Original subtitles

Previously on Tempting Fortune,

the 11 remaining fortune-seekers continued their gruelling 18-day trek

through the Malaysian jungle. Ooh.

To win whatever's left of a 300-grand fortune.

To keep the money intact,

they must resist spending it on tantalising temptations.

Two grand is a bargain.

Because whatever they spend comes off the group's prize pot.

They're spending my money.

Ah, my God.

On their first night trek...

Look how high that is.

..Vicki continued to struggle with jungle life.

I honestly don't know if I can make it to the end.

It's about time I treated myself.

David succumbed to his first temptation...

I didn't take one Haribo. Well done.

Yeah, I took the whole pack.

..and as lies were exposed...

Oh, my God. Did you eat the doughnut, mate?

Ye-e-e-es. And I'm so proud of it.

..trust was broken.

Argh.

This is a dream come true.

And faced with a £1,000 overnight stay...

Smoked salmon, avocado and eggs.

THEY LAUGH

..Martha became the next new spender.

This is the only chance I'm going to get, to take something like this.

And Tomasz's spending continued to spiral.

All you're doing, you're being greedy.

Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, yeah, go on, tell her.

It's 7 AM and the fortune-seekers are waking up

to their eighth day in the jungle.

I am absolutely shattered.

Another night laying on wood is just crucifying my hips.

It's just hell. A stuffy, smelly, stinky, sweaty tent,

and they're in this hotel that's got a pink phone in it.

Last night, I slept on a wooden plank.

And over there, there's a bed. There's a shower, there's food.

This, to me, is discomfort and pain.

Last night's two-grand spend in the hotel by Tomasz

and Martha means that after just a third of their journey,

the group has taken more than £41,000 from the 300-grand prize pot.

Well, it feels so good to wake up,

and not be all clammy and sticky and sweaty.

O-M-G, I've had so much sleep.

An waking up and seeing the camp... HE CHUCKLES

..send me back to my pink bed.

Thanks, babe, that's enough for me. I'm struggling to swallow the slop.

This is a killer. It's actually a killer.

Just pretend it's pancakes.

Vick, you're not eating enough. Come and share mine.

Just don't get overwhelmed. Do one thing at a time.

The most important thing first.

I can't. No, no. Pinch your nose.

pinch your nose and swallow it. It's horrible!

Everything about this experiment is not Vicki's thing.

Pinch your nose and swallow.

It's just not her.

SHE RETCHES I can't.

SHE RETCHES

SHE SPITS

If I have one temptation, I think that might be bad news.

It's like forbidden fruit. Once you get a flavour for it in your head,

there's no going back. Yeah. Well, look at Tomasz.

Yeah, yeah. I know, look at Tomasz.

He loves enjoyment, that's him.

Everyone loves that. Know what I mean?

I find it hard to believe that he hasn't had

a pint of Guinness, or stayed in a hotel before.

At least he's enjoying himself. This is his thing.

So is the doughnut and so is the pool.

A joke, that guy.

I actually cannot believe the lack of empathy of

the other group members towards people who take temptations.

I would have took that hotel, but I am too scared of

the judgement from the rest of the group.

I haven't seen you smile in ages.

It's because I'm not taking temptations.

So, it's making my journey harder. Yeah.

If I'd have got a night in there, I'd have probably...

Yeah, but then we could all say that.

And there could be people spending every single night,

or every single day, and... Yeah, I know. I know.

It's like... That's what... That's what willpower is.

I think Vicki needs to either grow some balls

and get on with it, like the rest of us,

or leave. Because otherwise,

she's just going to keep using the temptations.

Having already spent £4,050, if Vicki was to quit,

a further 30 grand would be deducted from the prize pot.

The only way I can get through this is to take the temptations,

but it's making me feel selfish. But then is it selfish?

Because I am the one that's struggling the most.

Can't do it.

Guys, can I chat to you all?

Morning, guys. Morning, everyone. You all right?

No. Morning, sweetheart. Morning, darling.

SHE LAUGHS Hello, hi.

How are you guys this morning?

Well, I've got an announcement. Oh, my God. What's going on?

I'm going home.

THEY GASP Oh, no. Are you, actually?

Oh, my God. Vicki. Oh, Vick.

I'd have loved last night...but I can't justify spending £2,000

of other people's money. If it was my money,

I'd have been in there with you last night. I know.

I'd have took every temptation. I just...

I can't spend other people's money.

It doesn't.... Doesn't sit right with you?

Thank you so much. Don't change who you are.

If I was to say, I know I'm going to have to

spend other people's money...

..which means I'm not able to be myself.

And you know what? Sometimes, you need to admit defeat.

Right, let me get my shit.

It is going to be so weird without Vicki in camp.

And it's really... It's really sad.

There will be some people that are upset

that they've just lost out on 30 grand.

But if they really care to think about how hard this was for Vicki,

30 grand is almost justifiable.

Adios, amigos. Bye, darling.

See you. Go and enjoy life.

Vicki's departure, plus all the money she spent on temptations,

has cost the group a total of £34,050.

And then there were ten.

I think that she should have quit earlier.

Because she stayed, she was spending, spending, spending.

But now, we've lost all that money, plus the 30k.

Well, the prize pot's fucked, isn't it?

I've never known anyone to whine

and moan as much as Vicki. She's lazy,

and got no willpower. Hope she's happy.

It does mean that we will lose 30 grand off the prize.

I don't want the group getting weak at this point.

I just want to get us past the finish line,

without making too many mistakes.

Oh, what a morning.

The fortune-seekers aren't even halfway through yet,

and they've already spent nearly a quarter of that 300-grand prize pot.

So, what they need is a pricey, five-star breakfast.

Well, some of them do, anyway.

Oh, my gosh. Bring them in.

Oi. Oh, my God.

This way, mate. This way.

A cup of tea, that's what I miss,

especially first thing in the morning.

Oh, my God. Look at that. SHE LAUGHS

Seriously, girl, that is insane.

Oh, my God. The tomatoes, the tomatoes.

Mmm. Can the guys see us?

Hello.

There's a large case of FOMO at the moment,

getting to see how they're enjoying that hotel.

I'm seeing banana pancakes with caramel sauce.

Look, Martha's scoffing it, she is.

Yeah, well, don't forget. Tomasz has had stuff, Martha hasn't.

There are no words to describe how I'm feeling.

The prize money, to me, is the group's money,

that's how I see it. He's not treating himself.

It is just, "I'm here to take the absolute mick."

I think Tomasz has had enough, you know?

He had a lovely time in the pool, he ate the doughnut,

he had a pint of Guinness.

Now, he's spent the night in the hotel.

You know, like, calm down, mate.

Mmm. You know, this is good.

This is what's going to get us through.

THEY LAUGH

I think Vicki proved that you need the temptations.

Some people in the camp will be angry with me,

but then you have to think about yourself.

I mean, the hotel was built for me.

People need to start taking more temptations,

because then they won't be as aggy.

You are on my page, finally.

We are the ones who are going to convince people now

to take temptations, because that was amazing.

Have you got the hammer? Let's get these hammered in.

What they doing out here?

Guys, guys, guys, guys. Come here.

The food was really nice. I've had salmon,

two toasts, eggs, avocado. It was really good.

And then the coffee was really nice, as well. So, yeah.

What gets me with Tomasz, he comes back to camp,

so loud and proud about what he's done.

I just feel like it's a bit in-your-face,

because I've tried very hard to resist temptation for

the greater good of other camp mates,

and the money is important to me.

I've got a family at home. I want my missus to be proud,

when I come out. I've done it for the family.

Yeah. HE LAUGHS

I'm extremely annoyed.

Can't believe he can prance around in silk pyjamas,

in front of his camp mates and think that's OK.

It's an absolute joke.

I'm just going to let you all know now, if he continues

to be this selfish and spend our money...

..I will drain the tank,

and I will make sure no-one goes home with anything.

Every single temptation, I will take to the max.

No-one's going to bleed the pot dry. No, he is a loose cannon.

But one loose cannons better than two loose cannons.

No, Vicki's gone. And I'm that pissed off,

if he continues, like I say, I will flip this shit over.

I promise you now, it'll all be gone.

Sam, that's not fair on the rest of us.

At the end of the day, there's a £300,000 prize pot.

We was never gonna walk out of here

with 300,000, that was never, ever, ever going to happen, right?

There was always going to be people,

the takers and whatever you want to call them.

But if the people that wasn't going to take start taking,

then we're stuffed.

The best thing is not to wind him up.

Cos when he gets emotional, he spends more.

Think about it. Just think about it, just think about it.

I'm not getting to the end where there's hardly any money left.

I'd rather just drain it and have a great time,

and go home with nothing.

Sam seems to have hit breaking point,

Sort of, given us the ultimatum. "Get him in control,

"otherwise I'm gonna spend everything." It's crazy.

Sam is an impulsive array of emotions.

Aggression isn't the way forward. I do have to watch her.

I will make Tomasz walk out of here asking everybody else for a fiver

for a taxi home, if he carries on.

Eight days in and Vicki's just quit...

Team's starting to disband slightly.

..Costing the fortune seekers £30,000.

I know it's difficult. We may not all like each other,

but we need to rally together

and support one another to get to the end.

And with Tomasz and Martha blowing two grand on the hotel,

Sam has threatened to drain the prize pot,

plunging the group into disarray.

I do see myself as the leader of the group,

spokesman for the vast majority.

So, being the eldest of seven, I'm naturally a leader.

Hugo? Could you wrap this to that tall pole at the top?

As a personal trainer,

I'm used to people doing what I say. And if they don't,

I'm used to finding a way that I can get them to do it.

Sam is itching for some authority.

Unfortunately, you have to earn it around here.

Sam, can we have a talk? Yeah.

I'm the landlord at the moment...

..and I plan to be for a little while. So...

..she'd better get in line.

No-one's gonna bleed the pot dry.

If the spenders keep...being selfish,

and taking everything that they get their hands on,

then I'm going to turn it round and spend everything.

You do realise, yeah, as a team,

we are going to have to get on at some point?

The other day, you were saying

you've got no respect for Tomasz at all. I don't.

All his actions that he's shown to me,

I don't respect, I've said that to him.

But he's part of the group, he's not going anywhere.

We're all here for 18 days.

You're going to have people that are your favourites,

you're going to have people that you don't really respect or like,

but we're all together.

I respect the fact that you want to keep the peace

for certain things, but that's not who I am.

Let's just agree to disagree,

but we can still coexist and be buddies.

Yeah, cool.

Job done.

Sam just had a little moment, you know,

it gets hot out here, but, hopefully,

that's calmed down and we can get back

to...pretending to be one, big, happy family.

Nathaniel has put himself in a position,

where he has some influence over probably everybody in the group...

..apart from myself.

So, let's see if he can reign them in.

Nathaniel's bid to keep control of the group's spending

is going to be a challenge, especially if they're offered

a temptation away from prying eyes and peer pressure.

I have a little note. Here we go.

"Before today's trek begins, put yourself into pairs."

Oh, my gosh. Why have we got to get into pairs?

You and me, mate. Yes, come on. Cool.

Imani and Tomasz, me and Henry.

We're good, aren't we? Yeah, we'll do it.

David and Nathaniel.

What could it be? I have no idea.

What the fortune-seekers don't know is that they're about

to face an ultimate taste of home, a perfect pre-trek pick-me-up.

The Coffee Stop...

..offering a much-needed caffeine fix,

accompanied by an irresistible array of croissants,

cinnamon buns and Danish pastries. And to test if group peer pressure

has been influencing people's decisions,

this time they'll be offered the temptation in pairs.

It's interesting that they've put everyone in twos, innit?

Yeah, definitely going to be a temptation for pairs.

I feel like we're in the same, kind of, head space.

You do something, I do something. We're almost,

like, kind of attached by an invisible cord.

"Special offer two-for-one.

"Any pastry and any drinks for 250." Go on.

SHE LAUGHS

They smell absolutely incredible.

Will we tell the others? They're going to ask.

I can't lie, I've not got a very good poker face.

SHE EXHALES Ah.

Oh, tea.

EXAGGERATED POSH VOICE: Can I interest you, my kind fellow,

in a pastry and a lovely cup of jubbly?

We could either just, like, leave it. Yeah.

Or we just go rogue. We just go on a fucking rampage.

Don't go too close.

I wonder how many couples will take this today?

Trish and Sam. I think Sam would rather die than have a temptation.

Yeah. Nathaniel and David?

Nah.

I do like cinnamon rolls.

You know, this is definitely right up my street.

I've had my coffee, I'm sorted. OK. Well, to be honest,

this one doesn't really do it for me.

I'll be very strong and I'm going to leave it.

You're going to leave it?

I actually think that a few members of

the camp might take it, like Thom or Hugo,

not because they're necessarily needing it,

but I think they actually want to start having some fun.

If you want it, I'll piggy-back and have the two-for-one.

Not a tea, not a coffee person. Oh, you're not?

I think we have to pass on this one. Thank you, sir. Maybe next time?

At home, I live quite a privileged life, you know,

impulsive spending and instant gratification.

So, originally, when I came into this,

I thought I didn't have that much willpower.

I have had to rein myself in,

when I've been faced with a temptation,

but I've surprised myself with how I've adapted.

I have managed to find my jungle side.

So, now, I'm set on trying to resist all temptations.

I'm starving, man. I don't drink tea or coffee...

..but I like the look of those pastries, though.

It's two for 250.

I'm not going to have anything, but you can have.

I'm not going to have two, am I?

You're not gonna pay for two. Sam, please.

Please. I can't.

Yes, you can. Two teas and two pastries for her.

Your first cup of tea.

You know, just to see Trish's face was just lovely.

You know, she's 60 years old. She's got bad hips.

She absolutely, thoroughly deserves it this morning.

Oh, my God. It tastes amazing.

And you've got breakfast for tomorrow morning.

You should be tucking in a little bit.

No, thank you. I'm good.

There'd be absolutely nothing you could say...

..or anyone, to make me indulge in anything.

Stubborn cow.

Obviously, you're a vicar. Yeah.

So, people come to you and they give you their confessions.

Are you under oath to keep that to yourself?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I always keep it. I always keep it to myself. OK.

I won't say nothing.

All right, there we go. We'll get two cinnamon rolls.

Coming into this experiment, I wanted to resist temptations...

..but sometimes you do need to take a little bit

to get yourself through, as long as you've earned it.

It's so good, man.

Cheat day, today.

Being a vicar, lying would be like a sin.

Like, Nathaniel's my brother.

You don't want to tarnish his image of

the camp president. So, yeah,

I'll probably just try not to say much about what happened.

I'm not trying to spend all the money,

but I've earned the right to eat.

The team needs to feel like they have a strong leader.

And if we can keep it under oath...

..still keep the structure of the group, I'm all for that.

Bad boys for life.

We ride together, we eat cinnamon buns together.

There we go, my brother.

Two pairs have given in to temptation,

so another £500 has been taken from the group's prize pot.

But will anyone own up?

OK. Come on then,

spill the beans. So, what happened with you two?

Nah. We didn't have it, nah.

Did you have it? I didn't.

To be honest with you, we had the coffee...

Well, I had the coffee in the hotel.

To be honest, it just didn't move me.

I had it. I saw a cup of tea, and it was like, "Ah."

For tea and pastries? You couldn't hold out for a bit?

No. Madam here would not take a thing,

and I weren't going to waste two croissants.

So, did you bring the rest back?

Yeah, I've got a whole almond croissant.

So, that leaves us. Yeah. Obviously, guys, every temptation,

I get excited. Wahey-hey. But you know...

You've come back hyper, David.

Yeah, but, you know, being with The Terminator.

We didn't take it. We left it, we left it. Yes, boys.

No, fair enough. Fair enough.

David and Nathaniel,

I don't trust them as far as I can throw them

and I have no upper body strength, so I can't throw them very far.

Fair play to Trish.

I know how much Thom likes a good cup of tea,

and I feel like Hugo would have got excited with one of the pastries.

So, I'm not sure if I believe them or not.

David and Nathaniel. Obviously,

Nathaniel is kind of the anchor for the group,

he's someone who thinks quite rationally.

I think those two, I'm 99.5% sure they haven't taken it.

I think the group's bought it. This is a tester for David,

just to test his loyalty. It's the first,

and I don't think it'll be the last. Mission complete.

Ready? Get out of here.

Let's do it, team.

We've got this today, guys. Let's go.

The group's next camp lies eight kilometres away and,

to reach it, they must traverse a 400-metre-high mountain with

an extreme gradient, all in 96% humidity.

So hot today. I feel like even my underwear is wet.

Oh.

The conditions are particularly difficult.

Obviously, it's been raining, it's super slippery.

It is literally like this,

you're climbing up, like, a vertical slope.

It's tough today. It's no laughing matter,

and I'm built of tough stuff, but this is, erm...

This is hard for me today.

This is brutal. It's just relentless, up, up, up, up.

HE LAUGHS Every part of me wishes I took

the croissant and the cup of tea.

Rumour has it, Trish still has a bit left.

So, I'm going to keep sucking up to Trish,

and I think I'll get a little nibble later.

You all right, Trish? Yeah, I'm. I'm fine, thank you.

You doing all right, yeah? That's good. Yeah. Thanks, mate.

How you feeling today?

It's all right, you know? I'm all right today.

This is probably my worst one, I'd say.

Yeah?

You've got to slow it down, mate. In through your nose,

out through your mouth. It's definitely different today.

It's a bit more challenging, right, than the other days?

100%. 100%.

HE LAUGHS Oh, mate.

It's been all right.

Ready for the next bit? Right, slowly.

I'm finding today all right, you know?

I'm fully revitalised, I'm feeling good.

I don't know why they're complaining.

Come on, David. Let's go.

Come on.

I'm in PT mode right now, let's go.

Oh, shit, bugger.

Woah, woah, woah.

Fucking hell. Nathaniel's at the front, yeah?

He walks ahead, and we can't even see him.

Sometimes, he disappears, and we can't see him.

He should be there, helping other people.

Oh.

I can see something, guys.

After nearly seven hours in the sweltering jungle...

Ah, camp.

..their basic camp for the evening is in sight.

I am fucked.

Woo! Wow.

My legs just feel like pieces of rope

hanging off the bottom of my body.

Argh.

That was definitely the worst trek.

Felt like one of those casual relationships,

it just never ends.

And, by the time it ends, you're just exhausted.

That was horrendous. Yeah.

I'm all right. Shall we get started with this camp?

Do your thing, Sam, when you're ready with the fire. You busy?

OK. Henry, you busy?

Let's spread out the tent then, get that over.

People need to respect their leader.

Respect is a product of admiration and fear,

but I've chosen the admiration route and it's working for me.

Need someone in the middle.

SHE SIGHS Gosh.

Nathaniel and David want dinner in bed.

It's like a five-star hotel, this is.

Why don't they come out here? They're just being lazy.

That's being lazy. I agree, when it comes to Nathaniel.

I'm going to deliver it to them.

She's doing room service.

I personally wouldn't be doing room service.

Dinner's ready.

"Where's Nathaniel? Where's Nathaniel?"

I'll tell you where he is every night, in the tent,

while we're all slaving outside. He does absolutely nothing.

A leader is a person who actually helps first.

Being a leader is leading by example. He's selfish.

People in the group look up to him. But, really,

he doesn't actually care about these people.

I'm onto Nathaniel.

The fortune-seekers have reached

the halfway point in their epic quest to emerge from

the Malaysian jungle with some serious cash.

I'm so hungry. So hungry.

But after nine days of back-breaking treks,

fatigue is taking its toll...

..for most of them, anyway.

David, David, David.

Fortunately, Trish has a morning surprise,

following yesterday's secret temptation.

Thank you. Enjoy, enjoy.

This morning, Trish had a bit

of croissant that she wanted to share with the team.

Yesterday, alongside David, I took the cinnamon roll.

Nobody knows that I took the temptation.

Now. No? SHE LAUGHS

He's saying, "Go away."

Me taking a sugary snack would definitely raise

a few eyebrows, but I feel like my body

is starting to demand some more protein.

Smell, smell.

Oh, it's heaven. I do want a pick-me-up.

That thing will not pick you up.

No, take no notice of him. If you want a piece... No, no, no.

Get it away from me, please, cos I nearly just grabbed it.

Once I get the taste of it, you're gonna unleash a monster, man.

You know, I don't want to rattle this cage, man.

You've got to get on top of your willpower.

I am on top of it now, if you wouldn't mind fucking off

with the fricking croissant? SHE LAUGHS

I mean, I laugh and joke about my impulsivity,

but I had a big problem with gambling for a long time.

I was completely out of control with it.

I realised something's got to change.

Having my little boy, like, overnight,

I changed. I'm supporting my whole family now.

I would never see my family go without.

No. Please, please.

Hugo.

That'll just make you more jealous of, like, other shit to come.

Out here, without Hugo, genuinely,

it'd be a real struggle for me. We're so different,

but we're so similar.

So, he's just got a bit of a happy-go-lucky look at life.

He's the one keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Camp, I've got a map.

OK. OK.

Oh. Right. There is quite a bit of water.

Today's trek consists of a seven-kilometre wade through

a snake-infested mangrove.

Before crossing the vast Tanjung Rhu River,

where the group will need to work together to navigate

the dangerous current.

Smells bad, man. Smells like a dead elephant.

I don't know if it's the jungle or us.

Guys, it's very soggy here.

Urgh, it's disgusting.

Here comes trouble.

Wow. Not the best type of water I've seen in my life.

This is definitely the most challenging trek for me.

As hard as the other treks have been,

I would do that all day, every day, to avoid this rancid water.

Really deep.

OK, swim time.

Don't panic. Breathe, guys.

SHE SCREAMS Oh, God, sorry.

I don't know what to do.

Guys, I'm going back. Oh, my God.

Are you going back? I'm going back.

You've got this, Imani. Hold onto my... Yeah, that's it.

Thank you, Tom. I really appreciate you.

You're my best jungle friend for a reason. Urgh.

Let me just have a little toilet now.

Oh, my gosh. Are you doing a wee?

If it weren't for crocodiles, it'd be really relaxing.

You know what I mean?

If a crocodile came, I'd be a sitting duck.

To be fair, if I was a crocodile, I'd eat you first of all, Dave.

It's the way you're flapping about and that.

Something my nan always used to say to me,

"Never let a reverend loose in a mangrove." And, and here we are.

David, do not drink it. Oh.

Ah, this is ridiculously heavy.

Just keep moving.

Well done, guys. Right, it's time to wait now.

Yeah. That was decent.

See, that is why. See all that!

Oh, my God. Now, I've got my shoes wet.

Oh, my gosh. I'm exhausted.

I need some food. Getting hungry now.

If there's a temptation of some peri-peri chicken,

then I'm definitely a goner. 100%.

I don't even eat Nando's and that sounds nice.

Yesterday, the group put themselves into pairs to face

a secret temptation. Now, as a result of this,

very strong bonds were formed. But how will our fortune-seekers fare

without their closest ally to rely on?

Oh, my gosh.

Right. "From this point, you will be divided into two groups."

Very interesting.

"Group one, Imani, Nathaniel, Trish, Thom, Martha."

OK. So, we're on this side, guys.

"Group two, Tomasz, Sam, David, Hugo and Henry."

Oh, my God, we're splitting up. This is bad.

HE LAUGHS Don't leave me.

One of my best friends in here, Thom,

I'm separated from him. Gutted about that.

Oh, my God.

Prefer to stay with Nathaniel, you know, bad boys for life.

I feel like I'm on the B-team.

My group is a bit trigger-happy, when it comes to spending.

We'll just have to see what happens.

I'm going to cry. HE LAUGHS

You'll be good, babe. You'll be good.

You've got ana amazing team there, you have. Mm-hmm.

See you soon, Tomasz. I love you.

Love you more.

I would rather tattoo my eyeballs than spend any time

with Tomasz, but I believe he's in my group.

Sam has so many issues towards my person.

Literally, this is the worst day of my life.

Well, now seems like the perfect opportunity to lighten

the mood in camp.

Since they arrived in the Langkawi wilderness,

the only takeaway our group have experienced is taking away from

the prize pot. But tonight,

it's less about fortune-seeking and more about fortune cookies.

Welcome to The Sizzling Wok,

an all-you-can-eat buffet of succulent Chinese food.

But when our fortune-seekers see the price,

will they be left sweet, or sour?

I wonder how long we'll be separated from the other group?

I would love to be a fly on the wall in that other camp.

Tomasz will rattle her, that's what I think. Yeah.

He'll. He'll get under her skin, somehow.

There's absolutely going to be no chaos in this camp,

and then no-one gets stressed. Yeah, we're going to be fine, guys.

It's going to be different, for sure.

It's going to be a different experience...

..because we are divided. There's going to be less shouting.

You are the loudest, though.

If you just come down a notch, that would just be fantastic.

Then we can all talk in a reasonable voice, like.

Yeah? And if you can smile sometimes,

as well, it'll be quite nice. I do smile.

Yeah? I smile a lot, just not when I'm around you.

Yeah. Guys, chill.

Would you two like to have, like, a private chat?

No, I'm good, thanks. OK.

It was quite awkward. I thought we'd at least maybe give it,

like, an hour or two before they started.

You can really feel the discord within the group.

She's still upset that he's taken temptations.

It's... It's just so obvious.

It's her problem, not mine.

I'm 40 years old, man. I will do what I want.

She didn't show me any compassion, she didn't show me any friend-ness.

There's no need to start a bad atmosphere in the camp,

when we don't need to have one, but, obviously,

I'm going to stand my ground.

He's pathetic, he's weak. He's got no willpower.

I think, you know, obviously,

Tomasz is taking a lot of temptations.

If there are temptations, he might use them as,

like, escapism. Do you think, Sam,

you would be able to play the game of trying

to make him feel more integrated?

I'm not fake, so it's going to be really hard for me to pretend.

But your goal is to reduce the temptation-taking.

To reduce the amount of money spent,

you have to play a bit of a part in that.

I really think you should try and be,

like, as civil as possible. That'll...

I think we stand a good chance of not taking

any temptations this evening.

It's going to take everything I've frigging got inside.

Right, OK, I'll just...

Yeah, give it a go. Yeah.

SHE SCOFFS Tomasz needs stroking.

So, unfortunately, I'm going to have to be nice to him,

because that's what's going to rein him in and stop him from spending.

We understand that you want to have some experiences, and I... Yeah.

I want you to, mate. Honestly, I don't want you to go home

and think, "Oh, I wish I'd done that."

But then we're just asking you to see our side of it, as well,

and maybe just try and show a little bit

of self-control in certain things, not just take everything.

I understand you want to have a good time, as well.

It's difficult for everyone, isn't it? Which I appreciate.

Yeah, I get what you're saying.

You know, if somebody comes to me, and has a conversation with me,

then I'm happy to forgive. I can forgive her.

Also, with taking temptations,

I know I've got to, kind of, step back a little bit.

Now, I'm thinking of only taking temptations

which I really, really want.

There's wanting and then there's needing.

Apart from the odd temptation,

it's been nine days since the fortune-seekers had

a meal that wasn't rice and beans.

So, when will that want become a need?

Hey. Come on. The Sizzling Wok. Woo.

Fucking hell. A cheeky Chinese.

And chairs. Just imagine, no cooking tonight, no having rice.

Cleaning pots. This is the one made for me.

My God.

Oh, my... Oh, my God.

Oh, gosh. Oh, you... You are so evil.

Curry and something. Chow Mein.

Ooh, that's so sweet. Mmm.

Tofu. Vegetarian, guys. Tofu is my favourite. Sweet.

Oh, that smells so good.

I'm not going to lie this is... This is tempting.

It looks like it's all-you-can-eat, as well.

I'm in heaven. Mmm.

Better than rice and beans. It is.

So, what's...? So, wait. So, where's everyone at?

I'm excited to know how much.

Shall we have a look at the book, yeah?

"It's a group price for the buffet.

"Once three or more members of your group agree to take

"the temptation. The whole group is welcome to eat.

"Only three people have to agree."

Shall we check the price? Yeah.

That is expensive. We need to think.

We need to think about this. I'm excited, guys.

Our hungry fortune-seekers have been split into two camps.

Now, they must decide whether

to blow 4.5 grand on an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet...

That's a rip-off. That is a rip-off. 4,500.

..or head back to camp for yet another helping of rice and beans.

You guys haven't even taken any temptations.

This might be a time just to get one off your shoulders.

It's like a bonding experience, as well,

which you have to we have to consider.

Because we don't know how long

we're going to stay in that camp together.

Hugo?

Gonna say, "No."

Sam? Nope.

No. Would you guys say that you've

thought this through well enough, or...?

Yeah, no, we have. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I've never said to anyone,

"Do not take any temptations." All I've said is,

"Take what you need, not what you really want."

I'm just going to say, "No."

I feel, like, inspired, actually, while we have the conversation.

I'm not going to take any temptations.

There you go, I cannot always take temptations.

So, it pains me to say, we've clearly agreed not

to take this amazing Chinese buffet,

which is a great temptation, definitely up my street.

And if there were different people,

I'd have been dining extremely well tonight.

Well done.

My mouth was just drooling, but there was just no way

I was spending £4,500 on

an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, spending everyone's money.

I think that she's OK with me. And I worry,

if I'm going to take another temptation in the future,

in a couple of days,

she will, you know, burst at me again.

Yeah, we're going to have to wait and see.

I think it's a shame, really. I knew this was,

like, the B-team. The majority are just Brady Bunch...

..non-temptation-taking people.

Tomasz surprised me, which is good.

So, going forward, I will literally just play the game with him.

Sam's managed to put a stop to Tomasz's spending...

..for the moment at least.

Now, it's up to Nathaniel's group to follow suit

and leave the prize money untouched.

The Sizzling Wok. I think I just peed myself.

Oh, my God.

And you can sit inside, at normal tables.

"Welcome to The Sizzling Wok." Wok.

"Once three or more members of your group agree

"to take the temptation, the whole group is welcome to eat."

What's the price?

4.5 grand!

Imagine, £900 a head for a Chinese. That sounds ridiculous.

This is... This is actually insane.

Oh, chicken chow. Oh, my God, guys. Smell it.

Oh, my. Fuck me. Oh, my God.

Chicken satay. SHE SCREAMS

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I've missed sweet-and-sour chicken balls.

It does very repetitive, having rice and beans.

This is mad.

I have wanted to go without taking temptations...

..but it has been really testing in regards to the hunger, the fatigue.

I think my willpower might be going downhill slightly.

There's drinks over there, as well. Right. You're tempted, aren't you?

It's no secret that I'm very impulsive.

I just need someone to bring me back down to earth,

and it's normally Hugo, but where is he?

Oh, my God. What's that? Beef in black bean sauce?

And a fortune cookie. Sorry.

I'm going straight in for one of these spring rolls, man, sorry.

Are you just going for it? Are you...? He's not even.

No!

Look at that, look.

HE LAUGHS I've sealed...

100% buffet. I've sealed the deal.

We're taking it. We're taking it. SHE SCREAMS

It's all-you-can-eat, as well, so you ain't gotta stress.

Honestly, it didn't even take Thom five seconds

to decide that we were taking that temptation.

He was straight in with that Chinese.

No... No, thought. He was in.

Do you know how long I've waited for food, yeah?

And all of a sudden, I can't wait another,

like, ten seconds. Look at this.

Get some of that down you.

Oh, this is good. Here's to protein, as well.

To me, everybody.

Thom is quite impulsive and my team are weak-willed.

So, whilst was great for me, because I got to eat...

..this was the perfect opportunity to disguise it.

To be honest, I am a little bit surprised Nathaniel gave in to it.

He'd made it very apparent that he's very strong,

he's very determined to get to the finish line.

He was all guns blazing.

Oh, my God. SHE LAUGHS

I'm just so... This is ridiculous.

Do you think they would have taken it, the other team? No.

I wonder if they have? Right now, fuck them...

What do you guys think the other group will be doing right now?

They could be balls-deep in their temptation right now.

If all of them were balls-deep in the temptation, I'd be disappointed.

Nat and Thom are quite strong. They are.

They haven't taken anything so far.

I just think if Nathaniel would take it,

I'd be surprised, because of all this,

you know, anger when I took my temptations before.

It's a very difficult decision. I think...

I think they'll be quite mindful about the price.

They'll be mindful about the price? Think so.

It's one of the most expensive temptations we've faced.

If they do take it, I'd like to think they'd be honest.

They won't lie. No, they won't lie.

I know we're all honest people,

but some members of the other group are going to be

a bit disappointed that we took the Chinese.

I've got to thinking, should we even tell them?

If we didn't, yeah, tell the others,

do you think it would, kind of,

limit the amount that's spent, hypothetically?

I've got a lot of time for Sam,

but I just think her knowing that we did might tip her over the edge,

and she did say about that mad spending spree.

She might go on a mad one now, just to spite everyone.

If you're not going to tell them,

you'll have to count me at the back, cos I can't lie.

The only reason you hide it is if you're guilty and we ain't guilty.

This is too much talking, and not enough eating.

Yeah, yeah, I agree. Mm, go and get another round. Mmm.

I would love to keep the Chinese buffet a secret from

the other camp, because this would keep

a united front of strength against temptation.

But you know, Trish is a bit of a weak link,

she can't hold her tongue.

I guess I can only really trust David with secrecy.

It's really interesting with Nathaniel,

because when a temptation comes up that he has interest in,

it's a no-brainer. But I could actually see,

there was regret all over his face.

It's almost like he knows that certain people are

going to lose respect for him.

Just close your eyes and imagine it's sweet-and-sour chicken.

Oh, my God. I should have worn a looser outfit.

I've got to go and burp, sorry. SHE LAUGHS

We just saved £4,500 there. That feels good, doesn't it?

Yeah. It was just extortionate, wasn't it, for what it was?

"Share your happiness with others today."

SHE LAUGHS

If the other group spend recklessly whilst we're separated,

I will feel very upset and aggrieved by that.

"Get some more chicken balls." HE LAUGHS

I'm holding down the fort on my end,

as are the other boys.

So, we deserve a little bit of respect back.

Woah.

I feel drunk, man. No, me too. I'm literally waddling.

I'm absolutely buggered.

Sam...is gonna be fuming.

Next time on Tempting Fortune...

Oh, The Retreat.

I can't even breathe. "Write your price."

Urgh. We've got a bidding war.

When no-one's looking, he will go crazy.

I think there's enough for people to take a treat,

and there's enough for people to take something.

Yeah, well, I'm feeling like a fucking treat.

This has my name written all over it.

Oh, fuck me. We've spent zero.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter about the number.

Of course it's about the number. I wasn't expecting 10k.

You are so full of shit

and I'm telling you that straight to your face.
