Right, I will get back to the piano.

It's so good to be here.

Scusi, scusi, Shanay, scusi, Amanda.

(SPEAKS INDISTINCTLY) (LAUGHS)

Okay, welcome to the bar.

I say that because the next song we're gonna do is called The Bar.

The bar is a very, very long song.

We're only going to do a tiny bit now

but a very long song that I wrote during the COVID lockdown period.

And I suppose it was about me missing being able to go out.

And you could go to somewhere, like a bar, where you can get a drink,

you can talk to your friends, or, even, you can talk to strangers.

You can exchange ideas in a bar with people.

This baby grand is the bar.

But just for tonight, here in Prague,

everybody in this arena is in the bar with us.

All right. Can we get used to the idea?

(CROWD CHEERING)

So we can talk to one another.

In the first verse of the bar, there are two characters.

They're both women, and they're both in our narrative.

One is an old Black lady who is homeless,

and she's living on the streets of New York City in the rain,

and in a pile of cardboard with her dog,

who is a Chihuahua called Lady.

And another woman, she is a Native American lady.

She's much younger than the Black woman.

She's a Lakota-Sioux from Standing Rock in North Dakota.

She comes across this woman.

She stops, talks to her, comforts her,

gathers her up and brings her here to the bar

so that we can all help to look after her.

Okay, that's the story of this song.

Thank you!

Thank you!

(CROWD CHEERING)

Wow.

It's been such an enormous pleasure being in the bar,

with all of you, here this evening.

I can't tell you how much we've enjoyed that, me and the band.

And while we're doing this, while we're in the mood,

can we have a huge one of these

for my circus family, my crew who come in,

and they build this thing every time we do a gig.

They are remarkable. Thank you, guys.

And while we're about it, there's a lot of local people

helping us in here tonight, so I want to thank them as well.

Thank you very much.

All of you.

We are going to do a couple of more songs.

We're going to do a song of the very last album,

that I made with Pink Floyd, which was back in, I think, '83,

and the album was called The Final Cut.

Well, thank you.

And the song we're going to do off it

is called Two Suns in the Sunset.

It's not a very happy song, but it's very appropriate,

and emphasize, for us all at the moment,

because we are in greater danger

than any group of people have ever been in the whole history

of this small, beautiful planet that we call home.

This is the most dangerous time, so we should pay attention.

So, if you're down at the pub one night,

and you've run into your president,

or prime minister, or whatever you've got here at the moment,

please, please, please, tap him or her

on the shoulder and say, "Oi, go down to the bar,

"with all the other heads of state and explain this to them.

"The people who live on this planet

"do not want you to keep an arsenal of nuclear weapons.

"We want to get rid of them all. So please go and do it."

Yeah. I mean, apart from anything else,

they're incredibly expensive, and we could use

that dosh for other things.

We could look after the old lady on the street in New York for a start.

Or maybe we could educate our children

or have a health service or blah or blah or blah.

All of those things are more valuable

than nuclear warheads, which have no value at all.

I'll stop shouting.

So, I'm gonna stamp my foot,

and I've got a good friend under the stage,

and he's gonna press a button.

And you will hear the doomsday clock starting to tick.

Because it's part of the sound effect for the rhythm of the song.

Thank you. Okay.

This is the moment that some of us have been waiting for.

We're back in the bar.

All right. This time we are all going to have a drink.

What would be really nice now would be if you all came up on stage

and stood around the piano.

But there is, sadly, not room.

So, what we're going to do instead,

is Amanda and Shanay,

and Jon, and Robert, and Dave,

and Joey, and Seamus, and Jonathan,

and Gus and I are going to raise our glasses to all of you,

and thank you for being such a great audience tonight.

Now I'm gonna cheers you.

All right, so, here you go...

Cheers!

Everybody!

(CROWD CHEERING)

Wow.

All right. Before we get to sing this other verse of The Bar,

I have to mention three names.

The first name is Bob Dylan.

Yeah!

And I'll tell you why.

Because back in 1966,

Bob Dylan made a great album called Blonde on Blonde.

It was a double album, it was a double vinyl album,

and Side 4 was a long, incredibly beautiful ballad,

called Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.

And I'm not ashamed to say

that it crept into my head when I was writing this verse.

And so I stole some of the lyrics.

Well, I didn't steal them exactly, but I used them.

So I've used the words "sad", "eyed", and "lady",

and "big", "brass", and "bed".

Any of you who know the song will know what I'm talking about.

So, Bob, thank you.

Anyone, if you run into Bob, could you say, "Roger says thank you"?

Okay? All right. That's Bob.

And "the sad-eyed lady" in this song is my wife, Kamilah.

She is the rock upon which I lean.

(CROWD CHEERS) Yeah. Well, thank you.

I think she's actually here tonight, so she'll hear you if you do that.

Thanks, babe.

Wherever you are.

She's not sad-eyed all the time.

But she is some of the time, because, like a lot of you,

maybe all of you, she has a lot of empathy for others.

She cares deeply about all her brothers and sisters,

all over the world, whatever their ethnicity

or religion or nationality.

And sometimes they're not always as well off as we all are.

All right, so she gets a bit sad.

So that's my sad-eyed lady who this song is to.

And then the third name is John.

John is my big brother. He's two years older than me.

When I say he is, he was two years older than me.

He died last year.

Suddenly. And I don't want to go into that.

Obviously, we miss him deeply,

but he's in this song,

and he's in this song from a time when he was really little.

Not as little as I was, because he was two years older,

and it makes a huge difference when you're really little.

So, this is for Bob Dylan,

my lovely wife, Kamilah,

and my brother John. All right, so here we go.
