Now, if we shift the roll out timeline
by two weeks,
you'll avoid the winter bottleneck entirely,
which means
you'll launch stronger, faster,
and cheaper,
while still meeting all your KPIs.
Any questions so far?
None at all?
Great.
I will give you all a moment,
and, uh, we can discuss the next right step.
Thanks.
Hey, Kaia.
Walk with me.
I've got two new clients
I think could use your expertise,
both corporate accounts.
Right up your alley.
What about that other new account?
The family-owned bistro?
Oh, I assigned that to Natalie,
since she handles our smaller clients
and you've been crushing our corporate accounts recently.
We could set up a meeting for Monday morning?
They're our next big client.
While that sounds tempting,
I actually can't.
I won't be here.
I need to be on the road super early tomorrow
for my trip home.
That's right, your class reunion in...
-Where is it? -Maplecrest.
That sounds like a place that exclusively sells syrup.
And apple cider.
They go all out for the fall.
When can I tell the clients you'll be back?
A week.
I know that's more
than most people here usually take
around this time of the year,
but I will have my phone on me just in case.
-Always available. -Okay.
I wanted to let you know
that I put your name forward for the manager position.
We should have an answer from the board
by the time you get back.
Wow, that's...
Thank you, Yasmine.
Who knows,
maybe you'll be coming back to a corner office.
Well, look what the autumn breeze
finally blew in!
Gigi!
Hi!
Oh...
Let me look at you.
Are you taller?
I think I'm the same height
as I was when I was home for Christmas.
Come in, come in.
I need to pull the cinnamon maple rolls
from the oven before they burn.
Oh.
Smells delicious.
I put extra cinnamon in the icing.
Mm.
My favorite.
Still working hard, I see.
Not this week,
I hope.
I'm sure it's nothing.
You know, maybe I will just check it,
just to be safe.
Didn't they give you this time off?
Mm-hmm.
But they're still asking you to do work?
It's just something small.
I am almost nearly...
done. No biggie.
I'm just gonna put it on silent.
Then we can chuck it in a drawer for a week
so that you can enjoy your vacation.
Just kidding.
Kind of.
I feel so lucky that I got to grow up in this house,
just like mom did.
You two made this place a home.
No, you made this place a home, Gigi.
I'm just grateful we got to share it with you.
The very best years of my life.
Cheers.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm!
Tastes just like home.
Exactly the point.
Mm, yard looks really good.
James' handiwork?
Yeah... He takes good care of me.
Have you spoken to him yet?
I told him you were back in town for a whole week.
I texted him,
and we're gonna meet up at the homecoming game tonight.
Mm.
Oh, guess what I found the other day.
Kaia, come look at this.
Is that what I think it is?
Our fall bake sale tags?
Our fall bucket list?
Gigi, where'd you find this?
In the hall closet when I was cleaning it out.
You and James were so serious about that list.
Oh, we really were.
It all felt so big back then.
You know, we promised each other we'd finish it together.
Winning King and Queen of the Harvest.
Aw.
We weren't even old enough to compete.
Well, the scarecrow-making competition's in a few days.
-And? -I'm just saying,
it might be fun for you both
to finish the list while you're home.
I was kind of hoping you and I could just hang out.
And we will,
but I do have some things to do this week, sweetheart.
It would make me happy
to know that you were not just sitting around here,
waiting for me all week.
Plus, you two have such fun when you're together.
While it might be fun,
I'm not sure James would want
to finish a bucket list we made in high school.
Why not?
It's a chance to reconnect,
to keep the promise you made to your younger selves.
I mean, that's important, too,
no matter how busy we get,
and I'd bet my lucky penny
you'll enjoy that more
than sitting around here all week.
Give it some thought, sweetheart.
I will think about it.
James...
you know this football field's
just gonna get trampled in a few hours.
That attitude is exactly
why most football fields look awful by halftime.
Well, not on your watch.
And definitely not on homecoming weekend.
Anyone, uh, special
you're looking forward to seeing?
Is her name Kaia?
I mean, you two have always been...
Just friends.
Mm.
Why don't you focus less on Kaia and I,
and focus on fixing that sprinkler head?
Okay,
but I am telling you,
I have a good eye for matchmaking.
Oh, you do, do you?
Well, please, don't quit your day job.
You know I can't do this business without you.
No, you can't.
Harper!
Let me help you with that.
Here.
-Hi! -Hiya!
Oh!
Thank you, but for the record, I had it.
Oh, I know. You are Superwoman.
Lucky you.
-How are you feeling? -Good.
You know, you'd think the second time around,
I'd get the hang of it,
but man, I miss seeing my toes.
How was your trip?
The drive was easy.
Oh...
Someone's popular.
Oh, just work stuff.
It's hard to shut it off. I'm up for this promotion.
It's a whole thing.
-Wow. -What?
The level of enthusiasm you had when you said that
was overwhelming.
-I am enthused. -Uh-huh.
I-I am. It is the next right step.
Anyway, I don't have the job yet.
There's a bunch of other people at the company
they're considering, so...
Hi.
Hi, Izzy!
Hi, Kaia.
Up high.
Down low.
There you go.
-Hey, Andrew. -Hey.
-Good to see you. -Good to see you, too.
How's the real estate business going?
Uh, yeah,
busy, but, uh,
we managed to handle it all.
Speaking of,
are you still okay to handle dinner tonight?
I'll leave the game at halftime.
No, yeah, of course,
and honestly, just stay the whole time.
Well, you know I'm too tired for that,
but thank you for the offer. Love you.
You're welcome. Love you.
Okay, kiddo, Daddy's in charge,
which means...
-Candy apples. -Candy apple.
Let's get to it.
Can't believe how big she got.
I know. Time's flying.
So I'll meet you at the game at 6:00?
See you there. Go, Cougars.
Go, Cougars.
Hey.
Always got to get snacks before the game starts.
Oh, absolutely.
Oh, hey, Mr. Winters.
Some things never change, I guess.
Oh, how was your date last week?
-What's his name again? -Vince.
Uh, he was great.
It's just, you know, there wasn't that spark.
Can't fake chemistry.
No, you really can't.
Hi, what can I get you?
Uh, I will get a soft pretzel and a hot apple cider, please.
And I'll get the sweet potato fries
with the toasted marshmallow and extra cinnamon sauce, please.
Hey, Mr. Winters.
Oh, my gosh, that guy never smiles.
Never.
Here you go, ma'am.
-Thank you. -Thanks.
-Oh! -Oh!
Oh, my gosh.
James.
The Kaia special...
sweet potato fries,
toasted marshmallows, and...
Extra cinnamon sauce...
Extra cinnamon sauce.
Sorry.
That's one way to roll back into town.
Oh, you know,
I "Always Like to Make a Scene...
Accidentally".
I thought it was
"Most Likely to Brighten Your Day".
Oh, says "Mr. Most Likely to Succeed".
I'd hug you, but...
Side hug?
Oh, hey, uh, Ben. Good to see you.
Yeah, you too.
Ben's working with me now.
Oh, speaking of, Gigi's backyard looks amazing.
She knows how to stick to a watering schedule.
Oh, that is something that he takes very seriously.
Uh-huh.
And you, Madame Class President,
are you excited for our high-school reunion?
It's gonna be so much fun. I can't wait.
Can't believe it's been 20 years!
I'm gonna go grab us some seats.
Yeah, and I'm gonna go, uh, get a snack.
I know that the game is about to start,
but I'd love for us to catch up while you're in town.
You know, every time you come back home,
you're just in and out.
Yeah, uh, work hasn't allowed for a real break,
but I'd love to hang out,
maybe pay for your dry cleaning.
Yeah, we both know that this stain is not coming out.
Yeah, it's pretty permanent.
Yeah.
You know, I am gonna buy you a new shirt.
-Over there. -Okay.
Oh, uh,
Gigi found something today.
-The fall bucket list. -Yeah.
"Pick 100 apples out of the orchard."
"Carve our names into a pumpkin."
We did, and yours looked like
it said "Jane" instead of "James."
Oh, we had so much fun crossing things off this list.
Too bad we didn't finish it.
Hey, remember when we tried to get the recipe
for the apple cider donuts?
From Betsy's orchard?
She chased us out with a broom.
Definitely incomplete.
And the scarecrow contest.
Second place.
So close!
And, uh, winning King and Queen of the Harvest.
That was definitely your idea.
I mean, at the time,
it felt like the height of adulthood.
Because it was.
You literally had to be 21 to enter.
What were we thinking?
We couldn't imagine a world outside of Maplecrest,
but some of us had to go on...
Here you go.
-And become moguls. -Business analyst.
Same thing.
You always were the smartest person in the room.
Says the actual smartest person in the room.
I'm just trying to keep up with you.
Hey,
you know,
while you're here,
would you consider...
What, you... you want to finish it?
I mean, we could knock off the rest,
you know, for old time's sake.
We haven't spent a lot of time together
over the last few years,
and this...
Oh, you missed me.
Always.
Uh, sorry. I-I gotta take this.
See you down there?
Yeah.
And so I said
there is no way I would volunteer to organize
the back-to-school bake sale again
unless someone else
finally learns how to run the sign-up sheet.
I mean, we need some kind of structure.
Well, you always were the most organized of the group.
Hi.
Oh. One sec'.
What's this?
Oh, my gosh, I remember this.
Your bucket list with James.
Hilarious.
"Make Mr. Winters smile."
Yeah, well, we tried,
like when we hid along his hayride route
and busted out dancing as soon as he drove by.
And then he called your parents
and told them that you snuck onto his property,
and you were both grounded for a week.
Oh, that's right.
"Win King and Queen of the Harvest."
You know, both James and Gigi think we should finish it.
I think you should too.
It'd be fun.
That's what everyone keeps saying.
And fun, it would seem,
is exactly what you need.
Oh, whoa, whoa.
What are you doing?
If you're gonna complete this list,
you better get started,
and you can't nominate yourselves.
We're not gonna win that.
I mean, they'd never give it
to someone just passing through town.
You used to be a local,
and everyone here still loves you.
It's worth a shot.
Plus, you get the most votes,
you win fair and square.
In that case...
I guess I'd better let James know.
You always work in the prettiest places.
Hazards of the job.
What do I owe this surprise drop-in?
Ben told me you'd be here.
Working through your lunch break?
Something I don't normally do.
Really?
That's my M.O.
Mm-hmm.
Um...
so I've been thinking about this,
and...
I know we're adults now,
with actual responsibilities,
but, um...
-You miss me too? -Always.
No, I, um...
I think we have a promise to keep...
to our younger selves...
a chance to make up for lost time.
So...
what do you say, Porter?
Want to complete our fall bucket list with me?
Let's do it.
Yes!
Yeah, I can have that to you
as soon as I'm back at my computer.
Great, thanks.
Hey, here we are.
First incomplete item on the list is...
Obtain the super-secret recipe for the apple cider donuts.
Exactly. You ready?
Oh, yeah. Let's go find Betsy.
-Let's do it. -Okay.
Okay, so what's the plan?
Since the last time we tried to open her recipe box,
she chased us out with a broom.
We ask for a tour.
A tour of a place we've been a million times?
It's been a few years, right?
We haven't been there in a while.
Maybe she redecorated.
And at the end of the tour,
when we pass by the recipe box,
you compliment it and ask to see it.
Well, she's not just going to hand it over.
Hand what over?
Oh, hi, Miss Betsy.
Kaia, James,
uh, sorry, we're not open yet.
Yeah, we know that.
Uh, we just...
We-we wanted to...
We have this fall bucket list that we're trying to complete.
From high school.
And it would mean so much to us if you could help us finish it.
What do you need from me?
Well, we need to...
Obtain your...
super-secret recipe...
recipe for the apple cider donuts.
Ha, this again?
Uh, didn't you try doing this 20 years ago?
No, I don't have time for this today.
I just got a festival-sized order
to fulfill,
and my usual helper called out this morning,
so I don't have time for you two and your shenanigans.
Uh, we're-we're grown-up now.
Yeah, a lot. We're adults.
Not a shenanigan in sight.
-Us? -Who, me?
-No. -No.
As you said, it's super-secret.
It's been my family staple for generations.
Oh, oh, we know.
They're so delicious,
which is why it's on our bucket list.
Yeah, and so is there anything... anything at all...
that we can do to change your-your mind?
Unfortunately, no.
I have more on my baking sheet than I can handle right now,
but good luck
with all the rest of the items on your list.
Now shoo. Bye-bye.
Well, that was a fail.
We're not gonna give up that easily.
Uh-huh?
Watch this.
Can we give you a hand?
What?
You said that your baking sheet was more than you can handle.
Maybe we can help.
Help?
Teach us your recipe...
and in exchange we'll do the work for free.
But we pinky promise
to keep it a secret.
What do you two know about making donuts?
Uh, technically nothing.
But we're very good at following instructions.
Yeah.
Fine,
but there are rules.
Number one, you follow them exactly,
no shortcuts,
and number two,
what you learn about this recipe stays right here.
-Deal. -Deal.
Deal.
-Apple cider donuts... -Apple cider donuts...
Perfect circles...
and...
that is how it's done.
-Great. We totally got this. -Totally.
The ingredients for the batter...
for your eyes only.
Follow it exactly.
I will be back to check on your progress
after I get started on the rest of the order.
Give me your phones.
I can't risk you taking photos.
But I might get a work call.
Then you can't have this.
Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. No.
A few minutes.
You can just go a few minutes without your phone, right?
Just a few minutes.
Okay...
but if, uh, Yasmine calls,
will you let me know?
Sure.
It's Y-Yasmine. Got it.
She's not gonna let me know if Yasmine calls.
Probably not.
Okay, we got this.
So, first,
flour,
two cups.
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. You're, uh, doing it wrong.
Am I?
You're supposed to sift it first.
Baking is science,
not landscaping.
Yeah, I take offense to that.
Okay, cinnamon,
allspice,
a little salt,
a lot of sugar.
I don't know what I was expecting.
Okay.
So, Yasmine,
who is she,
and why does the idea of being disconnected from her
raise your blood pressure?
She's my boss.
She's fantastic,
but she's also very demanding,
in a good way.
Oh, I didn't know
there was a good way in being demanding.
You know what I mean.
No, actually, I don't.
Oh, that's right,
because you're your own boss now.
Yeah.
Congratulations on that, by the way.
Thanks.
I can't believe
I haven't seen your parents since they retired.
How are they?
Loving it.
They're on a cruise right now, actually.
Nice,
and, uh, your brother, is he...?
Hunter's good.
My parents wish he'd come home more often,
but he's loving working overseas,
being a translator.
Yeah, that was always his dream, huh?
-Mm-hmm. -Glad he's living it.
Yeah, me too.
Okay, wet ingredients?
-Okay. -Okay, let's do it.
Okay, I think we're ready
to start piping the batter into circles.
-Do you want to do it? -Mm-mm.
You look like you feel confident.
I am.
Oh, whoa.
It's...
You're... Uh, I'm intimidated.
You should be.
Here, lemme try, lemme try, lemme try.
No, this is my job now.
Oh, okay.
Besides, you're not gonna top that.
Right. Oh, really?
Here... Here we go.
Watch this with...
Okay, okay, mine was better.
No, no, it's not.
Give it here.
Oh, one sec'. You have something on your nose.
-Oh... Oh, you... -Got it.
Oh, you want to play games?
-My turn. -I'll get you.
-Hi. -Hi.
Uh, I think these are all ready.
Great. Now you can get started on these.
I'll get these cooking to see how you two did.
They're gonna be great.
Thanks. Yeah.
She did not look happy.
Stop!
Thank you, Miss Betsy.
Thank you.
You're welcome. Bye-bye.
-We nailed it. -Crushed it.
-One down. -Three to go.
-Cheers. -Cheers.
-Mm, these are really good. -Really good.
That's quite the smile for a cedar.
What?
It's just, uh...
I know.
Kaia Moore has always been your kryptonite.
No, we're just friends, always have been.
Uh-huh,
and what about this, uh, bucket list?
Something fun to do,
to reconnect, you know?
It's not a big deal.
Uh-huh.
What?
But no, this is good for you.
I haven't seen you this excited about anything
since the, uh,
township switched to organic fertilizer.
Now, that was a big deal.
Yes, it was.
It would be a huge promotion,
lots of responsibility,
a-a true management role,
so less time with clients,
but...
Sounds very fancy.
It is.
Then why aren't you excited?
Oh, not you too.
What?
Harper said the same thing when I told her.
She said I lacked enthusiasm.
Well, she hit that nail on the head.
I'm just saying,
if it doesn't light you up and bring you joy,
it might not be the right move,
no matter how fancy the title is.
I mean, if you've got this week to think about it
before they decide,
you should take it.
Oh, how'd it go with Betsy today?
Did she give you the recipe?
She did.
What's the secret?
Gigi, you know I can't tell you that.
I made a promise.
Now that's my girl,
and that's the joy I was talking about.
Gigi, do you ever think about
how many little choices it took
for your life to pan out the way that it did?
Well...
I think there are many moments
when...
if I had gone left
instead of right,
my life would look very different.
Like when?
Like...
buying this house
or choosing to put my career on hold
to raise your mom
and then help raise you.
Any regrets?
Oh, not in the slightest.
If given the chance,
I'd do it all over again,
exactly the same way.
Why?
You have something you regret?
No.
Well,
life has a funny way
of leading you exactly
to where you need to be
at the right time.
You just have to be present enough to realize it.
Hi, Andrew.
Yes, uh-huh.
Great. Thank you.
Sorry about that.
Andrew, as in Harper's Andrew?
Yes.
Have a seat.
I've decided to sell the house.
It's time.
What? Why?
This place is too big for just me.
I can't keep up with everything.
I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner.
I've actually been on the wait list for years
for a villa at Willow Gardens.
Willow Gardens? Wow.
Wow, that place is fancy.
I know.
I got the call last week
that they finally have an opening.
Did you know they have a private chef
who cooks for all the residents,
and weekly wine tasting,
and all kinds of classes,
like cooking and candle making?
Sounds like a lot of fun.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, I'm... I'm thrilled for you, Gigi...
but, um...
I will miss this place.
Me too,
but I'm excited for this next chapter.
I'm supposed to move in next month,
but I'll have to find a buyer for this house first
if I'm going to be able to afford it.
Fingers crossed
the right buyer comes along soon.
Hello, everyone,
and welcome
to Maplecrest's 40th annual Scarecrow Building Contest.
It is an honor to be hosting this contest
yet again.
Right, honey?
All the straw is provided by my dear husband's handiwork.
If you haven't done so already,
we'd love to see you down at the hayride
before the season's end.
Now, let's get started.
You all have one hour to build your scarecrows,
using only the materials provided.
Are you ready?
Okay,
on your mark, get set, go!
Pants, yes.
Okay, I think we should start from the base
and go from there,
and we want to make it stable.
It has to be expressive.
But more importantly, stable.
Most importantly, expressive.
Expressively stable?
That's not a thing.
Could be.
We make the rules around here.
By the way,
I've been brainstorming some ideas
about how to make Mr. Winters smile.
Oh, yeah?
Any good ones?
Nothing yet...
but I'm cooking.
First step is to get him to look up from his book.
Well, I'm pretty sure
Nancy is the only person
that has ever gotten him to smile.
I mean, she's a ray of sunshine,
and he's...
well, Mr. Winters.
Opposites attract.
Apparently so.
I've-I've seen worse, I guess.
I'm telling you,
it's that expressively stable style of ours.
Should we move on to the body?
-Yeah. -Okay.
Could go classic, throw on a hat, a scarf,
make a traditional
but technically perfect scarecrow.
You think that's going to win us gold?
I mean, I don't know.
Look over there.
Harper and Andrew are literally making a baby scarecrow
for their mama scarecrow.
That's pretty good. Yeah.
Okay, we need something bigger,
something unique that's gonna get us noticed.
-Okay. -Okay.
How do we feel about a headless horseman?
Let me help. Let me help.
Okay, well, he's looking down.
Maybe he's just not a fan of eye contact.
Creators, your time is halfway up.
You have 30 minutes left.
-Okay, we need to pivot. -Okay, to what?
I have an idea.
Maybe we knock something else off the bucket list
at the same time.
Hmm?
-That's good. -Yeah?
-That is good. -Okay.
Okay.
Looks like Mr. Winters to me.
Yeah.
Contestants, your time is up in...
A book. Quick, quick, quick, quick.
-Five... -Hurry, hurry.
Four, three, two, one.
Everyone step back from your creations.
The judges will now deliberate.
Is this supposed to be me?
What do you think?
It's very...
accurate.
Oh, that was definitely not a smile.
Definitely not.
Okay, everyone,
quick reminder,
the winning scarecrow
will be displayed in the town square
for the remainder of the fall festival.
Oh! The judges have made their decision.
Because of its originality,
the winner of this year's scarecrow-building contest is...
Kaia and James!
Scarecrow-making champ.
Put that on the resume.
You two make a great team.
Thanks, man. Congratulations.
Oh, congratulations, guys.
I'm so happy for you.
Your scarecrow is amazing.
Congratulations!
-Good job. -Congrats.
You were close.
Congratulations, you two.
-Thank you. -Thank you, Nancy.
What are you doing?
Good job, partner.
Couldn't have done it without you.
Same.
-Nice, right? -I like it.
Is there anything in the world
better than a maple milkshake from the Maplecrest Diner?
No, I don't think there is.
These are just as good now
as they were the night after the prom.
Oh, that's right.
We got there
10 minutes before they closed.
And they still made our milkshakes
and our sweet potato fries.
Which we ate in the back of your truck
at the lookout point.
Where you spilled my milkshake.
No, no, no, no, you spilled your own milkshake.
Uh-uh.
No, you spilled it while you were looking at the stars.

Okay, fine. I will make it up to you.

By buying you the next round of milkshakes.
You and cheer sing.
I think it's a nice way to celebrate
the little moments.
Now clink my cup so I can drink this thing, okay?
Thank you!
There's a few things on this list
that are gonna be really tough.
Oh, come on, Porter.
Don't tell me you're giving up now.
Who, me?
Never.
If you're still in it, I'm still in it.
Yeah, winning King and Queen of the Harvest...
and making Mr. Winters smile will be tough, but...
Hey, do you need to get that?
Oh, it can wait.
Okay, wh-whoa.
Who are you, and what have you done with Kaia Moore?
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I just...
I know how important work is to you.
I mean, you're... you're right.
For a long time,
it has been
the most important thing in my life.
I guess I figured
that if I could make myself a success in my career,
then everything else in my life would work itself out.
It didn't?
The opposite, actually.
20 years have passed,
and I'm starting to realize
that I haven't done
a single thing my younger self wanted to,
like...
Like finishing the fall bucket list.
Like finishing the fall bucket list, exactly.
Thanks for wanting to do that with me, by the way.
Yeah, of course.
Thank you...
but I don't think we're gonna have any luck
with getting Mr. Winters to smile.
Oh, don't worry. I have a plan for that.
-Oh, do you? -Mm-hmm.
Can't wait to hear it then.
Okay, we know of at least one thing
that'll get Mr. Winters to smile,
and that's...
-His wife, Nancy. -Exactly.
So, in order to get him to smile,
we need to get her to smile.
Ooh, three-dimensional chess. I like it.
What do you got in mind?
Well, we make her a fall bouquet,
leave it on her doorstep,
put a nice little note...
And what?
Wait in their bushes until they get home?
Yeah.
Let's do it.
Oh, hey...
Oh, those look like our bake sale bags.
They certainly do.
Remember when we were that age?
I do.
Winning the bake sale
was the first thing we crossed off our bucket list,
if I remember correctly.
It was, and it was all
thanks to your incredible idea to make the vending tray mobile.
I think I've still got that wearable vending tray
somewhere in my garage.
Oh, that was iconic.
You know, going between classes,
racking up the cash.
Except I was always the one that had to wear the tray.
Well, it was your idea...
and with ideas like that,
I always knew you'd do something big, Porter.
Like running your own business,
what's that like?
You get to build things
for people that you actually get to know.
Yeah, it's my favorite part.
I love that I get to help
make someone's life a little bit more beautiful.
With the reunion coming up...
I've been thinking a lot
about being voted most likely to succeed,
and I kind of failed at that.
You're a CEO.
You make it sound so fancy,
but...
I just thought
I would have left Maplecrest by now.
I remember you getting all those offers
from those amazing architecture firms
after college.
Yeah, it... it never felt right.
My parents needed someone
to stay behind and help with the business,
and one thing led to another,
and now...
James, running a successful business
is not easy.
You should be proud of yourself.
I know.
It's just...
I thought I would accomplish more by now...
but you,
you seem to be living up to
"Most Likely to Brighten Your Day".
I don't know about that.
You're literally on a mission to make somebody smile.
Can't brighten a day any more than that.
This is the first time
I've done something like this in years.
Work is...
has gotten very impersonal.
That's got to be tough.
It is.
I miss actual connection.
I got into this career
to help people meet their personal goals,
make their businesses thrive,
but could not be more different than that.
Have you thought about moving to another position?
Actually, I'm up for a promotion...
That sounds promising.
But it's a manager role,
so even further from
actually helping clients hands on,
and I don't know what to do about it.
It's an amazing opportunity,
and I don't want to throw away
everything I've worked so hard for
by turning it down.
Well, there's another way to look at it.
Instead of throwing it all away,
maybe it's just a pivot
to a version of your life that makes you happier.
Just a thought.
Thanks.
Thank you.
Okay, back to the mission at hand.
So what are we going to put on this card
that's gonna get Nancy to smile,
and hopefully Mr. Winters too?
"Dear Nancy,

I can have Maxine send it over to you,

Him and I are getting everyone we know to go vote.
Well, I'll run by the general store tomorrow
and cast my vote.
Thank you, Gigi.
Would you give me a hand with the apples, dear?
Sure.
I, uh, saw the sign out front.
It's officially official, huh?
My time here has been

Well, I can't wait to come visit.

Kaia!

-Thank you. -Oh...
How do you feel?
I'm thrilled...
but I mean,
it's not what I got into business strategy to do,
where I wanted to help people, you know?
Did you accept?
Not yet.
Sometimes, time is all you need
to see things clearly.
You can't rush it.
Like a good mulled wine,
you let it simmer...
let all the flavors come together
in their own time.
I mean, I have been rushing everything,
every decision,
for a long time now.
Maybe this time you don't.
This time, you slow down
and get really clear on what you want.
Take your time.
Enjoy a glass of mulled wine...
and mull it over.
I see what you did there.
Love it.
Hey, Gigi.
Do you feel like doing some baking this morning?
Great. I'll see you soon.
-What's that? -Huh?
Oh, it's nothing.
Uh-huh. Let me see.
Seriously, though. It's nothing.
Oh, wow. This is really good.
Did you design these?
Yeah, a long time ago.
Just ideas.
One day...
One day.
But, uh, we should get going.
We gotta get to the Carrigan property.
I got something to do after.
With Kaia?
Why did you say it like that?
I didn't say it like anything.
It's just the other day
at the scarecrow-building competition,
uh, you two were vibing.
We wanted to win.
I know you did,
but that doesn't change the fact
that you two were having fun together.
Can you get in? I don't want us to be late.
Maybe one day you'll get a new truck.
If we're gonna win enough votes
to win King and Queen of the Harvest,
we need to go big,
so when we raise the most money at our fall bake sale,
we use that vending tray, right?
Did you bring it?
Got it right here, just like you asked.
Perfect.
Why?
Wait, are these...?
The very same tags from high school?
Well, sort of.
I updated them a little bit.
So...
how are we doing this?
Pumpkin loaf, apple crisp, mini cinnamon rolls,
pecan pie bars, and spice cookies.
When did you have time to make all these?
Oh, I didn't. Gigi did.
Ooh, so that means they're going to be stellar.
Okay, for the voters!

but the town's voting committee
has picked its winner
for King and Queen of the Harvest,
but I just wanted you to know
that it's not going in your direction this year.
I'm so sorry.
Thanks for telling me.
Have you spoken to James?
I don't know what to say.
Is there a part of you
that would reconsider what he said,
instead of the solution being to run away from a good thing?
My solution is not ruining what we already have.
I couldn't handle that.
Besides, I mean, our lives are just...
just in different places.
So you accepted the job?
Well, that's the thing.
I-I haven't,
and I don't know why.
I've just been stalling.
Now with Gigi selling the house,
it all just feels like
the end of a chapter
that I'm not quite ready to close,
even though I should be.
Not if it doesn't feel right.
I have known you for nearly 30 years,
and when you make your mind up about something,
there is no stopping you,
so the fact
that you can't move forward with this job
tells me that it's not right,
and you know it,
and if you want to get on a different life path, Kaia,
you need to start fighting for a different life path.
I just don't know where to start.
Yes, you do.
And as far as James goes,
you two have been dancing around this idea of "just friends"
since we all had flip phones.
I've seen the way you look at each other,
and the way you support one another,
how you're your truest self when you're together.
That is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, Kaia.
Don't let your fears stop you
from experiencing what could be beautiful.
Hey, Harper. I need your help over here.
Oh, sorry.
One sec'.
Hey, Yasmine.
So sorry to bother,
but it's been a few days,
and I just wanted to get a read,
because the board's getting antsy.
Can I just tell them you accept,
and we can hammer out the deal terms
when you get home?
Actually...
I saw on the firm's recruiting site
that there's a remote petition open.
My current job but remote...
with a say in client selection.
Uh, yes, there is a position.
Great, then I'd like to throw my hat in the ring.
I'm so honored you considered me
for the manager role,
but it's just not right for me.
I-I had no idea you felt that way.
If you're sure about the remote position...
I am.
Then it's yours.
I'll see to it.
Yasmine, um...
thank you.
Of course.
Talk soon.
So good to see you guys. You look so great.
-Harper. -Oh, my gosh.
Sorry.
You almost made me go into labor.
Right, sorry.
What can I do for you, Mr. Winters?
I have something, um,
I'd like to... like to speak to you about.
Um, it's rather...
rather urgent.
Oh, sure, yeah.
Hello, Andrew.
Gigi, hi!
Sorry for the late call,
but I've got some great news.
We've got an exciting offer for your home.
Oh, that's wonderful.
I can't wait to tell Kaia.
I'm right here, Gigi,
and I already know,
because the offer came from me!
Wait, what?
Yes!
It's our home,
and I can't imagine it going to anyone else.
My life,
my next right step,
it's-it's right here in Maplecrest.
I will fill you in on everything
when I get home.
I love you!
I love you too, baby girl.
Oh...
Hello. Hi, everyone.
If I could get your intention, please?
It is so wonderful
getting to see you all here tonight,
reliving so many memories
and reconnecting in such special ways.
As class president,
I get to do a lot of very important things tonight,
like making sure the punch bowl stays full...
and making sure we all get home by curfew...
but I also get to do something extra special tonight.
Usually, we wait until the end of the Fall Festival
to crown our King and Queen of the Harvest,
but this year,
it just so happens
that our honorees are from our graduating class.
Whoo-hoo.
So, after a very persuasive phone call
to the town's voting committee,
we got special permission to do things a little early.
It is my esteemed honor
to announce this year's King and Queen of the Harvest...
Kaia Moore...
and James Porter.
What?
But I thought...
It was supposed to be Nancy and Tom Winters,
but they graciously declined.
He called the committee himself.
From the scarecrow...
to that bouquet you left for my wife
and the joy that you brought to my hayride,
I could tell how much that bucket list meant to you.
You two deserve this.
Thank you.
Thank you!
Oh, you smiled. He smiled.
He did. He did.
What?
"Make Mr. Winters smile"?
Well, that's an easy one.
I smile all the time.
As is tradition,
the King and Queen of the Harvest
share the first dance.
-Kaia... -James, may I?
This week...
with you...
doing this bucket list...
helped me slow down
and realize that I needed a change.
Life is too short,
and I don't want to miss any more moments.
I want to be there for the people that I love.
You...
have been there through all of it.
No one knows me like you do...
and the thought of losing you scares me.
You're not going to lose me.
I'm not going anywhere.
We don't have to have every step figured out...
just the next right step...
and with you not living in Maplecrest...
maybe the next step is
I come up to you every other weekend.
-Ben can... -Or...
or...
we could just stay in Maplecrest.
I, um...
turned down that job promotion
and opted instead for a remote position...
one that I'm very excited about...
and I put an offer on a house...
Gigi's.
Kaia, I...
That's...
Wow.
You know how much I love that house,
and I...
I want roots.
I want consistency.
I want connection.
I want you.
I want us. I...
"Make Mr. Winters smile."
Check.
"Win King and Queen of the Harvest."
-Check. -Check.
And I think we forgot one more.
One more?
Mm-hmm.
"Kiss at the reunion"?
Check!
Check.
I guess we saved the best for last.
I guess so.
