Last time, the twist of fate kept all the teams alive.
One of you escaped elimination this time.
So make it count, because next time
someone will be going home.
Now, the final four face off once more.
-[Jonathan B.] Bloodsuckers. -Just stay focused.
-[Anthony] Do what we do best. -[Jonathan B.] Howlers.
[Reva] Emotionally, it's survival of the fittest at this point.
-[Jonathan B.] Fright Squad. -[Elizabeth] There's high, high, high stakes here.
-[Jonathan B.] Team Ghoul'd. -I want to be
the first team that has won
"Halloween Wars" twice.
And the most jaw-dropping twist of the season.
[man, yelling] Whoa!
[Jonathan B.] We're about to find out who truly has what it takes
to make it all the way to the "Halloween Wars" finale.
-[screams] -[Andrew] Ah-gah-gah-gah!
[theme music plays]
Welcome to the "Halloween Wars" semifinals.
-Yeah, whoo! -[clapping]
-You all survived elimination in the last battle... -Mm-hmm.
...but that won't happen again.
One team will be going home today.
We are one episode away from the finale,
and that is so exciting.
There'll be two rounds.
And the first Quick Build round
comes with a valuable prize.
-Ooh. -Oh.
The winner of the Quick Build
is guaranteed a spot in the finale.
-Oh! -What?
-Let's go, baby. -Yes.
-Oh, my gosh. -[man] Yes.
Immunity?! Now that's a prize.
The Quick Build challenge --
create a baby Halloween monster
and pair them with their favorite toy.
You have just two hours.
-Oh. -[laughs]
Starting now.
-[overlapping speech] -Let's do this!
-Go, go, go! -All right.
We only have two hours to, like, impress the judges.
There's a lot riding on this piece.
-[Reva] Is that the perfect pumpkin? -[Tator] Yep.
[Reva] Awesome.
I mean, this literally is
to get a free pass into the finale.
This is stressful.
[howling]
Hope y'all are ready to hear it all day,
because it's coming at you.
I'm just letting you know.
So for this challenge, we're going to be doing
a baby vamp with his toy RC. But it's not just a toy RC car.
It's a monster-monster truck, baby.
Let's go.
Tator, I can't believe we're actually having pumpkin wheels
on this. I think that's crazy.
I'm going to be doing these giant monster truck wheels.
Just cutting out the center so that I can get a nice little...
Whoo-hoo!
...wheel, baby. Let's go.
So for this piece, I'm gonna be taking pumpkin,
cut a perfect seven-inch circle, shape around
the outside, and I'll be cutting individual tread pieces
out of pumpkin so that I can get that perfect formation
all the way around.
[Reva] This is the most important challenge we've ever done.
-I think so, too. -Yeah.
[Reva] You guys, I want to go straight to the finale.
Straight to the finale.
OK, that tire's ready.
It's the semifinals of "Halloween Wars,"
and whoever wins this Quick Build challenge will
automatically get a spot in the finals, no matter what
happens the rest of the day. -Those are high stakes.
Those are the highest stakes we've ever had.
-That's all we even care about at this point. -Yep.
I'm almost done painting the eye.
[Jonathan] For this piece, we are making a baby cyclops with
a little doll the baby will be taking the eyes out of.
After this is done, feel free, Jonathan, to go ahead and make
a lens for us. -Yeah, I got you.
[Elizabeth] You need one big, beautiful eye.
Fright Squad is coming in this round as the winners, right?
They've won. They're coming in on a high.
They're feeling that buzz because they've been not only
delivering us more color, but more humor.
Am I the model for the baby?
I always wanted to be a cyclops.
I think that them having that win
is what they needed to
really level it up this time.
They're a team to watch right now.
Elizabeth, I'm pouring the eye for you.
Thank you. Here is the eye.
Whenever you're ready, go ahead and put your lens on.
-Do I torch it? -Yes.
-Good size, no? -That's good, that's great. Thank you.
[Jonathan] For this giant cyclops, doing one solid piece of sugar
like that is very risky. It's very fragile.
It's ginormous.
And it's the focal point, literally, of our cyclops.
-Look at the eye. -[gasp]
-[Elizabeth] That's beautiful. -[Jonathan] I can't hold it up right now,
but when you hold it up, you'll see. -[Rebecca] I love it.
[Christophe] I'm going to be able to do only three batteries.
[Liz] OK.
[Christophe] This is gonna be the battery.
Our piece is going to be a baby Frankenstein who is
chewing on his favorite toy, which is, of course, a battery.
He's gonna get a little bit electrocuted, and it's going to
light up the bulbs on the side of his neck.
I am working on the baby monster's head.
Team Ghoul'd is making a baby Frankenstein
that is sucking on a battery.
[Andrew] Battery licking, but that's such
a genius concept.
Once again, so much humor, so much funny.
I love that they're bringing the funny this time.
-This is so great. -[Shinmin] And it's so simple.
It's just one battery, but you can tell, like,
that's how he's being galvanized to life,
you know, by that spark of battery.
I love it.
Nothing matters but this challenge right now.
[Anthony] Pretty good size for a hat.
For this piece, we are creating Baby Witch's
first voodoo doll for her to test
her incantations and hexes.
Plus, we're making a voodoo doll
with a green apron,
because if there was any opportunity to knock
one of the strongest teams off their game,
that's what we want to do.
My contributions to this piece are the witch hat as well as
the voodoo doll.
For the hat, I need to build it out of a couple
different pieces of pumpkin and squash.
Kind of looks like a pizza pie right now.
I could just -- whoo!
Whoo! [chuckles] Mama mia.
The Bloodsuckers have this little baby witch,
which you realize witches had to be babies at one point
because all baby witches have a mother.
Don't look at me when you say witch mother.
I'm just saying.
90 minutes left!
You have 90 minutes left!
The judges have often criticized us for not having
a lot of movement in our pieces.
So, I think that communicating that through the direction of
the hat, I think is going to be extremely important.
Last episode, we were in the bottom.
And I think that if someone were to be eliminated,
it would have been us.
So, today, we are out to prove that we deserve a spot.
This is the farthest I've ever made it,
and so to even be here with these amazing people,
Um...
that is incredibly intimidating.
Just stay focused. Do what we do best.
I've done my best up to this point,
and I just keep thinking
that my best is not good enough.
My anxiety is doubling up.
The stress of the competition,
the fear of elimination
is not an easy thing to deal with.
[Shinmin] That cute little witch hat
that Anthony's carving out of pumpkin,
it just, like, do you see all the --
-Oh, the shape of it is so good. -The shape, the creases.
I love the tip that just folds down.
It's got so much personality just in a hat.
-All right, guys, hat is done. -[Sabrina] Awesome.
-What do y'all think? -I really love it.
One hour. You have one hour left.
Oh, my gosh. One hour, one hour,
one hour, one hour. -Let's go, let's go.
[squealing]
To make sure he reads as Cyclops and not, like,
too much like a human baby,
I'm gonna do a different number of,
like, toes. -OK.
-[Rebecca] I like that idea. -[Elizabeth] I think we have
a really good chance of winning the finale spot
with our baby, because we're gonna have
those details that make it read baby.
Chubby, little toes.
I don't know if a lot of other people will consider
the characteristics that make it seem like an actual baby.
Team Ghoul'd, especially Liz,
she was like the master that I looked up to
when I first moved over here, and I would really,
really like to beat the master.
Everyone has worked so hard to be here.
It's stressful.
There's high, high, high stakes here.
[Jonathan] Those are chunky,
chunky, chunky. -[Elizabeth] They are.
30 minutes left. You've got 30.
-Come on, guys. -Come on, guys.
OK.
So I am creating
the jack-o'-lantern for the candy.
And now, as soon as it cools to the right temperature,
I'm going to cut that hole at the top...
in theory.
I'm going to be using a air pump and you pump
the air into it and it expands
and then hopefully it doesn't bust.
Oops, getting candy everywhere.
Ooh, dang it!
It broke as I was filling the candy.
Yeah, it all broke.
So that's where we're at right now.
Did it before. I'll do it again.
You have to be very calm about it.
Start over and keep going.
Inside, I might be freaking out,
you just don't see it.
It's littler, but it's cute.
Who wants to punch their ticket to
the final match? -[Anthony] We do, Jonathan.
-[Anthony] Come on, baby. -You only have 15 minutes left.
-[Jonathan] 15 minutes, ladies. -OK.
[Liz] You got to get these details dialed in.
-[Tator] Ready? -[Reva] Yeah.
Bam. Ay, yi, yi, yi, yi, papi.
-[Christophe] This looks [indistinct]. -Yeah, that's great.
-Is it going to be good? -Yeah, that's great. Perfect.
They didn't ask us to add any lights,
but because it's the semifinals,
I feel like we should push it a notch
by adding some lighting in the bulbs and in the mouth.
So it creates that effect of, like,
electricity really happening.
-[Mike] Is it on there? -[Liz] Good, yep.
Five minutes remain. Five minutes.
[Liz] Got to put his eyes in first.
He looks so funny.
Funny in a good way or bad way?
No, in a good way. He's like, "Ah."
-[Liz] Torch away, Christophe. -[Jonathan] Final push, ladies.
-Yep. -[Jonathan] We're almost to the end.
-[Elizabeth] Yep, there you go. -[Jonathan] We got to cover
the back a little bit. -[Rebecca] I got to be right here.
-Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. -Switch.
[Elizabeth] Oh, for crying out loud!
-We got this. -[Reva] Yeah, we got this.
[Tator] Finish strong, y'all.
This is like NASCAR.
[Reva] Pit crew. How's he going to attach?
-Just like that. -One minute left.
-[Anthony] All right. -Oh, my god!
-We can get it on the board. -You can do it, babe.
-[Anthony] Can I put the hat on now? -[Sabrina] Yes, please.
I'm very proud of my work, but at the same time,
I'm also very nervous because our witch
has less than a lot of the other pieces.
And I'm thinking, "Did we do enough?"
Come on, guys, push! Get a needle in the hand now.
[Cesar] Yes, sir.
Ten, nine, eight,
seven, six, five,
four, three, two, one.
[Jonathan B. & Andrew] Time's up.
-Whoo! -That's what I'm talking about.
-Yeah. -[howling]
There's just so much riding on this challenge,
but we made it through, and we did it as a team.
-[Cesar] Beautiful. -[Anthony] Thank you.
Wow.
Oh, cute.
I feel like Elizabeth's my biggest competitor,
so I always look at her stuff first.
Aww.
[Liz] Elizabeth's piece is very big,
like really big, and it just
looks phenomenal. -I love him.
Her piece definitely makes me nervous.
-Once again, you don't know. -Oh yeah, yeah.
But a secured spot in the finals?
I want that prize.
You don't know.
Fright Squad, tell us about your monster baby and its toy.
[Rebecca] Our Cyclops baby, tired of never being able to find
his kind represented in the toy stores,
decided to take matters into his own hand
and make his own Cyclops bear.
A Cyclops is all about the one eye, and this one eye,
I feel like I can look into it and I see infinity.
-It just goes on and on forever. -[Andrew] He is so adorable.
Love his green eyebrows. I feel like he is my own child.
There are some finishing touches that could have
been polished.
A little rushed on the coloring around the ankles, I would say.
You know, if you just had, like, five more minutes,
the fine, fine details there, that's the only thing
I can ding you on.
Howlers, let's talk about your baby monster and his toy.
[Kristen] Well, our baby vampire's favorite toy is obviously
his monster-monster truck,
and he's actually decided that
he's going to drive it himself so that he can go
trick-or-treating and get the treats
before any of the other monsters can.
I love this truck. It's its own character.
[Andrew] The pumpkin tires are convincing, and they really
sell the story. It does feel a little rushed
in the actual character himself.
From here, he's perfection.
But once you get up close, you can see a little bit of
the messiness in the detail.
What a great story. So cute.
Team Ghoul'd, tell us about your baby monster and his toy.
[Liz] So, here we have baby Frankenstein,
who's chewing on his favorite toy,
which is, of course, a double-A battery because it
really lights him up. -Such an adorable piece.
One look, and I know exactly what character this is.
The light bulbs are the thinnest, just like
a real glass light bulb, really beautifully done there.
The only thing that takes me away from the fantasy at all is
that I can see the light a little bit at the neck,
where it's connected from the neck to the body.
But other than that, beautiful piece.
-Thank you. -Bloodsuckers, tell us about
your baby monster.
[Anthony] Our baby witch is playing with her new, state-of-the-art
voodoo doll to practice all of her hexes and incantations.
Caution for ages three and up. Contains choking hazards.
[laughing]
I think this is one of your best sculpts in the face.
It's so beautiful.
This hat has so much personality.
It's, like, it's got star power for sure.
It's a little bit difficult to understand the story visually,
and I think it's because the head's just kind of
coming out of the board, and so is that hand,
but such beautiful work. -Thank you.
Anthony is upset and makes me feel like
I hope I didn't let him down
because my work took the heavy hit
of the critiques from the judges.
Teams, you are making the judges' decision
extremely hard because you're all bringing it.
Fright Squad...
and Team Ghoul'd,
one of you will be going to the finale right now.
[Elizabeth] I really, really like Team Ghoul'd's as well.
As much as I would love to not like it, I do really,
really like it.
I hate that I like it so much, but we have to win this.
The team who just secured their spot in the finale...
with a great visual story...
[suspenseful music builds]
-Team Ghoul'd. -[cheering]
[clapping]
-[Christophe] Yes! -Yes!
-[Christophe] Finally! -Finally!
We have immunity!
That is so huge right now. Oh, my gosh.
God!
-[Tator] Good job. -[grunts]
[Anthony] Now we have to go against two other phenomenal teams,
and that's making me anxious. We got outplayed.
Don't celebrate yet, Team Ghoul'd.
You're still competing in this next challenge.
I want to take a nap.
We are in the final, so might as well go in by the pumpkin
and take a nap while everybody else working hard
and fight to get to the final.
Whoever wins this challenge will get $3,000.
Oh, that makes sense.
I guess I'm not gonna take a nap.
Get that money and get into the finale.
This next challenge is staying in the world of toys with
a "Halloween Wars" twist.
Mm.
Create a toy that comes to life and wreaks havoc on
its owner or creator. -Oh.
-Yeah. -OK.
For your tasting element, use the inspiration of
a beloved children's snack, but elevate it into
a sophisticated treat.
-Ah, I see. -OK.
There's more on the line with this challenge
than ever before.
And we're only going to give you
five hours to get it done.
Oh, my God.
-Starting now. -[woman] Oh, Jesus!
[Tator] [indistinct]
[man] That was good.
They can win the immunity, because we're gonna win
the $3,000 and go to the finale. -That's right.
-Let's make it to the finale and kick their butts there, too. -Yeah.
They are really enjoying, like, the animated kind of
more fun style that we brought... -[Rebecca] OK.
...for the small challenge that we just did.
For our piece, we're gonna have this rocking horse that's been
possessed. It's also controlling
all the other toys in the playroom.
When I think of unicorns, I think of, like,
pinks and blues and those kind of colors.
Because the judges have been on our butts about color,
we're really going to make sure
that we're still bringing this color that they want to see.
So let's work hard. Let's work smart.
-Make sure this is nice and clean. -Yeah.
And there's no reason we can't get there.
[Sabrina] Game on!
First thing first, I'm gonna start building up his torso.
OK, sounds good.
Our piece for this round is a rag doll is furious that
she isn't getting the same love from her owner
as the new plastic dolly.
So she takes the dolly and is melting it with a hairdryer,
and all that's left is a big, smelly plastic puddle.
[Cesar] Remember, this is our last shot at all the marbles.
[Anthony] Come on, $3,000 and a place in the finale.
I'm definitely taking on a massive project, which is
carving the arms, legs, and head
of this giant rag doll.
-How you doing, Anthony? -I'm doing my best.
[Sabrina] You're doing a great job, you're almost there.
-[Sabrina] Keep it up. -[Anthony] Rip and zip, baby,
rip and zip.
I'm just really nervous about this, guys.
[Sabrina] Just keep pushing through,
we're almost there. -[Anthony] I know.
[Anthony, speaking]
[Sabrina] You want me to help you?
Yeah, I just -- I just don't know what to do,
because it's so much,
and it's so patchy right now,
and I'm really not sure what to do.
So let's just start filling it.
-OK, I'm just scared. -OK?
It's -- it's an overwhelming amount of pressure
to complete so much in such a short period of time.
[Sabrina] If you want to go take a break, go take a break.
[voice straining] I can't take a break.
[Sabrina] Yes, you can.
You can do whatever you need to do for your mental health
right now. That's more important.
Over at Bloodsuckers, our dear, sweet Anthony,
I think the stress is getting to him.
[Andrew] I totally get what he's going through.
At this stage in the competition,
especially with this crazy talent all around you,
you start to get that imposter syndrome.
So, I understand the stress with it.
[Shinmin] You know, "Halloween Wars" is so important to Anthony.
He actually told me that he started carving pumpkins
by watching the show.
And so being here and making it this far, he's never made it to
the semifinals before.
So I think he's feeling the pressure.
This was a bad idea on my part.
I shouldn't have committed to doing this whole thing.
[Sabrina] No, it's a great idea.
It's just the time constraint is stressful.
I understand.
I will not hold it against you if you step away
for a minute to compose yourself.
[Anthony] No, no, I have to keep going.
We've come this far.
I am not going to let my team down.
So, this challenge is all about the evil toy come to life
to take revenge on its owner.
Because what we're looking for
is turning on its owner or creator, I want
the interaction between the two things.
[Shinmin] Yeah, and I think when you think about toys,
you think about, like, the mechanism of it.
So, besides the movement, I want to see, like,
springs popping out.
Something kind of fun and exciting and unexpected.
-Unexpected. -So what are you working on, Liz?
I am sculpting our toy sculptor's head.
[Christophe] Oh.
We are doing an evil, murderous marionette who is
taking revenge on his creator for never finishing him.
-[Liz] Yes, we are. -Oh, I'm so relaxed right now.
-[Jonathan] You don't need it. -Not a care in the world.
What do you mean we don't need it?
Who doesn't need money?
[Liz] Even though we have immunity, I mean, I can't not try.
But it is nice to know in the back of my mind,
we can really pull out all the stops.
And if it doesn't work out, we have immunity.
And if it does, maybe we'll have $3,000.
It's a little face, but it takes a long time
to get all the details.
I am making the killer marionette.
It's come to life
and is seeking revenge on the toy maker.
It's a smaller component, but I want to take
a lot of time to get the sculpt right.
[breathes] OK.
Team Ghoul'd has secured a spot.
That means there's two spots left in the finale.
[Andrew] This is where it gets scary.
I just, I feel for everyone.
I know how tense it is.
-[Tator] Just trying to get some kind of torso going... -Oh.
...so I can get started on the head,
because the head's going to take a little while.
So our piece is titled Monkeying Around.
We are going to be doing one of those crazy symbol monkeys
smashing the head of its owner.
It's not a lot of time to do what we're doing here.
Nope.
I'll be contributing the neck and the head of the owner.
It's time to sculpt as fast as you can, Tate.
[Kristen] On this piece, I am going to
be creating the actual monkey toy.
He is going to be larger than life and very menacing.
Good.
Our team really wants to give you
lots of expression on each face,
whether it's the human's face or the monkey's face.
We want to step that game up
and make the expressions come to life.
Our journey so far has been an uphill battle, I feel.
We started strong, and then we dipped low,
and now there's so much pressure.
We have to make it into this finale,
and knowing that one other team has already made it,
that just -- that just lessens our chances
of getting in.
It's surreal, and it means so much to me that we're in
the semifinals together.
I just want to win it with y'all.
[Kristen] Yeah, it would be nice.
[Tator] Winning is everything in this competition right now.
[Elizabeth] OK, so add to the demonic, love.
I'm going to add horns,
but we're going to have
your unicorn horn, because it's still technically
a unicorn that's been possessed.
-OK. -But we're going to add some horns next to it, like
ram type horns, going back. -OK.
So kind of evil.
Yeah, so it doesn't just read
as a black unicorn. It actually looks demonic.
This piece is kind of a little bit silly and a bit goofy,
whilst, you know, being creepy.
So I'm going to be making the girl on the back,
and I'm also going to be making
one of the little stuffed animals
that's, like, clinging onto her hair and also doing
the parts of the rocking horse that are kind of being,
you know, tormented and coming through as, like, demonic.
So I think it's gonna be really fun.
I need the body taken care of so I can mount the head.
We're just going to make sure we listen to the judges,
make sure we're bringing the color, the details and size
and scale, and fingers crossed it'll be enough.
I'm cutting out the snail body.
And we know that they have these little, wiggly sides,
so I'm making sure that those are evident in the piece.
Their bodies kinda, like, move in this weird wave pattern,
so I'm trying to create that wave pattern out of pumpkin.
My contributions for this carve are all of
the little toys -- a bear, an owl, a monkey, and a snail.
-[Rebecca] Very sparkly. -[Elizabeth] Nice job, Rebecca.
Oh, this is gonna look so good if we can get it all done.
[Jonathan] We are gonna get it all done, you know why?
Because I'm gonna make sure of it.
-We're all gonna make sure of it. -Two hours.
-[man] Let's go. -[Sabrina] Which way?
-Drag it right there. -OK.
We've pushed hard into getting where we are today.
So the pressure's on us.
You want to take that title home.
All the work that you've done, the challenges
you've done, the blood, the sweat, the tears,
you've got to make sure it's all worth it.
Take your time. Don't rush, OK?
-Take your time. -[Sabrina] We're gonna take care of this.
[Sabrina] You just focus on that, OK?
We are just working to put anything together
to make it look as good as possible.
Wonderful.
OK. Now what?
-[Cesar] OK. -I don't know what to do.
[Cesar] Right here. I just need
a leg.
We'll make it happen, cap'n. Don't you worry.
Hold your head up high, young man.
[Anthony] We're falling behind, and I feel so bad
because I know that's me.
I know that that's me that caused it.
And I'm extremely unproud of that.
I am at a very distressing low.
OK. I need a chunk.
OK. Give me a sec.
[Cesar] Yes, sir.
-[Cesar] You tell me when you're ready. -I'm trying.
-[Cesar] Head held high. -I'm trying, Cesar.
-I'm trying. -Don't worry.
Don't worry. We're going to finish, OK?
Don't worry. We're working together.
It ain't going to go out like that.
Just a minute, please.
OK.
Your mental health is way more important than this challenge.
[Cesar] I'm going to drill a hole in the old boy's head here
so I can jab it on the pole, OK? -OK.
In spite of my anxiety...
I need to carry on.
-Giving up is not an answer. -[Sabrina] How are you holding up?
-[Anthony] It's not so bad right now. -[Sabrina] You got this.
Remember, we're having fun and that's all we're doing.
I'm not giving up on you guys.
[exhales]
Whilst Rebecca's finishing up the body
of the rocking horse,
I'm going to go on and start doing
the little girl on top.
[Rebecca] OK. Ooh.
There's a lot of pressure because obviously this is for
going into the finale, and everyone has
worked so hard to be here.
Everyone really, really wants this.
It's just, it's stressful, high-stakes here.
So if you can't do this, then you can't do the finale.
For this challenge, I have a ton of sugar work to do.
So for the mane and the tail of the horse, we're going to use
different colors of pulled sugar, and just give it
a different look, and it's going to give it
more movement that fondant, modeling chocolate,
gum paste cannot achieve.
I'm doing different colors, very bright colors,
because when you see a unicorn, they're always very bright,
and I'm pulling different shapes, one for the tail
and one for the mane.
Each piece, piece by piece, has to be pulled and snipped,
pulled and snipped, shaped and cooled down,
so it's a ton of work on my plate.
Did you see all the sugar work that Jonathan created?
[Jonathan] It's a lot of work. It's tedious.
However, it's worth it,
and the judges will appreciate
all the work that goes into this.
I know no one else is gonna do this.
[Andrew] I mean, could not be more unexpected for them.
They took our note about color,
and they're just not looking back.
I think they're like, you know what, we heard you,
and if we have to hear it again,
we're gonna excuse ourselves.
We're gonna walk out of the competition ourselves.
Spinning cotton candy.
For the tasting element,
since we're doing a unicorn,
I guess we're going to go with cotton candy because it just
fits the story so well.
It will be an oatmeal cookie base with a cotton candy cremeux
in the center, little cotton candy crunchies,
and I'll be spinning cotton candy to hide
the tasting element within.
[singing] I'm a pro at this.
I'm a pro at this.
[Tator] I am...
running behind right now on doing this body.
I've got to get this neck done as quick as possible so that
I can start coloring the entire piece.
I'm hoping that I can get it done in time.
So we're upping the game this time.
So Reva is going to make cymbals out of sugar that
the monkey will be holding.
And Kristen actually put a device on the inside of
our monkey structure that will actually have
the cymbals moving.
It's a lot to handle, but it's our last chance to get
into the finale. Team Ghoul'd's already there.
It's our turn to earn our place.
And I want that $3,000. Give it to me.
We started really strong in this competition, and we've had
a couple rough challenges.
There's so much on the line.
I'm feeling stressed.
One hour left in this semifinal.
[Reva] We still got to get the cymbals on this thing,
but we can't put the cymbals on until the shirt's done, too.
[Kristen] We have yet to test our movement piece,
and that's scary to me.
So for my tasting elements today, I'm going to do
a toasted pastry.
So I'm putting my strawberry puree over here,
and then I'm going to start my pie dough.
So a little bit of...
butter.
The challenge is to make a kid's treat, but elevated.
For my tasting element, I am going to make
a strawberry toaster pastry.
It's going to be shortbread cookie dough filled with
strawberry yuzu jam topped with a strawberry chocolate.
I'm tempering my dark chocolate for the toolbox.
I'm also going to contribute to the showpiece by making
the chocolate toolbox.
OK, so I'm going to assemble now.
The tasting element is going to be hidden inside the toolbox.
See the chocolate texture? Really look like real wood.
But there is also something else
hidden inside the toolbox.
My box is ready to go.
We need to, do you put, did you put a hole in it?
-No, not yet. -OK, we need to do that.
[Christophe] I am planning to take a syringe with some strawberry.
When the judges is going to reach for the snack --
boom! [imitates explosion] Explosion!
Snack attack! Strawberry everywhere!
Less than 25 minutes on the clock.
How are you feeling?
More importantly, how are they feeling?
We have some teams that look like they're nearly done.
We have the Bloodsuckers over here,
and they are scrambling.
[Sabrina] We just need to get hands on right now.
I'm hitting my wall.
We're just trying to get a nice piece out
as best we possibly can.
Sabrina is making the hands out of now modeling chocolate.
We were going to do a pumpkin.
You know, we're pivoting left and right, so we're just trying
to get everything onto the piece to present a piece.
Team Ghoul'd, my gosh!
[Andrew] They already know they're in the finale.
Yeah. They want that $3,000.
[Mike] We're placing the tube for the liquid that's going to
come out of the puppet's mouth.
So we're going to put it up his back, and then I got to
feed it through my pumpkin head.
[evil laughter]
I don't care if we have the immunity.
We still want to bring it.
They definitely have the liberty of being able
to take more risks, but that doesn't mean that
they don't want to take risks
that are going to make them rise to the very top.
[Liz] So I'm making my little body part
that I have to put together.
This might be a little bit silly, but I just want to,
like, make the marionettes, like, actually attached
by little wires
so that they kind of dangle correctly.
Maybe.
-Oh! -[gasp]
-Oh, no! -God!
[Christophe] What's happening?
[Liz] The ballerina is not holding
because she's not dry. -[Christophe] Oh, no!
The legs broke, the arms broke.
Mm-mm.
How is she gonna fix that?
[Liz] Really glad we have immunity right now, guys.
-You only have 15 minutes left. -[Elizabeth] Yep.
-[Jonathan] OK. -[Elizabeth] All right.
[Jonathan] Let me finish the sugar work.
[Rebecca] All right, you're good.
Keep going.
These sugar curls are very, very, very fragile.
See, like, right now, I just broke one.
What is going on with our teams right now?
I think the pressure of the semifinals
are getting to everyone.
[Rebecca & Elizabeth] Ah! Uh! Ah-uh! Ah!
-Ah! Uh! Eh! -Torch, torch, torch.
[Andrew] And clearly, the pressure is mounting.
Final five minutes.
I'm attaching contact points where the cymbals are gonna go.
When you have the sugar like this, it can be heavy,
and I'm not certain they're gonna stay on.
This is a big risk, but we have to take it.
The problem here is, like, the isomalt's cold,
and I don't want it to crack as I put it on.
[Kristen] We have these really delicate cymbals in the monkeys' hands,
and I'm worried that if we test this and it breaks
those cymbals, we literally won't have a piece,
so we just have to cross our fingers and hope for
the best that this actually works.
[Reva] This is the difference between going to the finale
or going home.
One minute. Who is going to the finale?
-[Jonathan B.] Let's find out. -Horn.
-Yes, I have it right here. -OK.
Coming through.
[Mike] Feed that tube through, Christophe.
Get whatever we can on the board.
[Sabrina] OK, I'll take over the hair dryer.
Ten, nine, eight, seven...
-We got this, we got this! -...six, five, four,
three, two, one.
Time is up. Whoo!
Good job, guys.
[Tator] Love y'all.
Whoo!
You made it.
It's a good job, bro. You hear me?
Don't ever give up on yourself.
You got this.
You hear?
Team Ghoul'd, tell us about your evil toy showpiece.
[Liz] So we have here a discarded marionette
who wasn't quite finished,
and the toy maker decided to work on something
a little bit prettier, like a ballerina.
And he decided that he didn't like that very much,
so he took his revenge on the toy maker.
-[all] Oh! -Ew!
Yes!
So evil!
The pumpkin head of the marionette
is terrifying. -[Shinmin] Mm-hmm.
Now that I know that he spews black bile over everything,
it's even better. -[Shinmin] This is an incredible piece.
[Shinmin] This toolbox, Christophe, I know it's chocolate,
but it looks just like wood.
And I like how effective it is when you score in
that wood grain, it's super believable.
So our tasting element is a strawberry toaster pastry,
filled with strawberry yuzu jam
and a strawberry chocolate over the top.
Where are our tasting elements?
-They are in the box. -Oh.
-Why are you hiding back there? -Just grab any of them?
-Oh, wait, wait, wait. -[screaming]
Snack attack!
What are you doing? You're getting the dry cleaning bill.
OK, I got it. You did it.
-[Shinmin] Is it -- -[yelling]
Whoa!
-[Jonathan B.] It's a party. -[Andrew] That's amazing.
[Shinmin] That was fun.
You don't know how happy you've made Christophe.
Well, first of all, I'm gonna send you the bill
for my jacket.
But I forgive you
because I appreciate the theatrics of this.
I totally taste the inspiration.
But this is completely elevated.
Not only is it absolutely beautiful,
your sable has that
really short, buttery, crumbly essence.
And I just -- that's my favorite thing in the world.
-[Andrew] Great job. -Thank you so much.
-Thank you, Team Ghoul'd. -Thank you.
Bloodsuckers, tell us about your evil toy showpiece.
[Anthony] Our old rag doll has decided to seek revenge
against his owner by going after her brand-new plastic dolly
with none other than a hair dryer.
[Shinmin] This might be the grossest thing you guys have done.
The head, it just gives me
the heebie-jeebies to see this melting plastic head.
I also love, Anthony, that you created
so much pumpkin work.
And I love that I can see the stitching work
on your character, the face, the hair.
Like, I can tell that that's a rag doll by looking at it.
I think where we just need a little bit more finessing
would be the hairdryer and also the hands that are
holding the hairdryer.
Those are the only things that are, like,
removing me from believing this piece entirely.
[Anthony] I am upset with myself.
Our piece is not what we had hoped, but I'm hoping that
we did just enough to keep us alive.
Tell us about your snack-inspired dessert.
So today, you have a coconut marshmallow cake.
On the bottom, you have black cocoa sponge.
In the center, you have a pineapple lime jelly,
and then you have a coconut marscapone mousse.
Wow! That hits you.
Mm!
The challenge was to create an elevated kids' treat,
and you knocked it out of the park.
You brought the flavor. It's so bright.
It's so pronounced.
It's definitely elevated, and it's something that
I would eat repeatedly. So, great job.
Bloodsuckers, great job. Thank you.
Thank you.
Howlers, tell us about your showpiece.
[Kristen] Well, our classic monkey is used to playing the cymbals,
but now he's decided that he's going to be playing his maker.
It's really stressful to have a moving element
that you can't test.
We just have to cross our fingers and hope for
the best that this actually works.
I don't know if they're totally synced.
Three, two, one.
Ooh.
What I really love about your showpiece is that the story
tells itself.
When I look at this, I know exactly what's happening.
I have one of these clapping monkeys.
So this is speaking to my heart.
It terrifies me at home and it terrifies me here.
Tator, you have a way of sculpting with,
like, the furrowed brows, the hooded eyes, and it just
makes your character look so demonic.
So, great job there as well.
One thing I do want to note,
the shoulders are very uneven. You know that, right?
-Yeah. -[Shinmin] Yeah, so it definitely stands out.
Tell us about your snack-inspired tasting element.
[Reva] Well, you have a brain matter bite.
You know when you go to your grandma's house and they have
the candy bowl with all the mixed nougat candies?
That's a representation of all of them.
They're kind of mixed together.
So you have peanuts, crispies, and it's
a malted milk-inspired nougat as well. -[Shinmin] Mm.
I love the texture.
You've got the crunchy, you've got the crispy,
you've got the stretchy, the gooey.
It's super sweet, but then the peanuts and then
the bit of salt on the peanuts, that's what elevates it for me.
It takes me back to a childhood flavor
that makes me smile. -Thank you.
-Howlers, great job. -[Andrew] Great job.
Fright Squad, tell us about your evil toy showpiece.
[Rebecca] This is what happens when this little girl's trip
down to her toy room goes from playful to possessed.
[Shinmin] I feel like you really made the most out of the hours
that we gave you.
There's just so much to look at, so many details.
[Andrew] I love how you incorporated your sugar.
There's so much beautiful sugar work here.
I feel like you're starting to
almost be sarcastic with me with the color.
You're like, you know what? You wanted color?
Fine -- I'm going to vomit the rainbow on you.
-[Jonathan] It's a unicorn. -You can, you know, right?
Tell us about your elevated snack.
It's an oatmeal scream pie.
So, it's a oatmeal cookie with a cotton candy cremeux
and then cotton candy crunchies.
And you can dig into the actual cotton candy to get out
the cookie if you want, or you can eat it with it.
[laughing]
[Jonathan B.] I can't help it. It's so good.
This is such a fun dessert for me.
I love the interactiveness of the cotton candy and then
the surprise inside of it.
It's supposed to be a childhood treat reimagined and elevated.
It took me back to those days.
Teams, in this challenge, you needed to go bigger
and bolder than ever before
to blow the judges away.
And all of you put everything you had into these showpieces.
But only one team can take home tonight's cash prize
and head into the finale with a win.
The winner of the $3,000 cash prize is...
Immunity didn't slow you down, Team Ghoul'd.
-[Jonathan B.] Congratulations. -[clapping]
Oh, my God!
It feels so good to be going to the final with $3,000.
We do need to send one team home.
[Kristen] At this point, I'm thinking it could go either way,
and I just really, really want to make it
to the finale today.
We've loved watching you work and grow...
Bloodsuckers, but unfortunately,
this is the end of the road.
[Liz] I'm so proud of you guys. You're awesome.
[Jonathan B.] Come here, buddy.
You don't stop, OK? You're so freaking great.
-Look how far you came. -[Tator] Great job, brother.
-[Tator] You know that? -[Liz] You did so good,
I'm so freaking proud of you.
I can't wait to see you on another show.
I hope I've been able to earn some respect from
the other competitors, especially Mike Brown,
Liz Marek,
Elizabeth Rowe. These are titans.
And I want to be seen as someone who loves the community
that he's dreamt of becoming a part of
since he was a little boy.
[Liz] We're going to miss you so much, Anthony.
This has been such an incredible journey
working with my team.
And I called my daughter and told her I think
I just adopted Anthony, so...
[Jonathan B.] Bloodsuckers!
[cheering]
I'm going to get emotional.
Anthony is a great talent, and don't forget,
never, ever, ever give up.
Team Ghoul'd, Fright Squad, and the Howlers --
congratulations, you made it to the final.
-[cheering] -[clapping]
The next time we meet, you'll be fighting for
the "Halloween Wars" title and $30,000.
-[cheering] -[clapping]
[Jonathan B.] Next time on the "Halloween Wars" finale --
[howling]
The top three teams put it all on the line
in a killer carnival. -[Liz] Oh, gosh, be careful.
[squeaking] Oh...
-[Christophe] Oh, no! -Oh, no.
Ta-da! I freaking did it.
-It's hot. -[Elizabeth] You did it.
Whatever it takes, I'm coming for them.
-[whoosh] -[gasps]
[Reva] Oh, it's on fire. It's on fire.
They look stressed to the max.
