12 strangers trying to survive the jungle for two weeks.
Ohh! What is Sarah doing?
Hostile terrain that they will have to cross on foot.
Ahh! Whoa!
God, this is crazy!
Reach the end, and they'll share a prize of £300,000.
THEY CHEER AND WHOOP
But between them and the money...
It's a Greggs!
...they'll face a series of temptations...
...home comforts they'll be longing for...
This is a Newcastle thing.
...and luxuries beyond their wildest dreams.
No way!
Someone's won the lottery - us or them. Could be us.
But all of them come at the world's highest prices.
Two grand per person.
500 quid?! They need to be laced with gold.
Welcome to capitalism. Supply and demand.
I love KFC. I'd have everything.
I know it looks so delicious,
but for that price, it's not worth it.
And every penny they spend
will come off the group's shared prize pot...
I just went in and just started buying stuff.
...so if someone takes a temptation, everyone pays...
I've come out here with nothing.
If I go with nothing, I'm not losing anything.
That's why you don't care, because it's not your money.
...in an extreme test of willpower and loyalty.
I want to eat!
All they've got to do is say no.
I bet they don't.
I've never been offered this much money before.
It feels a bit criminal...
...but it also feels amazing! SHE LAUGHS
Can they conquer their own desires for the good of the group...
Do you not feel selfish?
You're sat there sucking on your chocolate in front of us.
Turn your back, Jennie, if you don't like it.
SHE SCOFFS Oh, my gosh.
CHEERING ...or will they live for today
and look after number one? That's a lot of money.
I just don't want to take away from anyone else, but I'm just...
That could change my life.
This programme contains strong language.
Hello! CHEERING
Previously on Tempting Fortune,
having only just met, the group was split in two.
Guys, I think just split down the middle.
Jennie's camp spent big at the jungle store...
Sorry, guys. I'm just going to take one outfit.
...while Sarah's half enjoyed a night of luxury.
Cheers, guys. Cheers, guys. Whoo!
After struggling at the start of the second trek,
Sarah opted for a taxi, costing the group prize pot £2,000...
Oh, my God!
...with a quick stop just before camp.
Steak bake. Steak bake?
And when she finally met the other group...
Did you go to Greggs? What's Greggs?
...it wasn't the happy reunion she might have hoped for.
You lied to our faces for ten minutes. There we go.
The experiment has started now, hasn't it?
Sarah, what was your reason for coming here?
Cos, like, I know most of my group, like, money is important to them.
I know that you're angry that we sent you on a long walk,
but we were saving £1,500.
My reason for coming is not about the money whatsoever.
OK. So, you don't care if people spend.
No.
I'm more nervous about taking a temptation now
because they don't trust me.
I'm not bothered what anybody wants to spend.
What are you here for, then? Challenge myself.
Challenge yourself, yeah.
I think they think I'm, like, the devil of the camp.
Is it going to go better
or is it going to go worse as the days go on?
We shall have to see.
Well, I don't even know
what my team-mates have been doing today.
You don't know, do you?
I don't think they'll take Greggs.
SHE GRUNTS
This is madness. Yeah, it's not easy.
Ahh! T, tell me you're struggling. I'm struggling like a bitch.
I'm not sure I'm ready for rice and beans at the end of this.
Don't think about that yet, please. It makes me feel a bit sick.
Just need a temptation.
I've never needed one so much in my life.
Tierney and the rest of her group
have nearly completed their 4.5km trek,
thoughtfully arranged by the others.
Camp is just around the corner. The finish line is in sight.
There's just one thing standing between them and it -
our favourite high street bakery.
From the British high street to the Malaysian jungle,
we've sent over sausage rolls, steak bakes,
sweet treats, and ice-cold drinks.
With £1,115 already in the till,
the remaining five fortune seekers,
who've been forced to walk the longer trek,
will be running on empty
and looking to satisfy that thirst and hunger.
It's a Greggs!
Let's go! Oh, my God!
Ahh!
That is insane.
A Greggs in the middle of a jungle.
Like, it's unheard of.
I'm actually going to cry.
Like, this is so good. Are you joking?
I feel like I'm hallucinating right now.
Like, I feel like it's all a mirage.
They are going to spend so much money, bro.
Watch, watch.
Shall we go? Do you reckon? Guys, come on, let's run!
Let's run. Let's run! Let's go! Let's run!
This is sick!
This is absolutely crazy.
Ohh! Oh, my God!
Oh, no! They've got the chocolate muffin that I like!
Oh, my God, they've got Diet Coke!
The prices are on there. 150 quid for a doughnut.
With any pastry, it's £100 for a drink.
A meal deal.
This is, like, my Lord and Saviour right here.
But look at the doughnuts! I know, that's what I'm looking at.
Look at the doughnuts!
Can I smell a vegan sausage roll without buying?
Can I also smell?
Oh, my God! Can I give it a...? Oh, my God!
What are we thinking, guys?
Look... Look, I think we just...
I'm not going to take anything, I don't think.
But let's not be ridiculous with it, OK?
What are you saying, Sam?
I mean, every bone in my body wants to jump up and down
and say, "Give me a vegan sausage roll."
But the prices...
I'm going to fold.
What are you two thinking?
I just want a drink. I need a drink.
I know, but we've got water, haven't we?
Oh, I need a Coke!
I'm not going to take anything.
My body hurts, I'm tired, I'm not eating,
so it's very tempting.
But it's only day two, so I'd rather save myself.
But it's so expensive.
I think I'm out. I think I'm out.
I can't... You're not getting anything?
I can't. I can't do it. I really want to, but I can't.
So, I'm happy to take a steak bake and a drink.
I feel like we are taking the piss a little bit. Look at the prices.
I can come across as quite a quiet person.
I think people think, "Oh, he looks young.
"He can be easily manipulated."
But if I'm not happy with something, I will be confrontational.
You'll know about it if I don't feel good about something.
They've just made us walk 4.5km up a steep incline for four hours.
Yeah, but we didn't give them the luxury camp last night either.
This is a Newcastle thing. Greggs is a Newcastle thing.
The track that we've been on
has been absolutely crazy diabolical.
We've been uphill for 4.5km in the blistering heat,
so I feel like I personally deserve it.
Can I get a steak bake and a full-fat can of Coke?
Of course you can. Thank you!
Ohh!
Thank you so much!
Help yourself to a drink. Just get it out the fridge?
Ahh! SHE GIGGLES
Oh, yeah, how I needed this.
Ohh!
Oh, fuck.
No, I feel like I need to go in the corner
and eat it away from yous.
Oh, my God.
Like, that is my weakness. I have a Greggs every day at home.
It was only 340... SHE CHUCKLES
...which in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot, so...
I could have got more,
so I think they should be grateful that I didn't.
Oh, wow.
I've never needed anything so much.
What do you think about...?
Cos it's only day two, in the future, like,
what's your strategy?
Just cross the bridge when we get to it.
The way she just threw herself into that Greggs is...
I've got some alarms going off in my head.
It's just taken my respect down a little bit.
This is my bread and butter right here.
But I feel like you could have waited two weeks till you got back.
I just feel like, as a group,
we've all been through the same thing today,
so for one person to take it, it's a bit greedy.
It's not the Greggs that's the thing.
It's the food. No. No, I get that.
But obviously, we kind of all knew what we were signing up for.
Yeah, I know that, but, like, you're eating the food and I'm not.
I know, but we're all in the same boat.
Do you reckon the others have been here?
I would be so annoyed if they've gone on that shorter trek
and they've came here and they've taken summat.
That would piss me off. Yeah. Uh-huh.
That trek today was the hardest thing I've ever done,
so if the other group have taken the temptation of Greggs
after 2km flat walk, I probably will be quite angry.
If we do reunite, things might get a bit dramatic.
A well-fed Tierney and her group are now heading to camp,
where all 12 fortune seekers will be reunited
for the first time in 36 hours.
Right, we need to finish this tent.
And there's a lot to catch up on.
Pull the mozzie net down the other side now
before you put the tarpaulin on.
That's it, Cressida.
OK. Right.
So, let's just pull it out. Is that in yet?
That is in. Do you want it to go any tighter?
Yeah, so we're going to have to re-tighten those.
I'm definitely a momma hen.
Um, hashtag bossy. SHE LAUGHS
My husband would say that I always put other people first,
and I take great pleasure in, like,
looking after people and treating people.
I would say I'm... I'm extremely resilient.
The last few years have been tough.
I lost my restaurant due to COVID.
Following that,
I had carbon monoxide poisoning from the place where I was working,
and this has led to hearing loss and tinnitus,
which is now why I wear hearing aids.
Pull the guide... Undo the guide rope, Lu. Sorry.
Undo the guide rope. I put that under...
I know, but I'm thinking we just... if we all pull
and then you pull the guide rope, yeah?
When you get to know her, she's feisty,
but she gets things done.
I think cos we've been divided, our camp trusts each other
and the other camp trusts each other.
It's going to be two totally different camps
coming together.
Mine are, like, the young ones and the life and soul, having fun,
and then we come into the other camp
where they were like bloody army leaders.
Like, "Right, get this done. Get this done.
"Do this, do that, do the other."
FOOTSTEPS CRUNCHING
Guys, this might be camp.
Sarah!
Sarah! Sarah! CHEERING
Ah!
Oh, my God!
Sarah! You look amazing! Oh!
You look so good! My family!
Whoo-hoo-hoo!
Hi, babe!
What's your name again? Just T. Yeah, just T. T. Just T.
Well, Jungle Jen they've been calling me.
Yvonne's been doing the laundrette.
Uh, Nico's done the cooking. Fucking great.
I love this. We've done the camp, which was...
It's hard setting that up.
Sarah, are you OK? Yes, darling.
Shall we all just catch up around the fire, guys?
Yeah. Come on.
With everyone back together, it's confession time -
who spent what and who's going to come clean.
Two days, it's been a long time.
It felt like forever.
So, how's your time been?
Rough. We trekked yesterday.
Then we slept on the floor - like, literally on the floor like this -
so that was quite tough.
But you understand why we did it? Absolutely.
Cos we didn't want to spend the money.
We thought the same, exactly the same,
like, what we did on the trek today.
We thought you wouldn't want it to come out of the prize pot.
Yeah. Like, we didn't do it for revenge.
We did it because we didn't want to spend £1,500.
Yeah, and that's fair.
Greggs, anything happen? Were you guys hungry?
I had a Greggs
because I've been really struggling with the food.
But aren't we all struggling with the food?
Yeah, we are all struggling.
So, what did you get? What did you get, then?
I had a chicken bake. OK. Did you get anything else?
I didn't get a drink. I didn't get a doughnut.
I told the group I took a Greggs temptation.
I think with my explanation,
people assume that I took one chicken bake,
but I took two chicken bakes
so people might think that I've lied.
If nobody comes to me,
I don't think it's necessary for me to stir the pot.
I'm just going to be a new day, clean slate. That's me.
I just needed something to let me continue the trek.
Anyone else?
Guys, should we eat? Cos it's getting late.
I didn't fess up to the Greggs because I just felt guilty.
The guilt just took over and I just thought,
"It's not going to upset them if they don't know about it."
But if they find that Greggs wrapper in my bag, I'm dead.
I don't think everyone can sort of trust each other yet
cos we haven't told the full truth.
I'm shocked about your group.
We thought you were going to take, take, take.
I was... I was so close to a Coca-Cola.
Yeah.
Yvonne had two pasties, so she's got one in her bag for tea.
Oh! THEY LAUGH
What didn't she tell us?!
INDISTINCT CHATTER
INDISTINCT CHATTER - Straight for the jugular! - Two.
She got two? Two.
Here. Thanks, babe.
SHE LAUGHS
Obviously, I took the Greggs temptation
and they don't know yet.
But what else could they be lying about, then?
I don't understand.
But I think there was lies, as well,
about Yvonne taking one when actually she's took two,
so I don't know how that's going to work when it all comes out.
I think it's all going to kick off.
So, basically, some people are lying.
I need to say something
because it's not the fact that she's taking two,
it's the fact that nobody else has spoken up about it.
I'm going to bring this up in breakfast
cos I can't trust any of them.
This morning, there's a bit of tension in the air
because of what happened last night.
There's a few people not telling the truth
about temptations they've taken.
My group has not been totally honest either.
I just don't know who to trust,
so I'm going to bring this all up this morning in breakfast.
I know we're in a completely different environment here.
We're in the jungle, wherever.
We were split into two separate camps.
We're going to have loyalties with each other,
but now we need to come together, cos last night,
I feel like there was kind of, like, some lies going on.
As a train conductor,
sometimes people try and get away with certain things,
like having the wrong ticket.
There was a time where someone just flashed the receipt at me
and I thought, "No, if everyone else is paying, so do you."
I'm quite a fair person,
but if I feel like someone's not being completely honest
and I've witnessed them not being honest,
then I will speak up.
And I kind of want to know the truth,
cos I know the truth about certain people,
and I want you guys to come forward and say what you've actually done.
Right, well, I did get a steak bake and a can of Coke
because I felt like I was going to die.
I found out that some people have told us what they've taken
but hadn't told us the extent to what they had taken, so...
Charlotte, if there's something in particular, just say it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah.
I said I took a Greggs temptation,
so maybe that's me not getting it very clear.
But then it's... It's either £300 or £600 you've taken.
My reason for coming here has been mainly money
because I am in huge debt,
so I literally can see why every penny needs saving.
Would the one not have been enough, do you not think?
Well, I did have one at first. Those who were there know that.
But then, actually, I still felt hungry.
No, I think you just got greedy. If... I think you just got greedy.
To be greedy would have been... To take two.
We've already had people taking temptations.
I really want to go home with something.
It could change my life.
And at this rate,
I feel like there's going to be nothing left.
Let me just explain why I'm here so you guys can know, right?
This prize pot at the end, right, is...
Oh, I'm going to get emotional. No. Come on.
It's... It's actually, like, life-changing.
So, when people take little treats and stuff,
it's just taking the piss.
That's how I see it.
And if we're going to take summat, fair enough -
just be honest about it. Yeah.
I can't deal with fakeness and I can't deal with lies.
Like, everyone needs to be honest.
Can I just add summat?
I did get given a steak bake off the medics...
...because they wanted to up my sugar intake. I'm sorry.
When does a medic ever give you a pasty?
I've heard of glucose tablets.
A pasty?
I mean, next time I'm sick, I'm finding that paramedic.
Does it come out as a temptation?
I think so. That's fine.
But, Sarah, is this going to happen every time, do you think?
SARAH SIGHS I don't know.
I think they believe me.
I sort of partially... partly fessed up,
but I hope they don't find out about the doughnut.
I only ate half of it. The other half is still in my bag.
I want to know people's reasons to why you came.
What about you, Lucy?
So, me and my wife, um, have been trying to have a baby.
Obviously, the pot's come to the end
and we haven't managed to conceive yet,
so we want to start IVF again.
So, yeah, the money, for me, is really, really important.
See, these are the reasons why you need to take into consideration.
Yeah.
With trust in the group in short supply,
it's time to instil a bit of order.
Good morning!
THEY ALL GREET ROB Hello, everyone!
Hello!
Gather round. How are you, though?
Are you OK? No.
No? What's wrong? Rice and beans.
The worst thing is the food?
The heat. Lack of sleep. Right. OK.
I'm going to improve the mood. I've got great news for you.
THEY EXCLAIM
It's a camp day, which means no trekking!
THEY CHEER
But? Well, there is a "but", but it's not a bad "but".
The only job you've got to do is you need to pick your first leader.
OK.
And then once you've picked your leader,
send them to me, cos we need to talk.
Good luck, guys.
Everyone, do you not think...? I think Jennie.
I second that. Yeah. I third that.
Guys, Jennie. Jungle Jen. I'm fine with that.
I think Jungle Jen. Jen is great.
Thank you. That's so kind of you, and lovely. Thank you.
Would you prefer "the boss"?
No! SHE LAUGHS
Jen of the Jungle. Let's keep it at Jen of the Jungle.
It's a fresh start.
Jennie's been chosen to lead the group,
so time to see how strong her willpower is.
This is the jungle ice cream cart,
filled with all their frozen favourites from back home.
Will Jennie hold firm for the group, or will temptation prove too sweet?
I'll tell you what, that is hitting the spot, you know.
That's lovely.
Oh.
Hi, Jennie. Hello.
You're the first leader,
and being a leader does have its perks.
OK. So...
...Jennie... Yeah. ..take your pick.
It's on me. Free.
We've got Magnums.
Have a look. We've got Magnums. We've got Oreo.
No, thank you.
I wouldn't take something that the rest of the group can't have.
It's not fair on the others. You won't take... What, for nothing?
No. I would never do that.
Really?! No. OK. Well...
Would you? Yeah. Would you?
I've just had one. They're well nice.
There is an option, as well. OK.
Whatever happens, you can have a free one. Mm.
But the secondary option is you could take 11 back to camp...
OK. ..for a price. Right.
And how much would that be? £5,000.
Absolutely not. How ridiculous. What would be a fair price to you?
£50.
That's cheaper than normal.
What about 4,000?
No.
No? No.
3,000.
Absolutely not.
1,500.
No! That's the best deal I can do.
No, we've had a conversation about spending.
I know that the camp are going to back me.
Jennie, you're a strong leader. Good luck. Thank you.
Thank you very much. Thanks for coming to my gelato store.
You're really welcome. Enjoy. I will.
Think of the calories!
Good luck with the washing.
I'm quite confident that they are going to respect my decision.
I made it on the basis of a group, not, you know,
one or two individuals that probably would have liked a sweet treat.
I also hope it might build that camp morale,
like, "Yay! We've resisted another temptation!"
Hi, guys!
Hi, Jungle Jen. Hey! Hello!
As your leader, I was offered a temptation.
I was offered an ice cream for free...
Free? Yeah? ...for me, which I turned down.
But it's free. It's free!
No, because I didn't want to have anything
that you guys weren't going to have, OK?
Thank you. That's why you're our leader.
Then I was offered 11 ice-creams
to take back to camp for a price of £5,000.
What?! No way. He tried to tempt me several times.
He went as low as £1,500 and I said no.
So, I'm sorry that I haven't brought ice creams back to camp.
That's fine. Well done.
You should have had the free ice cream.
No, no.
Would you have taken the free one? I would have taken the free one.
I absolutely agree with her
that she shouldn't have spent that money
on all of their ice creams.
However, where I kind of don't agree with her
is if I was offered a free ice cream right now,
I would take it.
Why would you not?
Could have done with an ice cream.
There's no trek today,
but Jennie needs to marshal the troops...
Let's just wipe over the lids and around the lid.
...as there are chores to be done.
We need a dishwasher, don't we? CRESSIDA LAUGHS
Day three, where are you at?
I've found it a lot harder than I expected.
The hike has been way more intense than I ever would have realised,
especially when you have the heat, as well.
What do you think?
It's hard work...
but there's something about that that I get a real kick from.
I have been working as a diplomat for ten years,
developing deals and partnerships,
and had a really happy decade in the Foreign Office.
But last year, something happened that really reinforced
what's important in my life, so I decided to take a step back
and think about what's most important to me.
Because now I know that life is short,
I really have to live for the moment and make every moment count.
That was good. Yeah. Good afternoon's work.
With honesty the topic of conversation this morning,
it's time to see who was paying attention.
Oh, hi, viewer.
Welcome to the Dishonesty Bar -
the most overpriced bar in the jungle.
How this works is you come in, buy yourself a drink,
pop your name in the ledger.
Or you come in, buy yourself a drink, and don't tell anyone.
You keep it to yourself.
And, yes, it will come off the prize pot.
Naughty, naughty.
Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no, no... Dropping it here.
...no, no, no, no, no, no! Come on.
"Welcome to the honesty bar.
"If you would like a drink, help yourself.
"Any drink you take will be charged at the prices on the drinks menu."
OK.
"This is an honesty bar,
"so if you take a drink,
"you can write your name in the ledger... or not."
I just look at Sam,
and I think I can see it in his eyes straight away.
Let's have a look. Let's have a look.
Champagne!
Guinness, as well.
A bottle of lager is 300 quid.
Then we get to our wines.
400 for red, white, and rose.
Oh, my God, rose with an ice cube in it.
Thought going through my head is,
"I really want this. I really want this.
"I really want this."
But it's a lot of money. It's a lot of money for two drinks.
Fuck.
I... What do you think? You tell me what you think.
I've got an answer in my head. I just want to see what you do.
HE CHUCKLES Uh...
I'm going to say...
...for me, it's a yes. Yeah. Yeah, I think so, as well.
THEY LAUGH
Well, I'm getting an ice-cold Corona, mate.
What are you getting? I'm going to get the rose. Yeah.
This... is my style. An ice-cold... I love a Corona, too.
Cheers.
Oh!
HE SIGHS
I've got, like, endorphins kicking off. Yeah.
It's not even about the beer for me, or the rose.
It's about just having time with you.
Yeah. Just... You know what I mean? Chilling.
This is what's going to get us through.
So, the reason I'm here is to have the time of my life.
Absolutely, man.
I had a really tough time last year
and I was diagnosed with anal cancer.
Yeah.
Um, went through quite a severe treatment, and that was brutal.
That was tough. Yeah.
I'm really sorry you had to go through that.
I was diagnosed out of the blue with cancer in January last year
and went through a few months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy...
...which was really hard work.
And there were moments where I was in extreme pain.
I can remember being in tears
walking to my radiotherapy treatment,
being overtaken by, uh,
80-year-olds with their shopping trolleys.
Having cancer has made me realise
that it's really important to live every day like it matters.
Every single day is a precious gift.
I appreciate that, man. Thank you for opening up about that.
This was, like, the dream that I didn't have
when I was going through the treatment.
Complete contrast, isn't it... Yeah. ..from that time to this?
Yeah. So, let's make the most of it.
I actually think most of the others would support this.
I think it's important for us to not be honest on this one.
I feel like telling people we've done this
will be detrimental to the group,
cos it'll encourage people to, uh, give in.
Cos then, if we say,
"Oh, we've had a drink," and everything...
You're kind of getting in my head now.
You think we should be honest?
I do. The foundation of the camp is honesty.
We've got to live with these people.
I want to be able to look them in the eye.
I was thinking in my head
that maybe lying would be the best idea,
but I do think Sam has made me realise
that telling the truth is the best policy.
But I don't want them to think
that we are going to betray everyone
and that we're in it to spend everyone's money.
We're going to get to camp drunk! SAM LAUGHS
Oh, my days.
I'm worried when I get back that I stink of booze
and I'm giggling like a schoolgirl,
and therefore trying to not tell them the truth
would be quite a difficult thing to do.
HE LAUGHS
Oh, my God. What does the jungle do to you?
Are we waiting on the boys to bring the wood?
The boys bring the wood?
They've been gone for about five hours.
Clearly not very good at wood cutting, are they?
Hello, guys. Hi. Where have you been?
Yo, that took a while. We've...
We've done a bit of a trek getting some wood.
We've got some news to tell you.
Oh. Me and Sam have just given in to a temptation.
We got two drinks.
We could have taken as many as we wanted,
and we picked the cheapest off the menu.
We spent 700 total.
Wow.
So, you guys decided, rather than all of us together,
you decided to do it separately.
Couldn't you have done that at home and had, like, 25 beers?
You're completely right,
but we wanted to experience it in the jungle.
We didn't know each other at home.
You've just spent how much, £400? £400.
£400. On a glass of wine.
So, what's the most expensive bottle of wine you've ever bought?
Look, I don't want us to get angry about this.
I'm asking. I just want you to answer the question.
I guess, like, £40, £50, £60. That's the most expensive?
But it's also not my money. It's the shared prize pot.
Exactly, but that's... It's the shared prize pot.
That's why you don't care, Sam.
That's why you don't care, because it's not your money.
If it was your money, I don't think you'd be spending this much money.
I do care, and if you're going to stand by that...
I don't think you do. I just don't get it.
I don't understand.
I just feel a bit, uh, guilty.
Um, it's not... I'm just more upset with myself.
Like, it's just not me.
I just feel like this experience can just...
...can do things to you, you know?
It's only day three.
You make a decision like this early on,
then people draw conclusions about you and get...
...they get a misrepresentation of the real you.
And, um...
...just... we didn't even have a trek today.
Like, why am I giving in to a temptation?
You all right, mate?
Feeling guilty, bro. How come?
Maybe we could have spent more money in a better way, you know?
Ooh!
Morning, darling. Morning.
Guys, we need to hurry up! We've got to get on the move.
Oh, fucking hell.
A new day, a new dollar,
and today, the fortune seekers face their grimmest challenge yet.
To reach their next camp, they'll be wading through kilometres
of dense, deep, disgusting swamp water.
And after turning down the ice cream temptation,
Jennie has another opportunity
to provide her group with some light relief.
This looks minging, doesn't it?
"Your group are about to undertake
"a gruelling wade through the mangroves to your next camp.
"If you wish to lighten the load,
"you may have the group's bags transported to camp.
"The price is fixed at £500."
The decision is mine.
Huddle around, huddle around.
So, I've been given a temptation
whether or not we take our bags with us or we use the bag drop.
Uh, the cost was £500 for the whole group...
...so I've taken it. CHEERING
Thank you. Thank you.
The group may have a lighter load,
but the Malaysian mangroves are not for the faint-hearted.
SHE SCREAMS
Fucking hell.
SHE RETCHES
Guys, there's just no easy way round.
You've just got to do it.
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh!
Oh, my God.
SHE RETCHES
Oh, my God.
Everything around here is rotten.
The heat, it's like the sun's blaring down on wor.
This just reeks.
Like, I just keep thinking someone's farted or something,
but, no, it's not.
It's literally just the ground.
Oh, guys. Massive bit of swamp coming up.
Look at all that water.
Look how deep it is.
Oh, no. Oh, I don't know if I go! Eugh!
It's all right, Lu. It's all right.
Listen, guys, no drama.
If I can do it, you can all do it.
Just get through as quick as you can.
Ah, ah!
Fuck's sake!
Whoa! Fuck!
Ah!
Ohh!
Keep your feet going. Try to keep your feet going.
Make sure nobody wees in the water
because you'll get fish that swim up you.
Oh!
Happy place, happy place, happy place, happy place!
Oh! Oh, my God.
This is horrific.
After hours of wading through the filthy mangroves,
by the time they get out,
they'll be in need of some serious TLC.
Welcome to the overnight spa.
Now, this is a bit of me.
We have luxury spa products, a waterfall shower,
plush double beds,
champagne, afternoon tea, and best of all, massage tables.
Oil me up like a hog on a roast and get my back done.
And we built all of this... in the middle of nowhere.
This is my worst nightmare, this. This is fucking hell.
Oh, my God, this is... Ahh! Ahh!
It's a fucking twig!
I just want to get out now.
Are we nearly at the end? Please fucking say we're nearly at the end.
Come on, guys. Let me get out.
I've been in here for fucking days, it feels like.
Ahh!
Get on there. Dry land. Get on there.
Such a good feeling! I'm so glad this is the end.
That was horrific.
After completing their mucky wade,
the first six fortune seekers are back on dry land
and about to face the ultimate pick-me-up temptation.
What is this?
Oh, guys, it's a spa.
TIERNEY GASPS
Champneys Spa! Are you joking me?
Look at the hot tub.
Are you being serious? Oh, my God, there's champagne.
There's massage beds. Oh, my God!
Oh, my God, there's air-con! There's beds.
Is there a massage? Yeah. Beds! There's beds!
Look. Is there massage? Guys, there's beds.
It just looked absolutely out of this world.
I'm knackered.
I'm full of shit.
I'd love a bed.
That would just recharge my batteries.
Mate, there's teddy bears!
I don't know how much better it gets than this for me,
to be honest.
This is everything.
I think there's conditioner, too.
Ah! There's conditioner?! I think there's conditioner.
It smells banging in here.
I'm 33 years old and I live with my dad.
Me and my dad are besties.
I come home, I have dinner made,
and I have a nice warm, bubbly bath every night.
I love it, so I'm a real-life princess.
"Welcome to the Champneys Wellness Spa Lodge,
"the ultimate luxury experience.
"The package includes an overnight stay,
"a 50-minute spa treatment, full spa access, afternoon tea,
"complimentary beauty products, and an express laundry service."
Fuck off.
"The price to stay at the lodge is 1,500 per person.
"The decision is yours."
This is a massive one. This is a massive one.
I'm not going to lie to you, I would absolutely adore this.
This would be heaven for me. Yeah, and me.
I come from little West Wales.
There's not that many spas around.
This is probably one of the best I've ever been to,
and it's in the middle of the jungle.
Oh, God!
After the day we've had, from the swamps to the hot tub.
Like, my feet are squelching
in my shoes right now with every step.
I want to do it.
This is a massive one.
1,500 per person.
It's a lot, man.
I want to do it.
Right. Really? Do you want to do it?
Yeah. I really do want to do it.
What, so you feel if you don't take this,
you can't carry on?
Cos you might need a taxi at a later date,
and that could be your taxi money. Yeah.
You don't need this.
I'm not taking it. OTHERS CHEER
Yes, girl! Yes!
Well done. Well done. Thank you. Thank you. I'm so proud of you.
Right. Shall we check out our camp, then, see what's here?
With the first six resisting the spa,
it's now up to the rest of the group to have their willpower tested.
Ooh!
Oh, my God.
That looks incredible! Champneys Wellness Spa!
SHE FEIGNS SOBBING, SAM LAUGHS
Wow!
Guys, here, here, here! Oh, look! They've got sandwiches!
Smoked salmon. I wanted a sandwich!
And scones! Scones!
Oh, Cres, look, it's made for you - scones!
No, don't cry. It's all right.
I go to Champneys at home all the time,
and I just saw it and I cried.
I cried and I cried.
SHE SOBS - Because it's amazing. - Wow.
I definitely like a bit of luxury in life.
The most I've ever spent on a treat for myself
has got to have been £20,000 on a spa week away.
But at the end,
you come back feeling amazing, and it was worth it.
I think it's really important for everybody to treat themselves.
For Jennie,
being camp chief means she's in for a treat of her own.
Oh, gosh.
"As leader, you get a free pass to the spa,
"and you get three guest passes at a discounted rate -
"£1,000 per pass."
SHE SIGHS
For me, this is the hardest one, cos I love a pamper.
I'm so hungry. Love a foot mask.
Afternoon tea is my favourite thing in the world.
When we've gone through such hardship,
the night's sleep is, like, immediately crying out to me.
My instincts are, say, to go for it. It'd boost my spirits.
Yeah, but are we going to do that every day?
Take a temptation and boost our spirits every day?
If you want to take it, take it. We're not really judging you.
I am. Honestly... No, no, Shaf. I am. I'm sorry, but I am.
For me, there's no need at this point,
so, for me, I don't even have to think of it.
Shaf, what do you think?
I'm not going to take it. No.
Lady C? I'm going to say no. OK.
I won't... I don't want a free pass
because, ultimately, I stand by what I say.
I don't want to take something that no-one else is taking,
so it's a no from me.
I'm not going to take it...
because I can't look everyone in the eye
and say that this is going to fulfil all of my desires
to have those once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
It's a no. Well done.
All 12 have said no to the spa, OK?
Which is a nightmare for us. We spent ages building it.
It's a nice one. It's overnight, as well.
So, just in case anyone changes their mind,
we're going to keep it open.
INDISTINCT CHATTER
Are you doing it? No, we're not. Come on, team!
Whoo! INDISTINCT CHATTER
Well done, mate.
That was tough.
That was so tough.
I really, really wanted to shower and something to eat.
Oh, my God. And a massage.
At home, yeah, I live for that.
Are you regretting your decision?
Yeah, I am.
I said no, the whole group said no.
I am regretting it a little bit now, to be honest,
because I'm covered in swamp water
and I feel like this would have kept me going
throughout the whole thing.
I think I was just trying to be strong in the moment,
but then when I actually think about it,
that would've probably kept wor going.
But then you think about the group, don't you?
I've taken nothing, as well. Yeah, I know.
And a spa thing was my kind of thing.
If we could have done it for a grand each...
Oh, yeah, I would have done that. 100%. 100%. Yeah.
Go and do it, then. No, no, no, no, no.
All I'm saying is people have taken two outfits costing £1,000.
Yeah.
Yeah, but the £1,000 comes if Jennie takes it for free.
Huh? What do you mean? What do you mean?
So, if Jennie takes her free position,
she can take in three guests for £1,000 each.
Whoa! We didn't know that. Jen, man.
No, no. I didn't want to take a free pass.
We literally said if it was 1,000 each...
We would have done it.
But he's nodding his head saying no. You're nodding your head, babe.
You sat and took a fucking beer yesterday.
I'm saying I'd never take it. That's all I'm saying.
Right. OK. Yeah.
Let's be real.
It's not a grand, cos it's three grand.
Cos if you bring one person in, you need three to get the deal.
If you took it... You'd take it. ..I'd take it, yeah.
Shall we go and have a chat?
Yeah, let's go have a chat.
I wanted this whole experience to be fair,
and I just feel like it's not fair.
If they do decide to take it,
I'd rather you go in, Jen, with them,
because then it at least saves a little bit of the money.
Jen! Yeah?
Come over. I knew this was going to happen.
All right, listen, I'm going to be honest, right?
And it's quite... This is quite hefty on my shoulders, right?
Yeah. I'm never going to take a free pass,
but obviously I've just spoken with the group
and they're saying they want me to take it
so that then you get the cheaper thing.
Let's do it, guys.
I've just heard what they've just said.
Sorry, guys.
Something I wanted.
Hate me, love me - it is what it is, right?
Are you and me together, front row.
I promise you. I promise you, OK?
I can't even look them in the eye.
Is Jen going? Jen, are you going?
Well, I've got to.
If I don't go, they don't get the cheaper rates.
I'm home! We can have a glass of champagne.
THEY LAUGH
We deserve this. We've not taken anything.
I need it. I need it. I need it.
Ahh! SHE LAUGHS
I feel shocking right now.
I've been pushed into a situation, being the leader, to save money...
...and I feel really guilty that I'm here.
With Charlotte, Tierney, Cressida, and Jennie unable to resist,
the spa has already cost the group £3,000,
and there's still plenty of room to welcome more guests.
Forking out the price for that...
You could go abroad for two weeks for that.
You get a lot. You get a lot. Mental, innit? You do get a lot.
I just feel like they don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.
It's true.
And that's who we're living with.
This is just selfish, greedy, inconsiderate.
We're supposed to be a team.
The opportunity of being in a spa
in the middle of the Malaysian jungle
is a once-in-a-lifetime.
I would love food. I'd love a bed.
A glass of champagne.
Lady C, do you want to do the honours?
CORK POPS, THEY CHEER
And I've turned it down, like an absolute knobhead.
Oh, my God, that's so good. Oh! That's so good.
Oh! How is it, Lady C?
Sarah, are you going in there?
I've made the wrong decision.
Next time on Tempting Fortune...
THEY CHEER
The cracks are starting to show. We need to be wary.
I think you're being fucking greedy.
Oh, no. Guys!
There's a KFC in the middle of the jungle.
I'd have the full bucket to myself. I'd have everything.
If I do need help on a trek, I'm taking it.
I'm telling you... No, you're not "telling me".
No, you're not "telling me".
Oh, shit.
Oh, my word! I can't get out.
