Migrating Birds

Sorry, sorry.

Are you very scared of me?

No. I just don't want to see you.

First of all, I didn't want to know you. You're the one who messed with me first.

Second of all, my mom didn't force your dad to marry her.

Mr. Liu said that he's the one wanting to marry my mom.

Shut up.

You don't know anything. You're only capable of trying to clear your mom's name with wishful thinking.

Nonsense! Stop talking about my mother that way!

Then stop your mom from marrying my dad!

Let go of me! Go away!

Let go of me!

Let go of her! What are you doing?

Do you want to fight?

When did you get a helper?

She is my future sister.

This is your older brother?

Don't pay attention to him. Take me away.

I want to ask you something.

Do you get along well with the person that is going to marry your mom?

Mr. Liu seems like a kind person.

He should be easy to get along with.

But the person I just saw doesn't seem to be an easy person to get along with.

I feel like he wants to bite you just based on his looks.

Every family has its issues. Don't mention him.

Why are you sighing?

Every family has its issues.

Ever since I hurt my leg, my mother stopped me from playing soccer.

She said that she'd make me quit the team once it gets better.

Then what are you going to do? Are you really going to quit the team?

Does it look like I'm going to give up easily?

But I do wish that I can grow up faster.

That way, no one can control me.

I can make my own decisions in everything I do.

What's good about growing up? I don't agree.

Moreover, what's good about not having someone take care of you?

It means that they don't care about you.

They don't need you anymore.

Have you tried skipping stones?

I've seen it on TV, but I've never played it before.

- Let me teach you. - I don't...

Come, come, come. It's really easy.

Just look for a rock like this.

It's so easy. Let me try.

What is this? I don't want to play anymore.

Don't go, don't go. Let's try one more time.

Let's bet on something this time.

The winner can ask the loser to agree to one thing.

If we tie, then you win. Is that fine?

- You've promised. - I promise.

Let's do it.

Pei Shangxuan, that was on purpose, right?

No. My hands were slippery.

Tell me, what do you want me to promise?

I want to grow up happily. Is that fine?

What? Is that all?

What? You can't do it?

What is there that I can't do? Leave it to me.

Stop bragging.

I'll give you another try.

I'm really good at skipping stones.

You're okay.

Don't scare the animals off.

Li Li.

What kind of present do you want when you become 18?

I wish to have a birthday dinner with our family.

I also want a pair of binoculars for birdwatching.

I'll make your wishes come true.

I have to let my precious daughter grow up happily.

Dad, I've grown up.

Wish me happy birthday.

Li Li!

Happy birthday!

I'm home!

Uncle!

You're back! I've waited for you for a long time!

Let's go watch a movie at night.

I can't. I have a date tonight.

But I promise to watch a movie with you another day.

Sis! I bought everything that you might need at home!

I'm not going to be home for dinner!

- Goodbye! - Uncle!

Wish me happiness!

Guo Qiang! Guo Qiang! Where's your uncle?

He said that he had some date with someone.

That's great.

Li Li, hurry and change. Let's go celebrate your birthday.

Mom, you're the best. Only you remember my birthday.

Mr. Liu also reserved a place in a restaurant especially

for your birthday.

You've grown up.

Mr. Liu really does treat me well.

I believe that his feelings for me are real.

Also, I believe that he will treat you as his own child.

Okay, mom. I understand.

Thank you.

Li Li, after today, you've grown up.

You're not allowed to be sad.

Wow, the salad here is so nice.

Also, look at this steak. It's so unique.

Li Li, hurry and thank Mr. Liu.

He ordered all of your favorite dishes.

Thank you, Mr. Liu.

It's fine, it's fine. You don't have to be so polite.

Li Li, you're the birthday star today.

I'll propose a toast to you.

Qianren, join us.

- Thank you, Mr. Liu. - Happy birthday.

I wish you a happy birthday...

I-I wish you a happy birthday!

Good luck with your schoolwork, and improve everyday!

Thank you.

I also

prepared a present for you.

As you may have thought, with this age,

I don't know what teenage girls would like,

so I asked Qianren to pick a present for you.

I hope you like it.

Old Liu, this dinner is already expensive enough.

You didn't have to buy her a present.

Don't be so polite. It's a given that I should.

Qianren, where's the present? Hurry and give it to Li Li.

Li Li,

take the present.

Open it.

I should open it when I get home.

I spent so much thought on this present.

If I don't get to see your reaction when you open it,

I'll be really disappointed.

Li Li, open it. You have to have manners.

Why is it broken?

This...

Qianren, what happened?

Why is the mirror broken?

It's fine, it's fine.

The employee probably broke it when packaging it.

That's okay. Broken glass represents good luck.

This present has a special meaning.

Shut up.

What's wrong with you?

Do you not know that today is her birthday?

How can you be so disrespectful and purposefully break the mirror?

How did I teach you?

I want to announce something in front of you two today.

Aunt Li and I registered our marriage today.

So from today onward–

Sit down.

You should really use the mirror to look at yourselves.

You guys don't deserve to be my family!

What are you talking about?

Old Liu.

Apologize!

Apologize.

Qianren! Qianren!

Old Liu, this is all my fault.

Did we do something wrong?

Don't be ridiculous.

You're not at fault. I'm not at fault.

Believe in me.

After the kids grow up, they'll come to understand.

Mom, Mr. Liu,

I haven't finished my homework. I'm going to head home first.

Li Li.

- Thank you, Mr. Liu. - Li Li.

It's fine. Let her go.

I... I think

I didn't take care of today's event well enough.

It's not your fault.

I don't blame you.

Li Li, happy birthday!

Li Li, today is your birthday. You're not allowed to be sad.

Let's make a wish and blow out the candle.

Li Li.

Today is your birthday. You've grown up.

You're not allowed to be sad. You're not allowed to be sad.

Uncle, I'm back!

Surprise!

Congrats!

Happy birthday!

This...

is a present that

I and your future aunt chose together.

We took an entire afternoon picking it.

We didn't even get to watch our movie.

And this.

This is a present your mom prepared.

This is what your father used back when you two watched the migratory birds.

Your mom went to the work unit to ask for it so many times

and they found it in a pile of discarded equipment.

It was especially dirty at that time.

Your mom took the effort to clean it.

Thank you, uncle.

Okay, okay. Be happy, be happy.

Here, here. Give me a smile!

Okay, okay.

Smile, smile, smile!

It's your birthday! You should be happy!

Be happy!

Okay,

I feel like with me, this oldie in the house, you guys won't be able to party and let go.

I have conscience. I'll party somewhere else.

Let's get hyped together!

How's it?

How did you guys know it was my birthday?

How is that hard? Teacher Gao told

us that we should have love between classmates, so he told us your birthday.

Wait a moment. I have a present for you.

There's even a surprise!

A cake.

What kind of surprise is this? It seems more like a shock to me!

- This is just a lump of– - Nonsense!

The cake I buy is obviously the best of the cake shop.

It used to be pretty,

but because the road was bumpy, it met a pretty unlucky fate.

I'm sorry. I'll buy you a new one tomorrow.

Thank you. I think it's fine.

It was once beautiful, am I not right?

Yeah.

Happy 18th birthday, Li Li. Make a wish!

Make a wish! Make a wish! Make a wish!

Okay, okay! I'll do it now.

♫ The hours tick by every minute and second. ♫ - Wait!

♫ The migratory birds fly past the sky together. ♫

♫ Can the late dreams ♫

- Li Li, ♫ from these past years restart? ♫

the 18th birthday is very special.

Congratulations on growing up.

Make a wish.

♫ It’s reminding me of unknowing fear. I, who is dull and ignorant, ♫

♫ really want to tell you: ♫

♫ Please don't disappear like the migratory birds do. ♫

♫ The love I want to give you is like fire. ♫

♫ I want you to hear ♫

♫ my promise to love you. ♫

Happy birthday!

Li Li, are you asleep?

Come in.

Li Li, can I discuss something with you?

Sure.

Mom, did I perform really terrible when

I suddenly left?

I'm sorry.

It's that I didn't think it through enough.

Initially, I wanted to ease in the feeling of us getting along as a family.

But I didn't think that things would end up this way.

I'm sorry, Li Li. You've suffered.

I don't feel like I've suffered. I'm actually glad.

You've always known what my wish was.

These binoculars...

I'll definitely protect them well.

Li Li, I have something to discuss with you.

Since I've already registered my marriage with Mr. Liu,

I want to take you and move into Mr. Liu's house, okay?

Mom, I'll go wherever you go.

I've grown up.

Don't worry. I won't make you angry anymore.

I'll make your every single day happy.

Thank you, Li Li. Good girl.

Mom, let's sleep together tonight. Is that fine?

Okay.

Let's go to sleep.

- Good night. - Good night.

So after growing up,

I can bravely control my own fate

and make the people beside me happy.

Perhaps growing like this isn't too bad.

Li Li, the 18th birthday is very special.

Congratulations on growing up.

Make a wish.

I know...

I know that you're not happy with moving to the study room.

But think about it,

our house is only this big.

We only have a few rooms. Li Li's a female.

Also, don't you always stay in the dorm at college?

You don't come home often.

That's why I told you to concede the room to Li Li.

Dad, if I said I like my room

and I like this bed, can I stay?

You're already allowing your son and another woman's daughter

to live together.

Qianren, you're now Li Li's older brother.

Isn't it obvious for a brother to love his sister?

Besides, from now on,

aren't we a family?

I haven't accepted being a family with her.

My mom is still alive. My mom didn't give birth to a younger sister.

What's with you?

Listen,

Auntie Li and I have already registered our marriage!

Why can't you still accept that fact?

Auntie Li is a great person.

Can't you believe in me? After she comes into this family,

she will love you like how she loves her own son.

Isn't our house now missing a female owner?

Why doesn't our house have a female owner?

I clearly saw how my mother cried and left.

Dad, let's be honest with each other today.

Why did you divorce my mom?

We've already divorced, no reason.

What are you laughing about?

Nothing. I'm just laughing at how stupid I am.

Such an easy question and I still asked.

What do you want?

I'm here to warn you

that you're not allowed to move into my house today.

If my mom wants to marry Mr. Liu,

that's between them. I respect their decision.

If my mom and Mr. Liu can be happy, then

I will support them and not stop them.

Can't you please listen to Mr. Liu's opinion?

Don't fight against my mom.

You've already forgotten what I've said.

If you two moved into my house, I have ways to make you guys leave.

Li Li, if you really care about your mom, you shouldn't let her come.

She'll have a hard time if she does.

Why is your heart so hard?

When did my mom bother you? Why are you bullying my mom?

Because the reason my parents got divorced is because of your mom!

Your parents got divorced before he knew my mom!

Don't think so highly of yourself.

- What are you saying?! - What do you mean?

- What are you doing? Are you trying to pick a fight here? - Don't!

Your escort, huh?

Like mother, like daughter.

Say that again!

You can't understand what I'm saying, right?!

Seems right.

For a person like you, who can't think and only uses violence,

it's normal to not understand.

Can you leave now?

A filthy mouth cannot utter decent language.

What are you looking at? Leave!

Li Li, don't listen to him.

- Uncle. - Li Li.

Li Li.

If we move out, you have to miss us.

Li Li, you've lived with me since you were young.

I lived, played, and studied with you.

Your mom and you are now leaving.

I feel as if I'm marrying off my own daughter.

I am useless and a good-for-nothing.

- Uncle. - Li Li.

If you have anything you're unhappy about, you can come find me.

This place will always be your home. I'm sorry.

You have to live happily.

You have to stay strong.

Stay strong. Stay strong. Stay strong.

Oh right, this is from express delivery.

It was supposed to have been here on your birthday, but there was nobody home.

Go help your mom.

I'm going to help them move it.

Wow, such a pretty doll.

Hey, look at this. This looks like you.

Look! This looks like you, a round face.

It's so expensive. I can't afford this with even 3 month's worth of allowance.

Yeah.

But it's pretty.

It's from Xiao Jun. She's not angry with me anymore.

I can't let mom know that Liu Qianren came to find me today,

or else she'll be worried.

Mom, what's wrong?

Nothing, I'm just cold.

I'll warm it up for you.

Your own little hands are cold and you're still warming mine up.

Mom, we've sent all of what we own to their house.

Can it all fit in Mr. Liu's home?

Don't worry, Mr. Liu said

Qianren is studying in college,

so he often stays in the school's dorm.

That's why he had Qianren move to the study room and

made his room yours.

Li Li, Mr. Liu is good to us.

For me,

some hardships we face, just hold it in. They'll pass.

Okay?

Mom, don't worry. I really like Mr. Liu.

I will have a good relationship with them.

Thanks.

Li Li! Li Li!

Mister, please pullover for a second.

Why are you here?

I went to your house and heard your uncle say

you left five minutes ago. This is for you.

Don't look down on it. I always depend on this to protect me whenever I compete.

An eagle is etched on here; it's called the sun bird.

It will protect all warriors under the blue sky.

If that guy bullies you again, with this thing's protection,

you will always win and your misfortunes will turn to blessings, okay?

It's going to be your good luck charm from now on.

What kind of expression is that?

What? Are you going to cry?

I'm not.

Li Li.

- Hello, ma'am. - Hi.

My mom's here, so I'll go.

Is he your classmate?

Li Li, goodbye. Ma'am, goodbye.

Goodbye.

This classmate of yours seems pretty good.

We're going to be late, mom. Let's go.

Li Li, this will be your house from now on.

Don't feel restricted. Just treat this place as your own home.

This used to be Qianren's room.

Even though the room is not that big,

but I think the brightness in here is nice.

I think the table's size is pretty good.

Right? Just Qianren, this child,

likes it dark, so at night

if you think the room is too dark, just tell me.

I'll get you a lamp, okay?

No need. Thanks, Mr. Liu.

Okay then. Organize the things as you please.

I'll go help your mom and see what she's missing.

I'll buy it for you guys, okay?

Okay.

Be comfortable, okay?

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by Timeless Lovebirds Team @ Viki

Didn't your mom teach you not to touch other people's things?

I didn't do it deliberately.

If you're really sorry,

take your mom away from here.

I won't tell anyone about what happened this afternoon,

but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Also, I will definitely keep a close eye on you.

I won't allow you to bully me or my mom!

How rare to meet such an obedient and filial daughter.

Okay, then. I'll do as you wish.

In the future,

I will play with you very well.

Whatever.

Hey, do you know that information we heard yesterday?

- Is it true? - Yeah, is it true?

I really can't imagine.

Li Li is usually such a good student.

Teacher Gao often says that she had good family upbringings, too.

How could this happen?

Hey, Li Jun, you're the closest to Li Li, so you must know about this.

- Hurry and tell us about it. - Yeah, tell us.

I don't know.

Aiya, don't hide it from us. Let us hear it.

I don't know! Stop gossiping.

Shu Min,

did you eat well this morning?

It's just gossip. It'll be gone after today.

Li Li, we saw that guy bothering you after school yesterday.

We couldn't stand how he was treating you.

We couldn't stand it.

Thanks, but I don't want to bother with him again.

Forget about it.

I just knew it! It must be all true.

- You guys– - What are you guys doing?

What's the point of joking about this?

Shangxuan, everyone heard about

Li Li's family issues yesterday, so we were a bit curious. We don't have any bad intentions.

Sun Yu, let me ask you something.

When our soccer team is on the field,

if an opponent

purposely frames our team to foul,

what should we do?

Everyone in our team is upright.

A foul is impossible.

If anyone dares to frame us, we'll never forgive him.

Okay. Since you've already said so,

Li Li is our classmate,

so we should treat her the same way.

I'm supporting Li Li. What about you?

We'll support her.

Support her.

♫ How are you today? ♫

♫ I’m talking to you while separated by the sky. ♫

♫ Can you let me walk you home again? ♫

Hey, Shangxuan, when did you start treating Abbess Miejue so well?

Is it what I think it is?

What would that be?

Whenever you're facing trouble, do I not support you?

I treat you, her, and the rest of the soccer team the same way.

But... Even though Abbess Miejue is tough,

she's still a girl. How could it be the same?

Actually, when faced with Li Li's family issues,

ordinary girls wouldn't even be able to handle it.

Also, we're in a mutual assistance group together.

She helps me improve my grades,

so I have to help her when she's facing obstacles.

That makes sense.

- Pei Shangxuan, you're so loyal. - Of course.

Li Li, dinner will be ready soon.

Okay, mom.

Mom!

What's wrong?

Have you seen the two dolls I put on my shelf?

Where would I find time to mess with your things?

Dinner will be ready soon. Hurry and come out.

Don't make the others wait for you.

- Hurry. - Okay.

You came in my room without even knocking. What great upbringing.

Did you take away my dolls?

If it wasn't you, I'll apologize for not knocking.

But if it was you, please return them to me.

So those two dolls were yours?

I thought they were trash, so I threw them away.

It really was you. Where'd you throw them?

At this time, they're probably in the garbage truck already.

You're too horrible!

- You're– - Li Li, where did you go?

Li Li, wash your hands and prepare to eat dinner.

Can you help me scratch my back? It itches so much.

- Over here, It itches so much. Hurry. - Where? - On my back.

That's right, the upper area.

- Is it better? - Scratch harder.

Li Li, is something on your mind?

Do you have problems with your homework?

If you need help with homework, you can ask Qianren.

That's okay.

Children don't have that many problems. Here,

eat a piece of meat.

Qianren, you have a piece, too. Look at how skinny you are.

Aunt Li is so thoughtless.

You clearly know that I don't like to eat meat fat,

but you gave me such a big piece.
