JONATHAN LAPAGLIA: Four years ago, the heart of the outback was witness
to one of Australian Survivor's most iconic battles...
..Brains versus Brawn.
Go, push it!
But while they physically dominated...
(CHEERING) Come on!
..in the end, Brawn were crushed into the red dust...
..and a Brain stood victorious.
The battle was won, but the war rages on.
And this time, Samoa bears witness.
A breathtaking paradise meets nature's full force.
Here, the next generation of Brains and Brawn take up the fight...
..and the rematch starts now.
As an Olympic athlete, we understand what it takes to fight
and never give up.
It's something I do every day.
COMMENTATOR: Morgan Mitchell kicks it up another one
and will power to the line.
I'm a three-time national champion.
I've made three world championship teams, two Commonwealth Games,
and two Olympic Games.
I'm definitely very sweet on the outside,
but just don't poke this bear, 'cause you'll regret it.
(LAUGHS) Don't try me.
I'm not scared to be physical. I'm a tackler.
Nothing feels better than laying someone on the ground.
While football is a big part of my life,
I've always been in the shadows of my family.
When people think of the Noonans,
they think of my dad and my three older brothers.
And then there's me, and nobody knows who I am.
Being on Survivor is carving out my own identity,
and I'm excited to shove it in their face
that this is the only Noonan everyone else will remember now.
JONATHAN: Their raw physical power...
..is matched only by their extreme passion to win.
Representing Brawn has always been something that I'm about.
Being physically strong, being in shape,
being fit and not just painted-on muscles.
The muscles work.
# Yeah Real talk... #
So, my biggest misconception would be
that people wouldn't see the intelligence.
# Facts... #
Most people would hear 'rapper', they hear "hip-hop artist",
they would think rappers as being dumb.
But as soon as I start talking, they're like, "Ah, shit."
That's why a few said,
"Hey, you could've been on the Brains tribe."
And I very well could have been.
# Look at me, I'm bad. # Morning, everyone.
Nice to meet you.
Every single day apply to two words a day. Learning.
So today I learned acumen. So sales and business acumen.
And then the other one was sublime.
Look, being out here, we won't have access to new words and reading.
I will have access to push-ups and pull-ups.
So, being able to go up against the Brains
and also having brains myself, it's game over, baby.
JONATHAN: This generation of Brawn are here to settle the score.
But to take the crown...
..they'll need to dethrone...
..the Brains.
A tribe of intelligent social players...
..strategically cunning...
..they are the masters of their craft.
I knew I needed to be a doctor, probably in utero,
because brown parents.
Done about eight years of university to get to where I am.
I'm on the Brains tribe because I'm a doctor.
I'm smart. I know that.
But I work in orthopaedic surgery.
It's the brawniest speciality you could get.
Which means I'm the full package.
This island's got drama, thrill, and action, just like a film.
And all those elements are cooking here.
As a director, I'm an ideas man.
And action.
And just like the island, when you have an idea,
you have to pitch it to the right people to get it across.
That's how I've nailed jobs and I've got green lit.
Just like my last film had Antonio Banderas,
I think that's how I'll win this game.
I'm here to have fun. I'm here to create drama.
Back in the day, it was called shit-stirring.
My fiancee thinks I'm the world's best gaslighter.
It's something I hold true, I think. I'm a title holder.
JONATHAN: Their insight is their greatest asset,
where every move is calculated.
When I found out it was Brains versus Brawn,
I was absolutely stoked
because I'm right at home on the Brains tribe
and I'm ready to kick some Brawn ass.
I'm a financial analyst dealing with big-money clients.
Some would say I'm a bit of a freak in the sheets.
I use a lot of spreadsheets.
I love working with numbers, both, like, in work and in life.
I also pole-dance.
It's one of my hobbies I like to do.
I love competition.
I have had to learn how to tone down my competitiveness
at board game nights.
I'm a strategy nerd.
I love the game of Survivor.
I think it's the ultimate strategy game.
And I'm here to prove that I can play
the best game in the world and play the best at it.
JONATHAN: The age-old rivalry will once again be put to the test.
When people see me, they see muscle.
I mean, who doesn't love being strong?
Bring on the rematch.
JONATHAN: Two tribes, two opposing game plans.
Being a Brain means we aren't relying on veins in our arms,
we're relying on veins in our head.
And this primary school teacher is going to be using his brain
to teach those Brawn a lesson.
I even wore my trusty playground duty hat,
so they're all gonna know exactly who I am...
Oh!
..on the island.
JONATHAN: Only one will outwit,
outplay,
and outlast all the others
to take home the half-million dollar prize.
47 days, 24 people, one Survivor.
Let's go, Brains.
Come on in.
Oh, my God! Oh, my God!
(EXCITED CHATTER)
There he is. There he is.
There he is. The man, the myth, the legend.
Oh.
Loving the hat. Thanks, JLP.
I'll swap you.
Ready, Brawn? Oosh!
Come on, Brawns. (ENTHUSIASTIC SHOUTING)
Let's make some noise. Whoo!
OK. Look at this. Hello.
This is crazy.
Ah!
Hello.
JLP!
Welcome to the rematch of
Australian Survivor: Brains Versus Brawn.
Over in the red corner, we have the Brains.
Whip smart and strategically savvy,
your mind is your greatest weapon out here.
And over in the blue corner, we have the Brawn tribe.
(ALL CHEER)
Physical beasts and pillars of power,
getting the job done is what you're all about.
(SQUEALS)
Woman in the front here with the blue vest, what's your name?
I'm Noonan. Noonan?
Oh, it sounds so good to hear him say it.
Really? (ALL LAUGH)
Noonan.
It actually rolls off the tongue. I actually quite like it.
Thank you. Yeah.
So, Noonan, the Brawn tribe comes into this season
with something to prove.
Is that intimidating? No, not at all.
I think we've all practised our baking skills at home
and ready to serve some humble pie to those people over there.
Gentlemen in the back with the brown hat, what's your name?
Hi, I'm AJ.
AJ, if we could run this Brain versus Brawn experiment,
I don't know, say, like, 100 times,
what do you think the outcome would be?
Uh, if I ran the numbers, I'd say...
If I'm going to be honest, I'd say 50/50.
50/50? AJ!
(ALL PROTEST)
Hey, hey, hey, hey. You don't want to...
You don't want to say you're 100%, you look bad.
Woman in the front here with the green and white dress,
what's your name? Indy.
Indy, there's a lot of biceps on display over on the Brawn tribe.
So, how do you think the Brains are going to deal with that?
Can I just say I expected everyone on the Brawn side to be, like,
way fitter and faster and stronger than me.
I did expect that. That's OK.
She's brutal.
Gentleman with the black baseball cap backwards, what's your name?
Me? Yes.
Nash.
Last time we had this match-up between Brains and Brawn,
Brains dominated.
So should Brawn just pack up their gear and go home?
Nah. It's a whole different team out here, mate.
And we're about to kick some butt. We're ready to go hard.
Bring her on. Let's go.
Alright. Look, it's only day one,
but I am loving the competitive spirit between the two tribes.
But this is Survivor, and there is only one crown.
That means only one of you will walk out of here with the title
and the half-million dollars that goes with it.
Will it be a Brain? Will it be a Brawn?
We'll find out in 47 days.
Whoo! Whoo-hoo.
Now, before we get started, you're gonna need one of these.
(ALL CHEER)
Oh, shit! Oh, yes.
(ALL SHOUT AND EXCLAIM)
Buffs on, boys! Yeah!
Start it up, baby. Let's go!
Whoo! Whoo!
Look at us! Look at US!
Alright, let's go.
Alright, now, are you ready to get to your first reward challenge?
(ALL CHEER)
Bring it on.
OK, today's challenge is very simple.
The goal is to retrieve a key from the top of a very high pole.
But all you will have at your disposal
is a pile of sandbags and a bunch of palm fronds.
So, it's going to take both brains and brawn to get the job done.
First tribe to retrieve their key wins reward.
Alright, now, just because I'm feeling generous,
this season, both tribes are going to start the game
with their fire lit back at camp.
(ALL CHEER)
However, you will not be starting this season with a flint,
so if your fire goes out...
Oh. ..it's on you.
Wanna know what you're playing for? ALL: Yeah.
Winning tribe will use their key back at camp to unlock...
..the ultimate construction kit...
..with a saw, an axe, a hammer, nails, a machete...
We can do this. Guys, we've got this.
..rope, a hammock...
(ALL EXCLAIM)
..a tarp to keep you dry.
And we needed that. We need that tarp.
Worth playing for? ALL: Yeah.
Alright, I'll give you a minute to strategise. Let's get to it.
Whoo!
Alright, here we go.
For reward. Survivors, ready?
Go!
Let's go, guys. I'm gonna take these palm fronds.
Move the ferns, move the ferns.
The objective of this challenge is very simple...
Let's go, team. Come on. ..retrieve a key.
Let's get it done.
The execution not so simple...
Let's go, let's go. Come on!
..because that key is 6.5m from the ground.
Let's go, let's go, Brains!
All you have is 100 sandbags...
Let's go. Come on. ..and four palm fronds.
So, two groups of two working on the ferns.
How you use them is up to you.
Get it going, girls. You're killing it.
Brains to try and build up their pile of sandbags.
Come on, Brawn.
Meanwhile, Brawn have put their best assets to work.
Ah!
Sandbags are heavy.
More sandbags.
Here comes Zen with two.
We've got this, Brawn.
Ursula with two.
No more, no more. Support the base.
They're going. They're going!
Paulie goes up.
Brawn have their pole together. He's going to test it.
Let's go, Paulie!
You got it, Paulie. Hold the bag.
Oh, it's long enough.
The wind, bro. The wind. Come on, you've got it.
Wind playing a factor now... Move closer.
..pushing that pole around.
No, no. Let's bring it... Bring it down. Bring it down.
We're gonna have to make it thicker.
Alright, it needs to be thicker on the end.
Come on, let's go, let's go, let's go.
AJ going up for Brains now.
Try that.
They have three palm fronds lashed together.
He's going to test it.
Go! Come on. Get that first one, bro.
Stand tall, stand tall, stand tall, stand tall.
Hold on, hold on. Oh.
No. Now they're in trouble.
Do you wanna get on my shoulders?
Guys, look what they're doing.
And you guys... This is the moment, Kate.
Come on. Yeah.
Brawn abandoning their sandbags,
and going for the human pyramid method.
I can do it all day, mate.
You've got this, girl. You've got this.
Kate on the shoulders of Ben, trying to reach the key.
(INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS)
One more. One more.
Cowboy, cowboy, come here.
Rich... Get ready to catch these.
..thinks he's on to something.
Oh! Yeah.
OK, let's go. Ah! Oh.
Brains rethinking their strategy.
I'll give it a shot.
Oh, shit. Oh, shit.
No, no.
Oh, no. They get it caught on the coil.
That is a disaster for the Brains.
Oh, my (BLEEP) God.
That opens the window for Brawn.
Oh, my God. Come on.
Kate gets it. One full loop.
Come on, Brawn. Let's go.
Yes!
Kate successful again.
One more. Come on.
Brawn on the last loop.
This is a debacle.
Nah, you're not gonna reach it there, bro.
No, it's not strong enough. Not strong enough. Not even a...
Complete disaster for Brains.
Guys, let's just keep working on it.
Come on, bro.
Come on, Kate. Come on, Kate.
Kate going for the win.
(BRAWN TRIBE CHEER)
That is it!
Brawn wins reward. And this game is on!
Oh! Come on.
Oh, yes.
We were born to be Brawn. We were born to be Brawn.
Let's go. Come on.
Whoo!
ZEN: Of course we won. We're the Brawns.
Strong of body, strong of mind, strong of spirit.
We showed up and we got it done.
Congratulations, everyone. Yes. Whoo-hoo!
Ah, beautiful.
Everything about survivor hit me as soon as I walked into camp.
We're on a beautiful beach.
There was the torch rack for the torches.
There was the fire.
I was speechless. For the first time, a Noonan was speechless.
We smashed it today. We did, we did.
How was the Brains? They, they... Idiots.
Oh, they didn't... They had no brains, I'll tell you that.
Yeah. Yeah.
I will just introduce myself. Yeah. Yes.
So, my name is Paul. I'm 30-something, from Sydney.
I'm a paramedic.
Oh, man. That's so cool.
My name's Ursula. I'm 35, and I'm a stay-at-home mum.
Yeah. That's pretty strong.
My name's Jesse. I'm a professional skateboarder.
And I also have a bun in the oven with my partner.
My name is Candy. I'm 26 and I'm a model.
And I'm also a country girl from WA.
Oh, yes. Excellent.
Kristin, I'm from Sydney. I'm an aviation firefighter,
hence why I like tying knots.
Oh! Professionalism in those knots.
My name's Zen and I'm a hip-hop artist from the Gold Coast.
Write some rhymes for us. Oh.
If it's not profit or progress, I pay it. No focus.
We're here for 47 days. So when do we start?
How do we outlast?
Nice.
I love it.
Part of me cringed, and another part of me was like a proud mum.
I was like, "Go, Zen. Rap for me harder."
Alright, let's open up that box. Yeah!
Whoa! Yahoo!
After winning that first reward of pumpkin, bananas, a building kit,
we're pumped.
These are good. Cheers.
Cheers.
Oh, that's a sweet banana. Yeah, right.
It tastes a bit like honey. It's delicious.
Oh. That's good. Good victory, team. Well done.
It's starting to get dark very soon, so I think we need to...
Fire? Yeah, we need to...
We really need to think about how we're going to build.
Alright, let's get this tarp up.
So, we've got a massive tarp.
What are we thinking, guys? How high do we want it?
Because are we going to build a floor up eventually?
I think that'd be cool.
Myself and Ben have taken the lead on building our shelter.
We're calling the shots.
We're putting a plan in place, and we're getting it done.
They will call me LeBrawn James
because I will be the king of the Brawns.
And I can slam dunk. No, I can't.
But everyone's more interested in socialising at this point.
So, you coach soccer? Yeah. Ex-player.
Yeah, stonemason. I've been a landscaper.
Alison Wonderland. I love her.
It's a funny tribe we have. You have followers...
Yeah.
And you have a mix of wannabe leaders.
Where's all our friends at? We need some help.
What do you need?
Yeah, we need some hands over here, pronto.
Why don't you ask Nash?
And then you have me.
Hey, Zen. Yeah?
Slow it. Slow it down.
I think you need to make moves very early.
You got to play the game straightaway,
and I will use every single advantage that I can.
They're different to Australian bananas. How thin the skin is.
Mmm. I'm gonna try eat the skin. Someone's gotta do it.
Have a go.
Like, don't sit back. You're here to play, so let's play.
Alright. Nah, nah, don't eat the skin. Oh, nah.
You're not... Why'd you do that?
I found an idol...
..five minutes into the game.
How exciting.
Ah, I've dreamt of you. Mwah.
I found an idol...
..five minutes into the game.
Oh, I've dreamt of you. Mwah!
(ZEN LAUGHS)
Yeah. You baby.
Boom. Boom.
Thanks, bro.
Game on.
Game on.
He found an idol, which is actually spectacular.
We need to make a solid team. Of course.
It's exactly what we need.
We need, we need, we need brothers that are actually gonna...
..when we say, "This is what we're doing," follow the plan.
I'm perspicacious enough to go,
"He's obviously a phenomenal player.
"Why would I not try to work with him?"
I got you, bro.
I gotta figure out, do I show them all?
You know what? I'm walking in with it.
I don't care if people find out if I have an idol.
I say flaunt it.
Having a dad bod, I've got the size for the game.
I'm a big bloke, but I'm not here for size,
I'm here for my mouth, because I can use it.
I've been in sales my whole life. I can sell anything to anyone.
With my confidence and with my charm,
you're going to believe everything I say.
I'm curious to see these guys' faces.
With this idol around my neck,
gotta go in there like I've got something I'm going to sell
and they've gotta buy it off me.
I'm selling them working with me.
For that overhang, what do you reckon? That's pretty good here.
It gives us a fair bit of cover.
My mum's Greek and my dad's Lebanese.
It's a nice job there. Good, good.
That's sturdy. Let's do the end one.
What's going on?
It's a fun job.
It'd be nice to, like, wake up and look at the ocean.
Like, hello! Wakey-wakey. Are youse blind?
Benny...
Should we nail it to something? What's going on?
Did you get it out? Nail it in.
Seriously? Where'd you get that?
(LAUGHS)
Oh, what? What? You already found one.
Over there, three o'clock. Oh, he's actually wearing...
He's actually wearing it? Literally.
I mean, gotta be happy for people, I guess, I don't know.
Or at least be happy for your bestie's successes.
Nash has already found an idol. What?!
Hold the tarp.
Yeah. Let's go, let's go.
How? How have you even had the time?
Just put my hands in the tree and found it,
and just opened it up and read it.
This piece here. Got another piece here. Hey.
Game on, game on.
KATE: He's walking around, flaunting it.
Grr, hey?
That thing is his, like, ice, his jewellery.
It's never too early to form an alliance...
I think so. ..playing Survivor.
Like, day one. Are you serious?
I mean, good on him. That's exciting.
But he's just put a big target on his chest, literally.
(ALL CHEER)
Whoo!
Did I lose us the challenge? Yes.
And we get a fire.
I think we should push on.
And that's exactly what we're doing at the Brains tribe,
we're pushing on.
That challenge.
Oh.
It was so windy.
I think, honestly, if we didn't have that wind, there was a high chance,
and, I mean, if we didn't have Max, there's also a high chance...
We just need to make sure we learn from our mistakes.
Yeah.
The stupidest thing was throwing that whole sack in the air.
It was ridiculous.
Yeah.
Should we, uh, introduce ourselves? Yeah.
Hey, guys. I am Max. I'm a primary school teacher.
Pretty fun job.
My name's Ali.
I am an international artificial intelligence programmer
and education expert.
Wow. That sounds nice.
I'm Zara. I'm 43. I'm from Brisbane.
I used to be a lawyer, so I've got three degrees,
which is the brainy part of me being out here.
Oh, wow. There you go.
Oh, well, clearly the elder statesman of the group.
My name is Kent. I'm 53.
I'm a consultant specialising in supply chain logistics.
And fun fact, I'm also a helicopter pilot.
Ah.
I'm Laura, I'm 25. I'm from Melbourne. I'm a witch.
Wow. Yeah.
An evil one? I don't do anything bad, I promise.
All my powers are good. I am a good white witch.
Being a witch came to me rather than me finding it.
It was a feeling that I could harness something
that not everyone can.
People question my abilities every single day.
They either get really scared,
and then the other side is people are fascinated.
But if they do get scared,
that kind of means that part of them believes me.
My spiritual intelligence
will definitely be my strongest advantage in the game.
It will help me read people,
it will help me understand what they're going to do
before they even know that they're going to do it.
Oh, sorry, babe.
Survivor is all about making friends quick.
So I was immediately reading people's auras.
What grade do you teach, Max? Usually little ones. One, two.
Yeah. Kindy.
I see little colours above people's heads
and it tells me who I can work with in the future and who I can't.
Listen, where you're actually cutting it,
you're actually cutting it in the worst spot possible
because that's basically the hardest part.
You wanna be cutting it in the middle.
It's already done. Yeah, you've done that one.
Kent's aura was...
..bizarre.
He is fascinating.
Colours I've never seen in a human...
..making me think Kent might be a little bit dangerous.
Big swing. You guys done with the machete?
Out of the way. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sorry.
I've been looking at you like, yeah, I want to work with you.
Me too. Yeah. OK, cool, cool, cool, cool.
There's some big boys, right?
If we go into swap and we end up on a minority,
we are the more obvious targets who are the weakness
the Brawn will potentially cull if we're in the minority?
Yeah.
Myles, his aura was full of polka dots. To me, he's strategic.
Yeah, plenty.
Well, that's great. Yeah.
Fantastic. That's what you want. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
OK, let's go make new friends.
You know what's so funny?
Literally two weeks ago, I went and got my aura read.
Oh, my God. Really? Yeah.
And now I'm getting interesting vibes
from a really strong group of girls.
Logan...
..Zara...
Oh.
And Karin. We're sticking to the witchy vibes.
I'm happy with witchy vibes.
You'll see us all around the camp fire at night,
like holding hands and chanting.
I'm not calling it, like, a coven,
but if all the women gang up together, then, I mean...
I mean, call it what you will.
OK, I see it, I see it. I like you, I want to work with you.
I love an all-girl alliance.
A block of four is quite strong in this.
You might go, "Oh, girl alliance, predictable. Hate it."
But, like, if we can mobilise this really good group of girls,
you've got the start of something.
I think we just need to really, really keep an eye on these boys
and not, like, make sure that they're not too strong.
Are we gonna say that this is our foundational block, then,
and build around it?
Yeah, yeah.
A little coven? ALL: Coven.
Oh, yeah. Love a little witchy coven. Oh, yay! That's so fun.
KARIN: With everything, once you put a name to it, it has so much power.
The coven stays strong.
(ALL LAUGH)
Oh, look at the light on Zen. He looks magnificent.
Oh, he does. He's like, "Stop! Don't look at me."
Yeah. Yeah.
Look at him. (LAUGHTER)
Probably the hardest part of the game for me personally,
is having to hide the testosterone levels
and kind of simmer down the level of intelligence.
Do a back-flip.
And play not dumb...
..but play under and allow someone to take the leadership position,
someone like Nash.
Wanna gonna go for a beach walk?
Calm down. Calm down.
Hey, look, the prince is here, alright? Where's my red carpet?
Nash, he has an idol. He, at this point in time, has the most power.
You just don't know what he's going to do, and he's so full-on.
So let's just keep him happy for now,
because the dude kind of scares me.
Nash threw us into the game straightaway.
He forced us to play, and some of us don't appreciate the arrogance.
I don't want to play his game.
Nash the rash.
He just spreads like one.
Not that we all want to admit when we have a rash,
but he is the rash.
We need to stop the Nash rash from spreading.
(ALL TALK AT ONCE)
Max is there all the time, though. He goes like that.
I'm like, "Mate..."
I love the Brains tribe.
There's a lot of really quirky characters.
I've gotten along super well with all of them.
Everyone other than Kent.
He's running around like a madman with his machete chopping at stuff.
It does make all of us nervous.
Hey, guys, our floor plan is going to be that tree, that tree,
that tree, that tree, and a stump.
I just thought, because we're going to need some length...
I'm talking about the floor plan.
Oh.
Day one, I can see a whole lot of
what I define as people settling for personal mediocrity.
Whoa!
It was terrible losing the challenge.
Max... Don't put that in.
(LAUGHS)
..mate, it was your fault.
Honestly, it was pathetic.
Where did that cowboy hat come from?
That's my teaching hat. That's your alter ego?
I'm not cut from the same cloth as everybody else.
I am a multimillionaire.
And Survivor is the only thing on my bucket list that I can't buy.
In my business, I don't take no for an answer.
I'm the guy that'll beat down the door and throw the hand grenade.
I'll beat the shit out of you, but it'll be gentle.
Yeah.
I think I have an innate ability to be able to read the room
and ultimately manipulate.
That's been really the key to my success.
Goodnight, guys. Goodnight.
Freedom!
The boardroom is no different to the beach.
It's time to throw the hand grenade.
They've got no idea what's going to hit 'em.
WOMAN: Max, where did you leave it?
Guys...no-one's seen Max's cowboy hat?
Yeah, it's gone. No, that's mine.
I can tell you, my hat this morning was in the forest.
My hat's gone.
I looked high, I've looked low.
I've looked over. I've looked under.
I don't know where it is.
We should probably help him look for it.
I've looked. I'm happy... I'm happy to help.
(LAUGHS)
I am a Komodo dragon.
You know how a Komodo dragon works,
a Komodo dragon, it'll just give you a little bite,
and then it just chaperones you around
till the toxins that it's put inside you take effect,
and you just slowly die of toxicity.
I don't think... The wind's blowing this way.
It was an onshore breeze all night.
Oh, well, then someone's burnt it.
Who's the number one suspect? That's the real question.
Who is the burning hat kind of dude?
I looked at Myles and thought,
"He is the kind of person that is going to be the first target."
So I'm going to throw him under the bus.
Absolutely.
Because the poison's already in, remember? Yeah.
Come on in.
Let's do it. Whoa!
Oh, my God.
That's a lot of climbing. Wow.
Let's go.
Oh, here they are.
Go, team! Come on.
Ooh. Oh, my God!
Oh.
Wow. Wow.
It's nice, isn't it?
Bang! So public.
Very public. Interesting strategy.
Whoo! JONATHAN: Wow.
Laura, what do you make of that?
That's a statement. That's a statement. It looks great.
Thank you. Suits you.
I wonder what everyone else thinks.
So, Noonan, how do you feel about Nash's discovery?
There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
I appreciated it on all levels.
And I'll keep the rest of my opinion to myself.
You can use it tonight, mate.
Oh. (LAUGHTER)
Flush it out. Oh.
Alright, are you ready to get to your first immunity challenge?
ALL: Yeah. Alright.
For today's challenge...
..you're going to work together to lift a heavy, coconut-filled snake
out of a cage, under a net, and up to a high tower.
You will then use those coconuts to fill a drum, releasing a gate...
..allowing two of you to race forward and solve a puzzle.
First tribe gets it right, wins immunity.
And this...
..is the immunity idol.
With this back at camp, you are safe,
guaranteed another day in the game.
Without it, you're going to be seeing me at tribal council,
where one of you will become the first person
voted out of Australian Survivor: Brains Versus Brawn.
Nobody wants to be that person.
Alright, I'll give you a minute to strategise.
We'll get it on.
OK. Puzzle makers.
Alright, Indy? Yeah.
Yes.
I've gotta do the puzzle because this time...
Are you good? Yeah. With puzzles, I'm good.
One. And?
I believe in you. Yeah, I'll be fine.
Fine. Alright, guys, we got this. We got this.
Alright, on the puzzle for Brains, we have Indy and Laura,
Noonan and Nash for Brawn.
For immunity - Survivors, ready?
Go!
Go. Come on.
Two at a time, climbing the cage, PD and Zen for Brawn.
Oh, go, go, go. Go.
Got AJ and Kaelan for Brains.
Go, AJ. Good work. Good work.
Go, go, go.
Both tribes neck and neck.
Good girl, Morgan. Good girl.
Want me to go up first? You go up.
JONATHAN: Now you gotta haul that snake over the top.
Oh.
Yep. Let's go.
Keep going, boys.
That snake is heavy.
Over 170 kilos of coconuts right there.
Keep doing it. It's almost there. Let's go.
Brains wasting no time.
Good. You got it. You got it.
Zen and PD hauling it over the edge for Brawn.
Go, go, go.
Finally, they have their snake over.
Here you go. Someone hold this.
Now you got to get that snake all the way under the net.
Ah! Keep pulling!
Three, two, one, heave.
If that wasn't difficult enough, you gotta navigate those obstacles.
Wait, Maxy, you hold up that second one.
I think we're good. Pull it through.
It's Max and Myles leading the charge through the net.
Brains have a slight lead, but Brawn are closing the gap.
Keep going, team. Yeah.
Go. Again.
Go, guys.
They're nearly out. Nearly out! Pull this way.
One, two, three, pull!
Let's go.
One, two, three, pull.
Urgh.
Brains are almost through.
You're good.
Let's go. Let's go, Brains. Let's get it up the tower.
Come on. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
Come on. Go, Brawn.
AJ, Max and Kaelan up the top there for Brains.
One, two, three.
Paulie and Zen at the top of the tower for Brawn.
Pull it up.
One, two, three.
Come on, guys. Push!
We need someone else up the top.
Brawn are stuck! Meanwhile, Brains...
We're nearly there. Come on. Let's go.
One, two, three.
..working well together as a team.
One, two, three.
You're good, Brains. Start untying.
Start dumping it!
Now you need to dump those coconuts into the drum.
That's it. That's it. Let's go!
One more, one more.
Brawn have their snake on top of the tower.
Go, go.
Untie your snake. Let's go, Brawn!
Go, go, go! Untie it.
You need to get enough coconuts in there to drop the drum...
Here come the coconuts, baby. ..and release that gate.
Go! Go, go, go, go!
(ALL CHEER)
You're good, Brains! Whoo!
Go, puzzle makers.
It's Laura and Indy on the puzzle for Brains.
Go, girls. Settle down, settle down.
That's it. More, more, more. Let's go! One more.
Go, go, go! Yahoo!
You're good. Let's go, Nash!
Go, puzzle makers!
Big trip from Nash, trying to get over the gate.
Oh, shit. Go, Nashy!
It's Nash and Noonan on the puzzle for Brawn.
Green on the bottom, green on the bottom.
56 pieces, all the same size.
So your only clue on this puzzle is the design on the front.
We're assuming that it ends with...
Is that beginning of, like?
This could be the beginning of an S like this.
Slow and methodical on the Brain puzzle.
Brains working their way through it.
Good job. Good job, girls. Go!
Meanwhile, Nash completely lost.
Come on, guys.
First immunity challenge for the season,
someone is going home tonight.
Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Indy finds another piece.
(ALL SHOUT ENCOURAGEMENT)
Every piece that goes in, the easier it gets.
Hang on.
There. There you go. There you go, guys.
Oh.
Is it that corner? Give me that. Is it that corner?
No, it needs to be green, eh?
Oh, this is driving me nuts, eh?
Brawn really stuck at that trial-and-error stage.
Does it not connect like that?
He keeps piling them up.
No, that's not gonna sit like that.
Go, Noonan. Go, Noonan.
There, there, there.
Brains have more than half the puzzle completed.
Yeah. Go, go, go.
Go, Brawn.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Yep, good. Awesome.
Brains getting excited now. Working quickly.
There. That one. That one. Done.
Another piece goes in for Brains.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
OK, spiky.
Noonan and Nash getting a clue from the buff.
Can you see it?
You got it? Yeah. This is the flick.
I'm trying to find the flick of the A.
Go, Noonan. Come on, Noony.
Nope. Oh, my God, this is hard. There.
Couple more pieces going in for Brains.
Go, girls! So close.
There, there, there. Oh!
Oh, looking so good, girls.
And another piece. Whoo-hoo!
Down to four pieces.
Yes! Go!
Oh, my God. They're gonna close it out.
Whoo!
Come on. Go, go!
Turn it, turn it. Turn it.
Turn it! Yes.
And that is it.
Brains wins immunity, sending Brawn to tribal council.
Well done. Well done. You guys are unbelievable.
Alright, Brains, congratulations, immunity is yours.
(ALL CHEER)
Yay! Good job. Good job.
Alright, Brains, you are safe. Nobody going home.
You can grab your gear, head on back to camp. Enjoy your night off.
(ALL CHEER)
Good luck, Nash.
Oh, it's gonna be a show.
Alright, Brawn, tribal council tonight
where one of you will be the first person voted out of this game.
Grab your gear, head on out. I will see you tonight.
See you tonight.
We've lost the challenge, and I don't think it had to be lost.
Nash was doing the worst puzzle making
I've ever seen in my whole life.
We need to put that guy on the bench permanently.
Nash is to blame for today's loss.
Yeah, there's some embers under there.
Alright, it's going.
So, I have no idea what's going to happen at tribal council.
We haven't even had enough time
to work out who we like, who we don't like.
It's day two, come on.
Zen, Zen.
Zenny, let's go.
I was thinking the same.
I'm just gonna fill up my bottle.
No, no. No?
Just say it now.
And what's the reason? Just strength, challenges?
Just social.
NASH: I put Candy's name out straightaway.
I haven't connected with her,
and I just don't feel like she's going to be anyone
that I can align with, moving forward.
It's going to be strength of the team, challenge strong...
Let's do it. ..don't go back to tribal council.
That's the one, yeah? It's just gotta to be kept quiet. OK.
Done. Done.
Nash has just formed this 'alliance' with PD, Ursula, and myself.
He's also saying Zen, but we don't know.
But it's been a forced alliance.
I feel that Nash is playing wild, unpredictable.
He's like a caged animal.
What do you think?
Ursula's good, Kristin's good, PD is good.
OK? Yeah?
Yeah.
I love this. Look what's happening at camp.
I am controlling the tribe.
It is so exciting.
Why?
And we just want to, like...
It's always scary when you don't know who someone would want out.
Like, I actually don't know who you'd want out.
Who do you think I want out? I don't know.
Every single person, including me, will be voting for Candy.
I'm good all around.
There is a chance that Nash is cocky enough to not play his idol.
Bring this on.
And if he doesn't use it, he's going home.
Are ya?
Nash flashing his idol
forced all of us to play the game of Survivor
pretty quickly, too quickly.
If we're going to flush, we have to split it.
Nash's idol needs to be flushed, or he needs to go home.
And we need to be smart about how we split those votes.
Do we have five people willing to be, like, "Done. Voting for Nash"?
Big-time. Yeah.
Totally.
Plan number one is to flush the idol,
so Nash needs some numbers on him.
But then after that, who's going to go home?
It's so tricky.
No, Neither do I.
And that she's the only one that doesn't reply
whenever we ask a group question.
For me, Ursula is a huge threat.
She's quiet, she listens, and she's in Nash's back pocket.
We're solid. That's what we're... 100%.
Yeah.
If we can't get rid of Nash, we need to weaken him somehow.
And I think Ursula is a weak spot.
Yeah.
I like the confident, borderline arrogant Nash
that really gets out there
and is loud and proud on the moves that he wants to make.
Then if they ask, what do we say? It is what it is.
But to flush an idol on Survivor is absolutely critical,
because if it gives another player an advantage over you,
I think there's no other sensible option ahead of
flushing that idol out.
We'll just keep our heads down and stay quiet.
My purpose is simple - make sure that it's played.
Beyond that, Ursula's name's come up for the split vote.
OK.
So, PD and Zen...
..they're both really smart players.
They don't wanna go with the minority.
The numbers are on this side.
Nash is so arrogant, he has no idea. It'll hit him hard.
So, PD and Zen flipped.
The numbers are on this side.
We are splitting the votes tonight on Nash and Ursula.
Nash has no idea. It'll hit him hard.
No. No way. What? No!
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Oh! No chance.
Why?
Where the (BLEEP) did that name come from?
More water?
I saw her.
That's got me angry.
Urs. Ursula.
Ursula.
Ursula is part of my team. She's part of my alliance.
I have to keep her safe.
Your name's been thrown around. I just found out.
No, because they think that you and I are tied.
I know that, so I've got to look for an idol.
Let's... I'll look for you. Let's go.
Trust me, I've got your back. You don't need to worry.
It's all well and good for him to run around and say that
while he's got an idol around his neck.
There's nothing, hey?
But I need to keep myself safe from the votes.
I will always go in fighting.
Thanks for that.
I know the name that Nash is putting out there.
Who is it?
Oh, no, no.
Don't panic, Candy. Don't panic.
Don't panic. Do not panic.
Yes.
I'm pretty sure.
If he does, then he goes.
I have no idea what Nash is going to do with his idol.
I think that he might just be arrogant enough not to play it.
Don't panic. Don't panic. I don't know.
If you feel yourself start to panic, pull us away and we'll chat.
We've got the numbers,
but if Nash goes home with his idol, mwah.
NASH: Ursula's on the chopping block, but I need Candy out.
I'll use every single thing I've learned the last 20 years
to make sure Candy goes home.
I've been in sales, so I know how to close a big deal.
Yes.
Are you happy? Candice? Are you happy?
Yeah?
I'm trusting you. I need your number.
Candice? Yeah?
Knowing it's the first vote,
my anxiety levels are through the roof.
The plan was always to flush Nash's idol,
and then the split vote will go on Ursula,
and she'll be collateral damage.
But he is dangerous.
Yes.
I don't want to be aligning with someone like Nash,
as I don't like his morals.
And I really want to keep playing with Ben and Noonan,
Paulie and Jesse.
But Nash did imply that I would be next if I didn't vote with him,
which absolutely scared me.
Just have to make a decision as to whether to go for Candy...
..or Ursula.
Yeah.
One, two, three, four. Everybody else...
Is on Nash. ..on Nash.
Nash, Nash, Nash.
Mm-hm. OK.
Locked in Nash.
It really feels like over the first few days I was hit by a bus
and Nash was driving it.
Are you enjoying this chaos you created?
Oh, it's so much fun.
I don't want to play the Nash over-the-top chaotic game.
I've got my alliance. We're tight.
Yeah.
So, our plan is to get rid of Nash or get rid of his idol.
The Nash rash be gone.
NASH: First tribal council, it's going to be an easy vote out.
There will be no ifs and buts.
People are just going to run with the Candy vote and move on.
There's no-one else.
I'm sure Ursula's safe, and I know I'm safe tonight.
Nothing's going to happen to me.
I can sell anything to anyone, so I'm not playing my idol tonight.
JONATHAN: Experience the game like never before,
with extended tribal councils, unseen moments,
interviews, and more over on 10 Play.
Look at this.
Evening.
JLP.
Behind each of you is a torch.
Go ahead, grab one.
Come forward, dip it in and get fire.
This is part of the ritual of tribal council,
because in this game, fire represents your life.
Once it's gone, so are you.
Alright, so, Nash, barely 24 hours into the game,
you walk into the challenge today wearing your idol.
And from where I was standing, that was a big move.
Was that the intention?
You gotta make big moves in this game.
I'm not here to hide it. That's it, it's out there.
It's certainly out there.
It's out there, alright.
So, did everyone else know about it before you arrived?
Or was that the first time the tribe had seen it?
No. I found it within the first five minutes we walked into camp.
That's got to be a record. It is a record.
We knew six minutes in.
You knew six minutes in? Yeah.
I wore it proud. Zen was with me with me when I found it.
Whether he was going to tell everyone or not, I didn't know.
Noonan, if you happened to stumble across an idol,
would you be so open with it, like Nash has been?
Ah, I think I'd keep my tongue a little bit tighter than Nash.
But I think Nash's intentions from the get-go
were to force us to play straightaway.
So, we were on our toes. We played the little Nash game.
He was the star, and we were all like puppets.
He started the engine and we had to take off.
So, Candy, typically in this game, if you find an idol,
you're going to keep it to yourself.
You know, maybe you'll share it with some close allies,
rarely are you going to show the rest of the tribe.
You're certainly not going to show the OTHER tribe.
Do you think Nash has overplayed his hand?
It's a bold move. I wonder if you regret it now. Do you regret it now?
No, I don't regret nothing. No, OK.
You don't? Nah. No chance.
No regrets? Nuh.
So, Paulie, Nash has just punched the accelerator, day one.
Do you think he's got enough gas in the tank to make it to day 47?
No. No?
No. That's it.
Like, I'm struggling to understand what the move was.
Like, now you've put it out there
for everyone to see, all we're gonna do is flush it.
When you walk into a game like this, you got to expect you're a target.
You know what?
If you don't play from day one, you shouldn't be here, to be honest.
So, Zen, you were there when Nash found the idol.
What do you make of this grand gesture?
When we were there, he showed me straightaway.
"Look. Found this."
And then and there, that builds trust.
But it's also like, "Why are you showing me within five minutes,
"ten minutes of meeting each other?"
To me, I was like, "I don't know if it's a smart play."
So, Zen, what do you think Nash is going to do with it tonight?
We really don't know, Jonathan.
OK, so, Nash, if you're into big moves,
then the bolder move here is not playing it at all tonight.
What do you think I should do with it?
It's not up to me. You don't have to tell me what you're gonna do.
I've told them, "I'm going to use it tonight."
You're gonna use it?
You just don't know.
The vote's going one way.
It's going one way. It's simple as that.
Care to tell us which way it is going?
The same way that everyone knows. It's going to be sweet and easy.
So, Nash, everyone knows what's going on?
About 90%.
I do know that my name was on the chopping block,
so I can't be the 10% that doesn't know.
I told Ursula she was on the chopping block, too.
Wow, Ursula, you're on the chopping block, too.
I am. Heard her name.
So, Morgan, do you know what's going on tonight?
I got two names,
and I'm still trying to figure out what's going on. (LAUGHS)
So the two names you have are Candy and Ursula?
Yeah.
OK, so, Ursula, why have you two ended up on the chopping block?
Potentially because Candy may not be able
to bring the best to challenges.
Oh.
And for myself, I think it might be...
..relationships haven't been built with certain people in the tribe.
OK, so, Candy, Ursula's saying that you're not really an asset
in challenges moving forward.
How would you respond to that?
There's so many different kinds of challenges in this game.
There's going to be challenges where even being little can help.
I can also bring quite a lot to challenges as well.
I mean, I can throw a bit of weight around.
I can probably throw a little bit more than most men, actually.
So...I mean, they should keep me because I'm strong.
I definitely think I can give a lot more to challenges physically,
and some of the votes that were going on Nash
could potentially go on Candy,
and I could potentially stay and help you win.
So it's not too late to change your vote.
Don't waste a vote on me.
It's as simple as that.
Alright, well, it is time to vote.
Alright, it is time to vote.
Nash, you're up.
Sorry but your social game was just too slow for me.
You're a great person. You're just a casualty of Nash's arrogance.
I'll go count the votes.
Alright, if anyone has an idol and they'd like to play it,
now would be the time to do so.
Oh.
Let's use this bad boy.
For me, please.
For you?
I can confirm this is an idol,
and any votes cast for Nash will not count.
I'll read the votes.
First vote...
..Nash, does not count.
Nash. Does not count.
Nash. Does not count.
Candy. That's one vote Candy.
Candy.
Candy.
Ursula.
Three votes Candy, one vote Ursula.
Ursula.
Three votes Candy, two votes Ursula.
Ursula.
We're tied.
Three votes Candy, three votes Ursula.
Ursula.
Candy.
Oh! What?
We're tied again.
Four votes Candy, four votes Ursula.
One vote left.
First person voted out of Australian Survivor: Brains Versus Brawn...
..Candy.
Oh.
You need to bring me your torch.
Candy, the tribe has spoken.
That's it. Time for you to go.
Bye, everyone. See you, Candy.
There's gonna be some chats on the way. Hmm.
Well, this tribe has really set the tone
of big moves, bold plays, and pure chaos.
Grab your torches, head back to camp. Goodnight.
This season...
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
..strength...
..and strategy...
How did Nash get in there?
..will go head-to-head.
Can these powerful players...
Oh! Hard hit in the middle.
..survive against the most cunning adversaries?
You (BLEEP) me over, I will come and find you.
In the ultimate rematch...
I can cry pretty easily.
..who will be...
Can I just say one thing? Stop talking.
..sole survivor?
I am the praying mantis. My plan is to slowly eat him alive.
It's definitely not how I wanted it to go.
Everyone's worst Survivor dream is, like, going home first.
I'm sad that it was me. I'm still a bit confused.
My first thought was that Nash had gone around and plotted
and people listened to Nash, which is crazy.
I was not expecting things to get so crazy this early on in the game.
Nash is a wild card.
Game on, baby.
