-Sora will be rounding out Team Kakashi,
while Sai is in recovery.
Because of that, I'd like to practice
some new formations to get us all in sync.
-Yes, sir.
-What?
Come on.
We could skip that.
Let's just get back to my Wind chakra training.
-Well, what do you know about that?
The reject has a point for once.
-You're a laugh a minute, you know that?
Oh.
That's right.
Captain Yamato, I almost forgot something.
I wanted to ask you a couple of questions
about the manipulation of chakra nature.
-Well, all right.
But then I want you focused on the rest of our training.
-Yeah, OK.
You got it.
YAMATO: Well, shoot.
What do you want to know?
-You said before that you create the Wood Style
by combining the Earth and Water styles together, right?
-Yes, that's correct.
Earth and Water are the two properties of chakra nature
that I have mastery of.
-Kakashi sensei's talked about this a lot in training.
He said when you're a jounin you can learn more of them.
Will I eventually pick up Water Style or something, too?
-I see.
Hard to say, really.
You're either born with it or you're not.
Each of us has an affinity for different chakra.
Though, I guess only time will tell
if you have an affinity for Water Style chakra.
-So I guess no matter how hard I try then,
I can't learn something that isn't there to begin with.
-Anyway, Naruto, your fundamental attribute is wind.
Even if you were to show signs of others,
they would be much weaker.
To cultivate a second or third property,
jounin train themselves to use that weaker chakra.
-That means it's got to be really rare for somebody
to obtain all five then, right?
-Not exactly.
No shinobi has ever managed to master all five of them.
It's never happened.
At least, not to my knowledge anyway.
NARUTO (VOICEOVER): So then--
-Wind Style, Scattering Flower Dance.
-Then how could she do that?
-Was that the only question you had?
Because we have a lot of formations
that we need to get to.
[laughter]
-It's not like they're a permanent team.
Why bother drilling them?
Seems kind of pointless.
-Hey, Asuma.
-I mean, for starters, Naruto doesn't really
think before he acts.
And Sora's cut from the same cloth.
-Don't lump me in with him!
-What is it with you?
-Both of them are heavy hitters who like diving into the fray.
Just put them up front and let them do their thing.
You and Sakura just back them up as best you can.
-Harrumph!
-I don't disagree with you, but--
-Backing these two up should be a lot of fun.
-Oh, brother.
-Seriously, they're not going to pick up
new formations overnight.
Give them a little time to find a rhythm.
They'll comrades before you know it.
-Which means that for now--
-Those formations will just have to wait.
[sigh]
-Asuma is right.
So for the time being, you can all keep training individually,
OK?
-All right!
-So I guess that means we could pick up
where we left off on my training, right?
Can we?
How about it, Captain?
-Oh.
Well, we'd need Kakashi here for that.
But hey, maybe Asuma here could help you.
You're on standby right now, aren't you, sensei?
[grunt]
-I'm sure he can teach you a thing or two.
After all, he has the same Wind Style chakra you two do.
-All right!
Let's do it!
-I'm ready, Asuma sensei.
-Hey.
I asked him first.
-So what?
You think I care?
NARUTO [growl]: Get lost, will ya?
SORA: Oh, shut up, you freak!
ASUMA (VOICEOVER): Dropped his mess right in my lap.
NARUTO: Hey!
What'd you say?
[japanese theme song]
-So you two did all this, huh?
-You betcha.
-Whatever, loser.
More than half of them are mine.
-He's lying through his teeth.
-All right.
That's it.
You want to go?
-Gya, gya.
-What the-- what the hell was that?
-Easy, kid.
You two aren't my responsibility.
This is a favor.
Now pipe down and grab a kunai.
Get a mental image of your Wind chakra, and throw them.
[sigh]
-Still didn't have to swat us like that.
All right, keep watching.
I'll show you something.
ASUMA (VOICEOVER): Hmm.
This much power without using chakra blades?
Not too shabby.
-Well, Asuma sensei?
I'm way better than this guy, right?
-What?
Look again, you dimwit.
-You got a problem?
-All right, pay attention.
Notice anything different?
-Huh?
SORA: The hole is smaller.
-Exactly so.
This is visualization training to increase
the accuracy of your Wind chakra.
The holes you made tell me you were
imagining that tree's destruction.
When you should have been envisioning Wind chakra.
Your minds we're distracted from the chakra's lighter, sharper
nature.
In other words, the more you're distracted,
the bigger the hole.
-Oh, I get it.
So the hole you made was equal to your distraction.
-It wasn't as big as yours, though.
-Say what?
You could cram three squirrels into yours.
-Yours could hold five.
-Yours could fit seven.
-Oh yeah.
ASUMA (VOICEOVER): They should both be
able to do it because they're chakra is so exceptional.
Naruto, of course, but Sora, too.
-It's not about how many you throw.
Focus on the image each and every time.
-Gotcha.
-Yes, sir.
-Be precise with your Wind chakra.
-Let's do it.
-I'm not giving up.
-Huh?
[grunt]
[grunt]
[grunt]
[grunt]
ASUMA (VOICEOVER): This is Sora's.
[music playing]
-So we've gotten more than.
Was it from Chiriku?
-Mm.
I'm afraid a rather interesting detail regarding Sora
has come to light.
-Kazuma is Sora's father?
-Well, that part's water under the bridge.
The issue is what happens later.
-This is a secret we've protected.
But--
CHIRIKU (VOICEOVER): About 10 years ago, a tragedy
brought the Fire Temple to the brink of destruction.
I had received a report, and rushed to the temple.
-The temple.
CHIRIKU (VOICEOVER): I found myself
looking upon a scene straight out of a nightmare.
The pride of the Fire Temple.
The Iron Wall Seal had been utterly destroyed.
-Out of the way.
Stretcher coming through.
[groan]
-Hey.
Are you OK?
-Lord Chiriku.
-What on earth happened?
-I don't know, but whatever it was, my lord, it wasn't human.
-I-it wasn't human?
What do you mean?
-The creature was shrouded in evil.
[grunt]
-Easy.
-We'll take him.
This is horrific.
-What happened here?
-I have no idea.
Sora just went crazy without warning.
Something happened to the boy.
We tried to stop him, but you can
see how well that turned out.
-Sora did this?
CHIRIKU (VOICEOVER): Needless to say,
we ran has body through a battery
of physical examinations.
But we never found the cause.
We had Sora under constant surveillance.
But he never had another episode.
But those who remember the incident loathe him.
And fear his inexplicable power.
The boy is ostracized.
YAMATO (VOICEOVER): So that's why
Sora felt like he didn't belong there.
-They still don't know the reason why it happened?
-No idea.
Unfortunately, the cause of Sora's rampage
continues to remain a mystery.
-So there you have it.
And Chiriku is rightfully concerned.
It seems he'd like to get our assessment, as well, as
long as the boy is visiting.
-Understood, my lady.
The similarities are uncanny.
[grunt]
-They sure are.
-All right, then.
Pick it up tomorrow morning.
It's getting dark out.
-What?
Tomorrow? Really?
-Yes.
He's gonna train us tomorrow, too.
-That's awesome.
-All right.
-Uh, wait, I uh-- oh.
Well, that's just great.
NARUTO AND SORA: All right!
All right!
[tapping]
NARUTO: OK.
I'm going to train like crazy today!
SORA: What?
That's not fair!
[growl]
-One more time.
-I'm just warming up.
-Unbelievable.
Their stamina levels are insane.
Not only do they railroad me into training them,
they scrub food off of me, too.
-Hee hee hee.
-Heh heh.
-Here you go .
Sorry to keep you waiting.
NARUTO AND SORA: Thanks for the food!
[slurping]
-Ahh.
ASUMA: Check please.
-Sure, you bet.
-And thanks for dropping in.
-Yeah.
I am stuffed.
-All right.
End of the road, fellas.
I can't watch out for you guys anymore.
You'll have to get the hang of it on your own.
-Yeah, totally.
I'll master it no problem.
-Hey, you might want to clean that sash there.
It's filthy.
-Oh, well, it's seen a lot of service, that's all.
-Oh, yeah?
My dad's was always nice and clean.
-Huh?
-It's so strange.
I don't remember my dad's face very well.
But still, I'll never forget that spotless sash he wore.
To me, my father is that dazzling white light itself.
Now when I think back on him, that's always what I see.
But then I hear people talk about him,
saying he was killed for trying to seize power
in The Land of Fire.
Whatever.
I think most of the time, people were just gossiping about him
intentionally so I would hear.
That's why I got a thank you.
I can't tell you how happy I was when you cleared that up
for me, old man.
[grunt]
-OK, then.
Time to get in some more training.
-Hey. No fair.
-Sora, wait.
Come on.
Walk with me for a bit.
It's just about time.
OK.
This is it.
-So what are we here for?
-Hey, pops.
That thing ready yet?
-Oh, hey, Asuma.
I had a hard time getting my hands on this much metal.
[clinking]
-Here.
-Hey, wait a minute.
Is that really--
[chime]
-Those are my-- but how?
-I had your claws fixed with the same materials used
in my chakra blades, kid.
Well, what do you think?
These are pretty much your style, right?
[chuckle]
-Amazing.
I just didn't feel right without these, that's for sure.
-No doubt.
So how long have you been using them for?
-Forever.
From the day I was born.
Why did you do this for me, anyway?
I-- Lord Chiriku asked you to do it , didn't he?
-Tell me.
What's the first thing you're supposed
to say when someone gives you something?
[grunt]
-That hurts, old man!
-I'm not an old man yet, kid.
[grunt]
-This is all I can really do to help.
The rest is up to you and your own determination.
-Yeah?
So what else is new?
I've always been on my own.
I don't need any help.
-That kid.
Always got something to prove.
But you were right, Chiriku.
He'll be better off here.
He wasn't meant for temple life.
-The Land of Fire doesn't need two kings.
The Leaf is just a military asset.
The hokage is superfluous.
We already have a man at the helm.
The feudal lord.
Forgive me, my lord.
I realize this is your time to rest.
-Asuma.
Have you betrayed us?
-The feudal lord will never accept your vision.
He's left everything here to me, and withdrawn to safety.
[grunt]
-Asuma.
-Kazuma.
The one who finished off Kazuma.
[giggle]
-Feeling sentimental?
Oh, hey Kurenai.
Want to catch a movie or something?
-You're not yourself.
You're smoking a lot.
Why don't you quit?
-Yeah.
Don't worry, I know.
KID: Daddy, buy me a big sweet potato.
-Huh.
-Yeah, sure.
I'll take three please.
-Coming right up.
-What happened?
I was sure he'd be right behind me.
DAD: Oh, thanks.
Hey, come on.
Say thank you.
-OK.
Thanks mister.
[laugh]
-Sure, kiddo.
Hey.
Why don't we make it five?
-Tell me.
What's the first thing you're supposed
to say when someone gives you something?
[interposing voices]
-Thank you.
Heh.
[music playing]
[jingling]
[jingling]
-Yo.
-You're that jerk from before.
You dare come here.
What are you after anyway?
-Oh, that's just too adorable.
So what are you?
All chummy with the Leaf now?
-I told you.
The Heavens have blessed you with incredible power.
[grunt]
-What a waste.
If it were me, I'd be using that power for the greater good.
-Yeah, like I'm going to believe anything you say.
-Settle down.
I'm only here because there's something I forgot to tell you.
Are you listening there, kiddo?
The one who killed your father is
none other than ex-guardian shinobi, Asuma Sarutobi.
You can decide whether you believe me or not.
-Why would Asuma do that?
-Give him those for me.
Later.
[music playing]
-What do you mean, Danzo's gone?
-Sora.
What's going on?
You've been acting weird since we got back and all.
Hey, what's up with you, man?
-Shut up.
Leave me the hell alone.
[japanese theme music]
NARUTO (VOICEOVER): That is so weird.
What's gotten into Sora all of a sudden?
SAI (VOICEOVER): Did something happen?
NARUTO (VOICEOVER): Hmm.
I don't know.
Can't think of anything.
Hey, you're always reading.
You don't have a book that could help us figure this out?
SAI (VOICEOVER): But Sakura said I
should start learning through experience.
NARUTO (VOICEOVER): Well, I gotta do something.
I can't keep butting heads with him forever.
SAI (VOICEOVER): Really?
But you love that kind of thing.
You have that in common with him.
NARUTO (VOICEOVER): Next time, Jet-Black Signal Fire.
