What if Alexander follows me here?

Mary...

Alexander is not real

I don't want to hear that name again

That's ye

It's not a bad place to stay for the winter, eh?

I'll see ye both come spring

If you need me I'll be down the hallway

Get some sleep

I'll show you around the house in the morning

Good Night Beautiful

This is the drawing room

Important guests are entertained here after their dinner

It's also used by the family for afternoon tea

If you follow me...

Wait until you see this

The bedrooms are upstairs

I'll show you them later

You'll be blown away when you see them

Some of them are as big as our house

Can we sleep up there?

Instead of the servants quarter?

Mary, no...

They're trusting us to look after their house

We'll be in big trouble if they ever find out

Let's continue...

There's fifteen bedrooms and bathrooms in the house

It puts into perspective how big it is

It's going to be a big job looking after it

What's in here?

Oh... that's the library room

There are so many books...

I know how much you like reading

But like the bedrooms

That room is off limits...

Follow me...

This is the dining room...

where we will be eating from now on

So what do you think?

I like it...

This is our home until Spring

This is delicious Mary

I tried to make it like Mammy's stew

It tastes just like it

I miss her

I miss her too

Is that clean enough?

Yes

You can come down now

Do you want me to clean those windows too?

I'll do them

Start preparing dinner

What do you have there?

I found this in my wardrobe

I had one just like that when I was younger

But...

It wasn't there yesterday

Don't worry about it

Get back to your work

Go on...

Don't be afraid

Bless us O God as we sit together

Bless the food we eat today

Bless the hands that made the food

Bless us O God

Amen

How do you find the house so far?

I love it...

That's good

Me too

If we keep on top of things

The Fitzwilliams will be impressed with us

We'll be able to continue the same work we're doing now

But there will be other people here

and it will be easier...

It won't be as cold either

What do you think of that?

If we save up enough money...

We can move back to Belfast...

Isn't that right?

There's nothing there for us anymore Mary...

What about my friends?

and the farm?

and now that things are getting back to normal...

I'll be able to go back to school...

Things have changed Mary

It won't go back to how it was before...

This is how it is from now on...

Right now the most important thing...

is that we are alive and well...

and together...

Mary!

I'm coming now, Dad

When I come back, they better be spotless

Make a start to the stables when you're finished

Are you okay?

I think I chopped my fucking toe off

This is a fucking disaster...

A fucking disaster!

Alexander is back...

but...

Stop with this nonsense!

There are no such thing as ghosts

I'm sorry...

Go to bed

Go!

Daddy?

Daddy?

Daddy?

Daddy

Don't be afraid

Good morning, Princess

Good morning, Daddy...

Did you sleep okay?

What were you doing last night?

I went to your bedroom last night...

and you weren't there...

Mary?

What's wrong?

What's wrong Mary?

This is Alexander's doing

Do you believe me now?

I screamed for you

and you weren't there

You promised to always protect me

and you didn't

I'm so scared

You're okay

You're okay

How are you feeling?

Better...

My tools are in the second shed on the left

when you enter the courtyard

Be careful when you're using them

First of all...

cut some wood...

and bring it inside...

while it's dry

I have a feeling...

that it will rain...

okay...

I'll be here if you need me...

Thank you, Mary

Mary

Mary

You wanted me?

Get another bottle from the cellar for me

What type?

Anything...

Get anything for me

Fine...

Ahh-wah!

Hmm.

Good Morning Daddy...

Daddy?

Are you okay, Daddy?

Mary!

Mary!

Get me another drink!

Don't be afraid

You took your time

I went as fast as I could

You didn't see Alexander down there?

What?

I have you sussed out, Mary

I was in your room

I found a knife under your pillow

Your wrists

The bruises

You're doing it to yourself

I'm not?

Why are you saying this?

Because you're an attention seeking little cunt...

That's why...

I may not give you the same attention your mother gave you

But stop with the same old fucking story

Alexander this... Alexander that...

Fucking grow up

Daddy...

I'm not telling lies...

Leave...

Get out!

Daddy?

What is it, Mary?

How is your leg?

This stupid fucking game...

Daddy

Are you okay?

I'm fine... pick that up

I can't keep doing everything by myself

Is your leg not feeling any better?

Mary it's only been a few days...

these things take weeks to heal

Daddy...

It's been four weeks

No, it hasn't Mary

It has...

What are you talking about?

Huh?

I saw you in the garden last night

Mary

You are out of your mind

I can barely move my leg

What are you saying?

That you saw me in the garden?

I saw you standing by the forest...

and how is that even possible?

Huh?

Tell me...

Huh?

Tell me...

I saw you

This is one of your fantasies again

Just like Alexander

It's all in your head!

It's not real

You need to stop drinking

I'm taking this

Don't you dare speak to me like that

I am your father

Mary?

Are you okay?

You know I didn't mean to hurt you...

Don't cry...

You're okay...

I just want to help you Daddy...

I didn't mean to be disrespectful

I know...

I'm sorry, Mary...

I don't know what happened

Are you okay?

I love you more than anything...

It's okay Daddy...

Would you look at that, Mary...

It's as if there was nothing wrong in the first place...

Amazing how the body heals itself so fast...

Fucking lazy...

Did you not do anything I told you to do?

The stables are a mess

The roof is about to collapse...

because the gutters are that full

I'm not even going to start on the state of the courtyard

I did everything you told me to do

You did everything I told you to do?

Are you calling me a liar?

No

What were you doing?

Praying?

Ah so that's what you've been doing instead of working

That's not the daughter I raised

Do you think God will save us?

Huh?

Do you think he is listening to your prayers?

He didn't listen when your mother needed him

What makes you think it will be any different now?

Where did you get that?

I made it?

You made it?

That explains it

I trust you one time

One time

One fucking time Mary

and you let me down!

We have a job to do here Mary

Do you understand?

I don't think you understand the severity of this

Our livelihood and future relies on the work we're doing

If they were to come back today

We'd be back living on the streets

Do you want that?

Is that what you want Mary?

That's it...

There will be no fucking Christmas this year

We don't have any time...

to waste

I do fucking everything for you

and this is how you repay me?

You are...

You're as lazy as sin

Wouldn't it be nice

If we all had time to waste...

Building crosses...

For our God

Our Lord and Saviour

Yes

Why don't we do that

Yes

Maybe if we show him enough appreciation

He'll look after the house for us

Oh that's a great idea Mary

That's a really great idea my girl!

Daddy? Is everything okay?

Daddy, stop

Stop, I'm scared

Don't be afraid!

Ahh Mary

I'll let you out in twenty minutes to start making dinner

Okay?

How long does it take to make?

An hour and a half

Two hours?

Good stuff

That will give me enough time to begin work on the roof

I'll be back in two hours

and then I'll let you out

-Oh, fuck.

I'm doing this for your own good

Don't make a noise

Hello?

Oh, Hello?

Did you get lost?

I'm here on behalf of the Fitzwilliams

to check on the property

To make sure everything is okay

Uh...

Everything is fine

I'm happy to hear that...

What's with all the crosses?

It's a hobby of mine

Is that right?

How do you and your daughter find it here?

My daughter?

-Mm-hmm.

She's not here?

Oh?

I was led to believe she was staying here with you?

She was... she was... she was...

She became very ill

and now she is staying with my mother in law

Leave my horse in the stables

I'm going to have a look around the house

So what do you think?

I'm impressed

Bless us O God as we sit together

Bless the food we eat today

Bless the hands that made the food

Bless us O God

Amen

Is everything okay?

The potatoes aren't cooked properly

they're a bit hard

Do you want them mashed up?

You don't spend much time in the kitchen?

Do you?

I'm only taking the piss out of you

I'm here to inspect the house...

Not your cooking

I'm impressed with you

This is a huge undertaking

Yes... it is

Especially looking after it all...

by yourself

Correct

You don't mind if I stay the night?

It's getting late

and the winds are picking up

Ahh, you have the bed made for me

That's how Mary left it

Do you need anything else?

No, thank you

Great

I'll talk to you in the morning

I'll see you then

Good night

Good night

Éamon!

Are you there?

Are you okay?

He's gone

The bad man is gone now

He was trying to take you away from me

He was

He was

Oh Mary, you're okay

Ugh!

Whoo!

-Aah! Aaaah!

Can you wear your mother's dress

for dinner tonight

There's nothing else I want more in life

but to have dinner and dance with her...

one more time...

Mary

You're so beautiful

You look more and more like her every day

Shall we dance?

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid

Alexander?

Daddy?

Don't be afraid!

Don't be afraid!

Mary

Alexander isn't real

I know...

but I wish he was...
