So you starting down there and just, like, murdering it down

So you picked a great song to kind of flex a bit.

Where is this love for music come from for you?

Well, I've been singing since I was around nine years old.

I started at a pageant.

My mom wanted me to dance or play the piano

because I had never sung in my life before.

And I was like no, I put my foot down.

I was like, "I want to sing."

And she was like, "Girl, you've never sung before.

You can't sing." And I was like, "I'll show you."

Oh. Oh!

I like that.

Very assertive.

I won in the category talent

and I also placed queen in the pageant.

So... Listen.

Okay, so it sounds like you were, at 15,

you had to prove something to your mother.

You had some place to go, and you wanted to be a queen.

Well, at 15, that's what I was doing.

to the public here and there to get you to that finale moment.

Bloom was very much attached to my roots,

And alternate felt more city, more music influenced.

And when they came together, it just stuck like glue.

Being raised in Montana, walking outside and seeing birds, lakes,

going up to the mountains,

I think it's super inspired my writing.

Your career, you've done so much, so many things.

The wandering road.

After Alt Bloom had just started,

I really was on a search for who I was.

I bought a bus, built it out.

And wherever that journey took me is

where I was down to take the ride.

I started feeling like I was gripping on to something

that I hadn't in a long time.

which is actually going to serve you really well

And really it was amazing in the lower register.

And then when it got up there,

like, there were elements that got away from you a little bit,

which is why I didn't personally turn.

Gotcha. But you have an interesting voice,

between these two, because I get to get the popcorn out.

There's always a struggle when -- when people sing a song

and you know it and you hear it a certain way.

And what took me a second with that one

was I wanted to hear you do it different.

And you did, man. You made that song your own.

It had a lot of soul in it.

It had like a little bluesy feel to it.

You had a great voice.

I wouldn't know what genre to put that song in,

which was awesome about it, you know?

It just felt right. Thank you so much.

Queen: This was a no brainer for me.

I have no one on my team that sounds like you.

You sat in that lower register

and you just warmed it up for me and got it cooking

and I said "That feels right."

Then I came around, you started feeling the vibe.

all it did was show me you had more.

Absolutely. When I came in and did this,

I initially wanted to do a different style of arrangement

and I was like,

of taking something that's very country

and I'm just so excited to get out there

and just let them hear me sing.

Three or four years ago, I would not think I'd be here right now.

When I was just a couple days old,

my mom heard me breathing weird

and took me straight to the hospital.

The doctors told her 95% of my airway was closed.

I was diagnosed with hemangiomas.

I got a trach implanted.

I have had 13 surgeries on my throat, and then I had to learn

how to breathe out of my mouth and speak again.

I've been working on my voice for years now,

and being on "The Voice" is a dream come true.
