Original subtitles

Can I have everyone's attention, please?

Members of the press, family and friends,

thank you for joining us.

Without further ado, I'm proud to present.

Congressman Martin Richardson.

[applause]

For those of you who have followed my career,

you understand, like my grandfather,

I have tried to encourage the country,

the state and this district

to live up to the promise of its own ideas.

The Constitution of the United States

offers a road map to doing exactly that.

After someone in my district was wrongfully convicted,

I couldn't just move on.

I sponsored a bill to make sure that...

You got a tablet I can use? Need to update a chart.

- [clears throat] - Yeah.

Did you know Martin's making a public statement?

About Smitty's arrest?

Smitty got arrested?

MARTIN: I am urging you

not to rush to judgment

when it comes to the guilt or innocence of Bradley Smith,

and not just because he's my husband,

but because he should be treated like any other citizen

who finds themselves in a similar position.

Smitty.

Martin is doing a fantastic job.

He really is.

The campaign will get back on track,

and the public won't jump to conclusions

about you, sweetheart.

The integrity of your career

and your personal life speak for themselves.

I hope so.

MARTIN: Even as rumor mills grind on

and social media convicts by a thumbs up or a thumbs down

like an old Roman Colosseum,

we can't give in to public pressure without...

[R&B music playing]

[exhales]

we must be vigilant in our quest

to ensure that every citizen,

- the wealthy, the indigent... - [phone buzzes]

the well-connected and the unaffiliated

are shown equal protection under our laws.

Congressman Richardson.

Are you seriously glossing over the fact

that your husband was arrested for drug-induced homicide?

? ?

What'll you have?

Old-fashioned. Make it with rye.

That kind of afternoon, huh?

What is it to you?

I'll make it a double.

Hey, mogul. I feel neglected.

I have never neglected you.

And I can lavish attention on you later.

Right now, I am heading out

to meet your sister to show her condos.

Ah. Let me narrow your choices.

Noisy neighbors, mold and next door to a landfill.

Will it really be that bad to have Heather in the same area?

Yes.

Humor her, show her as many condos as you want,

just none that are available.

The longer it takes, the sooner she'll get bored

and move on to her next idea.

That's not going to work.

Heather seemed really sincere

when she said she wanted to make amends.

I think she's determined to get back in your good graces.

Oh, she's determined all right,

but my graces have nothing to do with it.

Well, Heather already told us she wouldn't be here full-time.

The condo will just be a pied--terre

for when she's in the DMV.

You have rose-colored glasses where my sister's concerned.

While you've been walking around wearing

cynical glasses and being moody.

What's going on?

Nothing.

Joey, I'm tired of you shielding me.

We are partners.

Something is going on, and I want to know what it is.

All right.

I'll tell you.

I can't believe she is capable of something that despicable.

Believe it.

That's why I've been so irritable.

It's been a lot to deal with.

I'm confused.

Why are you dealing with Hayley?

Shouldn't Bill be taking the lead?

Hayley's mess ended up on my doorstep

because of her cousin Randy.

Randy and Hayley are related?

How is that even possible? I've known Randy for years.

He-he was Doug's best friend.

Other than his ex and son,

I've never heard him talk about family.

Now you know why.

Hayley and Randy had to keep their connection secret

so they could run their scams.

Well, now that you say that,

Dani was asking me a lot of questions about Randy.

I guess she was putting the pieces together.

You didn't have anything to do with the charges

being dropped against Hayley, did you?

That was all Bill, and he had his reasons.

Randy will certainly be hearing from me at some point,

but right now, I don't have the time.

And I'm not thrilled that you kept this from me.

This all came to a head in the last couple of days.

And then, Heather shows up

and throws a wrench into our lives.

Again.

I hope you'll forgive me.

You know I can't stay mad at you.

I just

wish you'd let me share the heavy stuff.

If I did that, I wouldn't be so tense

and need you to rub my neck and my shoulder.

In fact, you know, I could really use a massage

right-right now.

Oh, okay. Um, I see right through you.

Nice try, um, but you are trying to make me late

for my meeting with Heather.

Not gonna work.

? ?

MARTIN: Any statistics that do exist

are limited and prone to inaccuracy.

False accusations that do not lead to convictions

are almost impossible to track.

But getting these numbers on the books

and to the public will be a signature issue for me.

We are looking into all options, and when the time is right,

I will make a statement.

As you all know, transparency has been the cornerstone

of my time in office, and will continue to be.

Contact my office for more info.

- Next question. - REPORTER: Bradley Smith has

become part of the story he's writing.

How can the public be confident that he hasn't been

manipulating the facts?

Can voters trust your judgment when you're withholding details?

My husband is being framed.

The person responsible for this travesty of justice...

That's all the time we have

for Congressman Richardson's public statement.

Please visit the campaign website

for more information.

We'll see you at the polls. Thank you.

Keep your chin up, grandson.

Ah...

Cameras aren't rolling, but, uh, a lot of people waiting

to catch you in a vulnerable position.

Don't give them the chance.

I can't believe I was ambushed.

That wasn't supposed to happen.

I had a lot of curve balls thrown at me in my time on the Hill.

Given the circumstances, you handled yourself well.

Thanks, Granddad, but we both know

I let my emotions get the best of me,

and I probably blew it for my campaign.

And the worst part, for Smitty.

Well, that boomeranged.

It did.

And Martin was doing such a great job

until that reporter went rogue.

Drug-induced homicide is out there now,

and that information could taint a jury pool.

So, what do we do?

Oh, Granddad and Shonda will take lead

when it comes to damage control for Martin's campaign.

I need to organize a strategy session for Smitty's case.

Okay, Smitty is still at the house

- with Nicole and Mother, right? - Mm-hmm.

So, we'll call everyone, tell them to hold tight

and have a meeting today.

Everyone is gonna want to pitch in for Smitty.

I'm on board.

It's all hands on deck for this case.

I will let Granddad and Martin know.

Okay, sweetie.

That was a disaster.

Smitty, can I get you something else to drink?

I'm good. Thanks, Nicole.

It's a text message from Naomi about a strategy session.

Don't worry, the family's gonna find a way

to turn this thing around.

Mother's right. Please don't give up hope.

I wish I never even heard about the Impaler.

Why did I not just stick with puff pieces and profiles?

You have made a positive impact in a lot of people's lives.

Not as many as Martin.

The country needs him in office, and Martin needs to be there.

It's been his lifelong passion.

As journalism has been yours.

That's what I'm trying to say.

What if my ambition is the thing that crushed Martin's dream?

This is Smitty being led into the interrogation room.

I cannot believe somebody at the police station

would record this.

Eh, but I guess everything is content these days.

What I can't believe is my son-in-law

was actually charged as an accomplice in Lia's death

and no one bothered to tell me.

I'm sure the family just didn't want to ruin our engagement.

Yeah, I bet Kat or Martin

put out the word not to bother you two.

I mean, like we can't get engaged

and get news at the same time.

What is it?

A zillion missed calls from Martin

before his public statement.

I was in surgery.

[sniffles, clears throat]

Martin?

Dad, I guess you saw that.

Yeah, only partially.

Shanice showed me Smitty at the police station.

How are you two holding up?

I haven't touched base with Smitty yet,

but, uh

a reporter here went off script

and made things a little chaotic.

Yeah, I caught that part.

I'm so sorry, son.

Granddad is here.

He and Shonda don't think it's anything we can't handle.

I wish I'd known.

Um... I didn't tell you when Smitty was arrested

because I knew you were traveling back from New York

after the proposal.

I didn't want to ruin your romantic trip.

Look, I-I appreciate that,

but something this big, please tell me next time.

I did call to invite you to Orphey Gene's

for the statement, but they said you were in surgery.

I was.

Is there anything I can do for you two now?

Um, no. I have to go.

And-and today we're good.

I don't want you to change any plans for us.

I don't want this situation

to disrupt anyone else's life.

Smitty is innocent, and the truth will come out

and this whole thing will be over.

I hope so.

Dad, I mean it.

Don't worry about us.

I love you, son.

I love you too, Dad.

Naomi's ready to head over to the house.

You should, uh, catch a ride with her.

I don't mind waiting for you.

We can talk next steps in the ride over.

I need to touch base with Shonda first,

but she's got her hands full with that hack journalist.

Besides, you need to see Smitty.

You ready?

Yeah. Martin's gonna hitch a ride with you.

- I'll be right behind you. - Okay.

You were typing away like you've got a deadline.

I was looping Andre in.

- He's concerned about Smitty. - Hmm.

Well, you usually steer clear of the political scene.

True, but Mother wanted to shore up Dupree presence,

- so I answered the call. - Hmm.

Why are you here?

Vernon texted. He said he wanted me here.

I assume he called you to muzzle Hayley

if she showed up here again.

- She was here? - Oh, yeah, she was here.

Thankfully, Daddy sent her packing

before she could cause too much trouble.

But we wouldn't have to worry about her showing up

at inconvenient places if she were sporting prison stripes.

Okay, I don't anticipate her being around much longer.

I mean, the divorce has been filed,

the settlement was transferred into her account earlier today.

She's probably on a private jet to Saint Barts right now.

You sent her flying on a private jet?

The settlement was large enough that she can

definitely afford it on her own.

I can just see her feet kicked up

on a private jet, popping bottles

like she didn't just try to kill the man who made it possible.

- It's like you're rewarding her. - Well...

Yeah, well, I would have paid anything

to get that woman out of my life.

And the fact that I was able to officially

cut all ties with that woman today?

It's poetic justice.

And she thought I'd be pushing up daisies

instead of blowing out birthday candles.

You were only here to cover the statement,

not toss out gotcha questions.

Your days of exclusive access are over.

Get out of my face.

Naomi is organizing a strategy session.

I'm sorry, I'm going to be on the phones doing damage control.

I won't be able to make it.

That's understandable.

- We'll regroup tomorrow. - Okay.

[phone chimes]

We have a problem.

Let me guess, her name is Hayley.

Yes.

She showed up at Orphey Gene's

while Martin was making a public statement.

You think she planned to hijack the event

and air our dirty laundry?

The thought occurred to me.

[sighs] All right, I'll track her down and have a little chat.

Just a chat.

I promise I'll only use my words.

I'll just remind Hayley what's at stake for her.

HEATHER: Something wrong with your drink?

Why do you care?

Was gonna order one, but if it's no good,

I'll get a different drink.

Drink's fine. Knock yourself out.

I'll have what she's having.

You look familiar.

Have I seen you before?

Might have seen my mug shot.

I'm bad news in this town.

[laughs]

You're serious.

Dead serious.

Wow.

I'm intrigued.

I'm sitting across a real, live criminal mastermind.

I'd love to hear all about your rap sheet.

Mm, I'm not here for small talk.

I'd prefer to choke down my subpar drink alone.

Wow, it tastes fine to me.

Would you get a fresh drink from my new friend Hayley here?

How do you know my name?

Oh, honey, I know all about you.

Who sent you?

No one.

My goodness, you're as jumpy as a jackrabbit.

Don't turn it back on me. I'm the master of that game.

- Oh. - How is it you know all about me?

[laughs]

It's just the Fairmont Crest Country Club gossip mill.

So, why didn't you just say that up front?

Well, 'cause I wanted to get to know you on my own.

Make my own choices.

Give you the benefit of the doubt.

Hmm.

So, you're Fairmont Crest's latest socialite?

No, not exactly.

I'm not really a member of the club.

I, uh, am spending more time in the DMV, though,

and I'm meeting with a realtor to look at condos later.

But I got a guest pass to the club,

and these biddies just love to flap their gums.

Mm. And I bet I know what those hen-heads were flapping about.

The young gold-digging wife

who tried to poison her rich husband?

Mm. You're not wrong.

[chuckles]

Full transparency, I hang with Dani Dupree.

Ugh. [Scoffs]

You know, I actually think you did her a favor,

ending her marriage.

How's that?

Well, now she has this hot young stud

to keep her warm on a cold night.

Andre?

- Mm-hmm. - [laughs]

Girl, he's no prize, okay?

He's half the man my ex is. Literally.

He's just a plaything for Dani.

- Really? - Mm-hmm.

I wouldn't mind playing with that thing.

Hmm.

I mean, he sounds pretty amazing.

World-traveled.

Photographer with a keen eye.

Intriguing to me.

Excuse me, am I being phubbed?

Looks like Uptown's gone downhill

- under the new management. - Ugh.

Excuse me? Are-are you kidding?

Oh, I'm serious.

I'm not happy about them serving the skank

who went from home-wrecking to homicide.

Vanessa, don't even come up in here with all that smoke.

Joey told me that you and Randy are cousins,

and that Bill wasn't your first mark.

So, speaking of smoke,

there's a reserved table in the seventh circle

for a woman who destroys a marriage

and wrecks a family to go after a man she never even loved.

Oh, I loved Bill's bank account,

his black card, oh, and his taste in jewelry.

Speaking of taste, yours is aggressively nonexistent.

Aww, check yourself, Blondie.

It's not like you're the patron saint of marriages.

At least I didn't have to pay men to show me a good time.

They tripped over themselves to lavish me in whatever I...

Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

Vanessa.

My brother would never forgive me

if I let you get into a bar fight here.

Joey Armstrong is your brother?

Yes.

Are you second-guessing who you were snubbing now?

[whispers]: Let's go.

You know, I'm allowed to see another birthday

thanks to you, Dani.

Yes, Chelsea was at my house earlier,

and she said she had something very special planned for you.

Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was, um

quite something.

Our daughter signed me up for a dating app.

- No, she did not. - Oh, but she did.

- [laughs] - And the site has a...

a lot of users who are, shall we say, mature.

- [laughs] - Yeah. I even saw Anastasia's pic on there,

complete with shoulder pads and a disco ball.

I mean, who is she trying to fool?

Bill, you need to stop.

[both laugh]

You know, I was, um

thinking about last year,

when you gave me that gold-plated key.

Did you find any other gifts you bought me

stashed in your closet?

I helped you get rid of Hayley.

- You're welcome. - [chuckles]

Well, how about a birthday hug?

Hmm?

- [chuckles] - Aww.

Come on, you can do better than that.

Actually, I can't.

I have to get to a family meeting.

Oh. Anything I can help with?

Nope. I think we got it covered.

- But thanks for coming today. - Mm-hmm.

? ?

DANI: Happy birthday.

Thank you.

Mrs. Gardell. Again.

[chuckles] I can take care of it.

[groans] Would you? I've reached my quota.

Got it.

You know, Shanice has been walking on sunshine

ever since you two got engaged.

- Yeah. - Must be why she's going easy on us nurses.

Mm-hmm. I'm feeling pretty good about being engaged myself.

Well, that wraps up my day, actually.

Yeah? What's on the agenda?

Well, Martin doesn't want me to change plans,

so I am going to go to the club, get a workout in.

Then I'm going to meet Andre to get a new tux.

You don't have a tux?

Well, sure, I do, but it's a reminder

- of events I attended in the past. - Ah.

- I get it. - Yeah. I want a pristine tux

to go with the new memories, starting with a memento

of my wedding to Shanice.

- I totally understand. - Mm-hmm.

Ah. And just when I thought you couldn't

- get any more romantic. - [chuckles]

Here's something a little stronger than tea.

- Thanks. - [door closes]

I am so sorry for bringing this drama.

- Where's Vernon? - He's on his way.

Okay, do you mind if we get started?

Okay, everyone, we need

to put our heads together and figure out

how we're going to save Martin's political career.

Uh, babe, I think you misunderstood.

This strategy session isn't for me.

The whole family is gathered here

to figure out a way to clear your name.

I cannot be the priority,

not after Martin's public statement went sideways.

No, baby, winning the election would be a hollow victory

if you're not standing by my side

holding my hands on election night.

Looking pretty intense there, big guy. What you doing?

- Oh, just erasing my past. - [chuckles]

One pic at a time.

And enjoying a nice top-shelf 80 proof.

- Ah. - And I'm not hitting the gym later, either.

Ah. No birthday cake?

Oh, it's nice of you to remember.

Well, we were family for quite a few years, you know?

Ate a ton of Rowena's berry crumble.

- Mm. - Thank you.

I actually miss those days.

You know, sitting around talking, catching up.

- Being a part of the family text chain. - Yeah.

I actually had to find out from Shanice and Ashley

about Martin's press conference and Smitty getting arrested.

- If that ain't a kick in the pants. - Yeah.

Did you ever catch up with Martin?

Yeah, but he tried to call. I was tied up in surgery.

But the point is, not one Dupree thought about reaching out.

Hmm. Well, I was there, you know,

but just as a spectator, not a part of the inner sanctum.

Ooh, man, I tell you, when it comes to that Dupree family,

still looks like we're both on the outside looking in.

The evidence seems, well, damning.

So we're just going to face it head-on.

First, there's the security footage of Smitty meeting

with Max, the whistleblower,

a day before Smitty visited Lia in prison.

Second, in that footage, Max appears

to be handing over a distinct pouch

that was later found in Lia's cell.

And third, the pills found in your brownstone

match the substance found in the pouch, which means,

according to the police, that Smitty supplied the pills

that Lia used when she died by suicide.

But that's not what happened.

They're saying that it's evidence, but it's fake.

I know. It sounds like every B movie, but I am being set up.

Okay, but by whom?

The prime suspect is the Impaler.

Well, why would he go to all the trouble to frame Smitty?

Well, Smitty riled him up when he wrote all those articles,

and now he's being hunted nationwide.

But why didn't the Impaler just kill you?

- Naomi. - Ouch.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to be insensitive,

but wouldn't that be the easiest solution?

Because killing Smitty wouldn't kill the article.

It would shine a light on it,

and people would be clamoring for answers.

- But by discrediting him? - Then it ruins his reputation,

no one will hire him, and then

- the story fades away... - [phone buzzing]

and would be tarnished because no reporter

- will touch it. - Ah. Sorry.

This is my editor. I'll be right back.

Dani's got a good point.

And it perfectly aligns with the profile

that I created for Smitty on the Impaler.

If he feels threatened, he is going to lash out.

Well, Dani nailed it.

Instead of killing me,

the Impaler is killing my career.

- What happened? - I was nominated for an award

for my coverage of the Red Market,

and that nomination was just rescinded.

MARTIN: Oh.

Babe, I'm so sorry.

Don't rush out on my account.

I'm running late.

I'm meeting someone at my hotel.

No, you're not.

You're radioactive.

No one would be near you right now.

- Two whiskeys, neat. - On it.

Have a seat.

I'd like to tell you a story,

paint a picture, so to speak.

Okay.

You ever hear of a painter named Ertel?

Wasn't sure

if any of your conquests had been art lovers or not.

Well, Ertel painted these breathtaking landscapes.

Now, my friend Trevor... we called him Trevor Two Toes.

Don't ask.

Trevor owned one of these,

and he hung it right across from his desk

so he could look at it day and night.

This thing was majestic

in a nearly classical way.

That thing was Trevor's pride and joy.

Was?

I knew you'd pick up on that.

You're smart.

Trevor, not so much.

Trevor could never follow instructions.

So I had to teach him a lesson.

What? Uh

what did you do?

I made him destroy that painting he loved so much.

I tell you, it broke my heart

to see such a beautiful work of art

reduced to so many little pieces.

Now, what's this I hear

about you crashing Martin's press conference?

I swear, I don't need to learn a lesson.

I'm not looking to be floating in the Potomac in pieces.

Make me believe that.

The settlement money for my divorce...

It was transferred to my account,

so I'm going to bounce ASAP.

You realize it doesn't matter where you go.

There's no place you can hide.

You'd do well to remember that

the next time you want to hang around with reporters.

- What? - Orphey Gene's,

where you showed up earlier?

I didn't go to Orphey Gene's because of Martin's presser.

I went in there because I was craving biscuits. That's all.

Well, I'm glad to hear that.

Be a shame to destroy two beautiful works of art

in one lifetime.

HEATHER: Oh, Vanessa,

you're so good. The place in the Obsidian is perfect.

The garden, the rooftop patio,

oh, the location... it's just... it's perfect.

- Heather, it's important... - And the Portuguese tiling

- in the bathroom is to die for. - It is, but really...

And I can't believe how well-built it is.

Not like these other condos that they're just throwing up.

It's so private. I think

I could scream bloody murder, and no one would hear me.

Heather, there are a lot of other places

- I was going to show you... - No, it's not necessary.

That's the one I want.

Really? That quickly?

Well, why don't we look at a variety of places?

Vanessa, are you trying to talk me into

or out of buying a condo?

I'm explaining that the market in the DMV is tight.

It's important to have options in case your bid isn't accepted.

Well, I'm pretty sure

that if you can talk Joey into being your partner,

you can talk the condo owner into accepting my bid.

And you're authorized to double my offer if necessary.

- I'll do my best, but... - Oh, and that rainfall shower.

I think it's as big as the bedroom.

Oh, the fun I will have in there.

[laughs]

My favorite thing about the whole place, though?

The location.

We need to prove that the security footage is a deepfake.

The police have already had their experts analyze it,

but I want to get a digital forensics investigator

and an AI detection company to take a look at it.

I've already filed all the necessary paperwork

to get the footage from Metro.

We need to find Max, the other person

in the video footage with Smitty.

Well, who is this Max and where is he now?

Max was the one who first told me about the Red Market,

and he was then stabbed by one of the Impaler's goons,

so Jacob and I put him in witness protection.

But now he's gone, he's in the wind.

I'll contact my buddy, Assistant FBI Director Buchanan.

I'm sure he can help.

He's the one we went to when Chelsea was kidnapped.

Buchanan has access to resources and other agencies

- that we don't. - SMITTY: Okay.

He may be able to get some answers about Max.

Okay.

The pills that were found in the brownstone?

Planted, Naomi.

I believe you, but we need proof.

Had there been any maintenance

or delivery people in your house before Jacob's search?

Anyone that could have planted those pills?

- I don't think so. - Not within the last few weeks.

Okay, then we'll have our investigator canvass the area,

talk to some neighbors.

Maybe somebody will recall some suspicious activity.

Like what?

A vehicle that seems out of place. You never know.

Was there anything questionable about Lia's death,

other than suspecting that Smitty slipped her some pills?

Do the police think that there was foul play?

Not that I'm aware of.

Well, if the Impaler is setting Smitty up,

he might have prison personnel on payroll.

I'll get a copy of the autopsy report

and have an independent pathology consultant

take a look at it.

You know, I may request a second autopsy just to be safe.

Okay. Is there anything I'm overlooking?

You've done an admirable job, Naomi.

I do love to see you in action.

You are in excellent hands.

Well, we have a solid plan of attack.

I hope you can feel better about where things stand.

Well, usually, I leave the speech-giving to Martin,

but, um

there is something that I wanted to say.

After Naomi's fact-finding meeting,

I do feel more confident than ever

that the truth will prevail.

I know that the days ahead are not going to be easy.

There are going to be people that don't believe me.

But I can face that

as long as I know that everyone in this room does.

The love and support that I am feeling from everyone here

and family members that are not here

just fills my heart with gratitude.

You all... you're the ones

that are going to give me the strength to not give up.

And I love you.

Well, I can guarantee,

you will get an invitation to our December wedding.

So you proposed to Shanice?

- A couple of days ago in New York. - Ah.

And you're getting married in a couple of months.

I mean, don't the women like to. .. I don't know...

Like, shop and prepare, and prepare and shop and all that?

Not Shanice. I mean,

she didn't want a long engagement

and was crazy about the idea of a Christmas wedding.

And me... I can't resist trying to make her dreams come true.

I... understand your concern, though.

Oh, no, I-I wasn't trying

to project my situation with Hayley onto you and Shanice.

I know your fiance is nothing like my ex.

Shanice is unlike any other woman.

Huh. Hmm.

Well, here's to a long and happy marriage.

- I'll drink to that. - Yeah.

Mrs. Gardell is just lonely.

She wanted me to fluff her pillows

like this is some grand hotel, and we are the housekeepers.

From your fianc.

[mouthing]

Aw. Even when he is having a bad day,

he takes time to make me feel special.

Ashley, he is such a gem.

- That is so lovely. - [sighs]

And you better believe I am planning

- on returning the favor tonight. - Mm.

Get his mind off the family not telling him

about the whole Smitty situation.

Can you believe what's going on?

What? That Ted's son-in- law was arrested for Lia's death?

No. At least,

I don't want to believe that it's possible.

Smitty isn't a killer.

Well, we also didn't think Lia would be the type

to get mixed up in an illegal organization,

but she ran one right up under our nose.

In any case, I'm just glad

that Smitty has an excellent lawyer.

Oh, yeah. My bestie is amazing.

But it must be so hard for Jacob and Naomi

to be on opposite sides of the case.

Yeah.

You are a mind reader.

Heather found a condo.

Really?

Three blocks from you.

- [sighs] - I planned to show her listings

in the M and V of the DMV,

but she wouldn't take no for an answer.

And she's willing to pay way over asking, too.

Classic Heather.

The deal hasn't closed yet, though,

so I can try to dissuade the owner from accepting her offer.

How do you want me to handle it?

The only thing I want you to handle tonight

is me.

? ?

[elevator dings]

Oh, God.

Twice in one day.

It must be fate... or is it?
