a drastic difference between skating and ballroom like how you sit in your hips

hips and the way you just crunch things oh you want the sharp arms and charger

my arms are the most challenging part for sure attack the chest oh so really

just arm remember wrong dancing

want to see a little bit more of that what i mean by that is not gliding across

the top of the floor but really digging in what does that mean putting pressure

on the floor the energy travels into the body activates the hips a feeling a

little bit more grounded but you have such a beautiful awareness of your body

the control just a little bit more finesse a little bit more technique there

think obviously this journey is all about growth and i love going into a week

with intention and purpose so everything that the judges said i can't wait to

which one she's really long limbed long arms long legs it's beautiful and it

can make beautiful lines but that also means that you have to control it follow your leg

okay okay yeah i don't even get on carnival rides i get so motion sick oh

my god that was fast so i've got to really work that out in my head because i

don't want to throw up on stage i also think i have trapped gas i feel like

people are going to be a little shocked at my work ethic one more time word

I'm naturally more of the leader of the group keeping us on track but then also

as well as brit who has been my mentor since i was 16 so i'm hoping that i can

follow in her footsteps nice okay that transition up was crazy but you get the

gips Yes getting to just watch their thought process is so inspiring for me i want

to be able to learn everything that i possibly can work and a twirl period the

troop definitely brings a lot of young energy to

the stage which helps make the performances look epic we get to perform in

celeb pro pieces and we're

even in the freestyles the troop is locked in this season we have been busting

our butts in the studio and i can't wait for everyone to see what we're made of i'm so excited

our troop this is the biggest dream

four years and you might know me from my family's reality show love thy nader you are seriously

shaving your armpits my pits are freezing you know my dance experience is

pretty much limited to the

one eight count i did on dancing with the stars with my sister so it is very

important for me to go further in this competition than brooks did you're

such a beautiful dancer because you were on the

troop for a while right yeah this is my first time as an actual pro and you're

like doing it with a girl this is crazy why did you want to dance with a girl i

grew up in louisiana and we were like deep south conservative and being a queer

person i never saw in tv queer representation and so it'll just show like this

is cool and it's okay and i'm really so honored that i can do it with you and

help you represent that it's gonna be epic so what song did we go with i picked

skater boy by avril lavigne oh okay it's so 2002 that song sounds like a great

jive oh you know i danced with my sister yes and

she got eliminated that week okay so i need to redeem myself i got you i know

this is like the jive vibe with the jive the judges are going to be looking for

chemistry between each other which i think we already have yeah and of course

they're going to be looking for technique down down down so precise footwork

really matters especially because of how quick it is don't want it to be heavy

like this i have to remember to be light on my feet because i tend to farmer

joe it and just like stomp don't want it stomping on the ground okay but i want

to look like 2002 a little barbie nice i'm ready to show the

world who sarah jane is cool there's a long way to go it was harder than i

thought dancing the jive with her partner hayley bills it's sarah

hot ridiculous you were out of sync

most of the dance unfortunately but what i do love is this sort of bestie

without boundaries kind of vibe that i really like i know i think it's really

good and you're sending a great message a lot of people feel seen right now

because of what you just did out there and that is not there was a lot of

great things about that there's some good moments in there i see the potential

for me it took way too long to get into the dance i wanted more content um the

jive needs to be stationary underneath yourself it was traveling down the room

you definitely were out of sync in there but again like i see i say there's

ezra the crowd erupted for you last night how

did that feel it was unbelievable the outpouring of love i swear it meant so

much to me and it's uh it's

it was time of my life oh yeah and listen daniela you have the cha -cha next

week so what unique challenges do you guys have well the

cha -cha is based with a lot of chasse so we're gonna only focus on our left

chasse take all the right chasse out and focus on the little hip movements we're gonna do

i'm sure it's going to be fantastic we know when you two get together it's

gonna be fantastic all right now closing out tonight's competition with a tango

to a number one hit from 1980 from the rookie it's jenna dewan and her partner

val smirkowski i started as a backup dancer for jan jackson when i was

18. i danced with ricky martin jesson timberlake i even did a movie called step

up that was when i started acting and now i am ecstatic to be back with my first love dance

hi my love oh my god i'm so grateful you're an icon in this space what a

treat and privilege it is for me

to be somewhat of a teacher it made me cry already oh my goodness val is very

emotional and and honestly you have no idea how much that means to me because

just getting to create and perform with him is a dream for me so what are you

nervous about there will be a high level of expectation and hopefully

excitement as to what we're gonna bring dance is the one part of myself that

was there for me prior to acting prior to being a mom and so coming back to

that right now is allowing myself to put myself

first i'm not gonna shy away from advantages that come with your experience in

dance let's do it okay so the tango we have a frame i'm gonna have movement

that is a challenge for a professional dancer

because i want to make this tango dynamic frame make this tango fly and i just

want to earn our right to be in this competition not just because of dance but

because of how far we're willing to push

ourselves are you okay this is very very muscular man right here val believes

in me and that's so amazing i hope i can meet his expectations but ballroom is

completely different from my own experience bringing us down this is a very

hard dance it feels hard it is hard with everything going into this dance watch

that shoulder i really hope to make people feel something to get out their

seats and be like that's it dancing the tango with her partner val tchmerkovsky it's

jenna dewan so

much energy and i think part of that actually for me made the shoulders go up a little bit it

felt a little frantic in places because for me you got the broad strokes now

i'm looking for the fine details okay because that's what we want from you all

right you're not a rookie all right i hate the pun but i gotta say but listen

you are so amazing i can't wait to see what you do next but let's work on those

shoulders a little bit yeah all right we're not passion drama love pain story

changing it was like watching a dark movie

you were so on it and in it you were on fire this is yeah

are there some elements to refine and it come from your hip -hop habit extend

the back lower shoulder but i cannot fold by any mean your performance and

dealing with him as well i'm telling you you get an extra point

we love you val carry in okay that was a fantastic way to end this night but

you're looking at me you guys are like we know what's coming okay step up is

great but do not lift off okay i'm gonna i want to pull you guys back all of

you up those lifts okay please keep your feet on the ground i want it's it's a

hard one to call i know it can feel gray but keep the feet on the ground

because you don't need a lift to be amazing and you are a fantastic dancer but

prior dance experience but there's a lot of unlearning going on there's

different weight shifts and different shapes to hit and so i truly feel like a

beginner i'm learning this and i have so much respect for this art form

ballroom is amazing i have the greatest partner in the world well speaking of

val what um what was it like when you found out he was your partner oh i that

was like a bucket list for me i was thrilled i even

i think i cried i saw my story i was like this is gonna be the greatest ride of

life and i was like which pinky toe am i gonna have to fight for this well let's get your scores

his life he's reimagined one of his tour performances just for us here's how he

created the rose okay six seven go down today we're in the

ballroom before premiere night so you could feel the energy in the room and

we're working on adapting a piece i did on tour called the rose and turning it

into a dancing with stars performance you guys know of assandra status of

course let's get in here one of the reasons why i'm calling this piece the rose

is because i really feel like it represents hayley she is this beautiful woman

and dancer like the petals of a rose but

she's also gone through some challenges like the thorns let's do it baby let's

go bringing this piece from that tour to dancing with the stars is incredibly

special because that tour has meant so much to hayley

and i each time we went out on the road was after a monumental life moment

first time we were married

newlyweds and then the second time it was after her injury and then this final

time the encore performance of the show was us

as parents say hi all right we have a backup dancer just in case

for me the part that i wanted to preserve is the intro of the dress that dress

was the beginning of the creative of this entire piece a little earlier on that

my wardrobe department on tour for our last show made my daughter peverly a

matching red dress look at the matching outfits

i've been performing in this room on dancing with the stars for 20 years now

i'm married now i have a daughter i gotta bring a piece of my home on tour with

me now i gotta bring the tour back home to dancing with the stars results
