News of the recent revolution in Haiti spread quickly.

So on January 8, 1811, Charles Deslondes

a slave of the nearby Deslondes Plantation,

led a revolt that spread through the parish.

On January 9, 1811, the revolt was extinguished.

Will you be staying at any of the other plantations?

along the 20 mile swamp trek.
