to be a concert in Lark Rise

in honour of Our Squire,
the whole hamlet

was buzzing with talk of what was
to be sung and who was to sing it.

But what should have been
a simple celebration

turned into a furious political quarrel.

To celebrate the anniversary

of Our Squire's family being our patrons

for 200 years,

we will sing.

Even those of you with
no voice and no ear.
