But then in the photo of my husband,
his eyes were completely black.
I remember what I saw in the viewfinder
when I took them.

she does when she doesn't want her picture taken.
I had a photojournalism professor
who used to call it "field memory"
when your memory was much better
than what you actually got on film.
It had to be that.
- And I love the group photos. - Yeah, they look great.

(Karen) The next day, I was completely distracted.

and back to testing out the camera.

And then in our room, the smoke was there again.
But there was something else under the bed.
