang.

Wait, Han Guang.

Why are you here?

I brought Xin something.

They're in the trunk.

Can you help me get them?

They're too heavy

for me.

Weng Yue stalled him

for now.

Guest restroom is up ahead.

Go wait inside.

I'll fix the visitor log.

Wait.

Ms. Hui,

I just

had an idea.

How come there's a visitor?

Didn't I make it clear

no outsiders are allowed

to visit her?

I don't know.

It was me.

Ms. Yu? What are you doing here?

I came to see you.

See me?

What an honor.

You came all this way

just to see me?

What is it?

About my divorce

from Di Liren,

I'm sure you already heard.

You

leaked that news yourself, right?

To stop him from using the Yu name

to raise funds,

borrow money,

and come after your shares.

Exactly.

So I want to work with you

and cut him off completely.

Why should I help you?

You'll help us.

Why are you here?

The two of you...

Does Di Liren know?

Why ruin

such a nice surprise

this early?

Mr. Han,

I'll do the math for you.

Though you hold more shares

than Di Liren,

if he takes my 25 percent

of the shares,

and assumes the role

of Chairman,

you will be

in a tough spot at Jiali.

For instance,

he'd reject any candidates

you put forward, no doubt.

This tug-of-war

will only waste precious time.

If I push him out

and leave you at Jiali,

I'll still be stuck.

Don't tell me

you can't handle me, Mr. Han?

I'm not

that career-driven.

Drop the act.

You're much trickier than Di Liren.

Fine. Tell me.

If I help you,

what's in it for me?

Nothing.

Wait.

There is one huge benefit.

The two of us

will keep a big secret safe

for you.

Who would've thought

that someone as meticulous

as Mr. Han would

stash his own son

in New York,

using business trips as cover

every time to visit him?

Convenient and safe, isn't it?

What nonsense.

Did we not make it clear?

Do you need more details?

But these rooms

aren't very soundproof.

You think this gives you leverage

over me?

Of course not.

Consider it an appetizer,

like taking someone out to dinner.

You serve the bread first,

and then the main courses follow.

Could it be that you're eager

for what

comes next, Mr. Han?

I understand

why you want Di Liren out,

Ms. Yu.

What about you?

Why are you getting involved?

I need a favor of you

as well.

You scared me.

If you have no guilty conscience,

why panic?

My biggest guilty conscience

is upsetting my client,

Ms. Yu.

Are you done being mad?

Not your business.

Then why did you come looking for me

all of a sudden?

You're my lawyer.

You work for me.

That's a relief.

I thought

you would fire me.

I visited the wellness center

and ran into Han Guang.

He was visiting Weng Xin.

Since hiding

might've exposed me anyway,

Lu Hui and I just

confronted him directly.

We reached a deal.

He won't help Di Liren

frame Lu Hui and me,

and in return,

we won't tell the Weng family

about his illegitimate child

abroad.

You found actual proof

about this child?

Not yet.

All is fair in war,

especially when

fixing a sly guy like Han Guang.

I suspect

he thinks Weng Xin has lost her mind,

so he talks explicitly

in front of her.

She probably overheard bits

about the illegitimate child,

became confused,

and assumed the child was hers.

Actually,

you don't need to get involved.

Why not?

Aren't you the one who wanted to help her?

I mean

you just focus

on your own case.

I know

seeing her reminds you of yourself.

It scares you

that you nearly

ended up like her.

But

until we

get proof against Han Guang,

neither of us can help her.

So for now,

let me fix your problems first.

Hello?
