- Tonight on "The Proof Is Out There."

Did a Massachusetts woman capture a UFO

crashing to Earth?

- This doesn't look like anything

that we're used to seeing in the sky.

- [Tony] Could this mysterious mummified foot

belong to something not of this world?

- This foot is just one of several mummified remains

that may or may not be from another planet.

- [Tony] Did a fisherman come face to face

with a real-life sea monster?

- The internet has been quite unsettled

by this creepy video.

- [Tony] And, is this classic UFO footage

proof of an intergalactic portal?

- As a scientist, I'm not so skeptical

that I refuse to listen to a crazy idea.

- [Tony] Around the globe are videos...

- [Witness] Oh, there he goes.

- [Tony] Photos,

and sounds that defy explanation.

[electrical whirring]

- [Expert] We don't know where they come from,

who made them, or how they operate.

- [Tony] What are they?

- [Expert] Some sort of bizarre mutation.

- [Expert] What's exciting is nobody really knows.

- Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.

- I'm Tony Harris,

and as a journalist for more than 30 years,

I follow the facts where they take me.

Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation

to the world's strangest sounds and images.

- [Witness] It's coming towards us.

- [Tony] We'll analyze each one with top experts.

- It's a credible case. It's a credible video.

- [Tony] And pass a verdict on what it is.

- This video was clearly faked.

- The proof starts now.

[dramatic music]

Good evening and welcome to "The Proof Is Out There."

In 1639, Massachusetts governor John Winthrop

made what might be the first UFO report in American history.

He described a light in the sky moving as swift as an arrow.

Well, almost 400 years later,

there's been another sighting in Massachusetts,

this one on video.

It's June 25th, 2025, in the town of Pembroke, Massachusetts.

- A woman is sitting outside of her home near the hot tub

when she notices a big object in the sky.

- And she was really concerned about what it possibly was.

- Her heart was pounding,

and she reacted quickly to grab her camera

and get visual evidence of what she was witnessing.

In this video, what we're seeing

is what looks like a descent of a cylindrical object

that seems to be falling from the sky

before it disappears behind a woman's house.

- [Tony] Let's look closer.

See how the object glows

with flickering oranges and yellows?

- It seems to be illuminated

almost with a fire coming from it,

which could denote something

that was about to crash to the Earth.

- [Tony] The eyewitness shares her video with the local news

and it quickly goes nationwide.

Even officials look into it, but answers remain scarce.

- [Amy] Neither the FAA nor the Pembroke Fire Department

could find any debris,

which just added to the mystery

of what this thing could possibly be.

- People began asking,

"Could this be some kind of a strange military experiment?"

- [Tony] Another theory emerges.

Is it a crashing UFO?

- When it comes to crashing UFOs,

one of the most famous incidents

is the 1947 Roswell incident.

This was originally thought to be

some kind of downed flying saucer,

but it was eventually determined to be a weather balloon.

This doesn't look like a plane

or anything that we're used to seeing in the sky,

so someone seeing this from their backyard,

it could absolutely look like a UFO that's on fire.

- In the case of Roswell, the military initially reported

it had recovered a flying disc.

It quickly took that back

and declared the crashed object a weather balloon.

Decades later, the story changed again.

Now it was a balloon

used to monitor Soviet nuclear development.

So no surprise that some still believe

the government was covering up something alien,

but what is this object?

We begin with the most basic question:

is the object even falling?

- Certainly from the perspective of the video,

it gives the impression

that the object is descending down towards the ground,

but that also could just be an optical illusion

based on where the person filming it is

relative to the object in the sky.

And in fact, the object very well

could be traveling away from the observer.

- [Tony] If it's not falling,

there might be a reason it looks like it is.

- Here you see it's about that long, okay?

As it gets further away from you,

one of the things you'll notice is that it's now shorter.

That's because it's being de-projected.

- [Tony] Projection refers to the way 3D objects

appear on a 2D plane to simulate depth.

Because of that, we can perceive this object's path

based on its diminishing length

or de-projection in the video.

- So it's going away from us in this view,

and you can tell by the shape of the object.

- [Tony] Maybe it's not careening downward,

but it does look to be on fire.

So is this a UFO in some kind of distress?

- If those were flames, you'd see smoke, a smoke trail.

We don't see any such thing.

So this does not appear to be a crashing UFO to me.

It looks like a different type of object altogether.

- You can see that the three lights

that appear at the top of whatever this object is

and a light below it.

Kind of faintly, you can tell that those lights

are blinking intermittently,

and that gives off anti-collision aircraft vibes.

Going with that, as you look closer,

suddenly the three lights at the top

are actually not lights on top.

They're lights on the tail end of the helicopter,

and the light in the front would be its leading light.

- Our verdict: a helicopter.

We think the witness may not have heard its rotors

over the sound of her hot tub jets.

As for John Winthrop's UFO,

skeptics today say it was swamp gas,

while UFO believers say it moved way too fast

for that explanation.

Now we move from north to south

and to another kind of claim about aliens.

You've heard about the curse of the mummy's tomb,

but what about the mummy's foot?

In South America, an unusually preserved appendage

is kicking up a controversy.

It's April 2024 in Victoria, Argentina,

northwest of Buenos Aires.

Police have raided the Museo del Ovni, a popular UFO museum.

They confiscated more than 60 artifacts, including this one.

It looks like an ancient bone and it's labeled mummy's foot.

It's approximately the size of a human foot,

brownish in color with odd proportions and anatomy.

- The museum owner's sister apparently found this artifact

while vacationing in Peru,

and because the museum is in Argentina,

Peru actually says, "Wait a minute, those are ours,"

and it became like an international incident.

- [Tony] According to the mystery,

these remains may be connected

to mummies supposedly found near Peru's Nazca lines.

Some think these ancient geoglyphs

acted as a beacon or landing site for UFOs.

- One of the commonalities

with many of these Peruvian mummies

is that they are tridactyl.

In other words, they have three fingers or three toes.

This foot is just one of several mummified remains

that may or may not be from another planet.

Just a few weeks before this artifact hit the news,

authorities actually interrupted a press conference

to confiscate other potential mummies

of extraterrestrial origin.

- [Tony] Or maybe the bones come from an extinct hominid.

Previously, we investigated this supposed gigantic finger

said to be from Egypt.

People believed it came from a race of giants

that were written about in antiquity.

That turned out to be a hoax, but what about this foot?

Is it actually human?

- When you look at documented cases,

such as Japan's Buddhist monks who practice sokushinbutsu,

that mummification can dramatically shrink

and distort the human body.

Hands and feet are often the most affected,

with fingers and toes appearing fused, shortened,

or missing altogether.

What looks like non-human at first glance

can in fact be the result of extreme dehydration over time.

- In the practice of sokushinbutsu,

monks start to self-mummify while they're still alive.

They eat extremely limited diet, drink toxic tea,

and meditate in small chambers until their body dies

and becomes preserved.

Could a similar process

have created these preserved remains in Peru?

- In the process of Japanese mummification,

the goal was to preserve the whole body, not just one foot.

So even if this broke off a larger body,

we would still see the wrapping

and the clothing that it was buried in.

- [Tony] So how about the extinct hominid theory?

Even though that giant's finger ended up being a hoax,

could this foot be the real thing?

- It looks superficially like a foot,

but a foot needs to be really flexible

to be able to bend and move.

And if you look especially at the joint,

your ankle is actually made up of a bunch of smaller bones,

but here it looks like it's just a big chunk of bone.

- [Tony] But before we say

the foot's from an extraterrestrial,

there are a few other things to consider.

- We have no peer-reviewed studies

looking at radiocarbon dating or DNA analysis,

so we can't really take

these extraterrestrial claims seriously.

And a lot of these Nazca mummies

have turned out to be forgeries,

with people manipulating human

and animal bones to be in weird shapes.

- [Tony] And there's another clue

that something's not right.

- [Lisa] The texture and the color

does not look like bony material,

which generally has a white or off-white color.

This specimen is more of a brown.

This piece down here looks like it has a glossy,

plasticky texture, like somebody was trying

to glue things together.

So I think this is definitely a hoax.

- [Tony] And the authorities seem to agree.

- [Stephanie] This specimen is now in the custody

of the Argentinian authorities.

of the Argentinian authorities.

These are real archeological remains that have value,

and it's a shame that they have been

manipulated in this way.

- Our verdict: this is a hoax.

It's likely this was a real human whose body was desecrated

to make a fictitious piece.

The artifact is still part of an ongoing investigation

and it may soon end up in a more respectable museum.

- Tales of scary sea monsters

go back at least to ancient Greece,

but this next story suggests these creatures might be real

and living among us today.

It's October 2025.

A mysterious video is posted online.

The footage appears to be shot from a small boat

floating near a foggy coastline

reminiscent of the North Sea.

Suddenly...

- [Ken] This thing just rises out of the water

and it's a very startling-looking thing.

and it's a very startling-looking thing.

It has kind of some barnacles or something on its skin.

- [Tony] The camera plunges into the water

as the creature opens its mouth

and reveals teeth that look like daggers.

- The internet has been unsettled by this creepy video,

and there's actually a mythical serpent

that fits the bill perfectly.

Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent of Norse mythology

that actually encircles the globe,

eternally grasping its tail in its mouth.

- [Tony] And this isn't the only account of sea creatures

terrorizing Northern Europe over the centuries.

- The Swedish naturalist Olaus Magnus, in the year 1555,

actually wrote about a Scandinavian sea monster

known as the Sea Orm

that supposedly lived off the coast of Norway

that would grab sailors off the decks of their ships.

- [Tony] Does this new video prove

our fear of these creatures is justified?

Let's ask our experts.

It may look like a monster,

but there are other possibilities.

Moray eels, for instance.

The slender giant moray can reach up to 13 feet,

but look again at those chompers.

- The body looks more serpenty, a little more rough,

thick-skinned, almost more like a moray eel,

but the problem is the moray eel's teeth,

they're not necessarily as conical

and thick as what we're seeing here.

- [Tony] What about some other toothy sea creature,

like a goliath tigerfish?

That's an interesting candidate,

but if the anatomy is a better match, the geography is not.

- The goliath tigerfish is

endemic to the Congo River Basin,

and the scene that we see here

is very indicative of a polar environment.

You can see there are mountains in the background

with some cold mist,

and the witnesses in this video are wearing heavy gloves,

which means it's cold.

- [Tony] Then could it be a serpent

like the legendary Jormungandr or the Sea Orm?

Well, its behavior gives us pause.

- Typically, when we have a marine creature surface,

it serves a purpose,

like breathing or clearing their blow hole,

whereas this animal almost seems

to, like, be peeking its head out of the water

and almost like gasping for breath,

which doesn't seem to be serving

any sort of purpose for the animal.

- [Tony] Those red flags got us asking,

is this footage even legit?

- Through a frame-by-frame analysis,

I was this close to saying that this was real,

but because the current models that generate AI content

are largely limited to shorter segments,

and through additional examination

and additional context,

we learned that this was ultimately generative AI.

- [Tony] We tracked down the creator.

His name is Arseniy,

and he said he wasn't trying to fool anyone,

just entertain.

- [Arseniy] I've been creating AI content

for a couple of years now,

and I'm mainly focused on videos like this,

and I'm a big fan of science fiction,

folklore creatures, cryptids.

To the people that watched my video,

I hope it provided a little bit of spark

and imagination to what could be.

- Our verdict: this is a fake AI video.

Impressive? Oh, yes.

Impossible to spot? Oh, no.

AI may one day make videos that completely fool us,

but that day is not today.

Some UFO videos fade away,

but this one sparked a debate that continues to this day.

One analysis firm said it showed

a large solid object high in the atmosphere,

but what was it?

Be advised, this story contains images

of a mutilated animal.

It's August 27th, 1995, in the town of Salida, Colorado.

Tim Edwards is with his father, young daughter,

and contractors working on his house.

- He was outside talking to his two roofers,

and it was his daughter, Brandy,

who first sighted this object

and said, "Dad, Dad, there's something up in the sky."

And he looked up,

and that's when he saw this shimmering white tube of light.

- It's whitish in color, maybe silver.

It's kind of shiny and glowing a little bit.

- [Tony] Tim and his father observe

the object's strange midair maneuvers.

- [Tony] Brandy also points out one bizarre feature.

- You can see something that looks like what he describes

as a couple of rows of windows

rotating around in this wheel.

- [Tony] And look at that moment at the end of the video.

The craft's true shape seems to come into focus,

flat and oblong, like a cigar.

Cigar UFO sightings took off during the UFO craze

of the 1940s and '50s,

and then in 1967,

a Colorado man reported his own encounter with a cigar UFO.

He claimed he drove toward it,

only to have his car tires inexplicably deflate.

So by the time of Tim's video,

cigar-shaped UFOs had already earned a reputation

as a bonafide classic.

- [MJ] The video makes headlines around the world

as being one of the more compelling

UFO videos of the day.

Tim became convinced that the object in question

was piloted by extraterrestrials.

- There was a theory that maybe this thing

was from some other galaxy,

and it had locked on to coordinates in Colorado,

and it was using this as some type of energy portal

to go to and from this planet

to other deep places in the galaxy.

- [Tony] Plus, an alien portal could explain

other strange phenomena in the area,

like the 1967 mutilation of a horse named Snippy.

- Snippy had vanished off of her ranch for about two days,

and when she's found,

her head and neck are sort of completely mutilated.

There were these strange burn marks all over,

and for a lot of people,

this seemed indicative of some sort of alien encounter.

- I'm seeing a faint, long, white object.

It's cigar-shaped, I would describe, or cylindrical.

There appear to be signs of glints on it,

maybe windows or lights,

but I don't see any airplane parts such as wings.

However, that could be due to the angle.

- [Tony] Next, we stabilized the image,

and we found that one part of the footage

contains a major tip-off that this is no plane.

- There is a roof line,

and you could actually see that the object was up in the air

and pretty much stationary

in reference to the actual roof line of this building

that they were standing outside of.

- If this was an airplane, even a distant one,

some sort of motion should have been observable

as the plane moved off to wherever it was going.

- [Tony] Could it instead be something

a plane might leave in its wake?

- [Matthew] Looks like it could just be contrail,

but I doubt that

because I would've expected to see a pair of contrails,

since you have two wings with engines on each

on a typical airplane.

- This is not a contrail.

You have breaks in contrails.

A contrail could go along

and then suddenly you might have a break

because the air is different, the temperature's different.

Bottom line on this one is it remained relatively consistent

for a good period of time.

- [Tony] If it's not a contrail,

could it just be some kind of cloud?

- I did look up the temperature and stuff like that,

and it was largely a blue sky everywhere,

so it'd be extremely unusual

that you have one little tiny narrow cloud.

- [Tony] Then could this perfect, cylindrical shape

really be a cigar UFO?

- [Rich] This is definitely a situation

where you've got a elongated, cylindrical something or other

that is up in the air

and it just doesn't make sense

that it's anything conventional.

- What is anomalous is actually the slow motion,

the lack of motion

that makes me put this into the UFO category.

- Our verdict: genuine UFO.

It's no wonder this sighting changed Tim's life.

He became a vocal UFO believer

and a beloved member of the UFO community

before he passed away in 2008.

- Certain places seem to be beacons for UFOs.

Among them is Catalina Island in California,

where sightings go back almost 80 years,

and what you're about to see

could be the most famous of them all.

It's April 15th, 1966 on Catalina Island.

Professional cameraman Lee Hanson is taking advantage

of the perfect weather and visibility

to film the stunning landscape.

- [MJ] There's this sort of mountain range

and this object in the distance kind of hovering by.

We can see its disc-style shape.

There doesn't seem to be any indication of contrail

or spinning rotor blades

or anything that a traditional aircraft would have.

- [Tony] Catalina Island's brushes with UFOs

began years before this sighting.

- Catalina Island really enters the UFO discourse in 1947.

It's kind of strange,

on the exact same day as the purported crash at Roswell,

three Army veterans are visiting Catalina Island

when all of a sudden they look up at the sky

and see six strange, disc-like shapes

ripping through the air.

- [Tony] The flying discs were captured in this photo,

and since then,

the area off the coast of Southern California

has become perhaps the world's

biggest hotspot for encounters

between American naval vessels and UAPs,

including the famous Nimitz Tic-Tac.

And on Catalina in 2021, one of our own experts

says he had an extraordinary experience.

- [MJ] Matthew Szydagis,

who is a well-known UFO researcher,

went out with his team and they essentially set up cameras

and various other sensors

to try and see if they could pick something up.

And one night, their camera was able to pick up

this sort of light that appeared in the sky

and sort of opened.

- [Tony] In an otherwise black sky,

this cluster of light

looks like an unnatural series of pinpricks

in the fabric of space.

- [MJ] To many people who saw that video,

they believed that they were witnessing

the opening of some sort of tear in space-time,

a wormhole, something like that.

- As a scientist, I'm not so skeptical

that I refuse to listen to a crazy idea

just because there's no evidence for it yet.

- [Tony] Could this old footage have captured evidence

of this same Catalina gateway

all the way back in the 1960s?

- In the 1960s, you know,

not everyone carried a camera in their pocket,

so in order to have a camera

suddenly capture something like this,

it was truly remarkable for its day.

- [Tony] First, we ask our experts if this object

is moving like a classic UAP, such as the Nimitz Tic-Tac.

- We don't see anything like that here in this footage,

nor do we see extreme maneuverability.

This object is traveling in a linear fashion.

It doesn't look like it's starting, stopping, hovering.

It's just continuing on behind the mountain.

- [Tony] Then what's really going on here?

- [Michael] More than a decade after this was captured,

scientists at the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena

actually went back and applied

computer enhancement techniques called frame averaging,

and through this process, try to remove the bad information

to preserve the pixels that are the highest quality.

What they ultimately concluded

is that there were many similarities with a small plane,

wings and stabilizers and things like that

to be able to identify it.

But at that time period,

computer systems were in their infancy,

especially image enhancement techniques.

- [Tony] Experts in Pasadena worked from a copy

of Hansen's film negative,

and our team hasn't been able to track down

that original film.

- This is a copy that was generated

with another source of technology,

in which case whatever happened

before this file was generated

could have altered it to misrepresent it.

- Our verdict: we're calling this an unknown object.

Sure, it could be a small plane,

but that conclusion came from potentially incomplete data.

Meanwhile, sightings from Catalina Island keep pouring in

to the point that the abnormal is almost becoming normal.

- As humans, we are hardwired to be afraid of snakes,

an ancient survival instinct

from long before we lived safely indoors,

and judging by the size of the serpent you're about to see,

a healthy dose of fear is entirely justified.

It's December 2024

in the southern Thailand town of Pattani.

It's monsoon season, and heavy rain has flooded streets,

and with that freakish weather has come a freakish beast.

and with that freakish weather has come a freakish beast.

A passerby records this video

of a long serpentine form sticking out of the water.

- [Tony] It rides its gigantic,

thick, and muscular body back and forth

with its head hidden beneath the water.

- This video is part of a long tradition

of people reporting monstrous snakes.

According to an 1880 Chinese newspaper article,

a villager in the Malay Peninsula

awoke one night to hear his wife screaming,

and he saw that she was about to be swallowed whole

by a gigantic snake.

Acting quickly, he grabbed a machete

and began to hack at the animal.

He saved the skin,

and this was seen by a Western hunter

who measured it at being over 50 feet long.

- [Tony] Reports of giant snakes

continued well into the 20th century.

- [Ken] In 1959 in the Belgian Congo at a place called Katanga,

a helicopter pilot named Colonel Remy Van Lierde

was flying over a specific area

when suddenly he noticed a gigantic snake

writhing on the ground.

And as he flew his helicopter lower

to get a photograph of this thing,

it actually rose up and struck at his helicopter.

- [Tony] Some people think

the snake in the water in Thailand

is a prehistoric relic that survived,

like the 40-foot Titanoboa

that lived around 60 million years ago.

- [Ken] When paleontologists first found the skull

of this giant snake,

they actually thought it was some type

of prehistoric crocodile due to the size of its skull.

It probably lived a largely aquatic lifestyle

feeding on gigantic fish.

- In Thai folklore, the naga is a mythical serpent

said to live underground in caves or in water.

Its image often appears outside of Buddhist temples

as a guardian to ward off bad spirits.

Could this monsoon serpent be the myth made real,

a species thought extinct, or something else?

First, let's tackle the Titanoboa theory.

- [Rosie] We have constantly changing

environmental conditions,

and now we don't have an environment

that's conducive for a snake to grow that large.

It's speculated, for Titanoboa to actually thrive,

you would need it to be between 86

and 93 degrees at all times.

Thailand today can actually still have cold snaps,

so even getting down to, like, 70 degrees

would be a big deal for them.

- [Tony] Then could it just be a modern snake

that grew really big?

Not so fast.

Remember that alleged giant snake

photographed from the air in 1959?

Well, some thought it could be an African rock python,

but there are holes in that theory.

- We know that the African rock python

can get to about 20 feet.

50 feet is doubling that size.

So what I think happened is he was at such a distance

that he got the size wrong.

There is something called the size-distance paradox,

which will distort the size of something

depending on the distance that you are away from it.

- [Tony] So where does that leave us

with the snake from Thailand?

Moore has had some close encounters

with big snakes in her career,

and she has an answer.

- [Rosie] This is definitely a reticulated python.

You can still see a bit of the side patterning here.

And based on that kind of like diamond-shaped structure

going down the snake, it's definitely reticulated.

These guys get pretty big too.

I mean, they could get up to 20 feet,

some people say up to 32.

- [Tony] But we still have to explain

why this snake looks so large and unusual.

- [Mireya] These horizontal lines that you're looking at,

this is not the top of the snake.

Those are ventral scales,

which are actually on the belly of the snake.

So this snake is upside down.

Perhaps its head is stuck,

but the fact that it's not out of the water

tells me that it's dead.

It's actually the water

pushing up against the body of the snake

that's giving the illusion that it's alive,

but it's not actually moving.

- [Rosie] He is a bit bloated in the stomach area,

which typically is associated

with decaying prey within the stomach.

It's possible maybe it ate somebody's dog

or a stray pet wandering around.

- Our verdict: reticulated python.

It holds the record as the largest snake in the world,

remarkably stretching as long as the height of a giraffe.

- Now, making this show is challenging,

but it isn't rocket science,

except when it is, like right now.

We think of rocket science as a 20th century innovation,

but were people working on rockets centuries ago,

and was that fact hidden by a secret society?

It's 1961 in Sibiu, Romania.

Historians are sifting through the state archives

when they discover a 450-page text that seems odd.

This is the Sibiu manuscript,

written in the 16th century

by Austrian military engineer, Conrad Haas.

Amazingly, his work features diagrams of multi-stage rockets

that use stabilizing fins and liquid fuel.

It even includes early ideas about space travel.

- Liquid rocket propulsion didn't become a reality

until 400 years after this manuscript was written.

For some, this challenges

the traditional archeological timeline

and opens the possibility

that Haas was actually bringing back knowledge

from a long-forgotten pre-Roman or even pre-Ice Age society.

Some believe that this society was wiped out by a comet

nearly 13,000 years ago

in an event known as the Younger Dryas.

Believers argue that the survivors

passed on advanced ideas about agriculture, astronomy,

and even architecture to later societies,

including the Egyptians, the Sumer, and Mesoamericans.

- [Tony] Others argue that a secret society from Haas's day

was behind the technological breakthrough.

- [Amy] Rosicrucianism is an esoteric spiritual movement

tied to doctrines coming out of Germany in the 17th century.

It describes a brotherhood rooted in hermeticism

and Christian mysticism.

Some believe that Haas was an early Rosicrucian

and this manuscript speaks to forgotten knowledge.

It's possible that these secret societies

had advanced knowledge but kept it away from people.

That could explain why this manuscript,

which details rocket propulsion centuries ahead of its time,

remained hidden for so long.

- In the 17th century,

some claim that Rosicrucian medicine could reverse aging

and allow people to survive for years without eating.

Could a secret society

with that kind of sophisticated knowledge

also have come up with rocket ships,

or should some vanished ancient civilization get the credit?

Let's call in the experts.

- The Younger Dryas is a geological event

that happened about 12,000 years ago.

And of course, there are popular theories

that there was some sort of advanced civilization

that was chugging along back then,

but there's a lot of dots to connect

between 12,000 years ago and the 16th century.

The theory that there was some massive advanced civilization

falls flat when we look for the artifacts

of that civilization.

There's nothing like the industrialization

or large-scale production

that would indicate larger technologies whatsoever.

- [Tony] So were these rocket designs evidence

the Rosicrucians were holding tight to advanced tech?

- When it comes to the idea that this is some sort of

hidden-away technology from a secret society,

it makes no sense that they would make

a beautiful 450-page manuscript

that could be found and still exists today.

This was a very public thing made by an identified author.

- Let's apply Occam's razor.

Perhaps Haas envisioned this himself.

It's not uncommon for thinkers, visionaries

to come up with ideas that are before their time.

You can imagine things, devices

that can exist before they actually do.

- [Tony] Consider the helicopter.

One wasn't built until the 1940s,

but many consider Leonardo da Vinci's

late 15th century sketches

a conceptual precursor to the modern flying machine.

And what about H. G. Wells?

The father of science fiction is credited with foreseeing

everything from sliding doors to atomic bombs.

- [Hakeem] The most recent example may be Steve Jobs.

He envisioned a device that combined a telephone,

a music player, and had internet access.

And this was long before smartphones were common.

- If anybody in the 16th century

would've been thinking about things like rockets,

it would've been an Austrian military engineer.

Brilliant ideas do not always reach fruition.

That doesn't mean they weren't brilliant.

- I do have to say though,

the fact that the precision of this guy's ideas,

this multi-stage rocket using liquid fuel,

this multi-stage rocket using liquid fuel,

all came together in his mind

four centuries before we were actually capable

as humans of building it,

is incredibly extraordinary.

- Our verdict: we're saying unexplained

because of the unusual detail in the drawings.

But to be fair,

plain old-fashioned creativity might explain it.

- [Tony] We have new developments

in a story we first brought to you in a previous season.

Back in the early '80s, former US forest patrolman

and Bigfoot investigator Paul Freeman

began documenting hundreds of prints

within the Blue Mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

In 1991, he made print casts

that appeared to show dermal ridges, raised lines,

and folds in the skin

that differed from normal human prints.

And then in 1992,

he discovered these supposed adolescent Bigfoot prints.

He even claimed to have captured this 1993 imprint

of a Bigfoot's buttocks.

Freeman believed that not just one,

but a small group of Sasquatch

inhabited the Walla Walla River area of the Blue Mountains,

and he even managed to capture an alleged creature on tape.

- [Tony] Some Bigfoot researchers

consider Freeman's findings

the strongest body of evidence ever collected,

but others say the sheer volume is suspicious.

- [Cliff] Some people say that Paul Freeman hoaxed it,

but if that's the case,

why did we find ape characteristics

in the footprints that were consistent?

- [Tony] During our initial analysis,

our experts were struck

by the authenticity of both the video...

- I don't think that is a bear.

- [Tony]...and the prints.

- The inherent variation in appearance

reinforced my conclusions

that this evidence demonstrates the existence

of an unrecognized species.

- Our initial verdict was possible Bigfoot,

not exactly definitive.

Now new, albeit blurry footage has emerged,

allegedly a Bigfoot in the same area,

and we got it on video.

- This particular piece of footage

was obtained by a woman named Kelly.

Kelly saw the figure

and was trying to point it out to her daughter.

As soon as they both put their eyes on it,

they realized they were looking at something unusual.

The figure is dark from head to toe.

It doesn't seem to be wearing clothing

and it has an unusual gait.

- [Tony] According to Kelly,

this figure was spotted on the south fork

of the Walla Walla River,

just a few miles from Freeman's findings.

Cliff Barackman found the footage compelling enough

to investigate it himself.

- [Cliff] I met Kelly at the actual location

where she filmed this.

I found her to be very credible,

but even better, I got to interview her daughter.

- And I got no sense at all

that either Kelly or her daughter

were even stretching the truth.

- [Tony] Still, couldn't this just be a person?

- [Cliff] Where this figure is walking is off trail.

To get to this location, it is no joke, man.

I struggled to get up there.

It is dangerous terrain.

We don't see signs of a backpack.

We don't see signs of even a jacket.

An unusual, human-shaped figure

in an unusual place for anybody to be.

- So the new footage is just too blurry

for us to come to an official conclusion,

but the original verdict on the Freeman footage

gathered just several miles away, well, that stands.

Sadly, Professor Jeff Meldrum passed away

since we first aired this story.

He was a good friend of this program,

and we miss him every day.

That's our show for tonight.

Thank you so much for watching.
