manifestations and bring them into

harmony. It was on the basis of his
positive response we were able to

release him.

What makes you believe that he thinks
he's demon-possessed?

Well, his father was an itinerant
evangelist, a tent preacher

who ran out on his wife and children.

Conrad...

picked up a good deal of religious
superstition in his youth.

And he developed a protective mechanism

through demonic possession.

His mind was unable to accept the
thought that he had been personally

rejected by his father.

And so the so-called demon became the
scapegoat.

So in Conrad's mind, his father left
because of the devil?

Correct. He blamed that same demon for
taking the hostage in Alcatraz a few

years ago.

Conrad was released to his brother,
Charles, who lives at 1271 Artmore Place

in San Francisco.

So Conrad's personalities, as you call
them, were

psychopathically violent.

It was the consensus of our staff that
any

psychopathic tendencies Conrad exhibited
when he was admitted here had been

resolved.

It was our conclusion there was no
reason why he could not be released.

problem. The imbalance of spiritual
energies within us and have been

eminently. more successful in dealing
with such matters.

Just as we all have positive and
negative energies flowing throughout our

bodies, so Conrad has an overabundance
of negative forces, which seem to

take control of him at will.

Conrad's will and his understanding are
the major problems.

Our conflict, came about because it is
incredibly difficult to

drive out the negative forces without
Conrad's willingness to be rid of them.

He really isn't willing to see them as
simply spiritual energy.

Though at times he's tried to convince
me that he understands.

She passed away last summer.

I sensed Conrad's presence here earlier.

What we experienced was a sort of
residue of that spiritual energy.

Not unlike, say, a tremor that would
follow

an earthquake.
