Muran

hey T

oh you wear that to protect you when you

travel to protect you on a journey

what's the difference sometimes a

journey is from

within weby you'll learn soon enough but

when will I learn what the white woman

teaches I don't want you to learn her

teachings but she knows things that we

don't

know first you must jump and then you

must wear your courage proudly quebe for

everyone to see

maybe after my

[Music]

[Music]

lessons for

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

that's my property you're destroying you

can't do that I can't destroy a piece of

paper yet you can destroy the jungle

we're making room for the

schoolhouse these tribes have lived here

for Generations without destroying the

brush that's why he coming from a man

who allows children to participate in

barbaric

rituals rituals of

Courage

nonsense webe has to earn his place in

the makosi tribe the jump symbolizes his

progress I know these rituals are some

sort of meaning to them but I don't see

the point of inflicting pain for the

sake of accomplishment and if I can stop

it I

will Western

thinking civilized thinking try it

sometime

I

[Music]

have what are you doing

here when wait stop come

[Music]

back to

tan

wait for your journey I'm not going

anywhere you're angry with the teacher

soon you'll go in search of your bad

Spirit

what your Visions are for your

people aren't you one of

us one with the jungle please Tarzan I

want to learn from her I want to be able

to read stories like you do your elders

will tell you all the stories you need

to know but I want to know different

ones you have plenty to study M says you

can never have enough to study he says

knowledge is a

friend what

they even a friend can become an

enemy for your journey

within thank you

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

you'd better be careful

cby guy of the plant sees more wisely

than you what do you mean the spirits

give you a gift of vision but

medicine that you must study but I am

then you should know that blood of a

leaf is stronger than it

appears much

stronger so is Taren

finally a friendly

face things are that bad huh well you're

the biggest turnout so far everyone

hates me here they all think I'm some

borish European who's come to change

them ah well we both know they're wrong

so I say let's prove it to

them well I would if it weren't for that

crazy man in the Laur class

tzen he is just a little suspicious of

Western motives well thanks a lot for

encouraging me to come here hey you

wouldn't let anything stop you anyway

yes but I would have been better

prepared I'll help any way I

can well do you think you can stop the

animals from screaming in the middle of

the night oo not like perie is it don't

worry everything will be just fine

[Music]

[Music]

I think I made a mistake the river flows

into the ocean with certainty not

hesitation I'm certain I made a mistake

well I wanted tazan to let the white

woman stay and he was angry so I thought

if you could see his anger he would

realize that it wasn't really her he was

angry with your wisdom blossoms sing I

thought so except his anger is bigger

than I expected and I think I mean I'm

certain it's getting bigger you had an

interesting lesson what a minute aren't

you going to help me that's your mistake

but I don't know how to fix it

then you still have much more to learn

[Music]

[Music]

what do you want sooni will become the

makosi diviner if you take him the tribe

loses its next Doctor counselor I don't

want to take anyone I just want to teach

him that his ways are wrong not wrong

just unnecessary they help him survive

in the jungle just because he's educated

doesn't mean he' be suffed cha proves

otherwise on the contrary he lives as a

Westerner he couldn't survive alone in

the jungle anymore not like these tribes

have to but they don't have

to just like they don't need

self-inflicted challenges their rituals

are important to them just like your

prayers are important to

you my

prayers you have been spying on me and

I've seen enough to know that you don't

belong

here well frankly your opinion loses its

value the longer I know you

[Music]

nice

[Music]

weather the rains will fall

tonight did your tribe ever rain

dance

no the dark clouds are moving

in you don't have any rain dances to

create rain do

you the rain comes from the sky but when

the spirits are angry they hope at the

rain then we have a ritual

oh so what are you doing collecting

roots for my

medicine um can I

help

okay so you studying to be a doctor

Medicine Man

medicine you think everything we do is

wrong no it's just that there are easier

ways in Europe you study in a classroom

and you don't have to search for roots

and berries to make your

medicine someone has to make it another

doctor why

not because he has better things to

do like

what well like treat his patients but

how if he doesn't make their medicine

well someone else makes the medicine the

doctor just prescribes

it so it takes two people to be Medicine

Man in

[Music]

Europe more if I think about

it

hey what's your

[Music]

name quy yes

quy I'll work on this

hey I miss

[Music]

du please I tried everything I can't

find taren's anger you have to help me

stop

it Mandu don't tell him I did it

does the

creature come from

you it's your anger that

attacks my attacker is a living

being sometimes anger has a life of its

own then I will find it and I will kill

it no

to kill it is to kill

yourself you tell me my anger attacks

people but you don't want me to destroy

it it can teach you about yourself I

know about

myself you can still learn

more yet you banished the teacher from

the village I only offer you teachings

from the jungle so you're just like her

you think your ways are the only

ways where is the medicine that you used

quby um in the fire I thought I could

get rid of the anger if I burned it

don't worry we will stop this angery

[Music]

ah

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

the

wall I didn't throw you against anything

I saw you I saw the rage in your eyes

[Music]

[Music]

timber

timber what's

[Music]

wrong what's wrong

I'm leaving I wanted you to

know

pus since we first

met all you ever did was asking me about

Africa I thought that's all you wanted

to do it is then why are you letting

people push you

away you were stronger than this I don't

know anything

anymore I mean I can close my eyes to

things that I think are wrong

I see a 50ft platform knowing that some

child's going to dive off it and I

cannot turn the other way I care too

much that is why you must stay and teach

with blenders on no open your

mind you might even learn something from

the people out

there even if I wanted

to tazan has made it clear I'm not

welcomed

he attacked me last

night I can't believe

that believe

[Music]

it what happened between you and beatric

[Music]

she says you attacked

her I didn't are you saying she's lying

no I don't know did you attack her or

did you not I said I don't know that's

supposed to be some sort of excuse

tber I don't make excuses I just live my

life no you don't you are too afraid of

change to live your life spoken like a

Westerner I hold my family traditions

close to my heart Tarzan but development

and change will happen whether you like

it or

not but if we stop ourselves I'm

adapting we might as well just die

that's giving up Timber that is reality

a reality you're helping create would

you like to attack me now

a

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

hello

hello this is the school isn't

yes well I have a problem with counting

a numbers and it causes problems when I

make my medicine

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

finished

almost I'm not going to jump until Mand

to come and

watch well that's not going to

happen why

not because I don't think you should

jump

and if I go it's as if I'm supporting a

decision but jumping will make me

stronger you're plenty strong you don't

need self-imposed

challenges

what you don't need to do I mean to give

yourself difficult things to do in order

to grow don't you ever do things that

are

hard of course coming here was hard and

it made you

stronger but I'm not doing this for my

myself qube I'm doing this to help

others me too if I'm stronger I'll be a

better Medicine Man and I'll be able to

stop Tan's

[Music]

[Applause]

anger

I I

[Applause]

[Music]

get

away my

leg kill me and you kill yourself

[Applause]

[Music]

help me tan help me please

[Music]

[Music]

I'm sorry for accusing you of attacking

me I didn't

know I have to get forby you're have no

value dead you have the skill of a

leopard yet lack the

patience I must find the creature before

it hurts twbe you are the only one who

can save twbe now but you need to set

within it's gone beyond that now no

tasen it never goes beyond the inner

self what happens around us comes from

the inside

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

you

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

be

[Music]

Timber qu's been taken which way

kill me and you kill

yourself civilized thinking try it

sometime would you like to attack me

now tan help me please

[Music]

[Music]

I'm sorry

toen I didn't mean for this to happen

you've done nothing wrong

[Music]
