(Rolto Castle)

They found out so quickly.

I can't use that drain anymore.

I need to find another way out.

Hey, don't make a sound.

Don't tell me she's gone into labor?

No good. What horrible timing!

If she makes any noise, they'll know where we are.

Search every nook and cranny!

Yes, sir!

Could it be…

The drainage of East Tower has been broken!

The hostages are over there!

That way, hurry!

Seems they're gone.

It must be hard not to make a sound. Are you okay?

I'm fine.

If I were to mess up here,

I would ruin all Lord Lupa and everyone else have done for me.

Let's go!

Don't worry.

I'll make sure to bring you back to your family.

Thank you.

Noble wives are pretty tough, huh?

Someone is talking about me?

(Episode 20: Family)

We did it! We made it to the forest!

Ars!

We made it through the fake retreat.

It's only due to your command

that we've managed to make it to the forest.

Good job.

No, it's thanks to everyone!

Thank you very much!

Now, we have to see if the enemy chases us into the forest.

Lord Ars!

It seems the enemy commander noticed our retreat was fake.

They might not chase us.

No, they will come after us.

The plan that Miss Mireille and I came up with should be underway already!

We've chased them so far already.

But you want to stop now?

Yes, it's a trap.

If we enter the forest like this,

we'll be playing straight into their hands.

But we've already taken out a third of their forces.

Even if it's a trap,

we'll be able to push through if we press our advantage.

That's right! We're so close to winning.

We've whittled the enemy down plenty.

It would be better to hunker down for a siege now

rather than rushing in and suffering losses.

But…

Hey, stop!

Are you disobeying Lord Jean's order?

Darn it!

They're going to hunt them down and take all the credit!

No fair! Me too!

What should we do?

Leave them be.

There's no reason we should risk ourselves for fools who are blind to

what's right in front of them.

Let's retreat.

I will take the head of that Marca!

You idiot…

Follow them!

They really followed us!

The plan was a success.

It's the plan that Miss Mireille and I came up with before the battle.

It's really difficult for the soldiers

who are winning the battle to stay put.

They can earn great honors for chasing us down,

and they get to loot, which is essential for soldiers.

Even if the general stops them,

soldiers will be blind to the risk.

So I asked Miss Mireille's group to take advantage of the chaos of battle

to steal the enemy's armor

and used the moment the enemy stopped giving chase to infiltrate the enemy forces.

Then they just have to wait for a suitable time to rush forth

and induce them all to give chase!

Yet another amazing plan!

You two are really amazing!

So that's why Mireille disappeared in the middle of battle.

Lord Ars!

(Maitro Mercenary Group) Mr. Clamant, Mr. Hammond!

Sorry for making you wait.

Leader, the enemy is coming!

Alright, everyone, get in position.

This will likely be the last battle!

Everyone, let's get ready too!

Yes, sir!

No, there's no need for that.

You may have prepared yourself for the worst,

but you did your part in coming here as promised.

You've got more grit than I expected.

You and your men can take a rest.

From now on, it's our job.

Huh? Where did the guys ahead of us go?

The fewer rivals the better!

I'll take the first honor!

There they are!

Kill them!

W-What?

Who are these guys?

That emblem…

They're Maitro Mercenary Group!

Why are they here?

Where did the Canarre Army go?

It seems there's something…

The blade is gone!

W-What superhuman power!

So this is War Demon Maitro!

Retreat!

Faster! Out of the forest now!

We--

We're surrounded!

So strong.

Indeed lives up to the reputation.

Miss Mireille and Charlotte!

You're safe!

Of course.

They chased the enemy into an ambush with no way out.

They completely surrounded them.

The enemy is unable to effectively mobilize in the forest.

There's simply no escape.

As expected of such a renowned mercenary group.

There's not a moment of hesitation.

So this is the Maitro Mercenary Group.

We've found ourselves an incredible ally.

(Duel)

It's the cavalry captain!

Catch them!

Out of my way!

Get out of the way!

Oh no, he broke through the encirclement!

He's coming here!

Mr. Rietz!

Get him!

Come at me, Marca!

I'll take your head!

You dared point your blade towards Lord Ars.

I'll make you regret that.

That really pissed me off.

What should I do?

It ended up being a duel!

Both of them are the best of the best at fighting.

(Fighter A, Cavalier S, Archer A)

Mr. Rietz has 89 points in Prowess

(Fighter A, Prowess 89) and his Fighter aptitude is A.

And his opponent also has 89 Prowess

(Fighter A, Prowess 89) and Fighter aptitude A.

Using such a short sword

There's no way you can block my attacks with that short sword!

Oh no, Mr. Rietz is getting pushed back!

His opponent is more heavily armed and thus has a larger reach.

Rietz might be at a disadvantage here.

What's wrong? You keep running away, huh?

Watch out!

Got you!

So he pretended to be pressured

to bait him into attacking the tree.

This is the end!

Mr. Rietz won!

That's great!

Catch him!

The fighting skill values

of Mr. Rietz and his opponents were completely identical.

(Intellect 95, Intellect 48) But Mr. Rietz is not simply fighting.

(Intellect 95, Intellect 48) He figured out what was going on

and came up with a way to win.

He wins by his intelligence.

His intelligence and fighting skills are excellent.

Mr. Rietz is outstanding!

I lost, just kill me!

I can't forgive you for pointing your sword at Lord Ars.

But I have much to learn

from you when it comes to strength.

It was an honor to fight you.

Lord Ars!

The enemy's commander is here!

And prepares to attack us with his main forces!

Prowess 92?

My god! It's higher than Mr. Rietz!

Back off.

Mr. Clamant, be careful!

Dan!

You…

With one blow?

Too strong!

This stroke claims a mark of Prowess well above a hundred!

Lord Jean!

Hey, what should we do?

Even Lord Jean has been captured.

Which one of you is ready to cross arms with me?

Take the surviving soldiers as prisoners!

All of you, surrender!

Lord Ars!

Everyone, the enemy was strong

and we were at a great disadvantage.

It was a very hard battle.

But we held on until the end

and managed to overcome everything!

And then we won!

It's all my fault.

It's all because I lost.

Oh no

Stop!

Stop, Dan!

Hey, what are you doing?

Let go!

I don't know what I'm doing either.

I could've just left you

and given up the idea of following you.

Normally, I would probably do that.

But I suddenly remembered…

That moment when you gave me the soup.

Dan.

Maybe I'm just… glad you're alive.

Don't cry, Jean.

It's not good for you.

When this war is over,

we'll go home together.

Lord Lupa!

Lord Ars.

You didn't kill the enemy general and soldiers and take them all as prisoners?

Yes, they will be sent to Semplar.

Thank you so much for helping us!

If you hadn't come to our rescue,

we would have been…

You have the power to get people to help you.

I'm glad I could be of service to you.

You'll be able to see your captive wife soon.

Mr. Fahm will surely save her…

Lord Lupa?

Are you alright?

Somebody bring in a field medic!

So much blood!

You have such a serious wound.

Why have you been so quiet all this time?

The situation on the battle field was not in our favor.

If I had collapsed right there at that moment,

it would have damaged our spirit.

Lord Lupa…

Lord Ars,

I stopped the bleeding,

but he lost too much blood.

So if he loses consciousness now, it could end badly.

Lord Lupa!

The wound is not that deep.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

Even if I die like this,

don't worry about it.

What are you talking about? That won't happen!

Lord Ars.

Do you have a dream?

I have a dream…

that one day, when the war will be over,

and there will be peace in the country…

To live in a little house

with a yard where my kids play with the dog.

And my wife sits next to me and smiles at me.

That is my dream.

That I fought to achieve.

So I have no regrets.

I will create that world for you!

So don't give up!

Lord Lupa,

Think about it,

I've always lived the war.

I have to keep fighting throughout my life,

whether it is now or in the future.

That is what I originally decided.

The one who opened up a new world for me was Maria.

When I was with her,

even the smallest things made me feel really happy.

Being around her,

I knew I didn't need anything more.

You lead me in the end?

Darling, hold on!

Maria?

Yes, it's me!

It's a miracle, he came to his senses!

Are you all right?

Yes, and so are you.

That was close. We got here just in time.

It's my first time delivering a baby.

Please hold him.

It's so great that you're okay.

It's really great.

Mr. Fahm, thank you so much!

I don't know how to thank you.

Considering what I was able to see…

This work is not that bad.

(Mourning)

Lord Lumeire,

the bodies of our and the enemy's fallen soldiers

have been buried.

Ars.

This battle was one of the most violent.

We were at a great disadvantage but we didn't give up.

We're stronger now than ever before.

But, to end this war,

we've lost many of our comrades.

Of course there're always casualties in war.

I understand that's the way things are.

But our fallen comrades and the enemy who fought with us

are just like us.

They had families and what they were trying to protect.

So…

We'll not allow their sacrifices to be made in vain.

We must create a better future.

The opposing sides may have different positions.

But I'm sure

they all want peace for the sake of

those they want to protect.

Let's continue to win until there is a peace

that satisfies everyone!

Now he actually looks like a real general.

Why are you here alone?

What are you doing?

I am writing letters.

Writing letters?

Who do you write to? There're so many.

I write to the families of fallen soldiers.

Every soldier

has someone waiting for him to return.

But they can no longer see them.

So at the very least…

Let their families know what they did

and how they ended their lives.

I want to share with them how their relatives

lived their lives as warriors.

This is Mr. Karu, the son of the bakery owner.

He was a generous man.

He always gave me more bread than I could eat.

This is Mr. Baron, who worked for our family.

And this…

The one who…

The one who…

Protected me…

We laughed together in joy

and overcame difficulties together.

Each and every one of them was family to me.

I'm sorry.

I was trying to look strong-minded.

If my father saw me like this,

it wouldn't make him happy.

In front of us, you've nothing to be ashamed of.

Mr. Rietz…

Can I help you with the letters?

Thank you.

Charlotte.

Weren't you going to bring them food?

No, it's better to leave them alone.

Mr. Rietz, you're so cool.

But Mr. Fahm has stolen the spotlight this time.

Of course not!

But Mr. Fahm is amazing.

And he's a good person too.

Is he a good person?

Yes.
