Lately, we've been receiving a great many prayers from the North.

They've requested our aid in dealing with some dangerous ghosts.

There are two junior officials from Middle Heaven coming to aid you.

Our business is on Mt.

Yuchun.

They say there's a ghostly groom living there.

So our goal for this task is to capture the ghost.

Do you know where the nearest Mingguang Temple is?

I'm sorry, but we don't have one here.

Oh, yeah.

As for the other mystery, why is there only one Mingguang Temple remaining?

And why is it behind a magic barrier?

Why were the other temples burned down?

You'd think it was an act of hatred.

But if that were the case, then what's the significance of the remaining temple?

And why are the brides housed here?

Also, did you notice how lifelike the statue of Mingguang was?

And according to the song I heard, the passing brides are forbidden to smile.

Does that mean that the ghost here resents their happiness for some reason?

If we look at all these elements together, it begins to paint a picture.

So the ghost groom is not a groom at all.

This vindictive spirit is in truth a bride?

And also, these brides died bearing a grudge.

Be prepared.

With their veils removed, their crutch was triggered

by the un-chi of the villagers.

They're monsters!

Help!

Outside.

Run!

They're coming!

Hello!

What now?

Go and shut the gate!

Hurry up!

But some of our men are still out there!

We ran away and left them!

Shut it!

Go kill someone else!

Idiots.

The louder you yell, the more you attract them.

Save them.

Then find the groom.

Stay away!

No!

Come on!

Come on!

I'm sorry.

I love it.

He's here!

Nan Feng.

Right.

Rest well.

Oh, no.

Help me!

No, stop running!

Oh, my God!

Run this way!

Mwah!

Over there.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

Yes.

Oh, my God.

I could use some wisdom right now.

Ling Wen, hello?

You did it!

I accept donations.

Nothing too small.

Wow, haven't used that line since my last acrobatics show.

Ling Wen.

Ling Wen.

Your Highness?

I finally got through.

I was busy attending a conference.

Do you have a question?

Has Mingguang had any romantic relationships?

Can I get some context, please?

It's complicated.

I'm being chased by corpses, so I'm wondering.

Has he dated a jealous woman?

Perhaps one with a disability?

One moment.

Ah, there.

When Mingguang, or Pei rather, was a human general,

he became entangled with a beautiful and

strong-willed woman from an opposing army.

Her name was General Xuan Ji.

General Xuan Ji?

Correct.

When she was defeated in combat and captured, she tried to take her own life.

But Pei stopped her.

Since the war had ended by that point, pay such one g for you.

However, Xuan Ji, being rather competitive, kept challenging him.

One thing led to another, and they fell in love.

Sounds rather romantic It was at first, yes

But eventually, Xuan Ji wanted a more serious relationship with Pei.

A committed one.

Is that bad?

He is an infamous philanderer.

And although the war was over, their countries were

still on bad terms with each other.

Why not?

That's better.

About Shinji's disability.

Do you know what it is?

She's here.

Ling Wen, why does that keep happening?

That noise, it must be the sound of footsteps.

But it's not like any kind I've heard before.

So what kind of person would make this sound?

Someone with a limp?

A leg injury, perhaps?

You must be Xuan Ji.

Greetings.

Did he send you here to get rid of me?

Come on his own?

He doesn't want to see me!

Oh, my darling Pei!

I betrayed my own country and left everything behind for you!

And now look where it's left me!

Is your heart made of stone?

Baby boo!

Baby boo!

She betrayed her country?

Did General Mingguang take advantage of her affection to acquire intelligence?

Then he injured her leg and abandoned her.

Can we talk?

My darling didn't come.

Pity.

All you unwanted guests.

We'll have to die!

Shinji...

I understand you're angry, but you can't take it out on innocent people.

Your actions have caused enough harm already.

Let me see him!

Come on!

Piss off!

I'm leaving!

It's dangerous here!

Then leave on your own!

You're a danger to us!

I'm taking...

My bounty!

No!

He's innocent!

Wait, stay inside!

Please, haven't you sinned enough?

Is he so afraid to come see me?

You were the hero of your nation, remember?

Stop hurting yourself and others.

I tried to hurt him!

I burned all of his temples!

And his followers were reduced to nothing, and still

he refused to come and stop me!

I've been waiting for years.

Are you too ashamed to see me?

Curse you!

Shinji!

Look at me!

Look at my mangled leg!

Everything I've done

I've done for you, and you won't even acknowledge me?

Watch out, sir!

I'll be alright.

You only like girls.

Who smiled?

I'll smile for you alone!

Not him!

All of them together!

Why are you looking away?

I'm right here!

Watch me!

Look at me!

Let go!

Hey, wait!

No!

You don't deserve him.

Perfect.

Now she can't interrupt us.

Go.

What's wrong?

Sir.

I tried my best, but I got in your way.

No.

Because of your distraction, I captured her.

You should be more careful.

Don't steal food anymore.

If he's hungry, he can come to me.

You mean it?

Thank you, sir

Yes, only I can.

Looks like she's completely lost control.

Are you watching now?

Look at me!

When a wrath releases its strength like this, humans crumble like paper.

If only I had my mana.

What?

We'll be alright now.

Help is here.

General Pei.

He really came.

Well met, your highness.

Ling Wen spoke to me.

Seems Mingguang Palace should help you with this.

It's our problem, too.

In that case, I'm grateful to you both.

It's you!

Finally!

You came for me?

You're not Pei Ming.

Who are you?

General Pei is busy.

Isn't he General Pei?

Yes, but there are two of them.

He's a descendant of General Pei, a deputy in Mingguang Palace.

Pei Jr., we call him.

Now, Shunji, I'll escort you to heaven.

He would cross half the country just for a chance to be with me!

And you tell me he's too busy that he can't come to see me?

I'm supposed to believe that?

Take her.

General Pei.

Might I ask, where will Xuan Ji be held?

Sealed beneath a mountain.

I fear that won't hold her.

She committed treason for paying he injured her leg in return.

That's quite a grudge.

She blames him for her leg?

She told you that?

Is that not correct?

She indeed committed treason for Pei, but the leg injury was her own doing.

It began when Xuan Ji was captured by General Pei.

Check the exterior of the cab.

Yes, sir!

Line up here.

The war has ended.

Your nation can no longer oppose us.

So please don't struggle over nothing.

Enough lives have been lost already.

Please reconsider.

Whatever you want, you can't have it!

I have all I need.

That face...

Has anyone ever told you, you're lovely?

If only you'd smile more often.

A general must assert their authority.

What use is a smile to me?

Each day we live could be our last, so why not live in the moment?

And so they abandoned all thoughts of the future.

and shared their love in every second they could spare.

However, Shunji began to long for a committed relationship.

But General Pei found such willfulness stifling.

He thought Shunji was too demanding.

In the end, the two were incompatible.

Pardon?

The situation has changed.

We're opposing leaders.

Understand?

Your people still need your support.

So help them.

What about us?

Don't you care?

What will be, will be.

Have I wronged you?

Let me fix it.

What must I do?

You've done nothing wrong.

Don't say such things.

Love comes and goes.

There's nothing to regret.

What's this?

It's a map, detailing my army's next operation.

With this, you'll win the war.

When you are victorious, I'll return home.

Then will you join me, my darling?

You triumphed, just as I said you would.

And now we can be together forever!

I'm disappointed in you.

No!

Why, my love?

I was willing to betray my homeland for you.

How could you ever treat me like this, my love?

Taste something.

Turn around.

Look at me.

Fine, then.

I'll make you look- Dammit, I couldn't stop her!

She stabbed her own leg so that General Pei would feel obligated to care for her.

And so he did, generously, in fact, despite the circumstances.

But kindness aside, he would not marry her.

Upon seeing her dream shattered, Shunji took her own life.

She wanted to hurt General Pei's heart by

hurting herself, but his feelings would not be swayed.

I can't say who's truly at fault.

But if Shunji had been able to move on, we'd all be better off.

I curse you, Peiming!

Count yourself fortunate that you've never known true love!

Because it would burn you as its merciless

flames have burned me every moment since you turned me away.

Oh, hell, the fire rages on till your heart is reduced to ash!

That would never happen.

That's his last message to you.

I curse you, Pei!

I curse you, Pei!

I curse you!

Till next time, your highness.

She's a mess.

We're outsiders.

We can't judge.

But I do feel sorry for the victims who were dragged into this.

I don't...

SIGHS

Well, that's quite the whirlwind romance General Ming Guang had.

I thought you ran away.

Why are you back?

Just be grateful you don't have to move the corpses.

You're only good at cleaning.

Harden!

Wait, when are you gonna take that wedding dress off?

Oh no, I was wearing this while I was talking to Pei.

Nothing makes that guy blink.

Don't worry.

Really?

Peichu ascended a hundred or so years back.

But he was given his position in his 20s.

Not fond of him.

Same as his ancestor.

He was involved in a dreadful incident.

Have you heard?

No.

A massacre.

There aren't a lot of officials up there I trust.

Well, some of them are trustworthy.

Oh, you mean like your general?

Certainly not yours.

Can this wait?

There's still work to be done.

What about the villagers?

They've agreed not to sell the corpses nor engage in any other illicit business.

They also promised to pray and offer incense for

the brides who met their end here.

That boy can't stay on the mountain.

Where should he go?

Up to heaven with his highness?

We need a better solution.

I can hardly take care of myself.

She's in a better place.

You have to live.

Try to be brave.

Do it for her sake.

Your head is bleeding.

Take off the bandage.

Let me help you.

I don't care!

I don't care!

I don't care!

Multiphase disease?

But how?

It should have died out long ago.
