Heat. Heat. [groaning]
I see the fear in your eyes. I feel it,
too.
Beyond that wall waits a beast that
would see our kind wiped [music] from
the earth. every man, every name
forgotten. But we are the last fire in a
darkening world. So let it come. Let
them break upon us like the sea upon
stone. And if we fall, we fall as men,
never as prey.
So it comes to this, the night we were
warned of and hoped would never find us.
10,000 shadows wait in the dark beneath
those trees. And but a thousand souls
stand this wall. They will name it
hopeless. And perhaps in the cold
reckoning of numbers, they speak true.
But a thousand men who will not yield,
who will not break their line, though
the dark comes howling. That too is a
number worth the counting. Let them
come. We hold till dawn or till the last
of us falls.
The [music] path to the north still lies
open. Varic, take it. Live to fight
another day. Their numbers are beyond
counting. I have never run before
by the realm. But one more day, and that
is enough.
They come 10 to our one. Let them come.
Be swift. Be sharp. Waste no blow.
Tonight we do not count them. Tonight we
make them count us.
They are coming.
May the gods watch over us all.
>> To the north tower now and prepare.
Orcs don't fear death,
so we make them regret it.
>> Load them heavy lads. Let the first ones
through taste our welcome. I should we
live [music] to see the sun, I'll buy
the wine myself.
Drink slow, brother. Maybe a long while
pouring.
>> [music]
[music]
>> The enemy comes with the dawn. 10,000
strong, perhaps more. We are a fraction
of that number. Scatter our strength and
we die scattered.
So hear me now and let every man know
his charge before the horns smound. I
will hold the ground and the main gate
myself. That is where they throw their
heaviest, their beasts, their ram, their
finest killers. If the gate breaks, all
breaks. So it will not break. Not while
I draw breath before it. Then give me
the wall above. My archers will crown
the battlements and re death on any who
reach the stone. No ladder will hold
while my men stand. From the height we
bleed them, Varic, long before they ever
touch your gate. And I will be
everywhere you are not. Where the wall
cracks, I will fill it. Where a line
falters, I bring the reserve. Give me
the fastest men and let me roam. I will
patch every breach before the enemy even
learns it is open. Here, the eastern
span. The stone is old, the mort
failing. Then that is where they strike
first. I'll set my reserve behind it.
hidden. Good. Let them think it weak and
let it be their grave.
Mark me. If the gate should fall, do not
rush to save it. Seal the inner yard and
let them choke in the killing ground.
Better to lose the gate and hold the
keep than lose all trying to hold the
gate. Promise me this. I have seen walls
like this one fall. Varic.
Stone means nothing if the men behind it
break. So we do not tell them the
numbers. We tell them the north is
watching and that the dawn belongs to
those who live to see it. There are so
many fires. Then we give them so much to
burn.
Hold the ground. Hold the wall. Hold
each other. Tonight the three of us are
all that stands between them and
everything behind us. Let us be enough.
Bran,
look at me.
>> Yes, Dave.
>> Are those hands any use to you shaking
like that?
>> No.
>> Then give them something to hold. Stone.
Hold the stone. [music] Feel how cold it
is. That is all you have to do tonight.
Hold on to something that isn't going
anywhere. When the [music] horn goes, I
will tell you where to stand, and you
will stand there. And you will not have
to be brave. You will only have to be
next to me.
>> Yes, straight.
>> You're breathing like a man already
running. That's how it takes you, not
the sword. The breath goes first, then
the hands, [music] then the legs. So, we
take it back. Slow
in through the nose. Hold it through
[music] the mouth.
Longer out than in.
Good. [music] Now stand up slow and keep
it.
A thousand years. As the hatred [music]
slept beneath the roots of the world,
and this morning it opened its eyes.
Man and Orc will spill each other into
the earth again, as they did before
there were songs [music] to remember it.
The long dark is coming, [music]
and I am too old, and there are too few
of us left to turn it aside.
So I must go to them all, to the halls
of men [music] and the deep places of
the dwarves and the last woods where the
elves still ling. And I must ask them
[music] to stand together who have not
stood together in a thousand years.
[music]
They will not want to.
But the dark does not care. [music]
But the old bonds are ash.
Men swore,
and men broke it. They [music] sold
their friends for a season's peace.
The dwarves have shut their gates and
will not [music] open them, not for
pity, not for the world's ending. And
the elves have gone behind their doors
and put out the [music] lights and will
not come out of them.
So it falls to me and [music] I ride
alone. And yet I must go and ask and be
refused and [music] ask again.
For divided we are only a slower kind of
dying.
They are not what they were.
Something [music] has been at work in
the dark places patient and unhairy and
it has made them stronger. [music]
I can feel it in the ground.
has been waiting for us to forget.
>> Brothers, look upon us. Look upon what
we have become. For a thousand winters,
they penned us in the cold and the dark
and named us beasts. Tonight, tonight
the beasts have come to their gate. They
think their wall will save them. Stone
and torch light and frighten little men.
But stone does not bleed, brothers, and
stone does not remember. We remember
every chain, every lash, every one of
ours they buried in the snow.
Brothers of the Fang, the walls of the
weak tremble before us.
RAISE YOUR FIRES. RAISE YOUR STEEL.
Let them hear us in their keep and know
the cold truth that no wall was ever
built high enough to keep the dark
outside forever. You are not soldiers.
You are the storm they told their
children of. You are the night they
feared would come. And it has come. So
do not march to that wall, my brothers.
Become the thing that swallows it whole.
One wall, one night, one last cold
breath between us and everything they
love. When it falls, and it will fall,
leave nothing standing that once looked
down upon us. For the ones they chained,
for the ones they burned, for every
winter we endured in silence. Tonight we
take back the dawn. [screaming]
RISE AND FOLLOW YOUR KING INTO THEIR
NIGHTMARE. BROTHERS OF THE BLADE, sons
of the abyss, tonight we carve our names
into their bones. Their walls will
crumble. Their blood will water our
fields. Tonight we feast on their fear.
[music]
>> [music]
>> Mother, father, forgive me. Forgive the
boy who never came home. If the gods are
listening, let me be brave enough.
Just this once, let me [music] not run.
Look at me, every one of you. When the
horn sound, you do not look to the gate.
You do not look to the sky. You look to
me. Where I go, you go. When I hold, you
hold. If I fall, [music] step over me
and you keep the line. Follow me. No
matter what comes through that dark. And
I swear to you, some of us see the dawn.
Now stand.
>> Listen to me, Vic, [music] for I will
say this once. If the battle turns, if
the wall is lost and the gate [music]
gives way, you do not die here. You go
to the southern wall and you slip out
before the whole of it comes down. The
kingdom does [music] not need a hero
buried in the rubble. It needs its
commander alive. Every soul behind these
stones, every child in the Vangana and
me. If your fall for the north where you
so swear it. When [music] all is lost,
you live. You carry us out. That is your
last order for
>> You always did give the hardest orders,
old friend.
READY YOURSELVES. THE ENEMY IS UPON US.
HOLD THE LINE.
[screaming]
>> READY YOURSELVES. THE ENEMY IS UPON US.
Hold the line.

>> [music]
[music]
>> We can still go through the pass
Tonight, raise an army and fight another
day. Staying here is not courage. It is
death. This is suicide. Varic.
Brother,
my king, you must leave. Now, there are
too many. The wall will not hold. The
kingdom needs you alive, not buried
here. I beg you, go while there is still
a road left to take.
>> I will not abandon these men, Orin. They
bleed for me tonight, then I bleed
beside them. A king who runs is no king
at all. We stay. We fight. And if death
is our fate, then we meet its standing.
But my king, no, brother. [music]
A coward's crown is no throne of mine.
May the gods guide our blades. [music]
[music]
>> [music]
>> We need to move. They're coming. I can
feel it in the ground. [music]
>> Then I'll stand where I've always stood,
my king. At your side, till the end.
>> [music]
>> The wall will not hold. Stone is only
stone and it has been asked to do too
much for too long.
I [music] must raise what home I can and
take it north before the Thor.
The one man [music]
sits in chains
[music] and the crown that put him there
sits on Corin's head
and there is nothing in that man that I
would call a king.
The realm is broken in the [music] hand
like bread.
My brothers took ship across the black
water and did not look back. [music]
And I do not think they are coming. The
elves have grown quiet. Whatever ran in
them [music] is running out, and they
know it, and they will not say so aloud.
And so it comes [music] to this. One
man, one name. Somebody has to be
enough. And I do not yet know who.
Let the dwarves be reasonable. Let them
look up from their gold for one hour and
see the smoke on their own doorstep.
Whatever they think of [music] men and
they think little enough, the fire does
not stop at their gate because [music]
the stone is thick. It is coming for
them too. They may hate us and still
march with us.
[music]
I have known stranger alliance.

king,
keep digging, broken.
There was a rider at the overgate four
days back. [music]
A man sent from the human court with a
letter and I turned him [music] back
