Denise Holly here with Channel 2 Action News
reporting in Chalmette
at this blazing house fire.
As you can see, firefighters are working diligently
to put out the blaze.
Earlier we had reports
that there were three children In the house.
PATRICK: Come on, guys, let's go!
Let's go, let's go, let's go!
TIM: Georgie! Go right! Patrick follow me, come on!
PATRICK: Sweep this!
| got one!
- Come on! - Oh, yeah!
Come on, | got one, guys! | got it!
DENISE: All this fire you can actually hear
the mother screaming.
| just see her run out of the way.
My babies! They're inside!
The fire! They're too young to die!
God please, me help me!
Excuse me, this is your kid?
- Benjamin! - Yeah, here you go!
This is my baby!
All right, do you have another kid inside?
- Yes! Elizabeth! - Okay.
- He's still inside! Come on! - Okay, let's go!
- Come on! - [woman crying]
[door cracking]
Tim! Get in here hurry!
The girl's in here.
| think this wall's gonna give!
Come on, Tim!
TIM: Where? Where's the kid?
Right back there! Come on!
Come on!
Hurry up, Tim!
Get her out of here!
| can't hold him! Come on!
TIM: | got her! | got her!
- Hang tight! - | know!
Come on, after me! Get her out of here!
[crashing]
- Here. - Oh, my God, my baby.
Oh, my God!
TIM: Georgie's still inside!
PATRICK: Okay.
[dramatic music playing]
TIM: Oh, Georgie!
- Come on, Georgie! - Come on!
Let's go! Let's grab him.
Let's go! We gotta get out of here!
- Let's go! - All right!
TIM: About to collapse!
PATRICK: Okay!
[grunting]
We got you!
Come on! Come on!
- Come on! - GEORGIE: Guys...
PATRICK: Go down. Up, up...
TIM: Let's go!
But as you see, this fire Is still blazing.
We're unsure of the causes of this fire.
- Uh, Captain Joe, excuse me. - Yes.
Captain Joe, can you please confirm
that there were only two children inside of the house?
That's correct, there was two children
both of them were rescued successfully.
Georgie, our other fireman that was in there,
IS injured but he'll recoup shortly
and he'll be back to 100%
so, they are heroes IN my book so--
Absolutely. Heroes.
These courageous firefighters
put their lives on the line tonight
to save these children.
The causes of this fire are unknown
but as we find more information
we will keep you posted
and what could have been a tragedy tonight in Chalmette
has been triumph.
Back to you, Roger.
[orchestral music playing]
[roaring]
[cheering and applause]
All right!
Let's see our heroes up here!
Georgie Locker!
- [crowd cheering] - All right, man.
Thank you, my friend.
Thank you, thank you.
Tim O'Leary! Come on here, man.
That's him!
That's my boyfriend!
My boyfriend. Go, Tim!
[cheering and applause]
And Patrick Arene!
Patrick, | love you my baby!
[cheering and applause]
That's my man! That's my man!
[laughing]
Thank you, Patrick, for your services,
| appreciate it.
[cheering and applause]
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for our heroes!
[cheering and applause]
- Whoo! - Yeah!
[cheering continues]
Good job, man.
These three men
from the Ponchatoula Fire Department
not only have they given their service as firefighters,
on their free time,
they dedicate themselves to volunteering in the community
and that has not gone unnoticed by us, guys.
Thank you very much, guys. | appreciate it.
[cheering and applause]
On October 25th
these guys went out to a house that was on fire,
went into almost certain death.
So instead of tonight
mourning the loss of two beautiful babies
we're gonna celebrate these three heroes,
let's give it up for our guys!
[cheering and applause]
Thanks a lot.
[cheering and applause]
[cheering and applause]
Thank you for your service, man, | appreciate it.
Thanks | appreciate it.
Thank you for your service.
You're a good friend.
All right, ladies and gentlemen.
[cheering and applause]
All right, how about a word from our heroes?
Come on, Georgie, give us a word, man!
Um, okay...
Um, first and foremost
| just want to say It's an absolute honor
to serve this community
and, um, | intend to do so until | die.
| just want to thank you all
for honoring us tonight, you Know?
It was, um, a really Intense moment
and | really appreciate these two right here.
| think um...
| mean, they saved my life.
Let's give it up for them, right?
[cheering and applause]
[clears throat]
Hey, yeah.
So, uh, thank you guys so much.
I'm not used to this sort of thing but uh--
Speaking in front of so many people or anything but, um,
[clears throat]
Well, uh, yeah we don't-- we--
We didn't sign up to be firefighters
to be called heroes or--
We did this because we--
Well, we enjoy teamwork
and that's what it takes to uh
have a mission like what we did.
Uh, | also see this audience
and | look around and | see heroes all around us.
| love being in New Orleans.
[crowd cheering]
| wouldn't want to serve this community with anybody else
| love, rather than Georgie, Patrick
and, uh, we do what we do
and, uh, thank you for this.
Ah-- anyway, I'm not good at this, | just uh--
Thank you, guys, | don't know.
- That's all | got to say. - PAUL: Come on, Patrick!
[cheering and applause]
Hi, everyone.
I'm Patrick, so,
as my colleagues always say
| don't want to say too much except...
[sighs] As you know, like--
Uh, recognition wants recognition
We're not for recognition, right, Captain Joe?
Right, okay, so--
| want to officially say, um,
thank you, Georgie, and also Tim
for your hard work, as well as Captain Joe.
Without them | will probably not survive, so--
That was a big wall, right, guys?
Huge wall and he hold it tight.
- Wow. I'm very proud-- - Just long enough.
Georgie I'm very proud of you, yeah.
Thank you, guys, thank you.

TIM: There Is no way
that this levee IS gonna hold up
in the event of a major storm or hurricane,
even a big rain.
| don't think it would hold.
PATRICK: Now, we shouldn't talk to Georgie
about this levee situation.
- Why not? - Well, because you know,
he's-- he potentially will ruin our-- our plan.
TIM: Okay. Why not?
PATRICK: Well, because he'd be too paranoid
and plus he would destroy our plan.
But we have the plan.
- The plan. - The plan.

There's breeding ground.
What do you know about breeding ground?
That was born there.
Brackish water.
Secret map.
Only close friends can have it.
[laughing]
You're gonna need a small boat.
But this map, It doesn't even make any...
...o€NsSe.
REPORTER: Then stay indoors, lock your doors,
lock your windows.

| gotta tell Patrick.
REPORTER: Live, Stephanie--
[shark roaring]
[country music playing]
[no dialogue]
[country music playing]
[no dialogue]
This you're gonna miss, MISS, MISS, MISS.
- Yeah, | won! Whoo! - Oh, man!
Come on, two out of three, huh?
Look, | have to go to see my beautiful Sophia.
Oh, my gosh. Seriously? Hey, hey, hey.
What?
| got something serious to tell you.
Like what?
Come here.
Look, don't play games with me right now.
I'm not playing games with you.
- What? - Come here.
| don't want anybody else to see this.
Okay, what do we have here?
This Is a secret map an old man gave me.
It's a pretty weird guy,
but he said that this IS a breeding ground.
| don't understand it. The map doesn't make any damn sense.
This is Mississippi right here, right?
And that's where the Cove is.
Mm-hm.
And he said this Is the breeding ground.
Yeah. Following this.
What do you make of that?
Well, you know what, probably--
It's very high probability shark is right here.
So he's right.
Well, then-- [scoffs]
You know, look, if--
If we find that, like--
Why don't we just get a whole bunch of dynamite
and blow its ass up?
We need a plan first before you blow up anything.
Dynamite is not enough.
What else do we do?
Let me think, let me think here.
That's what | want to do, though.
You know what? We need a couple of pigs.
That's what we need. Pigs, dynamite, blood.
That's a good idea.
We use the pigs like--
It'll be like the bait for the shark.
Yeah.
Once the dynamite's in there,
it will explode when he bites.
But the problem is. How does--
How do we find the shark to put the shark bait?
Well...
What do you think?
I'm thinking.
What about some kind of device like a tracker device,
tracking device, tracking device.
Stab it into the shark!
That way we could. follow its pattern.
Yeah. Because you remember, shark can go all over.
So it's not anywhere.
And the water has been coming and going.
- And that's why we can-- - On the road.
We can follow the tracking device.
That's a good plan. | love it.
And we'll know where to bait the pig.
Oh, yeah. We can do that very easily.
Yeah, that's-- that's the plan.
You're a good diver.
- You know how to swim. - Of course.
You to put the tracking device Into the shark.
That way, anywhere that it goes,
we'll know where it goes. We'll have our plan.
And be able to follow through, execute,
and we'll be able to save this city.
PATRICK: Yeah, we will.
That's a good plan.
- Yeah. - | like It.
So let's review it.
Dynamite, pigs, tracker.
- Boom! - And also gear.
Don't forget the gear. Dive gear.
This is a good plan.
Yeah. You know what?
Also you have to give to Georgie this map
and then tell him to study, okay?
- | will. - Yeah, | see--
- | have to go now. - Good plan.
- That's a good plan. - I'm gonna meet with Georgie.
We'll meet up later.
And we'll save New Orleans for sure, man.
[panting]
Don't stop.
There's a shark coming!
Please. Please. Can | get a ride?
- Okay, get in. - Please-- Thank you.
- Get In. - TIM: Saddle up, partner.
[groans]
Wow, hi, guys.
- My name is Alex. - PATRICK: Hi, Alex.

I'm really scared, man.
Don't worry. Everything's fine.
Yeah, don't worry. You're in good hands now.
ALEX: Well, drive faster.
Go faster!
[gunshot fires]
Oh. What are you doing?
Put my rifle down!
You cannot use a rifle to kill a shark.
You agitate shark and then what will happen?
He has more power.
And what will happen if shark will kill you?
- You cannot do that. - Fine.
- Don't touch anything! - Okay.
| mean, come on, man.
You're living In delusional minds.
| think I've pissed him off!
He's coming! Go faster. Go!
Come on. Go. Go. Faster! Come on, Tim!
ALEX: Faster, faster!
Guys, guys! Calm down!
I'm trying to focus here.
Your screaming ain't helping anything.
Alex, where's your damn house?
It's-- it's two blocks that way.
Turn here. Turn here.
[roaring]
TIM: Where's it at?
Ugh. It's right here. Right here.
- Right here?. - Yeah, yeah.
TIM: All right. All right.
Okay.
Oh, wow. Oh, Jesus.
You guys saved my life for real.
| owe you-- | owe you everything.
PATRICK: All right, all right, okay.
You know where | live if you need anything at all.
- Glad we can help. Be safe. - Okay.
What a loser.
- He cannot even shoot a rifle. - [laughing]
Wow.
Can't believe he touched my gun.
Yeah, he did. Wow.
But that shark was crazy.
It was.
We really got to get back to the city.
Got to get back to the station.
Yeah. We have to do it, man.
We have to save New Orleans.
Our plan is clear.
The plan is clear.
[sighs]
No, you don't understand.
These people need to know.
Everybody! We have a plan!
- What are you-- - Patrick, Tim and |
are gonna to save everyone, all right?
But do this. Do not worry.

You need some help, you need some help. Come on.
[car horn honking]

We're gonna save the city, okay?
PATRICK: Georgie come on, get in.

Georgie, we need to--
Look a red again.
Every red light.
Georgie, we need your help.
I'm not aligned with anything you're saying, Patrick.
- Why not? - Because | don't feel good.
- Look, Tim, explain to him. - You got to stay focused, man.
We got the dive gear.
We got to get to the levee.
We got to find the shark.
GEORGIE: My head's killing me.
The shark Is here.
Come on. You have to pay attention, Georgie.
I'm scared for my life.
It's terrible.
It's a disaster. Come on, wake up!
Ah! You're right. Okay, fine.
She is right.
Look, our objective IS to kill shark.
Basically, that's our objective.
- We have to do-- A green. - Wow
PATRICK: Because it's over complicate-- complication.
Yeah, you go.
That's it, man.
You're stealing the girl, what do you expect?
TIM: | get what it is.
| don't think my driving really makes you sleep.
GEORGIE: Is that what it is?
GEORGIE: Yeah, Tim. Oh, my God.
TIM: Oh, man, Georgie is--
PATRICK: Oh, my God, look at him.
- I'm thinking-- - You know what?
- I'm speechless. - | think he's drunk.
[overlapping chatter]
Oh, shit. | think he's drunk.
He's afraid of sharks, man.
Georgie, are you okay? What's wrong?
- Oh, my-- Don't touch me. - Why not? Why?
| don't want to talk to you anymore.
You don't want to talk to me anymore?
| don't care about you anymore.
Because I'm fine. All right?
