Nuptials of Dracula.
Diary, May the 3rd.
This has been a long and exhausting trip.
I spent the day driving through the mountains, following the Count's instructions to the letter
I arrived at the village by sundown, and settled at the local inn as instructed.
It's a simple, rustic kind of place, but I was very well received by the landlady.
My room is warm and comfortable, but most importantly, it looks like I'm in for a delicious meal.
It's past 3 in the morning, and I still haven't been able to sleep
I can't believe I've spent my first night here wide awake.
I'm not the type that's easily impressed by superstitions and ghost stories
but I couldn't stop thinking about everything my landlady told me.
All those legends about what happens out there after dark.
She warned me about the Count, and his castle on the top of the mountain.
About the boys and girls from the village, who left their beds in the dead of night,
never to return
following the voices who summoned them to dance under the moon.
Voices of the dead who can't be laid to rest, for they envy the living.
These restless souls leave their graves by sundown, to feed on the blood of the innocent
who, in turn, will become Children of the Night just like them.
Such are the creatures that inhabit Castle Dracula.
The Undead...
Nosferatu.
I continued my journey to the castle at sunrise.
Here the days last only a few hours, and shortly enough,
the shadows had already covered the mountain.
The sordid details of those dreadful tales hung over me, watching from the shadows.
After months of endless correspondence,
here I was, face to face with the illustrious Count Dracula.
He received me with a feast worthy of a king.
No, he wasn't the horrifying monster the people from the village lead me to believe.
He was a serious, elegant, highly intelligent man
if also a bit distant, melancholic.
For a man surrounded by so much richness, the Count was but a lonesome figure.
All alone here in the mountains, in this enormous and oppressive castle.
The only living heir of a clan, the sole survivor in a land of ghosts.
After dinner, like every other night, we sit by the fire, and he tells me his stories.
Sometimes we stay here till sunrise... musing over our memories, our dreams, and nightmares.
Dear Mina.
This might be the last letter I write for a while.
I miss you terribly, and cannot wait to be back in your arms.
But I'm afraid we have still much work ahead of us
and the Count asked me to stay for another month to help wrap up.
I'm very sorry, but soon we'll be together again.
Yours forever, Jonathan.
With each passing day, the less I think about Mina,
less about the life I had prior to coming here.
I'm getting more and more used to the Count's nocturnal lifestyle.
I barely ever see the sun... Never know when I'm asleep or awake.
I can no longer tell the difference between reality, dream or nightmare...
Voices echo in the dark... Laughter, whispers, screams...
The song of a village boy lost in the woods.
The innkeeper's wife begging for the return of her stolen child.
Sometimes I wonder if I myself am not a prisoner in this castle
if I'm a hostage to the Count, like she said I would be.
Maybe I want to be his prisoner.
Maybe I don't want to go back
I'm drowning here, but I don't wish to reach the surface
I want to keep going down, sinking endlessly.
Mina, are you alright?
No... I had the most awful nightmare.
Calm down dear, it was just a bad dream.
Will you stay here with me for a while?
Sure, silly.
May the 23rd
Lucy accepted my invitation to spend a few days here with me at the beach house.
I feel like I'm in high school once again, when we used to have sleepovers every other weekend.
No parents, no supervision, no boyfriends, no rules.
Just us.
Eating what we wanted, sleeping at late hours, waking only when we fancied
sunbathing all day.
It's been somewhat less crowded around here this summer
and it's almost as if we had the whole beach just to ourselves.
All alone on an uncharted island, vast and mysterious, for us to explore.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night, whenever I'm thinking about Jonathan, his trip and everything else
I tiptoe into her bedroom, and she reads to me while I fall asleep
then everything goes back to where it started.
I only wish this summer could last forever.
Little did I know these first weeks of peace and quiet were soon to be disrupted.
Eyes watched Lucy from all around us, from every corner.
It didn't take long for Lucy to draw the attention from not only one, but three local suitors.
Arthur, a snotty playboy, son of some big shot from the city
Jonas, a shy poet who wasn't very good with poetry, though he did have a big heart.
And Quincey, a gringo lost around here, trying to make his career as a singer
not that he was very good at that either.
Love knocks at the door love knocks at the aorta
I opened it and caught a cold.
Cardiac and melancholic, love snores at the aorta.
I'm sorry, I'm lost.
On a single day, Lucy received three wedding proposals
one from each suitor.
Of course Lucy couldn't care less about any of them
but she amused herself and liked the attention.
Sometimes I wonder if she feels the same way about me
Lucy is ever so kind and attentive, but sometimes her mind has drifted so far off
I wonder where did she go, and what must I do to bring her back.
Lucy!
What's this, another proposal?
Miss Mina! Delighted to meet you!
This is Lucy, she came along to accompany me.
Enchanted!
I beg you to forgive my delay, goes with the trade I'm afraid.
The business we must discuss is a rather tender subject
I'd need a moment alone with Miss Mina, if Miss Lucy does not object, of course.
No worries, I'll wait for you here.
Thank you very much, we shan't be long.
How long have you and Mr. Harker been engaged?
About an year now, we had to postpone the wedding when he was called for this trip.
Didn't you correspond at all during his stay in Transylvania?
At first we did, but then I stopped receiving his letters
I see...
Please pardon my being so blunt, but for his sake as well as yours, I must inquire.
Did you and your fiancé have any sort of active sex life?
Not at all, he wanted to wait for the wedding, you see...
And do you know if Mr. Harker had any prior experiences, any relations prior to your engagement.
Or even during your engagement. And not necessarily with women...
What are you insinuating?
Miss Mina, I must ask you to remain calm.
What I must tell you is quite grave, quite delicate.
I need your total attention and cooperation.
Your Jonathan is gravely ill.
He contracted some kind of blood disease while he was away.
The kind that can only be obtained through contact with another's blood
or through sexual intercourse.
We believe this happened during his trip to Europe.
Unfortunately we still do not know much about this illness.
But we do know it changes the patient's behavior drastically.
Your fiancé has developed an extremely violent, erratic behavior.
We must not allow you to see him, at least for now.
But rest assured Miss Mina, we're doing everything in our power to cure him.
He's coming!
The Master is coming!
Lucy, the Master is coming!
The Master is coming for you!
He wants you and your body, Lucy! The Master is coming! The Master is coming!
He is coming! He wants your blood and your body!
He is coming! The Master is coming for you! The Master is coming!
Mina...
I'm sorry, I can't sleep... Do you mind if I lay down next to you for a bit?
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
He's coming...
The Master is coming for you...
He's coming...
The Master is near...
He is coming...
Once the vampire's victim has tasted the blood of their murderer,
They will, like him, rise from the grave after dark.
Born again as a frightful Creature of the Night.
Some Eastern European countries refer to such beings as the Vordalack.
A being that preys on those it loved in life, beckoning them into the dark.
Luring them into a deadly embrace
and sealing their doom with the sweet, tender kiss of Death.
The only way to prevent the vampire's curse from spreading
and prevent the victim to rise again
is by driving a wooden stake through their heart.
Only then will they find peace.
Otherwise they'll keep on roaming the night.
Feeding on human life, on human souls, on pain and blood.
Recruiting a growing number of lost souls to their dreadful army of darkness.
The Master shall give me his blood! The Master shall give me life eternal!
Blood is life! The Master shall give me his blood! Blood is life!
Blood is life! Blood is life!
The Master shall give me life eternal!
Good morning, did you sleep well?
I need you to take this, you'll feel much better...
Where is Lucy?
It's all under control, my dear. Please...
Jonathan...
Jonathan... Can you hear me?
Where are you?
Where are you?
Is your Master in there with you?
Water...
I'm surrounded by water.
Floating through the deep, endless sea.
A boat sails through without a soul on board... The crew is dead...
A large shadow emerges from the mist...
An island...
We are sailing towards the island...
And what is there on this island? Do you know?
On top of a hill, a white palace.
Surrounded by tall walls, gates, and guards.
Long white corridors, all alike.
Each room occupied by souls - restless, tortured, tormented, crying for help.
The Master wanders through the halls, searching and searching.
Searching for what? For whom?
For the one who bears his mark on their neck.
He's drawing nearer, ever so close.
The locked door on the top of the stairs...
Is he searching for you?
No, not for me...
I am no longer useful to the Master.
The Master has forsaken me.
She's the one he wants now...
Her...

The Master has forsaken me.
She's the one he wants now...
